Highlight of week 1 - "Welcome to Delhi Sona and Soha" and "Papa ko to kuch nahi mila 😭"

I am waiting to hear Dev speak "
Sonakshi" and for Sona to say "Dev" and I want to look in their eyes when they say their ex-es names. That for me will be the answer to the question - Do they still love each other?

I actually want to post my thoughts on Ishwari today. This is just my theory. We shall see

When Dev told Ishwari about his and sonakshi's love, she was quite disappointed in herself. She genuinely wanted to be happy for them and decided to overdose on the pills in an attempt to fall asleep before Dev comes home so that she doesn't have to face him.

In her defence she did not ask Dev to breakup with Sonakshi. She was always insecure about girls in Dev's life. But she also urged Dev to forget the past (Recall the very first episode). She was kind and liberal with GKB & Vicky, but not OTT. She was shocked when Dev agreed to buy Vicky a car. Its AFTER the break-up when she realised how nice it feels to be in that place and she started protecting her Goddess status. When Dev went crazy without Sona, Sona was still within Ishwari's means. She brought her bahu home for her son.

Now, Sonakshi bent backwards to accommodate Ishwari in their marriage. That clubbed with her old beliefs that the bahu needs to make all adjustments, led her to believe that Sona is the one who wrecked havoc to the mother-son relationship (by reaching her breakpoint!) . Which is why I believe there is no guilt or regret. Per-nup will do more damage and she will continue to blame sonakshi because in her opinion this is what is expected of bahus (and more so from givers like Sonakshi). Her attempts to prevent Sonakshi from following Dadi-bua's orders were also just an attempt to maintain her control (thanks Meg to showing me that angle during fake pregnancy track) on Sonakshi. SHE wanted to be the one deciding what HER bahu does... Who is dadi-bua to boss over Sonakshi? Dadi-bua can boss over Ishwari but not on Ishwari's bahu

Why has Ishwari never tried to bring Sona back? My guess is GKB must ensure no such thing happens. Or Dev himself has locked himself so much (remember she only sees him for a couple of minutes per week. My guess is he hardly ever sleeps in Ishwari niwas anymore) that Ishwari isnt jolted enough. Or that Sonakshi was un-reachable. She wont be able to find sonakshi without help from someone.

So, here's my take on Ishwari and her twisted ways.

Back in Devakshi land, lets await what colours of love the makers have in store for us. I cant wait to see Dev, Soha and Sona dancing in the rain some day. Meanwhile, sometimes, Love hurts. 💔

PS: Did anyone notice Soha sleeps on Dev's side of the bed?

I would wait for the episode to play out tonight. Sharing the questions in my head based on pre-cap :
1) Why did Dev start slamming Sonakshi's door? Did returning the award provoke him or he is completely drunk and viewers have seen what happens when Dev is sloshed and Sonakshi is anywhere close! 😃
2) Though Sonakshi calls the police, is Dev Dixit arrested?
3) Who comes for bail to get him out of jail? Ishwari and Mamaji or Vicky too?
4) Does Sonakshi tell Soha who that was if Soha asks her that question? Or is Soha sleeping soundly?
5) Would Geni call up Bijoy and give details of this incident?
6) Will Sonakshi meet Ishwari? The typical 'Maa' dialogue where Sonakshi gives it away and says - Abhi toh main bhi maa hoon! 😛
7) Will Sonakshi go back to Kolkata or Elena meets Sonakshi?

👏 👏

What a turn of events? Where is the script headed?

Thanks for opening the thread, DQ! This weekend has been chic-a-block full of activities, so I haven't been able to do much besides stalk and like, but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the discussions.

@Malika: Welcome to the forum! It's so great to see you here, particularly because this show, post-leap is giving me some strong PNMBD feels and I didn't know anyone else who would get that reference. 😛

I really liked your point in the last thread about the role reversal between Sona and Ishwari. It's true that Sona is offering Soha the option of meeting her dad, but then Ishwari always told Dev she was okay with his marrying Sona, and genuinely tried to be. It was only through her actions that she expressed otherwise. I do see the similarity in Sona now, and since I never really hated Ishwari, I am not uncomfortable with that. It seems natural, given that both of them are single mothers, facing threats to that singular bond that they have with their child, their primary form of validation.

