Hi guys, Part 3 is here. There are two important things that you should note before reading further. In my story, the separation track didn't happen. Yes, Ishwari was insecure and didn't completely accept sonakshi with her whole heart, but she wasn't vocal about it and Dev and Sonakshi got married. This will factor in later on in the story, please just trust me on this one. Secondly, Mamaji and RR don't stay with the Dixits anymore, Dev built them a new house and they have left Ishwari Niwas.

Ok, on with story..

*Present Day*

Sonakshi Bose was confused. She couldn't remember clearly how she got here. She remembered a sudden blow and then... nothing. The last thing she remembered was taking a walk with Mr Obodhro, only, he wasn't Mr obodhro there, he was different. She saw a side of him that he was reluctant to show anybody. She remembered being attracted to him, she stopped her thoughts midway.. What are you thinking Sona? He's your boss, don't be stupid! She thought back to the look on his face when he entered her room. The relief on was so apparent, so tangible. But there was something else in his eyes, something she had never seen before. She felt there was something she was forgetting. What, she couldn't figure out. She wondered why her parents weren't by her side when she woke up. She heard the nurse saying that she had been out for 27 hours. Surely, Mr Dixit would have informed them. There was something amiss, and she had to find out what it was.

Dev Dixit was pacing in Dr Sinha's cabin. The neurosurgeon had looked at her scans and concluded that Sonakshi was suffering from retrograde amnesia, a condition that caused her to lose a few months/years from her memory.

"So she doesn't remember anything?" asked Dev.

"No. She remembers everything up to the date of her last accident. The last time her brain had to deal with this much trauma was when she got run over by the car. And now, due to another head trauma, she has forgotten the 3 years that passed between the two accidents. She remembers her parents, her job as a nutritionist at your house. She remembers everything till the date of her accident. The only thing that she seems to have forgotten is.."

".. Us" completed Dev.

Dev didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was as if fate was playing a cruel joke on him. Sonakshi forgot the entire span of their relationship, their marriage, the ups and downs they had faced together. He was lost in his thoughts when he saw Ishwari, Bijoy and Asha Bose coming toward him. All of them had tensed expressions on their faces. It was a dja-vu feeling for him. He had been in this situation before, he had consoled Asha before, when her daughter was fighting for her life. But this time, it was different. This time, the girl in the hospital was his wife. Only, she didn't remember it.

He explained the situatin to Asha and Bijoy and sent them to Sonakshi's room. Ishwari, however, stayed back with him. She saw how heartbroken her son looked. A part of her was kind of happy at the new chance she had at getting her son back, she felt ashamed for having such thoughts. Dev looked so lost and heartbroken. Seeing her son in this state helped her make up her mind. She decided she wasn't going to make the same mistakes she'd made earlier. She took a seat beside him and kept a tentative hand on his shoulder. Dev looked at her with tears in his eyes.

"What do I do, Maa? She doesn't remember anything. Our relationship, our marriage, our life! What do I do now?" he cried.

" You remind her" said a determined Ishwari.

"You remind her of your love, and beta, think about it, this can turn out to be a blessing in disguise. This could be a new start for the two of y'all. After whatever happened the past year.. "

Dev stood up abrubtly. "No, Maa. Don't go there. We're not gonna talk about this right now" saying so, he left for Sonakshi's room, determined to tell her the truth about them, but when he reached the threshold, he saw how happily she was chatting with Asha and Bijoy and his resolve melted. He turned back and continued on his way.

In the end, she was the one who initiated their confrontation. He shouldn't have been surprised. For a slip of a girl, Sonakshi was stubborn as hell and surprisingly good at getting what she wanted.

"Mr Dixit" she called out as he passed by the open door to her room. He stopped and backtracked until he was in the doorway. She remained silent, staring at him with brown eyes that took up half her face. Conceding some war he didn't know they were engaged in, he stepped in the room.

Taking it as the triumph that it was, she smiled. "Sorry, I know you must be busy. But -well-I have some questions."

He nodded once, striving for nonchalance.

"Here's the thing. I met Maa Baba right now. They seemed happy to see me, but they appeared really nervous. Also, no one is telling me what date it is. Isn't that strange? It feels as if everyone is walking on eggshells around me. I feel there's something they're not telling me. Can you help me Mr Dixit? We're friends now, right?" she asked, referring to their easy camaraderie during the walk.

Dev flinched at the use of the word friends'. He remained silent.

"I mean, I remember we were getting along well for a change, when I had my accident, no one is telling me exactly what happened, Did I get hit by a car? Or did I fall?" she looked at him with questioning eyes.

He cleared his throat. Time. He needed time. "You know," he said, "we should probably wait for Dr Sinha. He um.. I.. I'll be back.."

She was about to protest, he could see that, and so he left the room before she could convince him to stay.

The perfect opportunity, the one he'd been waiting for, had just presented itself and he'd left track marks making his getaway. Because maybe, he realized, Sonakshi's condition was a gift. One he'd be a fool not to accept. Maybe Maa was right. There were things he did his damnest to forget everyday. Things she didn't need to remember. Things she'd be happier forgetting. Forgetting led to forgiving and - he swallowed- he could use some of that.

There was a small part of him, a part that hadn't existed before Sonakshi - or atleast hadn't been so vocal - that told him it amounted to lying. But there was a bigger part of him - one that also hadn't existed before Sonakshi - part born of fierce protectiveness that told him it was for the best.

Dev decided it would be best if Sonakshi's parents told her about them. She was still fragile, and recovering from a major trauma. If he went in there and told her, chances were she wouldn't take him seriously. What was he even supposed to say to her, "Hey Sonakshi, I know you call me Mr Obodhro and we literally just became friends; in your mind anyway. But, we're married now. And you've forgotten the last three years of your life. K bye" No. Sonakshi needed to hear this from her parents.

