@TM: Objectively, I both like n agree with your post. However, I feel like someone needs to play devil's advocate here cuz there hasn't been sufficient sensible debating of all of your valid arguments amid all this name calling and finger pointing. Because I'm not emotionally invested in the characters, I guess am gonna volunteer myself to do the honors. 😳
Before I begin, a disclaimer: I have never watched this show, and I don't plan to either. But I'm drawn to stories, interesting characters, and controversial debates. So I guess that's another reason why this post was inevitable. All my knowledge of these characters comes from this thread alone, so please feel free to correct me if I've misunderstood something.

I want to focus on Sona because from what I understand, Dev n Ishwari have stayed pretty much consistent with their character graphs and hers is the one that seems contradictory.

At some point in your post, you asked why only the leads have to be portrayed as good and not the parallel leads? They can be good too. I would like to ask a similar question. Why do only Dev and Ishwari get to have weak n selfish moments? Why not Sona too? Why can't she display moments of obsession where she leaves her engagement incomplete to drop her drunk ex-lover home? To me, it is actually behavior like this that rounds out her character and justifies why she would ever fall for a man like Dev. Because she is as indulgent of him as he is of his mother.

This doesn't make her stupid. Just not very objective in love. Pretty much exactly like Dev n Ishwari.
A different woman would've made different choices. Like having the courage to tell her parents she's not ready to move on even if it hurts them. Like telling her ex-lover she wants nothing to do with him and "NO" he cannot attend her engagement because that could ruin things for her. But you see, such a woman, she would never choose Dev either. Such a catch-22 for the writers.
Does this make her a hypocrite? Maybe, but then again, so is everyone. 😛

P.S.: Tag. You're it (you know who you are😉😛).

Interesting post and interesting response

Many time i find forum more interesting that the actual show

Going by chacterization here is what I feel

Dev is one weak guy extremely obsessive ,that's one of the basic characteristic ...I think the character is written in a manner that's selfish subconsciously and then apologetic for about being selfish...

What's interesting about this character is the level of influence hes r invoking in his mother and girl friend ...inspite of being wrong ,...to his mother ti comes across as insecurity and with nsona it comes across as her concern ...inspite of knowing dev is being selfish they continue to care and make him their first priority

The character has that level of influence is what they wanted to portray and I can buy that ...so for me it's more of the story than the characters ...

Obviously entirely your decision to join the forum or not. But do not generalize the entire forum just bcoz few members don't agree with your pov. Many in the forum have suppoted your POV too. You have conveniently forgotten about their viewpoints n concentrating on only those who have opposed your pov. Almost all the points you have captured in your post have been discussed endlessly in the forum before. I do wish you read them before saying tht this forum is only abt fan girls drooling over leads.

I too am disappointed with current track when the serial is moving towards OTT drama and running far away from the initial promos. I too hated to see Sona not giving a damn abt her family, drunken Dev is too OTT n Ish is beyond comprehension now but I am willing to invest more time on the show bcoz I still have some hopes left n bcoz no other serial can even close to this show.

Lastly, I guess I wud never post on this forum(not sure though 🤔) going by what was shown in SBS today. Concept is totally ruined if SBS news is true
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The makers conveniently forgot their initial concept and changed the track . I wonder why they won't feel responsible to explain why they mislead the viewers, not all but some like us who are looking forward to see the novel concept. I wonder what novelty they found in dealing with conceiving problems etc which are tried and tested. In YHM the issue was already tackled showing surrogacy as the option. So what is new here? Yes you are right.Concept is totally ruined .

To those who thought my post was NEGATIVE,
It was not negative. I just stated what I felt and I guess Forum rules allows me to post my POV without crossing line and I certainly dont need permissions for doing so neither I have to be an ardent fan of show or a active member of forum

The main plot of show was how love wins over insecurity but sadly it was dealt with stupidity. This was the track that whole show is based on and it definitely needed to be handled with Sensitivity, maturity and care. Sadly, makers ruined it by rushing Sona in marrying to the first proposal, making Dev drunkard and stalker and turning Ishwari blind and crazy

CVS wud have let character evolve especially Dev and Ishwari(as Sona have hardly any part except supporting Dev and trusting him)
Dev cud have been shown trying to convince Ishwari and addressing her insecurities and Ishwari cud hv been shown as fidgeting between accepting sona as part of dev life and rejecting same idea. She cud hv been shown trap between her own insecurities and then feeling miserable by seeing her son in such a condition but alas

And let me clear, I hv not targetted anyone or any actor. I spoke n criticize characters. I might have come across as blunt n insensitive but I cannot sugar-coat. I knew die hard fans n fagirls will not like my post so i put the disclaimer

Lastly, I guess I wud never post on this forum(not sure though 🤔) going by what was shown in SBS today. Concept is totally ruined if SBS news is true

concept gaya gutter mei... i wished they had retained to original track... just after the engagement broke, talks have started about marriage... no redemption, no manofying, no apologies nothing... Mama's boy say yes to marriage because his mother order's him and desperate Sona getting married because she just wants to get married... now sure what are they trying to show...

@bold: word 👏👏

this week was so much drama and sympathy for dev... i found him to be a wimp.. what was with the crying, getting drunk and melodramatic declarations... which woman in her right mind will agree to marry such a weak man who cant handle the slightest difficulty... he broke off with sona yet he was the one acting like a dying man at her engagement... jeez it was just an engagement not like it was something more 😆😆... he is no alpha male... extremely passive...he got her by getting sympathy and she is foolish enough to go with him...

Noted .You just played Devil's advocate to Dutta's show. 😆

Hi back.😳😆

Couldn't resist- the problem is Ishwari and Dev's characters have been dragged to a level where it's not about emotions, selfishness but pure destructive. It's a pity rather than raising them they have pulled and sucked out Sona. Sad indeed.

I heard that they are going forward to Devakshi marriage and eventually pregnancy drama ?? 😳 So where does those initial promos fit in now ? Because Sona can't become pregnant, is Dev going to divorce her for Ishwari and then another separation would begin ? 😕 I am totally confused now !
Sona rejecting Dev's proposal and then agreeing to the same will happen in 2 episodes or what ? I just SO wanted it to be a 2 month long track where Dev and Ishwari have to pay the prices of their crimes but seems NO 😡 They are getting married so soon, and at least it takes 6-7 months to come to the conclusion that one is not able to conceive. Will the show take a leap ? Where does the original concept of dealing with MIL's insecurities and Son's trying to balance both relationship fit in here ? 🤔

I think they have conveniently forgotten the initial promos. This unable to conceive news is also sounding like cheating. Had expected Ishwari and Dev to be made to pay for their sins by Bijoy. But nothing!

Suddenly feels like anticlimax.