At this point, I do see Sona's behaviour mirroring Ishwari's. It remains to be seen if she goes down Ishwari's path of letting her insecurities consume her, or she manages to overcome them for her child's ultimate happiness.

@DQ: Excellent analysis of Ishwari! People start to define something when it isn't the norm anymore. She didn't think about her place in Dev's life before Sona because it was so second nature that she was Dev's whole world. When Sona came, it's not like she challenged Ishwari's norm directly, but she brought something new and contrasting into the picture. This caused Ishwari to question what exactly her relationship to Dev was, and instead of just existing in a reality taken for granted, she felt the need to articulate repeatedly and in multiple ways, that she was Dev's entire world. Dev, on the other hand, kept acting in ways that contradicted this assertion, because he genuinely loved Sona and she was just as important in his world as Ishwari. In the end, Ishwari made it all or nothing and Dev turned around and gave her all *and* nothing.

@Sam, Sona mirroring Ishwari quote from you is funny.
Sona is giving rights to a 6 year old (I don't think she is the kind to clutch onto Soha and will allow her to bond with Dev)

Ishwari was sckeptical of Dev bonding to a very nice human being Sona coz it would affect her goddess image. Sona is skeptical of Soha bonding with Dev but does not show. She is not even doing any brainwashing. I am dead sure she will give leeway to Soha to bond with Dev and come back.

I do not see much validity in calling them both single mothers and hence clutching to their children.. Sona is poles apart from Ishwari.

2 more observations from last week
1. The jhula is still there. It's barren. In that background. To me that jhula is Dev's way of keeping time still. Just like he keeps his mother's struggles' memorabilia in that cupboard in his room.
2. Thanks to meg, she pointed that Dev doesn't say "sonakshi" in his office. I went back to watch that scene. He said "kyunki sonakshi meri ex wife hai" . Humm. Thanks meg. I saw pain on his face when he said that sentence. Or was it nonchalance?

I woukd also like to discuss about Ishwari . Though I do have likes and dislikes for characters both reel and real, I never hated any characters in my life...Ish is the first fictional character I Hate...I don't think she has done anything extra ordinary to her children...this is how parents take care of their children and struggle differ to the different layers of the society...since at that time she belonged to the lower strata and being illiterate she did manual work to meet the requirements of her family...an educated single mother who works in an office is no way subservient to what she has done...top it all she has been extremely partial with her kids...though parents dont admit, there is subtle partiality which is there due to the inherent human nature, but she has crossed all boundaries...I salute Devakshi for not retaliating when she repeatedly said Dev shouldn't forget old rtns and his responsibilities due to new rtns...how mean and cringeworhhy is that?...how she manipulated Dev to forgo honeymoon under the pretext of Neha while underlying reason was her? What justification she has for not accepting Sona in the family but to give undue privileges to her babhi? I was searching for a single scene in the entire serial for me to sympathise with her...Alas I miserably failed...

Thanks Chitra Di for putting my exact thoughts into words...
All the parents in the world struggle to provide a better life to their children but that does not mean they expect the children to pay them back for their struggles like a loan that has to be repayed!
She considers her struggles as a loan and expect dev to keep paying instalments throughout his life!
I can understand she couldn't provide for Neha's education due to limited means but she could have given equal love...love for her children wasn't dependent on their financial backing!
Parents do have partiality but this is out and open differentiation...and then bit that irks me the most is she has never allowed the siblings to bond and have a relation independent of her.
She hasn't even given her kids the freedom to enjoy or talk openly or for that matter Haq jatao on their brother(which she so openly does)...all this is independent on the financials
she could have easily lessened Neha's suffering by just giving her extra love
No mother does it and she takes so much pride being a mother