Sonakshi listened in shock as Asha and Bijoy told her what happened. Dev had instructed them to tell her about their marriage, but not to disclose anything that happened last year. The only good thing that could come out of this entire ordeal was that she had a chance to forget. To start anew, and God knows they both needed it.

Sonakshi thought she was dreaming. All of this seemed like a bad joke. She was married. To Dev Dixit. Mr Obodhro. The guy who got her fired from her job so that she could be his mother's personal nutritionist. The guy who constantly confused and confounded her with his unpredictable behaviour. The guy she was attracted to, and though she hated to admit it, had developed a small crush on. It all seemed unreal. A small part her marvelled as to how someone like Mr Dixit agreed to marry her. Sure, he was opening up to her during their walk, but how did they reach the point of marriage? And her parents said that it was a love marriage. Dev Dixit, in love? With me? The possibility seemed laughable. Suddenly, a thought struck her; she finally got her love story. Only, she didn't remember any of it. The irony of it made her smile in dejection.

Sonakshi was chatting with her parents when Dev entered. He looked at Sonakshi and judging by the look on her face, he understood that she knew. Bijoy and Asha made some excuse and left the room hurriedly. Alone, they stared at each other. Sonakshi knew an argument was no way to begin a second start. She tried to tell herself as much as he came closer, but it was of no use; anger, arriving with a fluid ease, churned in her gut and pushed through her tongue.

"You could have said something," she said, her voice tight.

"I know," he sighed, taking her hand. She slid it out from under his and used it to tuck a few strands of hair behind her ear."But the first time I came in, I didn't know and then..."

"Then it just became easier to lie to me" she nodded.

"Sonakshi..."His face stretched into an expression of pain and she felt something tug inside her. Anger dissolved into empathy so quickly she knew a moment of shame for being so fickle.

"Yes?"

He moved closer, as if to kiss her, and Sonakshi felt butterflie s, but then he reversed, thinking better of it. "I'm so so so-" his voice grew gruff, "glad you're here."

The raw emotion, even from someone she could only call a stranger, drew a lump in her throat. She didn't know Dev Dixit was even capable of having so much emotion. Her eyes grew bright, which, she told herself was completely uncalled for. Blinking, she lowered her eyes and watched as her hand slid under his on the hospital bed. His fingers gripped hers in an embrace that bordered on pain.

"I have some questions."

He hesitated, before nodding. His voice, however, was still wary when he said, " I may have some answers."

"How did we fall in love? I mean, my parents told me we had a love marriage."

Something in her told her it was relief that blanketed his eyes. He smiled at her, a genuine warm smile that reached his eyes, and she thought she saw something, did she dare call it love? Emanating from his eyes. "Believe it or not, you fell for me first." He said with a laugh.

Why am I not surprised, thought Sonakshi. She knew she was developing a crush on him, she knew that before her accident. So it was only natural that maybe she had fallen for him first. But did he also like her? Immediately? How did they confess? When did they get married? She had so many questions she needed answers to, but she decided not to overwhelm him by asking him too many questions at once.

But there was one question she needed an answer to, that had been bothering her ever since she found out she was married to Mr Dixit.

"Ummm.. so, when do I get to go home?"

He frowned. "Sonakshi," he said, trying to go slow, not wanting to scare her "You live in Ishwari niwas now"

She surprised him by nodding. "I know, but I - considering the circumstances, I figured it might be easier to stay.. " she faltered, before finishing with, "...at my parent's house."

He was prepared to be lenient, to go easy on her. But there were issues on which he wouldn't budge. "Why?" Blunt came naturally; it was the walking on eggshells that made him feel out of his element.

Thrown, she flailed for a way to explain. " Its just - that you - and me.."

"Yes?"

She sawed a hand back and forth in the space between them. "We are - well, we were, and you would expect, quite naturally, and I'm not sure I could - "

He stood up. "You think I'm going to demand sex from you the minute you arrive?"

Color flushed her cheeks and for a moment he was taken back to how she'd looked against the gurney, blood haloing her head and draining her face. The image was so vivid his arm almost jerked out to touch her skin and test its warmth.

"No, of course not!" how had she ended up being so crass? Not to mention rude and ungrateful.

"Good," he said, all umbrage gone. She had the sneaking suspicion she'd just been played. "Then there's no problem. Dr Sinha said you'll probably be discharged in a day or two. I'll drive you."

Then he smiled, his lips breaking from the stern line to a playful smile.

And Sonakhshi had time to look at him. Really look at him. He noticed her looking at him intently and smirked.

"You should rest." He said, moving away.

"No!" It was automatic and not a little bit desperate. " All I've done is rest. I'm done resting. I'm all rested. I am ready to do"

His brows rose and she flushed at the implication of her words. Heat suffused her body and though she wasn't quite sure of what she wanted, there was an overwhelming awareness that made her shift under the hospital sheet.

"I'm going to rest" she muttered, willing him to leave and take his smoldering eyes with him.

Mr Dixit was turning into Mr Hot and she didn't know how much longer she could resist him. Sonakshi Bose was in for trouble.

Oh it is so amazing.
Loved it completely
It'll be rly interesting to read how they'll deal living with each other, where Dev has already spent 3 years of marriage with Sona so obviously he'd be having a different comfort level with her and he'll have to control himself and remind that Sona doesn't remember what all happened in the past.
And on the other hand how Sona, who already has had crush on him gets to know that Dev is her husband, how she'll be attracted more towards him. And fall in love with him again.
Amazing. Pls update with the next part.
