Before I begin, a disclaimer: I have never watched this show, and I don't plan to either. But I'm drawn to stories, interesting characters, and controversial debates. So I guess that's another reason why this post was inevitable. All my knowledge of these characters comes from this thread alone, so please feel free to correct me if I've misunderstood something.

I want to focus on Sona because from what I understand, Dev n Ishwari have stayed pretty much consistent with their character graphs and hers is the one that seems contradictory.

At some point in your post, you asked why only the leads have to be portrayed as good and not the parallel leads? They can be good too. I would like to ask a similar question. Why do only Dev and Ishwari get to have weak n selfish moments? Why not Sona too? Why can't she display moments of obsession where she leaves her engagement incomplete to drop her drunk ex-lover home? To me, it is actually behavior like this that rounds out her character and justifies why she would ever fall for a man like Dev. Because she is as indulgent of him as he is of his mother.

The answer lies in the promos, Sonakshi was projected very differently then what is being displayed in the show. After the breakup what ever is show is actually going against the promos. I am completely ok with Sonakshi's reaction they are to some extent practical but at the same time not what was promised before the show began - I think that is where folks are annoyed.

It was a MUTUAL breakup in the promo but the show displayed one sided breakup from Dev. Infact even Dev was shown behaving very maturely in the promo in terms of break up - this stalking, breaking in to dates and engagement was never there.

Sonakshi and Dev have every right to have emotional turmoil but all our issues are with all the dramatics involved - slightly childish.

This doesn't make her stupid. Just not very objective in love. Pretty much exactly like Dev n Ishwari.

A different woman would've made different choices. Like having the courage to tell her parents she's not ready to move on even if it hurts them. Like telling her ex-lover she wants nothing to do with him and "NO" he cannot attend her engagement because that could ruin things for her. But you see, such a woman, she would never choose Dev either. Such a catch-22 for the writers.

Does this make her a hypocrite? Maybe, but then again, so is everyone. 😛

I too am disappointed with current track when the serial is moving towards OTT drama and running far away from the initial promos. I too hated to see Sona not giving a damn abt her family, drunken Dev is too OTT n Ish is beyond comprehension now but I am willing to invest more time on the show bcoz I still have some hopes left n bcoz no other serial can even close to this show.

The episodes have been top notch in terms of the dramatic element(😆😆 too much drama mahnnn!),but in terms of the reality quotient, they haven't been what they should have been. I mean no one calls their ex to their engagement, specially when you are aware of the volatility of the situation. And please , by seeing your ex with whom you're still very much in love, move on with someone else, you cannot expect the person in question to feel elated and have the rationale to behave in the manner required. Come-on it's not a pre designed program that will give you a output you intend to see. How stupid!

And it could have been way much better without the engagement drama cause honestly involving a nice man like ritwik and his family in this mess was just so not required. I mean that ls ridiculous. Things are messed up with the Boses and Dixits, why involve a third fmaily who has nothing to gain but quite a lot to lose from this forced situation?

I guess ritwik was too nice and ideal a person to be shown cause very honestly people like ritwik are extremely hard to find these days and certainly even if they are there, they surely don't deserve this treatment.

yes Rithvik was too nice but I guess he too had a break up so that's why, may be, he could Sona's state and her turmoil n hurt...If you gone thru same thing you understand it better

The entire mahaepisode was to showcase the vulnerability of both the leads, which I definitely can try to understand but then insulting ritwik and his family unnecessarily doesnt make sense at all.

And I guess it's high time both ishwari and bijoy learn to discuss things with sona and dev before just assuming that their children are FINE just cause they happen to react the way they want them to react. I understand bijoy as a father had been extremely worried about her future but this is what happens when you rush things. Situations get messier and even more complicated.

And ishwari is beyond any judgement. She is in a world of her own. High time she woke up and realised the gravity of te mess she has put herself and her family into.

he asked his daughter many times and she was okay wid that and I am sure if she has said that she needs time he wud hv supported her but alas Sona gave commitment and then at last moment spoiled everything so she is to be blamed I guess

And about kuch rang, I agree sona should have backed out when given a chance by asha. See even if she was under the pressure of saying a yes and move on in life, I feel the conversation with asha that she had prior to the engagement should have been taken more seriously by her. I agree I agree😆
