Haha I was so thrown off by the bg music in the beginning that I was cringing big time...

I understand they want to give the viewers a broader picture but they could have unfolded their cards a bit more gradually...koi train toh chhoot nahin rahi thi...I feel character connect is important for a story like this.

lol but true they will probably slow down randomly at some point and start dragging pointlessly...the pathetic pacing of most daily soaps *rolls eyes*

My biggest grouse is with the Ashutosh scenes...MB is my main reason for watching this show and I was disappointed with how they either rushed his scenes or made them too melodramatic...there should be more THEHRAAV to his character...I was expecting some more subtlety and interesting silences.

I am watching this show for Mohnish Behl and this is exactly my complaint.the rushing ...I wanted more scenes and i really don't like the typical accident scene and then meeting in the office thing. It has been done to death.hope there will be interesting things to look forward to in the coming episodes and I really hope they have a set number of episodes and complete the story in that period, otherwise the show will suffer.

It wasn't such a bad episode considering it's the 1st episode.T he flashback scenes were a bit rushed as it should have been slowed down so that we as vieweres could get time to connect to Ashutosh's character.I also thought that Nidhi and her baba scenes were the best so far and agree that the Bg music could have been a lot better something that would reach out to everyone's heart..hope they improve on that and unfold the characters stories at a steady pace so there is more depth to them.
All in all as it's only the 1st episode it's too soon to say much gonna have to wait and watch but I really do have a feeling that Nidhi and Ashutosh's chemistry will be one worth watching so fingers crossed.

I've recently watched DK and that's still fresh in my mind but still I watched the first epi of KTLK with an open mind.

First things first...the beginning was JARRING...HORRIBLE choice of bg music for the flashback of Ashutosh's past...sounded like a an animal dying or something whatever was supposed to be the voice of a kid singing...and I found the scene a bit rushed...as if they were just cutting from frame to frame to quickly show Ashutosh's past without letting the audience FEEL his emotions or the depth of his attachment to the house and his baba...dialogues weren't that great either. MB is a great actor but I don't feel the production values are doing him much justice.

Secondly...Nidhi and family...not bad...some scenes are straight lifts from DK like Nidhi walking along the wall to get to Anji's house...the bulb outside Anji's dad's office...the actors cast are pretty similar features wise to the DK cast...

I liked the scene where Nidhi is trying to touch her dad's feet but he wouldn't let her...the dadi bua is kinda OTT...but then the original in DK was loud too...the father is nicely cast and his scenes with Nidhi are good too but again, I get a sense overall of rushing with the epi...they don't really let you soak in the characters and keep jumping from one to the next in quick succession.
due
Another flashback I found rushed was Ashutosh and the lawyer telling him the house has been bequeathed to someone else...and it was unnecessarily dramatic too with showing him ripping the curtain😕😕...

Anji-Nidhi are sweet together...

The cook is a very random character.

Overall I feel they tried to stuff too much into the first episode and they need to fix the pacing...this isn't a weekly like DK was and they need to fix the flow of the epis...seems like too much is happening in one epi only. The backgrounds of the characters need to be established better.

So overall, I didn't like the bg music much barring the few bits where they played the 'kuch toh hai zaroor' portions of the title song...and the direction is poor...nothing very impressive...production values could have been better.

dude ! respect your view😊
just catched the episode, 😆 flashback, the music was pretty horrfic and jargan it was like a piece of music from a 30's silent movie. gosh !😲 am trampled
but yep did not get a feel of his character there was no fixation.
to be honest i have not seen dk, but it seems really respected and admired as a show. yeah i agree i liked her auntie she was amazing my fav character of the show
yep they dont let u connect to the character i think the director gt a gun on his head 😛
but it was a decent episode
one thing i dnt understand, if u want to fail then dnt answer the exam questions or answer them wrong. its really confusing 😆
i liked kritz really bubbly but hope the mature nature develops. she did a decent job

LMAO Anu.

First the disagreements (As usual) -

- I most definitely didn't feel like an animal dying for the bg music showing Ashutosh's past. It was not great, but it wasn't horrible either. It just didn't garner any particular reaction in my mind. In short, it was forgettable

- Nidhi's acting - could've been toned down a bit. I know she is supposed to be bubbly, happy-go-lucky etc ... But for some reason I can't put my finger on, I was a tad bit annoyed by her overzealousness today. Hopefully as the time wears on, it will get better.

Now for the agreements

- I agree with you about the pace of the episode. It seemed like it was on a fast forward mode. As though the director had forgotten that this is a daily, not a weekly. Everything from the lawyer bit, to the passing the exam bit, to the fretting about the house bit, to the flashbacks seemed rushed. They didn't have to cram all the possible characters or their references in one episode.

- MB's expressions - I agree that they seemed a lot more melodramatic. The flaring of the nostrils was it for me ... MB is not a bad actor at all - but the direction could've been better. Subtlety could've been better utilized. I like your point where you say that there needs to be THEHRAO in his character.

