You have to PM me every time you post something!! How did I again miss one of your posts?!
Totally agree with you. Nowadays when I watch the show I keep reminding myself that it's shaheer's charm that's making my heart melt and not Dev's. I just rewatch the break up episode to get the anger back. Dev is pining for her and is in pain. But he is still not realizing just how much he hurt Sonakshi. When it comes to Sonakshi, he's always been very selfish, as he has admitted it himself, for the first time in his life he was selfish. But then, is it fair to her? Him being so selfish? He's selfish in his pain as well. He's okay with parting ways as long as he has some part of her left with him.
I would love it if they showed something where he truly regrets putting her through so much pain. Yes, he's broken his own heart as well, probably he's in more pain than she is. But that's not my point. It's not about who's in more pain, it's about realizing that you've given someone hope and then snatched it away at the drop of a hat. Corect me if I'm wrong, I think you want to convey the same thought with your post.

Absolutely. We need to watch the break up episode and episodes leading up to it again to retain our righteous anger.

Atleast Shaheer's charm is evening it out. I really liked the contrast. Dev restless, Sona emotionless. I like that the creatives did not go with a generic "sad after breakup" mode for both fo them but kept in mind the relationship dynamics and the character sketch.

Absolutely. What you said is so true and so sad. He gave her hope and snatched it away. At least after the dust settles he has to think about it and the dust has settled, his mommy is all smiles. When will we get to see all that? I really hope we do given that she herself hurled all those accusations at him.

They also indicated that Sona does not trust her judgement and love anymore. Dare we hope that they will show Dev reinstate that trust via a well written redemption arc?

How often will mother-son duo demonstrate that all their "samajh jaana" stuff is all hogwash???

Are the creatives writing such scenes in jest to mock their own premise that mom-son have "wifi connection" as Nikki once said?

I liked seeing Dev restless and Sonakshi emotionless. Quite appropriate given their natures and the relationship dynamics.

The leap was shown very naturally and handled well. Ritwik's rishta does not seem odd at this juncture.

Nice to see Dev pine. He even recollected the harsh words he said to Sona but when oh when will he feel remorse over his conduct and not just the pain of separation?? When will he recollect his promises and how he broke them in a jiffy?

Why does he not spend even a minute wondering what went wrong? How it all went down like this? What was lacking in Sonakshi. He is just moping around and going about his regular routine with Ish. Creatives are taking full advantage of Shaheer's ability to bring out that vulnerability to get us to forget the manner of break up and what lead to it..

Quite conveniently he remembers orange shirt but not promises..

Dev, please update your memory card.

Even Dev is ready to accept the change,Iswari is not ready to let him move. She is living in the illusion that she knows everything about her son and giving wrong directions to her son

So true! I like how they've showed different shades to their sadness. Dev's restlessness and Sonakshi's numbness. It's beautiful to watch.

I guess they probably will show this, but again someone will have to spell it out for him. This time it might be Sonakshi. When they have that heated argument she will tell him and make him realize how much pain he's caused her. Or maybe if there's a ritwik-Dev confrontation and ritwik makes him realize that he's fixing what Dev broke. Would love to see Dev's expressions then!

Nothing would make me happier than a well written and well executed (also well edited) redemption arc. Where Dev tries to win Sonakshi back and she's lost her trust on love and he has to work hard to win it.

I just hope it doesn't end up becoming just wishful thinking on our part!

Well written redemption? :-) When was the last time you saw one on Indian Television?

On other note, almost always Television heroine forgive and forgot transgressions in the name of love, family or (her) sanskar.

As always love the write ups here amazing and insightful writers/thinkers you all are.

I liked the line in Bold thank God they kept that characterization at least alive.

Easwari's characterization... what is she now even her expressions confuse me now
  • Acting like a smug child when Dev brings her Home
  • Acting matter of fact when Dev says he broke up with Sona
  • Acting as a petulant child with Neha
  • Acting delusional when she tells mama that Dev is fine now and everything will be back to what it was before
  • Acting like a jealous wife when mami broaches the topic of Dev marriage
  • Acting blind when she blesses Dev happiness everyday- do people even fall at peoples feet everyday nowadays?..maybe still want to keep the God in her intact???
  • Acting like a Vamp by fixing Sona marriage
  • Acting like a VINDICTIVE person with her talks to the broker

Sorry for the Rant

True. Dev is still only thinking about his feelings, how he misses Sona in his life, how he can't survive without Sona. Not even once he has been shown that he realises how hurt Sona is, how is she surviving the breakup, reaction of her family, how harsh he was with Sona.

👏👏Perfect post ! And I HELL agree with Dev and Sona's opposite reaction part - and I MUST mention Shaheer and Erica's acting prowess here 😲 Dayumn this guy Shaheer is forcing me to feel for the character Dev when I don't want to 😆

Shaheer's eyes do all the tricks, whereas for Erica, I dont know how she does it and if anyone noticed it or not, but it's just her heavy face whenever she is upset, without any tears, it's just beyond heartbreaking 💔 Something what we call as 'Chehra baitha hua'.. It's VERY difficult to do since no makeup can bring this part, and I've seen very very limited actresses successfully enacting this thing on screen.. She scores it JUST with this thing IMO..

Now coming to Dev's just missing Sona and not realizing his mistake yet.. Bang on 👏 And now the more I see Sona, I feel the double Dev's problem is gonna be.. This whole breakup thing has evidently taken a big toll on Sona, and I'm not sure even if Devakshi are together, how Dev would bring the previous Sona back.. He now not only has to redeem himself, but also has to pull up Sona from this rock-bottom, low self-confident stage to where she earlier was.. Poor guy is unable to manage even himself, I don't know how such weak character is going to be ready for a big life-event called marriage which comes with loadshit of responsibility demanding altogether different levels of problem-solving tactics for a hell lot of new type of issues/problems which dont exist in life before marriage 😆 I'm not sure if Dev's remorse is the final stage of this story.. Certainly not.. And Dev hasn't even started with it !😡

P.S. - Wifi 🤣 There is a crack in the modem (Ishwari's head) for which the connection is down for quite sometime now and as it's monsoon in India, servicing is out of option and frequent damage/loss of connection is expected 😛😆

Yes, he is looking so vulnerable. In today's episode he outdid himself. All the expressions we wanted to see. If only he would feel all thoughts we want him to (according to mamaji he does) and act the way we want too. 😊.

I really hope the CVs are going somewhere with this, given how they are showing that Sona has lost faith in love and herself, Dev guilty and Ritwik and family looking quire nice.

All in all, this phase is way more engaging that the phase just before break up!
