This is true in life. When different people are shown a half glass of water, not everyone see it the same way. Some see half glass of water, some half empty, some may even say what difference does it make. It all depends on that persons state of mind, what he has seen in his life till then and what he has learnt. It is said that when a person is faced with extreme emotional situation, it either makes them or breaks them.
One of my uncle could not continue with this studies because he could not come out of the shock of his fathers death in his 12th grade. But my husband went ahead to fulfill the dreams of his grandmother, studied hard and did everything when he lost his father around the same time.
For some what they are showing might seem unreal, that educated people do not behave this way or these kind of things do not happen in 21st century. But for some this is real, it does happen even today, even outside India.
There was a news a few months ago regarding a woman who had hid her daughter in a closet for 14 yrs. Her boyfriend of 2 yrs was shocked to know that she had a daughter. Cause even though he regularly visited her or stayed there, he never once saw her or even the trace of her. And she lived in an apartment...
Another news said that this girl wanted to marry her mother's killer as she was convinced that he did because he loved her. The mother did not like him because he was a criminal and she had warned him to stay away from her daughter. But this guy did not like that. So he killed her, went to the girl, told he did it for her so that they can be together. While he awaited trial, he and that girl got married. She is now waiting for his release.
Another real life story I read was about Anorexia Nervosa (it is a eating disorder). In that the author talks about how her daughter changed. Till the daughter was 11 - 12 yrs old, she was hale and hearty, used to love to eat, burger and pizza were her favorites food. But then suddenly she changed and started dieting to the extent that she would eat like 2-3 grapes for breakfast. Would not eat in school. By 14, she had suffered a heart attack. The parents had to literally stay with her round the clock, to force her to eat something and also to make sure that she did not throw up immediately after eating. Was she not a good girl. She was. She was doing well in school, loved by her friends and teachers, she was an overall great kid. But nevertheless this did happen with her. The girl who loved eating took this 360 turn... How or why it happens the docs cannot explain it.
Recently a boy in our neighborhood died of choking. He was in 11th grade, a straight A student, who was once again liked by everyone who knew him. His parents trusted him. They jut left him for an hour alone at home to go to get something. When they came home, they found him dead. When the police investigated, they found that he had participated in an internet game called "choking game"(it is all called as the good kids high) and had suffocated himself. Is there any logical explanation as to why a smart kid who do something like this.
None of these make sense. But they do happen. All of the above happened in U. S.
it is very true that sometimes a person loses the capacity to think straight. It can happen to the best of us. When that happens we should give that person the benefit of doubt. Not everything is black and white. Some times it is not even different shades of grey. It can be an altogether a very different color.
I am not saying what Dev, Ishwari, Sonakshi or any of the characters are doing is correct. All I am saying is these things do happen.
Should the society change -- yes. But this change is gradual. It will not happen in a day, month or maybe even a decade. Also these changes are all not in the same speed. They occur in different times. Any show should be watched with a grain of salt. They do take these scenarios/events from real life. It may not be the life some have seen and some haven't.
We need to give the CVs time to execute their story and not expect everything to happen in that one episode. We still have some/long(not sure how much longer this series is) to go to actually see what they are trying to say...
Just wanted to share my thoughts. Did not mean to hurt anyone...
