Seen the new promo?
I must confess the new promo is not only well shot but also very appealing and intriguing for us all.
For new audience who will just join, it may be just two people who knew each other and the sparks which fly when they see each other again..
But for us, who have witnessed DevAkshi evolving with love each day, this promo was quite a revelation.
Revelation or maybe just a vague outline of what we might see in the future. Let us come to the promo later, first the End of a phase in DevAkshi's life.

Phase 1 was all about falling in love, relationships and most importantly the weaknesses that destroy everything in the world of love.
Ego, Money, Lack of trust, miscommunication, third person, antagonists, culture barriers.
You think about it, DevAkshi faced it all. Their love was unshakeable. .but the effect of all this kept building up.
One day, all hell broke loose. When ego comes in, it kicks out Love. Where there is no trust, survival together is not possible.
I remember a line one wise elder shared with me
"When chosing a life partner don't see if you cannot live without him, see that you can live with him"

I never truly believed in this much practical ideology, after seeing DevAkshi, I do now. Dev was scared to lose Sonakshi always, we literally saw him breathless when she was away but what when she lived with him?
So many external factors affected their relationship every single day, they were at peace only when they were away from the world, because then it was unadulterated love. Unfortunately, this is not how the world works.
They pushed the odds each day to be together but the foundation of their relationship lacked basic necessities. It had to break.

The last episode before the leap showed how tired both Dev and Sonakshi were. Tired of even trying. When Sonakshi was thrown out of her house, she tried talking to him once and soon after reached to the conclusion that Dev had done it intentionally.
Even though Dev always had the tendency to be this egoistic destructor, Sona should have had that trust on him.
Meanwhile, here Dev was all about himself. .and his mother ofcourse."how could you do this to my mother"
"You crossed the borders of my love"
"Tumne sab khatm kar diya"
He kept saying this to himself.

Neither Dev nor Sona at that moment had given up on their relationship. Sonakshi had decided to fight with him, not separate. While, when Ishwari asked him to get the prenup signed or else continue with his relationship, only if he was sure it would sustain forever, he was confident that given one more chance, they would be together forever.

The prenup came in, totally opposite of how we all expected it to be. Instead of shaking Ishwari's grounds, it shook Devakshi's. How cleverly Ish made it all about her again that Dev hurt her by destroying Sonakshi's house. The horror on Dev's face when Ishwari said that Sona was blaming her for all the troubles showed how Dev was shocked that Sonakshi and Ishwari's relationship had come to this.
I feel bad for Dev, because when life brought before him the reality of his family, he was not in his senses to unde rstand anything.
Prenup was the end for Sonakshi. Dev , a sharp businessman, being manipulated like this by his own family was obviously unimaginable for her. Dev tried to explain how it was all just worthless paper. She did not listen.
She goes on to sign them.
"Apne paise apne paas rakho"
"Tum sun nahi rahi ho, maa ne mujhe decision lene ko kaha aur maine kaha k humein ek aur chance dena chahiye"
"Apne mera decision to pucha h nahi"
And that was the end for Dev.
He was fed up of trying, of fighting for their love everyday. Specially when what you are fighting for isn't strong enough.
"Mujhe lagta tha ap mujhse pyar karte the..."

She questioned his love. Made a mockery of the only thing he had for her, infinitely. .
"Ye pyaar hota hai..to duniya k sare rishte jhoote hai"
His trust on love, on relationships has gone. They said Love was a beautiful feeling, that it was all rosy in love, they never told him love was also a carpet of thorns, that if love had the power to make your heart flutter, it also had the power to make it weep. That the journey never ends after you are with your love, but it intensifies to keep it with you sometimes.
The moment Dev decided this institution of marriage, this idea of love wasn't perfect, wasn't meant for him, he started blabbering all those sentences that GKB and Ishwari had planted in his mind.
Did he mean them? Obviously not. Neither was it his way to distance Sonakshi. Dev was convincing himself. Convincing himself that all the fluffy things were just mush. That goodness never existed. That his relationship with Sona was an illusion and all of it was based on money, duties and all the brutal aspects of life.
"Tumne achi bahu ban ne ka natak bhi kiya"
"Tumne mera ghar tod diya"
"Tumne mujhse paiso ke liye shadi ki"
"Tumne maa ban ne ki bhi duty puri nahi ki"
All of it was for himself. To break all his colorful dreams of loving happily with her.

Then he said,
"Tum kabhi itne paise nahi kama sakti"
Here you go. Foundation laid for leap. Sonakshi will be a businesswoman, well earning and well established.
"Acha hai tum maa nahi ban sakti, tum kabhi achchci maa nahi ban pati"
There is nothing more worse for a girl than hearing this. Not only will Sonakshi be a mother after 7 years, she will a good mother. Achchi maa.
Dev's words pinched Sonakshi.

