It was such an emotionally envolping chapter..frustration pain hurt was displayed at its best..Asha turned oit to b best healer for sona..wat a soulful deep yet simple conversation they had..Loved it ..As always subtleness was perfect

Oh I have mixed feeling about this one
As much as I liked a determined and focussed Dev
and was shit excited to see him strongly standing deciding to go after Sonakshi to Kolkata
But I honestly wasnt expecting others to join him..I thought he will be takig action on his own..Though I assumed this to be all serious and intense story but light touch of humour to it is nice..Its actually not easy to add such flavour..Pure Talent it is..Oh Dev LOL I can see some major blast happening from Sonakshi's side

Part 26

Sonakshi blinked. Dev blinked.

Tina blinked. Riya blinked. So did Neha and Ranveer.

Everyone stared.

They blinked again.

All this staring and blinking was becoming too much to handle.

Sonakshi had had enough of that. So she turned completely towards the door.

"Dev?

Dev was still stuck at staring.

Sonakshi's eyes skimmed over the rest.

"Neha. Riya, Tina aur Ranveer bhi?

The gang were brought back to reality faster than Dev. They snapped into action and pushed Dev into the room and then followed behind.

Dev stumbled into the room.

"Tum...

Sonakshi furrowed her brows.

"Main...?

Dev was still staring.

"Tum sagaai...nahin kar rahi?

Sonakshi looked absolutely bewildered.

"Main...sagaai? Par kissey?

Dev gave Sonakshi a Isn't-it-Obvious look

"Jatin se!

Elena turned from her seat at the dressing table.

"Sona mere boyfriend se Sagaai kyun karegi?

Dev turned to Elena. And he stared again.

Then he slowly said, "Tumhara boyfriend?

Everyone had their eyes trained on Dev.

Dev looked at Elena and then back at Sonakshi. Elena was the one who looked ready to be a bride in her elegant red saree. Not that Sonakshi didn't look as beautiful as a bride. She had always been beautiful to him. The soft yet fierce nature made everything beautiful about her. There she stood before him, looking confused as he stared right back. Her white and golden saree brought this ethereal glow to her appearance.

And this beauty wasn't going to be Jatin's. God how foolish he had been. He was aware that everyone was still looking at him. That he needed to react. So he did what he wanted to. He was so relieved. Sonakshi wasn't being taken away from him. He broke out into a smile. A genuine smile that conveyed his relief, his happiness, his love, his trust.

His trust.

He realised with a start that somewhere deep down he had always known Sonakshi wouldn't go away. He knew it. He trusted his love for her.

Wait. He did?

Dev's eyes widened. He did!

In three quick strides he was standing before her. He knew what he had to do. So he did it.

He threw his arms around her and hugged Sonakshi. He brought her as close to him as physically possible. He wanted to convey all his feelings through that hug. He wanted her to feel his fear. He wanted her to feel his ecstasy. Sonakshi stood very still in shock. She had not seen that coming. Her eyes were wide. But in a few minutes, she felt those feelings rolling off Dev. She slowly relaxed. And within moments her arms were around him too.

It was a feeling she couldn't explain. There were a lot of emotions swirling between them. Pain, love, trust and relief. It was that feeling of being home. Sonakshi gasped quietly when she realised that.

It felt like home. The home she had yearned for.

They had forgotten that they had an audience. Ranveer cleared his throat. Dev and Sonakshi jumped apart as if their arms were on fire. They looked at each other and then looked around.

Ranveer smiled, " Hum log bahar wait karte hai.

Elena was smiling at them.

"Sagaai toh meri hai. Par I think main aap logo ko 5 minute de sakti hoon! she said giggling.

"Tab tak aap log iss engagement ki real waali dulhan se bhi dosti kar lijiye.

Everyone snapped their heads towards the voice. Their eyes widened.

Asha stood at the door smiling at all of them. Everyone except Elena, who is giggling, looked like they had been caught stealing ice-cream.

Asha laughed at their expressions.

"Aiye

She motioned for them to come out. Before she closed the door on Dev and Sonakshi she looked at Dev and said.

"10 minute hai aapke paas Dev babu. Jo kehna hai, soch samajhke abhi kehna hai. Phir main personally aapko yahan se bahar le janey aungi she finished with a knowing smirk.

The gang's jaw hit the floor, while Dev stammered.

"J-ji Aunty.

Asha guided the gang into another room. Neha couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Aunty, aapko pata tha?

Asha turned to the group.

"Aaj ki duniya me bhai apni behen ko apni dost ke engagement party me akele toh janey dete hi hai, hai naah? Woh bhi same city main! she said, laughing.

All of them turned beet red.

Then she looked at Ranveer.