-I like the casting of Nidhi's dad as well. He seems like a decent chap and a likeable character

My own observation -

- Please, oh, please can we have Alok Nath not wear such tight clothes? I know the point was to show him younger. But he looked ridiculous with dyed black hair and ill fitting clothes. Since Alok Nath is primarily to be a character of Ashutosh's flashbacks, I hope they have him dressed appropriately in future. I like Alok Nath as well. It would be a terrible eye sore to see him dressed like so.

You've got to be kidding...that beginning bg music was THE most jarring thing about the epi...sounded like it was from some D grade 80s movie...PATHETICALLY sung by some kid especially considering they were trying to show 'soft' childhood nostalgia...EPIC FAIL in my opinion. Ek toh the scene was being shown in a rushed manner upar se such crappy bg music...killed it in my opinion.

But LOL you chose to focus on Alok Nath's tight clothes instead...haha😆...I should've guessed given your quirks...yeah that was weird too...I honestly just was quite disappointed with the entire presentation of this crucial portion of the story...Ahmer-Baba...which are possibly my most fav. part about DK...so yes I didn't like how any of this was presented in today's epi cuz it didn't let you connect to Ashutosh and his emotions.

Kritika didn't annoy me as much cuz I was expecting more overacting but she actually did a nice enough job...I'm not exactly the most die-hard fan of the original Zoya anyways either like you might be😆

The performance, the screenplay, the direction everything was rushed.
I don't even want to comment abt the BG music.

Just a simple watch & forget kinda episode grrr
It looked as if someone was holding a gun on to
Rajan's head & he had TO PERFORM a SURGERY
(produce an episode).

I have just watched couple of episodes of DK & am completely
HOOKED :)

LOL I like how you put it...did seem like someone had held a gun to his head and made him produce this in a rushed manner...ironic considering they've been shooting for a while but still the first epi was not well put together.

This show technically should be one with a set number of episodes given the storyline but sadly it seems they will most likely drag it out beyond that with all kinds of silly twists...that's how daily soaps go.

Yes, the rushing of the scenes needs to be looked into...but I did sense a spark in the Ashutosh-Nidhi chemistry so let's see how that is handled.

bold - LMAO, Yeah you know me. I cannot help observing things that shouldn't matter. But like you said, the entire presentation was very poor.

red - No I wasn't a fan of Zoya AT all. I liked Marina Khan in other serials that I had watched like Tanhaiyan. Not in DK. I thought I told you that I liked Dr. Ahmer the best of the lot.

One more thing:

Did we need to have Nidhi stand 14th all over India in the MBBS exam if she was so opposed to passing it in the first place? Had they just shown her to have passed the exam, it would've sufficed. Her extreme dislike at being a doctor in first place, just does not justify her passing the exam with flying colors. It is extremely difficult to pass the exams in the first place and if she did it without studying then she must've been a genius or a prodigy. Because without passion, one cannot simply stand 14th in the MBBS exams. It was sooo OTT ... 😆

Hey thanks😊

Regarding your question about Nidhi's intention to fail...lol I guess that's left up to viewer interpretation...maybe she couldn't help but give the exam sincerely even if she wanted to fail...maybe she is freakishly smart despite all her other doubts about becoming a doctor...or maybe it's sheer luck...😆😆...all in all this ends up being her destiny...guess that's what they want to show.

copy pasting what i have said in the other thread which is now closed...

I would like to begin by saying that Dhoop Kinare is my ALL TIME fav TV show..if u havent watched it, pls do so on Youtube -its a 56 part masterpiece created in the 1990s by Saira Kazmi(director) and Hasina Moin(writer) starring Rahat kazmi and Marina Khan who created magic on the screen. its a serial that enjoys many re runs even today on PTV...as an Indian, remember the craze we developed for this serial in our school days and how we waited with baited breaths for the VCDs to arrive at our video librarys...so i was pretty excited seeing the promos of the KTLK

But WTH! i was majorly disappointed with this girl KK...she is terribly miscasted!!!...her acting is average, her accent terrible and her voice modulation needs a lot of work...plus she is just too conscious of her looks to be anywhere remotely close to marina Khan in the original dhoop kinare!!!! her contant flicking of hair, etc is just so irritating.,...she comes up extremely wanting in those scenes that have been directly copied from dhoop kinare...BAD CASTING!!! The 2 fathers and bua seemed to be casted very close to the original in DK but are a tad flat..Mohinish behl is fine...but Anji-again a disappointment!

Directors Cut , u better do something abt ur female lead else she is going to bring down the entire show...!!!

very disappointed!!

after writing the above post, i was majorly taken to task by some forum members for commenting on KK's accent and acting abilities and for comparing this show to DK...but hey, i ask, why not??? just because she is a punjabi, she is allowed to continue to have that accent of hers on this show which needs her to be speaking differently? no!! and pls, if u think she is a fab actress, thats taking it too far...she is an OK to average actress who until now has displayed more visual appeal than acting skills in her earlier 2 shows... this show is going to test her skills big time i.e. if the makers are serious about making it as close to DK as possible...if they themselves are only loosely adapting it, and subsequently plan to rely on avg acting, writing and patchy narration, then there is nothing further to be said...the first episode was a disappointment whereas, given that its based on DK ( atleast thats what they say in their opening credits) which is such an iconic show, they should have ensured they gave us a fab first episode !!
