Okay guys, as promised, chapter 4 is here... Please note that this one is the last chapter and with most probability there would be few to no stories from my side for the next 2 months... I ain't saying that I wont post only... If I write, I surely will post... If I don't, you know my absence... So without any further ado, here you all go... Have a great read.

CHAPTER-4 (LAST CHAPTER)

Sonakshi stood at the door of her house listening to Dev and Bijoy talking... Dev's apologies were worth melting and she was a bit satisfied, if not her, he at least made truce with her father, apologized for his mistake and took the onus for the same... Rubbing her hurting back, Sonakshi walked off the hall to her room... She knew Dev's penetrating eyes must be drilling bores into her back with the scrutiny they held, but she can't ask him to follow... No matter what, she still felt hurt at his words at her home, and needed a talking...

Changing into her home wears, Sonakshi lied down in bed... Her back hurt... It took her longer reaching home, because she had a checkup from her doctor, who had strictly asked her to rest in bed if she wants her baby all right... Sonakshi pressed her hurting back, as she tried shifting to a different position so that she gets some relief...

Out of nowhere, an angry tear rolled out of her eye... The man who should have been here with her, trying to help her through this tough time, is busy having peace with his father in law, brewing coffee for both the men... How insensitive! Sonakshi twisted yet again.

In her own thoughts, the chain took her pondering over various thoughts, breaking at the sound of someone entering through her room door... She stopped twisting seeing Dev walking with a cup and a glass... Cup of coffee for himself and a glass of milk for her... Placing the tray on the side table he picked the glass for her...

"Dev, main apna dhyaan khud rakh sakti hoon. Mujhe khud ki care karni aati hai!" Sonakshi told, as she tried sitting with a hurting back.

"Of course! I can see that!" Dev put both the pillows on the bed, behind Sonakshi, giving support to her...

"You can't see anything... I am absolutely fine!" She crossed her arms.

"Your back is hurting you, your doctor has asked you for a bed rest, you have taken maternity leave right from the mid of the fourth month; and still stressing... Is this how you are taking care of yourself and are absolutely fine?" Dev handed her, her glass of milk.

Sonakshi narrowed her eyes at him- "You are again stalking me, Mr. Dixit? I mean..."

"Before you start assuming, no I wasn't stalking; I came home directly from office. But your doctor herself called me to update me through your reports, since right from the start you had gone with me, ever since you found yourself pregnant." Dev clarified hurriedly.

Sonakshi looked down at the glass of milk that she hadn't even taken a sip of... "Sonakshi, I've brought milk for you to drink. It's not some watch glass that you will continue staring at..." he admonished her.

She quietly began drinking milk, when Dev got up and opened her cupboard to check something out... "Dev, what do you want from my cupboard? Kya kar rahe hain aap...?" Sonakshi angrily asked him...

Picking up the file from her cupboard, he left in a hurry, without even caring to give her response... Even her screaming behind him didn't budge him to stop...

A few hours later, when Sonakshi was up from her nap, was getting up from bed, when she could hear Dev come back... Probably talking about some loans... Intrigued, she walked down the staircase to see Dev and Bijoy talking calmly...

"Baba, there's nothing to get emotional about... Think practically! Sonakshi is on bed rest and wouldn't work for another eight-nine month, with this pregnancy and then the delivery... She is not earning as much to be able to pay monthly installments of the loan. Saurabh is still under the capital formation process... And baba, your pension must be running this household. If you will give all that away in installments, how are you going to run this household?" Dev explained pragmatically.

"Nahi Deb, par hum phir bhi tumhara ye ehsaan nahi le sakte... Pehle kya kam tamaashe hue hain..." Bijoy, though was not shouting, but still wasn't convinced of Dev.

"Baba, ye koi ehsaan nahi hai... I promise... If you think, aap log jab afford kar sakein, then return me the loan, but for now, please listen to me... I have bought all the loan on myself, it would be cleared... And please let me provide capital for Saurabh's business... You guys can always return it to me... But if you guys wouldn't have paid off the loans, ye ghar, Kolkata wala ghar, sab bik jaata baba... Kahan jaate aap log? Please baba... Mujhpe instead ye ehsaan kar deejiye... Please, meri baat maan leejiye!" Dev folded his palms to convince Bijoy.

Bijoy nodded, for the first time looking at the gem from the jeweler's eye... and Dev left towards Sonakshi's room, who was herself standing on the staircase, listening to them...

