Amazing post and I wonder how I missed it... I have been missing last week or so... so I guess...

The question of love was never there... We know they both loved each other... Sona gave her 100%... Dev kept bringing his mom up... Every romantic dialogue or a scene has the monther's reference.. all the time...

Was the breakup justified... probably...Was there a better was to handle it probably... though I think if Dev has thought and then acted.. he wouldn't have acted at all.. It had to ripped apart like he ripped his heart ruthlessly.. Any other way I think he would have have been able to breakup... Any other way Sona wouldn't have left... So that is also justified probably.

Does Ishwari have anything to do with their patch up.. She better not... Dev lost his respect in Sona's eyes, he has to earn it.. He has to earn her trust... He has to prove that he is a man of his word and only then Sona would relent...

How they get married , does Ishwari agree is a topic for another day... But for Dev and Sona to get back together a gimmick like storming an engagement scene or lying on a hospital bed won't work.. It shouldn't.

Dev will have to work his ass off to get her to trust him... Love was never a problem... She always loved him always will.

But will she see him as her life partner... That is what Dev needs to work on...

Let Ishwari just standby and be oblivious for all I care while her son fights to get back his love and in the process his life.

So true, Sometimes it even takes months and years for someone to even try to move on, to give your heart to a new relationship.
And from the segments we can assess that Sonakshi has already shared her past with Ritwik. The rush for the engagement ceremony and its trigger can only be commented upon once we see the episode.
Yes! So true, Sonakshi can't fight for this alone. . How amazing it will be na, to see a Dev gradually winning Sonakshi's trust back, deciding to go ahead with it inspite of Ishwari's resentment. . And them, together trying to deal with Ishwari's sentiments together.
It would all be a waste if it is Ishwari who sees a Dev in bad state and says. . "Ja Beta, jee le apni zindagi"😳😆

@ Last line

This is exactly what I was referring to . I want a redemption without the involvement of Ishwari. If she says that , then Dev would be proven a perfect and obeying son which doesn't sit in here !

absolutely brilliant post...the breakup was executed perfectly...u r rite the breakup had to happen as a result of dev's drastic decision...if he wud hv taken the time to think then this breakup wud never hv happened or if happened then we wud ended up seeing dev pleading sona to understand him and wait for him or any other abject OTT...but the in the end it wud hv been a quasi-break making this relationship even more messy and nonredeemable...
so wat they showed was perfect...it is sheer damage to their relationship that is true and sona's trust has been badly broken...but in our life we hv the ability to rise like a phoenix from the worstest of situations...all depends upon the path they travel from now...

dev and sona are destined to be with each other (i believe so)...so wat remains to be seen how dev redeems himself in the eyes of sona and earns her trust all by his own effort...ishwari shud become a totally non-issue...she is only an external factor and cant be the reason of breakup...two ppl breakup because there is lack of understanding and trust between them...third person can play a role only to the extent these two ppl will allow that person to interfere...sona always knew that ishwari's consent is very imp for dev and she always told him so but he always believed that wud never be a prob...his misjudgement of his mom is the reason of the relationship's demise...
so it is now dev and sona's turn to regain their trust on and respect for each other...only then reunion can happen...ishwari has no role in it and hence dev shud not welcome her interference in this...

but i want to say here... this breakup was needed for both them to smell the coffee...dev needs to learn his bhagwaan ma is not all that mahaan and will not say yes to all his happiness...and sona needed to learn that the man she loves is victim of ishwari's emotional manipulations for years so watever skyhigh promises he makes to her will be subjected to breakage according to ishwari's nods...

this breakup has done its (half) purpose...at least sona has learnt her lesson about dev...how much dev has learnt his lesson remains to be seen in the coming episodes...27 year long manipulations by ishwari...so dev cant see thru her veneer in one day...dev is still very naive...y is he telling everyone he brokeup because of incompatibility...y cant he say the truth that he did this for his mom...he has always said everything else he has done for his mom...like he has built this business empire, bought this mansion, recruited the best nutritionist everything for mom...so y is he not admitting this time...

it only proves the extent to which ishwari has him under her wings...dev only says those things which does not disturb her bhagwaan image...saying that he sacrificed his life for his mom will pull her down to a selfish woman image which he will never do...not because he is a mahaan son but because ishwari's influence on him doesnt let him demean ishwari in any way...so i hv to see how the makers show dev's journey of realization that his mom will always be a thorn in the path of his love...

