Chapter 6
They had their dinner in complete silence, remembering what had just happened. Both could not believe what drew them to each other and made them dance in a trance; like their was no tomorrow. They tried to avoid looking at each other, only failing to do so. They tried to steal glances only to get caught by the other.
Ashutosh dropped Nidhi home. Both bid each other Good night. Nidhi rushed in without looking back and Ashutosh too drove away back home.
"Yeh maine kya kar diya! Dr. Nidhi kya sochti hongi mere bare mein! Maine bina unse pooche unhe …ab main unse nazrein kaise milaunga…yeh achcha nahi hua…kya karoon, kuch samajh nahi aa raha!
But he felt good when he was with Nidhi. He remembered the feel of Nidhi's closeness. He felt like a mould and Nidhi melt in him like a wax. He felt immense attraction towards her yet feeling ashamed of himself for feeling that way.
Nidhi too was anxious. She still could feel Ashutosh's warmth towards her. She could still feel the warmth of his touch on her waist and arms. She could feel him smelling her hair. " Yeh kaisa ehsaas hai" She thought! " Kyun mujhe unka mere paas aana, mujhe chuna, achcha laga? Kyun mujhe ab bhi unki chuan ka ehsaas hai? Kyun mujhe aisa lag ki main unme samaa jaun?" Yeh galat hai Nidhi! She said to herself!
Her phone rang! It was him! Her heart started beating faster. She answered.
"Hello"
There was a silence.
"Dr. Ashutosh?"
"Hello; Dr. Nidhi!" He said.
"J j ji kahiye?"
Dr. Nidhi, maine aapko ye kehne ke liye phone kiya hai …..ki…..aaj jo wo …aaj jo hua ..uske liye main sharminda ..bohot sharminda hoon..
Her face fell. It didn't feel right.
Maine aapke saath dance me shayad aapki garima ko chot pohochayi!
"What was he saying?" She thought.
Mujhe maaf kar dijiye Dr. Nidhi! Mujhe maaf kar dijiye! Main jaanta hoon maine jo kiya wo aapko achcha nahi laga!
She said "Dr. Ashutosh, yeh aap kya keh rahe hai? Saara dosh aapka to nahi tha na? Jo bhi hua usme hum dono baraabar ke kasoorwar hain; agar jo hua wo itna galat tha!"
He was confused! Was she trying to say that she liked it?
" Dr. Ashutosh; job hi hua wo kyun hua , kaise hua, main to nahi jaanti..par itna zaroor jaanti hoon ki Kuch to zaroor hai jiske kaaran yeh sab hua..aur abhi shayad hum ise nahi samajh sakte…! Kya hum guilty feel na karke use sirf ek dance samajh ke bhool nahi sakte?"
"Aur haan yeh sirf humare beech rahega; I promise!"
He was relieved! Whatever she said was so correct. How on earth was she so mature and understanding, yet so charming and full of life?
" Ok Dr. Nidhi! Thank you for saying this! Mere man se ek bohot badaa bojh hat gaya!"
" Dr. Ashutosh, mujhe lagta hai humare beech bojh jaise shabd ki koi jagah nahi hai….Aur….Aur pata nahi yeh sahi hai ya nahi, par kya humare beech dosti ho sakti hai?

Chapter 7
There was a knock at the door. "Come in" He said.
"Good Morning Dr. Ashutosh"
He looked up. "Good Morning Dr. Nidhi! Welcome back! Aaj se aap ki duty children's ward me mostly hogi…par aapko baki sab wards me bhi kaam karna hoga.Aapki duty as usual Dr Mallika dengi. Aap unse mil lijiyega."
"Aapne unse baat kar li ? unhe koi problem to nahi hai na?"
" Dr Nidhi, Dr Mallika meri dost hain, is hospital ki board member nahi. Is hospital me kise rakhna hai ya kise nahi, yeh main decide karta hoon hospital ke fayde ke liye. Don't worry about it. Aap apna dhyan apne kaam me lagayiye. Hospital politics main sambhaal loonga"
" ok and Thank you Dr. Ashutosh!"