"Sonakshi, tumhe toh bed rest karne ko kaha tha na, kyu khadi ho yahan?" Dev gently pulled Sonakshi by her wrist and got her back to her room, into her bed...

He went to put the files back into her cupboard, while she was deep pondering- "Why didn't I think of paying off before mortgaging? How would I have paid, had Dev not well thought about it?" Sonakshi came out of her thoughts, with the tug on her chin...

"How long are you supposed to chew your lips so brutally? They might bleed if you keep doing this..." Dev admonished.

"Dev, I am sorry! I just never gave it a thought earlier about paying, and didn't understand your point even back there at home, and it created such a mess... I am sorry!" Sonakshi apologized, being both sorry and proud for he has always been this caring man forever...

"Ab tum shuru mat ho jaana Sonakshi... Main itna emotional atyachar nahi she sakta!" Dev told joking...

Sonakshi smiled herself, as she asked- "Dev aapse kuch poochoon? Aap yahan ek month se zyada hain... Kaise? I mean Maa?" Sonakshi trailed off...

Dev gave a rueful smile as he spoke-"Maa kaafi zyada excited thi tumhari pregnancy ka sunkar... Wo aayi bhi thi tumko lene... Khair, unko khaali haath lautna pada... Main jab bhi yahan se roz dhakke maar ke nikaala jaata tha toh maa phir se wahi raag shuru kar deti ke Sonakshi ko le aao, kyuki tum pregnant ho... Main bohot tension mein tha, isliye maine ghusse mein maa se bohot kuch keh diya..." Dev told...

Dev pushed her back, as she was trying to get up yet again- "Kya keh diya tha aapne?" she asked.

"I told her that she is just concerned about the baby and not about you... And I am very hurt with such behavior... How she never accepted you, her unreasonable behavior when she got to know about your infertility truth... Her thoughts that go nowhere beyond her own self... Her constant interference into our time in Shimla... How uncomfortable it got... And the most among all, thinking that her children are the best... I was astonished when I heard no scolding from maa for that slap that I unintentionally gave baba... I wanted her to drag me here along to ask for an apology... But nothing of that sort happened, and I made clear to maa that whenever you will come back, you will come there on your own free will and not some force... And I had vowed to earn apology from you all... That is the reason she isn't trying to bother, because of my anger..." Dev explained.

"I don't know what to say... Just that, Dev, thank you for everything and sorry too..." Sonakshi said.

"Don't be silly! Your family's mine as well, and taking care of them is my responsibility." Dev affirmed...

"Dev, I felt so hurt on all the things triggering one after the other... Humein sambhalne ka mauka hi nahi mila... Sonakshi was sadden.

Dev didn't stop Sonakshi from speaking and let her speak her heart out... He needed to know whatever kept hurting her... After all healing happens only when the wounds are known, and he let the hurt come to the fore... When she was finally done, did he explained... Her caressed her hair as he said- "Sonakshi rishte ho ya koi aur cheez, everything takes time... We jumped the guns without having patience... You too never felt comfortable about the things pertaining to this Bose House... You never shared your problems here, your business... It's okay... It's natural and will take its own time..."

Sonakshi nodded... But freezed when he continued- "Maa gave me an option to separate from the family and live with you, instead separating from you... It was so hurtful Sonakshi when in the living room you told tht it's all my mistake for whatever happened or is happening... Sonakshi, is that true?" he asked with a sudden sadness...

She bobbed her head negatively... She didn't like him sad, nevertheless, he continued- "Sonakshi, I have apologized to you many times for asking you to get out of my house... But didn't you understand my silence when you repeatedly kept asking me if I wanted you to leave or not... I was not responding because I was hurt that you could think that I can really want you to leave... Couldn't you for once tell me that you wouldn't leave because you are mine?" Dev asked...

Even Dev didn't know what took over Sonakshi... She started crying and if they were sudden feelings for dev or was that sona wanted to sleep in Dev's arms... She just asked him that, since she didn't sleep in his arms for days now... Dev gladly tucked her in his arms, and had been by her side throughout the night...

A few days later, Dev finally asked Sonakshi- "Sonakshi, if I ask you to come back home... will you come along?"

