ONE RAINY DAY ...

Chapter 2:

August 16, 2016, 10 AM: Mumbai

Dev:

Dev and Ria landed at Mumbai and the rest of their four member team had reached the previous night. Dev asked Ria "I hope Ayan does not have a problem with you being away for a week on work?". Ria replied "Bhaiya don't be silly he of course how important this work is for me and you". They got into the car and decided to go to work straight. As the day progressed, Ria and Tina noticed that Dev was looking very tired and at 5 PM when they decided to break for the day from negotiations, Ria told Dev "I think Bhaiya you go to the hotel and rest for a while. You are not looking well and you need to be fresh for tomorrow's negotiations with the Mehras. You have not been sleeping and eating properly for the last ten days". Dev actually agreed to her and told her "I am going to the hotel now and will send the car back to you. We can discuss the pending matters over dinner". Dev went to the hotel and checked in and got into the room - he was unusually tired. He took off his jacket and tie and decided to rest for a while before taking a shower. He just lay down on the bed and fell into deep sleep.

Dev woke up at 7 PM and realised that the room was dark. He switched on the bedside lamp and was about to get up when his head reeled and he fell down. He just passed out and his last thought before he lost consciousness was that about the meeting next day.

Around 9 PM, Ria was pacing outside Dev's room and was getting worried. She tried calling Dev for the nth time and when he didn't open the door, she decided to get help. She went to the reception and informed the Manager there that she was worried. Hesitantly the Manager agreed to open the door with the master key. Meanwhile Ria called Tina as well. As the Manager opened the door with the Master key and walked hesitantly inside calling out "Mr. Dixit - are u there?". Ria and Tina walked in slowly into a dark room only lit by one of the bedside lamps when she realised that Dev had falled by the side of the bed and appeared unconscious. "Oh by god, Bhaiya ...whats happened to you? Bhaiya please get up" she screamed.

Tina immediately told the Manager to call for an ambulance and she immediately called the Dixit's family doctor who in turn managed to contact the head of the nearby Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and arranged for a senior to be available as soon as got Dev there. The ambulance arrived and Ria went with Dev in the ambulance and Tina followed in a car. As they arrived and wheeled Dev into the emergency, Tina spoke to the senior Doctor " Please doctor we don't want any press here so keep Dev Dixit's admission here confidential as he is a prominent businessman and he is in Mumbai in connection with a business acquisition and there is a lot at stake. I hope you understand. We also want only the most trusted of doctors to be taking care of him please". Doctor Sharma spoke up "Ms. Tina don't worry at all. We understand and we pride ourselves for the quality of service and care". Thanking him Tina moved to the emergency room area where she spotted Ria. She went upto her and held her hands and said "Don't worry - Dev sir will be alright". Just then the Doctor on duty came out and called out to the nurse "Ask Dr. Bose to come immediately - there is an emergency here".

Sonakshi was done for the day and was leaving from the Hospital when the phone on her desk rang. She picked it up and then rushed to the emergency room. When she reached the emergency room, there were many persons around as an accident victim had just been brought in. She rushed in and met Doctor Sharma who was on duty. The Doctor explained " We have a patient here - a young businessman from Delhi - who collapsed in his hotel room. His blood pressure is very low and he has probably not eaten or slept properly for the last ten days or so. The main cause of his collapse is probably exhaustion. His sister is waiting outside. She is the one who brought him. He is some kind of a hot shot businessman who was here for some acquisition or business deal so they have requested for confidentiality. You would have to take care of his diet as in this case it would be very critical and in this scenario I cannot trust anyone else.I hope you undertstand". Sonakshi nodded and said "Thanks for trusting me. I will take care of this patient. Can I take a look at him now?". Dr. Sharma moved aside and said of course - his reports are also kept on the table by the said. Take a look at him while I see what has been done about the room".

Sonakshi moved the curtain and picked up the basic reports and readings kept on the bedside table and finally looked up at the patient and she was shocked. She had to hold the rails of the bed and she told herself "It cannot be Dev.. Oh god".
