It seems I am not being able to paint a decent enough picture with my posts.
So today I will write a story.

Once upon a time, there were two friends. The gender is not important. Let's just call them A & B.

They decided to be with each other forever.

One day, A took B into a minefield but promised that A will never leave B's hand and with A's help, B will get through it.

So trusting A's promise B entered minefield. B almost tripped once or twice, but A caught B on time. Some of them even tried to pull a wire to make B fall.

But the very next day of B entering the minefield, while B was still learning the map of the field, A left B's hand in a huff leaving B to navigate the minefield alone.

The people who had set the mines, started screaming directions to B all at the same time.

B kept getting confused and kept running through the maze like minefield where each wrong move can blow up on B's face.

All the while hoping A, the person who got B into the maze, would at least be there for one day, let alone whole life to ease B's way around this minefield.

But A is no where around. Once B is in the minefield, mission accomplished. A no longer needs to be with B or see to B's comfort. Although if B decides to leave in a huff like A and refuses to re-enter the maze, A will have plenty to say then.

Now you all know what I am talking about. Would you consider A a good partner now that A is a genderless, faceless, nameless entity?

This is called gender perception which is the biggest barrier to gender equality.

P.S. For analysis on C, see http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4728095&PID=137619950&#p137619950

I agree with everything.. But A thinks B is strong and can handle anything (B gave a demo the same day that it can) and doesn't need anyone's support

A may really have some urgent work and besides A was upset for his own reasons..

Now C comes and warns B not to enter the minefield... B should have listened to C and stayed out...

IF B still enters the minefield ,, it will be at its own risk..

Lastly B has been in this minefield for way too long and it is not like it is all too new... yes may be a couple of new mines have been set here and there... but still it is not like 100% new minefield

Hi, seriously I was also thinkg the same. Considerg Dev knows the cultural differences BTW both the families why he didn't prepare sons for it. The mist irritating part was when he left for office leavg sons behind to deal with the rituals all alone. Very disappointed with today's episode

A was upset with A's own reasons and A has really urgent work. Good thought. Now if I tell you B is a man and A is a woman, would you still give the same logic or the statement will now change according to the gender?

Re-read your post with the gender reversal and please do post your thoughts.

Isn't it so convenient that he gets to escape to his work while he is not even dealing with all the insults. I wish Sona got to escape to her home or her work as well. But then that would be another issue that, One day after the wedding, the bride left her in-laws for work." Double standard, like I said.

Absolutely, my logic doest care about gender... it applies to both..
I wouldnt blame a woman if she has urgent work and had to go work on the second day of wedding. I strongly believe in gender equality... i wouldnt budge for anything less than 50-50% partnership in my real life.

dev' s family is actually too conservative. I also did not like the dialogue where ishwari was sayg that dev never fails. For godnesss sake she is his wife. Why would she let him down.

You wouldn't. But what do you think all the Cs will have to say? And what do you think B would reply to that when B has no idea why A left suddenly? A didn't tell B that A has to leave for urgent work. A just left in a huff like a petulant child who didn't have his way.

Besides, how does urgent work crop up conveniently right after Dev gets upset? Where was urgent work until then? It was a temper tantrum, period.

Asking someone to leave everything behind is a big deal which our society trivialises. That comes with responsibilities.

Regardless how often you have visited before, the situation is never the same. Because when you visit, you can leave when you don't like how you are treated. The situation after the marriage is a lot different.

I won't blame Sona if after all this, she just refuses to live with Dev's family.

Why does Dev's honour lies with his wife's ability to perform? Does his wife's honour lies with Dev's ability to perform the duties of her husband? Well, then she just lost her honour today.