"Aur yahaan bhai toh ek hi tha. Dusra bhai toh nahin lagta! Ranveer started coughing, while Elena and Asha laughed away.

Tina, Riya and Neha just gaped.

Asha decided to end their misery.

"Tum sabko pehechanti hoon main. Sonakshi ke dost ho tum log. Dev babu ke bhi, hai naah? Tum sabki photos dikhai hai mujhey meri beti ne she said, smiling.

Before they had a chance to reply, Asha continued.

"Tum sabke baarey main mujhey Sonakshi ne detailed reports diya hai!

Ranveer immediately jumped in.

"Aunty hum yahan gadbad karne nahin aye the!

Neha followed.

"Hum buss Bhaiyya aur Sonakshi ki help karna chahte the!

Riya was next.

"Humey laga Bhaiyya aur Sona di ek dusrey ko kho dengey.

"Aur hum aisa nahin hone de sakte the! Tina finished.

Asha laughed again.

"Mujhey tum logo se yahi umeed thi.

The gang stared. And then all of them broke into relieved smiles. Asha was definitely on their side.

Elena suddenly said, " Kya aaj sab theek hoga?

Asha looked at all of them.

Both of them had been very quiet since the room had been vacated by the rest. Both of them had a lot of things to ask, to say. But it was like they'd forgotten how to string a sentence together.

Dev looked at Sonakshi. She had this unsure look in her eye. That somehow made him want to take charge of the situation. So he said the first thing that came to his mind.

"Main kitna darr gaya tha, pata hai?

Sonakshi's eyes snapped up towards Dev.

"Kyun?

Dev suddenly grew angry at Sonakshi's cluelessness.

"Kyunki tum mujhey bina bataye aa gayi. Upar se jab engagement!

Sonakshi was still not very clear about his words.

"Elena ke engagement ke barein me batake kya hota? Aur shayad aap bhool gaye hai ki hum lad rahey the, pichli baar.

Dev wanted to tear his hair out.

"Mujhey sirf itna pata tha ki tum engagement me ja rahi ho. Woh bhi Neha se pata chala, kyunki woh kisi kaam se airport gayi thi aur wahaan Mr. Shukla se mili.

He took a step towards her.

"Aur mujhey laga...laga ki tumhari engagement hai!

Understanding dawned in Sonakshi's eyes. Now she could comprehend his weird question, his turning up at this engagement. That hug of relief.

Wait, that hug!

He was scared! He was scared of losing her. Sonakshi stared at Dev.

Her mother had been correct in her assessment. She already knew that. But now that she could clearly see it, she understood it even better!

He didn't want to lose her! He heart jolted.

"Aa-aap yahan kya sochkar aye the? Aap kya karne aye the? she asked him with a curious look.

Dev looked like she'd lost her mind.

"Tum le jane aya tha main Sonakshi. Tumney soch bhi kaise liya ki mere rehtey main tumhey kisi aur ka hone deta!

He took a deep breath.

"Main. Aisa. Kabhi. Nahin. Hone. Deta he explained clearly.

Sonakshi's heart swelled. She could feel the tears coming. But this time she knew they weren't the sad ones.

"Tum soch bhi nahin sakti maine kal ki raat kaise bitayi.

Sonakshi kept looking at him while he ranted.

"Main bass sochta raha ki tum itni duur kaise chali gayi. Ki ab jo tum chali gayi, main kaise rahoonga? Kya karoonga?

He looked at her, eyes filled with pain.

"Main tumko khudsey duur karke ek din theek se nahin reh pawa. Ek din ki doori se pagal ho raha tha main. Poori Zindagi kaise bitata main?

Sonakshi opened her mouth to say something. Dev held his hand up.

"Nahin mujhey bolne do aaj.

Sonakshi snapped her mouth shut again.

"Pagal tha main, ki soch liya ki reh paunga tumharey bina he drew in a breath.

"Mujhey tumharey pyaar pe poora bharosa hai Sonakshi. Tumhey kabhi main doubt kar hi nahin sakta! he tried to emphasize, waving his hands around.

"Uss din pata nahin kaise sab galat nikal raha tha. I didn't mean it like you thought Dev breathed.

"I don't regret a single moment spent with you. Mere liye toh woh saarey pal mere life ke saarey treasured aur precious pal hai! he told her with a smile that conveyed exactly what those memories meant to him.

He then sighed deeply.

"Sach yeh hai ki, Main darta tha khudse Sonakshi. Darta tha ki kabhi main kuch aisa kar doonga jiske liye tum mujhey chhorke chali jaogi.

He fisted his hands.

"Isiliye issey pehley ki aisa kuch hota, maine khudko hi tumsey duur karne ka faisla le liya tha.

He looked at the floor.

"Natasha ki baatein toh sirf ek bahana tha. Mere dimmag me uss incident ke pehley se hi yeh darr panap raha tha!