In her reply Sona says,
"Ye jo aap rishto aur bharose ka mazak bana rahe ho, ye apko zindagi me kabhi nahi milega."
"Aap zindagi bhar akele hi rahenge"
And this hit him hard. To prove her wrong he will indulge in all the wrong things. To prove that he won't be suffering, that he won't live alone. That her absence would not make much of a difference in his life, afterall it was not 'love'
He will turn reckless, a flirt. (I honestly feel, casanova is an overrated term for Dev. He would never indulge in infidelity)

On this bitter note, they give up on their love. Hoping that thry could escape it by getting busy in life. In their own ways.
7 years have gone by, they have moved on (or only look like they have moved on!) But why exactly are they doing all this?
Leaving their true personalities aside, they are being someone else only to prove each other that survival without them is possible.
It is only for each other.
After 7 years , when they are around each other...Dev is all flirtatious, pretending to be a carefree casanova, that he has forgotten Sona completely, but he did not leave any chance to glance at Sona.
Even when that girl was all over him, all he wanted to see was if Sonakshi was looking at him. And was she affected.
Here, Sonakshi looks at Dev eating Icecream from the girl's hands, pretends to be okay and move on, her daughter waiting to feed her icecream.
This in itself was a big symbolism that Suhana would try to fill the void that Dev's absence has created while Dev would want to fill it by being a loafer😆 obviously he will fail at it.😆

7 years is no short time, still you saw how they both are so affected by each other's words and presence. You cannot escape love, you fools!😳
Super excited for Monday😃 Sorry for my rant😳
P.S Phase 2 will be all about overcoming all those weakness which just came out in Phase 1. It is not a new beginning because the end never happened!

Hey
This is your best post ever. And thank you for writing. I had been wanting to say all this for the last 24 hours and didn't know how many of us here will take to this view point.

I have nothing to add. The way he checks the mirror and the way she forgets about her daughter's ice cream for a split second says it all.

Looking forward to more pyar ke rang

Aap pyar se bhag nahi saktee miss Bose. That scene has been playing in my head all the time. It was kind of spooky to see your post with that title

Saumiee your post is like insight. Seriously i was so confused about the last episode and now after reading this perspective I am able to think lot of things. Specially the last scene that you described. Its like fog has started clearing. I will be able to look at this leap in different perspective now. So thanks a lot for this post.

Ps- Just by reading your title, Devakshi's dialogue came into my mind. Pyar se bhagna itna aasan nahi hai miss khargosh. Oh i am gonna miss them.

I should add, now I am no longer surprised to see the "I care a damn" Dev.

I always thought it was because Ish threatened him that if I see you like this again I shall punish you and me and will leave you and go. In that case he is still behaving exactly like Ish wants him to.

Wonder what will drive a wedge between Dev and Ishwari. Did the prenup open his eyes or shatter him even more?

Would love your views on this.

I couldn't muster the courage to watch the last two episodes! But your post clarifies Devakshi's turmoil and actions! I will still skip watching them and start afresh with Season 2. The promos will definitely attract new viewers and bring some disappointed fans back. Hoping for a good run for this sequel.

You know Saumie, since Friday I was reading a post on people saying that Dev said those harsh words to push Sonakshi away so that she can be happy.

I didn't think that made sense. Because Dev was not sober when he said those things. He was drunk and past examples has shown that he speaks what he believes is the truth when he is drunk. He also forgets every thing he said the next morning. Now I don't know if CV will remain consistent with their script.

Anyhoo, the point is that your post makes more sense to me.

Dev did say those things to Sonakshi and he meant it.

However what he said was the lowest blow anyone can give to a woman. Only a woman knows that how it feels when someone puts her self-respect, self-worth and her womanhood in question specially the man for whom she fought the world, her own family, her self-respect and put up with insults and humiliation.

Dev had done NOTHING in comparison to what Sonakshi had done for him.

One thing people kept bringing up as an example of Dev being a good husband is that he married Sonakshi despite knowing about her infertility. But by putting pressure on her for fertility treatment at his mother's whim when Sonakshi was at her own lowest point and her heart was broken, not to mention by throwing her infertility in her face, he even negated that little bit of claim at being a good husband.

So sorry when I can't call him a loving husband or even a decent human being.

He had the guts to love but he didn't have the guts to stand up for that love.

So whether he is flirting with other girls to show off or actually having full-blown affairs are least of my concern.

All I know that Dev can only offer a woman money (which he has plenty of and which is the only thing Ishwari doesn't disapprove as long as the charity stays outside. He can't offer a woman which Ishwari doesn't put her stamp of approval on) and those women want his money. So that is a perfect match.

Sonakshi and him were never a good match. What she needed, he didn't have Ishwari's approval to commit. Even his baby came with Ishwari's approval stamp as a condition. It was never Sonakshi and Dev's marriage, it was Ishwari's marriage enacted by Dev and Sonakshi.
