I'd begin with saying that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE reading your posts. Your thought process, your views and the way you put across things is just so sensible and admirable. Kudos for the good job! Agreed with everything you have said.
Seriously, I'm so annoyed with this show that I can't even recognise the characters I used to like so much. I just watch the episodes when I can, come over, read and some posts and leave. I wanted to comment today because this Ishwari glorification in the name of 'ideal' mother-son relationship was beyond my tolerance. 😆 Let alone mothers, people who aren't even mothers themselves will understand that the kind of relationship Ishwari and Dev share is unhealthy to say the least. I'd say it's toxic but then I understand where the characters come from and hence, chose to stick to unhealthy. We don't even need to go beyond the show into real life, Asha is a FAR better example of a good mother. Ishwari acts as if she's the ONLY mother in the world. She said it right though, she's ONLY Dev's mother. Neha, Ria and Nikki mean squat to her. Neha didn't even feel a family member enough to join the group hug.
I was actually looking forward to today's episode assuming it would serve Ishwari a lesson but alas, she ends up having the last say/laugh, always. I totally mirrored Bijoy's reaction throughout the episode as apposed to every character who was shedding tears because honestly, I don't think anyone other than Bijoy truly understands Ishwari. Had that speech been just out of pure love for her son, I would have loved it. But more than anything else it was a means to taunt Sona and show her how she will always have an upper hand no matter what. The 'only a mother' can understand a mother will hit Sona badly when she discovers about her minimal-to-nil chances of conceiving. It's awful how a genuinely beautiful person like Sona gets treated this way as if she's the worst possible bahu there could be.
Dev continues to be a disappointment to me, no growth in his character whatsoever. The only reason he called Asha 'maa' today was to save his family's reputation and his own neck in front of the guests. Had it been a gesture done straight out of heart and respect for Asha, Dev wouldn't have turned to look at Ishwari for her approval. She nodded because beta ne pariwaar ki izzat bacha li.
All said, I still like this show because it's atleast close to reality. However, the absolute lack of growth in characters is a huge let down.