He unclenched them again. Then he looked up at Sonakshi.

"Par Main galat tha Sonakshi. Aur tum sahi thi. Mere uss decision se tumhey bohot choth pohunchi.

Then he looked away from her, towards the balcony.

"Par ussey kahin zyada choth maine apneye aap ko pohunchaya.'

He laughed dryly, " Mujhey pata hai tum strong ho. Tum mere bina reh leti.

He looked back at her.

"Par main aisa nahin hoon. Main hi kamzor padh gaya. Tumhe jitni meri zaroorat hai ussey kai zyada mujhey tumhari zaroorat hai.

He paused. Taking another step towards Sonakshi he said, "Kyunki meri life ki khushi tum hi ho.

He kept his hands on her shoulder.

"Isiliye mujhey aur kisike baarein me nahin sochna. Main buss khudki sochunga. Main Chahta hoon ki tum mere paas raho. Main tumhey khudsey kabhi alag ahin karna Chahta.

Sonakshi looked at him. At his pain. At his happiness. At his sincerity.

"Aur agar aap phir darr gaye?

Dev gripped her shoulders tightly, " Toh tum uss darr ko duur karogi. Tum mujhey samjhaogi.

Sonakshi let her tears fall.

"D-Dev! Aapney yeh samajhne me itna time laga diya!

Dev did not expect those words to come out of Sonakshi's mouth. He had expected her to yell at that. But she surprised him.

He was so surprised that he started laughing. He laughed away, his glee showing through. Sonakshi smiled at him. He looked at Sonakshi smiling up at him, with those trusting, loving eyes. Then Dev did what he had been yearning to since that night at the party.

He bent his head down and captured her lips with his.

Sonakshi was shocked for a second, but her arms then slowly twisted around his neck. Dev bit Sonakshi's lip and she gasped. He deepened the kiss. His arms brought Sonakshi closer, if that was even possible.

And then there was a loud knock on the door.

"10 minute khatam ho gaye! they heard Asha yell.

They broke apart laughing. Dev rested his forehead on Sonakshi's.

"Toh Dr. Bose? Kya aap aapni poori life ke liye iss patient ko apni zimmedaari samjhengey?

Sonakshi giggled.

"Agar aap promise karte hai ki har baar baar darr ke nahin bhagengey!

Dev held his ears.

"Promise ma'am!

An hour later everyone sat in the garden waiting for Elena and Jatin to exchange rings. Everyone waited eagerly as Elena climbed the steps to the gazebo, where Jatin waited for her. After their moment in the room, everyone had barged in and demanded to know if all was right. On getting the answer from Dev's beaming smile and Sonakshi's shy one, they had erupted into a cheer.

Dev had been clapped in the back and Sonakshi had been showered with hugs and squeals. Jatin, Raunita and Saurabh had also joined in this time, after proper introductions of course. But then Sonakshi had shushed them all saying that she didn't want to steal Jatin and Elena's thunder and hence wanted no further discussions on this.

Dev had then gone onto profusely apologise to Jatin, Elena and Asha and everyone had erupted into laughter once again. But in the end, when Dev had secretly mouthed a "Thank you to Asha and she looked around at everyone's smiling faces, she knew everything would be just fine.

Jatin received Elena on the stage with a big smile on his face. And after a lot of cheers, hollers and hoots both had finally exchanged their rings.

Dev reached out to hold Sonakshi's hand when he saw Elena and Jatin happily gazing into each other's eyes. It was like the world didn't exist for them. It was just the two of them. Sonakshi looked at their intertwine hands and then turned to see what Dev was staring at.

She smiled and put her head on his shoulder. His grip tightened.

"Humari life easy nahin hogi Sonakshi.

She sat up and looked at him.

"Pata hai.

Dev looked at her.

" Bohot difficulties hongi. Ladaai hongi.

Sonakshi nodded, agreeing.

" Par humey himmat nahin harna hai Dev said determined.

Sonakshi smiled, " Apney pyaar par bharosa karna hai, aur agey badhna hai.

Dev sighed contented.

Now that he looked back, he didn't know what he was so scared of. Sonakshi was truly like his other half, understanding things before he even said them.

Now all he had to do was be happy, for the rest of their lives.

He looked around at everyone sitting there. Ranveer, Neha, Tina, Riya, Asha, Elena, Jatin, Raunita and Saurabh. They would get through it. Together.

Then he looked at Sonakshi.

Who cared?

She was there beside him. He already knew he would be effortlessly happy forever.

Superb chapter Mishti.

So finally Dev said what Sonakshi wanted to hear and they got together. I guess next will be a happy ending for this story.

On personal front i like Devakshi stories. Like same character names with different story. But will be audience of whatever you decide to write after this. :)