That is exactly why I don't blame Dev completely. There are people who seek constant approvals from their dominating parents or a sibling or the only parent in this case . We don't know the life of Dev and the childhood that he has seen.

I have a couple friends who lost their parents at a very young age and I see the traits... So why Dev doesn't talk to Ishwari is understandable. Like I mentioned in one of my posts...

Does he go and ask his mother are you unhappy that I am happy or are you happy that I am unhappy?

Dev clearly told us this during the accident episode. I don't know how to deal with family. Business mein aisa nahi hota wahan emotions ke liye koi jagaha nahi... par family mein toh sab apne hai...

The same ruthless Dev , without emotions can slay the world. The same emotional Dev can't even talk to his mother and they are the same guy. They are a part of the complicated Dev.

Dev and Sonakshi just have to find themselves. Dev has to break the shackles of his past while Sona has to raise to maintain her own identify.

Amazing, amazing, and amazing post!! I totally agree, I think they need to have a valid reason (that's also respectful to Sona) for why they get back together. If I had a daughter and someone broke her heart for this reason, I'd be pissed too. So to some extent I understand why Bijoy and Asha want her in a new relationship as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for agreeing.
Now we can see after today's episode that Bijoy n Asha aren't really hurrying into the marriage , within , say, 1 week of the break up , as a considerable time has passed since their break up n entry of Ritwik, in the time line of the show.
Exactly. If you look at the whole incident putting Sona in the place of your daughter, tell me how'd one feel about it ?? Why'd one ever want their ankhon ka tara going back to the guy n place where she got her sense of self-worth n her heart crushed.

i dont get it...wat do u guys want...u want devakshi to breakup permanently and sona settling with this ritvik guy...isnt that going too far wen ritvik has not made his entry yet and we know nothing about the guy except that he is a doc and from a decent bengali family and settled in delhi...

but no thatz not the point...it doesnt matter whether ritvik is perfect or not for sona...
this story is about devakshi and its their love...

i totally agree with everything TM has said...sona has gvn her 100 percent (even more than that) in this relationship...she has gone out of her way to convince ishwari by swallowing all insults she threw at her...
sona continuously told dev to talk to ishwari but he refused and even gv lame excuses like "i dont know y i am not telling" or "i want to hide u from everyone"...
i was actually very confused y dev delayed in telling his mom...on one hand he used to say that he knows his mom the best and she will never deny anything that will gv him happiness on the other hand he refused to tell his mom about sona...

it was obvious dev doubted whether his mom wud agree to this relationship which makes us question that if ma is so important to him then y did he make sky high promises to sona widout first getting ishwari's consent regarding this relationship...

so judging all the above points it is natural to think (and it is true too) that dev never gv 100% to this relationship...
i can actually come up with lots of excuses for this...although some of these may sound lame but all these i hv concluded after studying dev's character from the beginning till now...

first, i think dev in all his 27 years never thot of himself...he worked hard to build this business empire only for his family's sake so that they can be freed from poverty...dev never got the time to think about himself or wat dreams he has...
it was only after he realized that he is in love with sona that he learnt to indulge himself and his dreams...but dev for 27 years has always been a giver and not a taker...he has given up his childhood, his dreams and everything for his family and so today wen its time for him to ask from his mom something for himself he does not know how...he even does not know how his mom wud react...
i think this is a major reason y he hesitated telling his mom...didnt he always say sona that she is the first thing that he has ever wanted for himself...

second, for all his life his mother has been his world and he literally lived and breathed for his mom...but with sona in his life he feels the same about her too...wen he confessed to ishwari about sona he cud see that ishwari was ok with this relationship...
here i felt dev was being too blind...as viewers we cud clearly see ishwari's expressions and body language...although she said yes to dev but her eyes were speaking a different language...however dev did not even bother to read her eyes...quite strange since he claims to know her best...here i feel dev is so much in love with sona that wen ishwari said yes he got so happy and relieved that he turned blind to all other signs that ishwari were expressly giving...

it was not selfishness but it was a craving that he cud not let go...sona is not only his first love also a first of something that he wants for himself and so he doesnt want to believe that his mom will deny him of sona...