" Aur haan , aapko koi bhi problem ho to aap bejhijhak mujhse kahiye. Bhooliyega mat ki ab hum dost hain"
"Ji" She said happily.
Next few days passed as Nidhi concentrated on her work with full sincerity. She wanted to be a good doctor just like him. He became her role model.
Ashu too kept observing Nidhi. He was happy with her work.
One fine Day
Ashutosh was about to leave when he saw from his window Nidhi waiting near the parking for a conveyance …He rushed downstairs.
"Dr Nidhi, kya baat hai ..aap yaha kaise ruki hain?"
"Wo aaj car baba le gaye hain , isliye main auto dekh rahi thi"
"If you don't mind , I can drop you home"
" Nahi Dr. Ashutosh, main chali jayungi, bewajah aap kyon pareshaan ho rahe hain…"
" Dr. Nidhi, aap bhool rahi hai ki hum dost hain, remember?"
She smiled.
" Ab itna to main kar sakta hoon?"
" Par ek shart hai"
"Kya?"
"Mujhe actually na bohot bhook lag rahi hai, to can we stop somewhere to grab a bite"
"Par aap to ghar hi jaa rahi hai na?"
" Wo mujhe burger ki bhook lag rahi hai"
" wo extra cheese and French fries wala burger?" He said with a smile.
" Haan aur meri na ek secret jagah hai jaha se main burger khati hoon. Aap chalna chahenge?"
"Agar aap le jaana chahe to…"
"Thik ha, chaliye"
She gave him directions . They reached a small fast food joint . She ordered her special burgers for them.
"To Dr. Nidhi, aapki internship kaisi chal rahi hai?"
"Achchi chal rahi hai, Dr. Ashutosh. I am trying to be careful and responsible"
"Yes, I have see that"
She was nervous. Was he observing her?
"Yes , dr. Nidhi, aap sahi soch rahi hain. It's my duty to observe everyone"
" Aap ko kaise pata main…"
"Experience"
Their order was served. They ate quietly.
"Kaisa hai?" She asked
" It indeed is very tasty Dr. Nidhi! Thanks for bringing me here. And this is on me!"
"Nahi mera aapko yaha lane ka matlab free mein khana nahi tha! We can go Dutch…"
He couldn't control his laughter. She was innocently funny.
"Dr. Nidhi main jaanta hoon aap kisi matlab se mujhe yaha nahi layi but since I am your senior, please let me…!"
"o.k.If you wish so!"
"But Dr. Nidhi it wasn't a burger but a giant burger and that too with all your favourite extra somethings…iske baad to dinner ka sawaal hi nahi uthta …!"
"Haan to chaliye us chai ke dukaan pe chalke chai peete hain wo bhi adrak wali..uske baad to aapko dinner ki zaroorat hi nahi hogi…aur bhook lagi bhi to aap noodles kha lijiyega…"
He smiled and said "Chaliye!"
They reached the Tea stall and asked for 2 cups of tea.
"Dr. Ashutosh aisa nahi lag raha jaise hum date pe aaye ho?" She suddenly realized her slip of tongue and bit her lower lips…and lowered her eyes in embarrassment.
He looked at her with a tiny smile at the corner of his lips . Somehow he liked what she had said. And more than that it gave him an opportunity to look at her without hesitation and appreciate her beauty. She had a glowing complexion with cheeks gone pink. She had luscious rosy lips which he so wanted to touch. She had long , straight, silky and flowing hair. He realized that this girl was making him crazy. But as usual he held back and came to his senses.
"Its o.k Dr. Nidhi. Thoda bohot mazaak chalta hai. After all main itna bhi heartstone nahi hoon!!"
They finished their tea. Nidhi got up to return the glasses and suddenly fell back pulled by the back of her kurti over which Ashutosh was sitting. She fell straight into his arms with her back resting on his chest. He held her with his stronghold. Both looked at each other and got lost . She relaxed her head and put all the weight on his left shoulder. Moments passed without them realizing what position they were in and that they were moving closer and closer with only breathing distance remaining between them.
"Saheb, glass…"chaiwala said. It broke their eye contact.
They split quickly.
He dropped her home; again without a word.