Her hormonal changes taking toll on her, she had tears in her eyes... she was crying... Wondering what wrong did he do, he kept pacifying her, but she didn't relent... What began from wet eyes became a full-fledged outburst- "Kabhi neha ka issue mere saath discuss nahi hota, kabhi riya ke liye galat ladka hai koi nahi maanta... Kabhi infertility, toh kabhi loan... Nobody cared to tell me anything Dev... Aisa lagta tha jaise ghar na hua sabzi market ho gaya... everyone bids their bargain, and I was that customer, who wasn't allowed to buy even when he could afford... How bad I felt when I was left out Dev, and almost deliberately by the members of that house only... No one called me for any important decisions, my opinion wasn't counted even when I was participating voluntarily... When nobody cared at midnight of your birthday, where I was at 12 midnight, when everyone was busy cutting the cake... When I was always a forced entry into the family picture of the house... How cheated I felt Dev, when all your promises needed to be broken the moment your mother entered the picture... How cheated I felt when I realized, I had nothing in my tummy when that fake pregnancy news came to me... And then Shimla, this crossed everything Dev... How do you think I react... And even after my parents' humiliation there, Dev, how could you just keep quiet when your mother suggested that we should separate... And how did you say that our love and marriage was a mistake... How could such words even come out of your mouth, asking me to leave before your entire family...?" both were in tears...

Dev wanted to hug her, when she put a hand in between them- "Dev, main bohot thak gayi hoon... Mujhe rest karna hai..." An exhausted Sonakshi slept away ...

A guilt ridden, a lost Dev moved out of the bose house with his bags... Nothing like he lost it, but because, despite the talking they weren't going anywhere in particular...

The next morning the call bell of Ishwari Niwas rang, Dev, having a halfhearted breakfast opened the door to see Sonakshi...

Seeing Dev losing last night, Sonakshi had realized that she also has stretched this thing like elastic when he was wooing... She rung the bell of Ishwari Niwas in her slightly bulging state and starts throwing tantrums on a stunned Dev who was not expecting her...

"Mr. Aubhodro! Tumi ek dom impossible... How rude of you... You don't have the manners to stay with your pregnant wife, helping her pack her stuff..." Sonakshi reprimanded him as she entered the house...

Walking few steps she turned around and shouted- "Dekh kya rahe hain, mera luggage andar laaiye..."

Sonakshi moved inside- "Kichhu bhaiyya!!!" Sonakshi shouted for the house help... "Please mujhe Gobhi ke paratha bana ke de dejiye, bohot bhook lag rahi hai..." Sonakshi plopped on the chair, carefully holding her tummy...

Dev rolled her luggage inside, while the entire family looked pleasantly surprised at her jovial behavior...

"Aise kya dekh rahi hain maa? Aisa bilkul mat samjhiye ki main aapko aise hi jaane doongi... Mujhe yaad hai badam ka halwa achha hai baby ke liye... Sab banwa ke khaaungi... Aur aapko banana padega..." Sonakshi told, sipping the juice, making a face... She didn't like it...

Ishwari was delighted- "Arre tu bas bol tujhe jo khaane ka mann hai, main sab banaaungi apni beti ke liye!"

"Puchka chahiye mujhe... Koi khila sakta hai?" Sonakshi asked with twinkling eyes...

"Puchka, ye kya hota hai beta? Amreeka ka koi pakwaan hai?" Ishwari asked worried...

"Arre nahi maa, Bengali log Pani puri ko Puchka bolte hain..." Nikki told...

"Par Sona, main tujhe baahar ki pani puri nahi khaane dungi... Ghar mein khaao ko khaana hai..." Ishwari reprimanded...

"Haan maa... aap jo kahengi, main maanungi..." Sonakshi told, absent mindedly rubbing her back...

"Doctor Bhabhi, aap paratha khaayengi ya puchka banaau?" Kichu came with the parathas Sonakshi wanted.

"Thank you Kichu bhaiyya, abhi toh yahi khaaungi..." Sonakshi assured...

Dev ran to his room while Sonakshi feasted over an extra paratha over the bonus of her baby, who was being force-fed by Ishwari...

Coming back to the room, Sonakshi could smell aromas... In the bathroom, Dev had arranged a hot bathtub for her, seeing her rubbing her back so often...

"Ehem, Mr. Dixit... Hot bath, aroma salts... Iraada kya hai?" she asked naughtily...

"Nek hai filhaal toh..." Dev had closed the bathroom door for themselves...

I have written towards my usual length...
Another point please Be noted that I have been dwindling between sleep and typing... Sometimes I also was trying to make sense in what I wrote...