after the photo issue i thot dev at last realized his mom's intentions and that is y he went up to sona and apologised for making her stand to pose for the photo...however again wen he went to ask ishwari about sona she again lied to him that she likes her...again dev failed to read the signs...

then wen ishwari was actually hospitalized and mamaji told him the truth that ishwari doesnt like sona dev was actuallty in shock...
yes i agree many ppl will blame dev for this...he shud hv read the signs before...
but i dont want to be too harsh on dev...he fell in love for the first time although i agree it was sona's first love too...
but dev along with falling in love came first time face to face with the dev dixit who is also individual by himself other than being ishwari's son or brother to his sisters...

since dev for the first time indulged his dreams he wanted to read only the positive signs and neglect the negative ones...so wen ishwari said yes he took it by face value...i agree that it was his grave mistake...and wen ishwari was hospitalized he lost all his senses and the first solution that came to his mind is to remove the element that is disturbing ishwari and so he tells sona to leave his life...very rude i agree but at that point he cudnt choose sona over his mom...

but dev was wrong because i felt instead of breaking up he cud ask for time to convince ishwari...again i felt dev took that hasty decision because he was not in the right state of mind...at that point of time dev only wanted his mom to return home alive...he may hv thot at that time that if he tries to talk to mom after she returns home then again she may react in this same way...wat i mean is that at that time in the hospital nothing mattered to dev except ishwari...

however on returning home with ishwari we cud see that in the time between sona leaving and dev bringing ishwari home he was devastated...we cud see in his eyes the pain that he was going thru...wen ishwari brought up the topic of sona he lied that he broke up because of incompatibility...and then we cud see him cry copiously after the phn call...

all said and done we cant disagree that dev is in immense pain...he is suffering from unbearable grief of losing sona...while sona has his family's shoulders to cry on dev does not even hv that...he can do nothing except brood...

my point is that i agree dev is alone to blame for today's mess...sona is an innocent victim of dev's tactlessness...
but all said and done we cant deny that dev truly loves sona...his love is as deep and genuine as sona's love for him...

today sona has dev to blame but dev doesnt even hv the luxury of that as he has noone to blame but himself...

i am not against sona trying to move on...but getting mixed up with another guy so soon doesnt go down well with me...moving on doesnt always mean that u hv to enter into another relationship...sona cud focus on her career...cud move to another city...make new friends and start new hobbies...i mean in real life wen we move on we do these things only...we dont start crying on another man's shoulder just because first love got broken up...

finally let me come to the topic of whether sona shud return to dev...it depends...dev needs to start from scratch if he truly wants sona back...he cannot one day walk up to sona and say that i convinced my mom and she has agreed so come back...and sona shud absolutely not come back at this...

dev needs to walk miles of redemption...he needs to be reborn as dev who can convince sona of his love and commitment...dev needs to understand that sona and her love r not to be taken for granted and he shud also learn to respect his own feelings for sona too...the moment dev told sona to leave his life he insulted his own love for sona too...
sona shud come back only after she gets convinced that dev deserves her...

finally i want to say that dev has so many time told sona that noone knows his mom better than him...this statement has no truth and poor dev was under illusion for 27 years...
he has done wrong with sona i agree but he himself has been a victim of ishwari's emotional manipulations all his life...

i agree no such excuses gvs him the rite to wat he did with sona...but then he is suffering too...but no i am not saying because he is suffering sona shud come back...absolutely not...i hv already said this in this post and i am repeating it again...dev needs to walk miles of redemption...

my final point is that devakshi shud be tog...i believe dev deserves sona in every way but yes he has to do everything to prove it...
mere apology and convincing his mom will not suffice...he has to prove to sona that she is not something to sacrifice under any circumstances...

you said everything I feel exactly.

Love you for making this! I have seen people questioning Sona's CHARACTER because she is trying to MOVE ON! Can hipocrisy get any worse? She has the right to make WHATEVER decision she wants to regarding her love life. DEV simply just DOESN'T deserve her. And people who are here to SYMPATHIZE with Dev, I am SO sorry, I just don't agree with you. A man like him, doesn't deserved to be loved. And his mom is in an URGENT need of a SHRINK. Mad mom and the 'Oh so obedient son' can just eff off somewhere!

I am seriously SO pissed off with them! 😡
