Very well written chapter.👍🏼 You have shaped up the characters very well. Covered his thoughts and his past after he left for Canada in a few well formed sentences, drawing a clear picture in the readers mind.

I am not trying to push my thoughts onto you but maybe Sonakshi can SHOW him that she is his Bose without using the words, instead of completely knuckling under Mami?? Cooking his favourite dish is the first step in that direction I guess.

Thank you for the PM 😃

@blue: Nothing can give me more satisfaction than to know that I was successful in doing what I aimed to do. Thank you so much! 🤗

DevAkshi SS: Hidden

Chapter 6:

Striding into his room, throwing his coat on the bed, Dev loosened his tie and ran his fingers through his hair. The pounding headache is nothing but making everything worse. Pressing the pad of his palm on his forehead, he made yet another attempt to alleviate the throbbing headache.

The kitchen encounter kept flashing at the back of his head, racking his already agonized mind all the more. He had just stepped into his house, exhausted from the back to back meetings with the clients, when he heard Sonakshi's scream. The moment it reached his ears, his feet automatically sprinted towards the direction of the shriek, his heart clenched painfully tight at the thought of what might have happened to her...again.

What he witnessed at the kitchen door almost snatched his breath away. There she stood with her face pale, her little button nose that turned red, her eyes were puffy and she kept hiccupping uncontrollably. As he moved his gaze to her wrist that was in a death grip of Radha for reason unknown, being taunted to no ends, he clenched his fingers into a tight fist, protective instinct kicking his very being with so much force that he took only a few long strides to reach them to take Radha's hands off her wrist. He didn't know what had happened, why Radha was treating her the way she was treating her, and he didn't had to! The moment he saw her in that condition, his mind and brain abandoned him royally, leaving everything to his heart to take care of. And his heart did what it felt right...to protect her!

WHY! Why did I react that way?!

Why do her tears affect me in such way that I knew never existed in me?!

Why am I being so... so protective over her?

She's just another staff in our house. Then why?!

What in the good lord's name is wrong with me?!

"goddammit!" he banged his fist on the desk, frustrated.

As he was about to leave for washroom to freshen up, his feet halted as he remembered something.

Those blisters! The red and blue patches on her wrist and arms! Dammit!

Taking out the Burnol and antiseptic cream swiftly, he headed towards the servant's ward.

~~

If you reveal your identity, if Dev gets to know that you're sonakshi, it will be extremely hard for him to go back to Canada.

You anyway don't match his standards

You both are poles apart

He's the top business tycoons in India. And you're just a mere servant! What kind of match is it?

You are too tacky to match his high social life style!

He has moved on; don't make him look back now. Don't force him to come back to square one.

Radha's words kept playing in sonakshi's head, as she sat at the corner of her small room. A room that could hardly contain a bed and a wardrobe, a small fan on the ceiling that could hardly cover the ventilation of Delhi's scorching heat. Wiping the beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead, she started dusting, very well aware of how the dust could affect her Asthma problem that she has no medication of till date, even after asking Radha couple of times in vein. She still remembered the day when she had a minor breathing problem while cleaning the rooms. When she went to Radha to talk about it, she had plainly refused to provide her with any medication.

Aab naukro ko bhi dawai leke doon? Chahti kya hai tu? Tere upar itna paisa kharch karoon? You have problems with dust, no? then stay away from it! Simple as that! Kichu will do that job. Badi ayi!Jaa mere liye khana bana.

Later on, when she went to the Student Health Center at her University and described her symptoms, she learned that she had Asthma. Getting the prescription from the doctor, she realized the medicines and inhaler would cost her about 8000 rupees, which she couldn't afford. As a result, all she did from then onwards was being cautious and avoided contacts with dust. Student Health Center had also suggested some home remedies that she obediently followed.

Sighing, she wondered if her life would ever be even close to that of her university class mates. Her mind replayed the kitchen encounter. She wondered if dev was mad at her that he asked her to leave the kitchen. She remembered how infuriated he looked. She was so engrossed in her web of thoughts that she missed the creak of the door, and failed to acknowledge the presence of the very man who occupies her mind 24/7.

She gasped and almost screamed when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"It's me, Dev!", he quickly replied, refraining her from screaming.

Surprised would be an underestimation. Her face automatically got back the sudden glow that was missing when he saw her today in the kitchen, the soft radiance of the moon light from her window giving a perfect view of her face.

"A..Aap?"

Gawd her voice!

"I...in the kitchen.."

"I...I'm sorry about what happened in the kitchen. It was all my fault, I admit. I was being too clumsy. I should have been more careful. I didn't-"

"You speak way too much!", he interrupted, cutting her in the middle.

Sonakshi stopped talking, unsure of what to say.

"Have you tended to them?", he asked looking into her hazel eyes that caught his attention the very first day. Eyes that speak more than words do. Eyes that have this unknown agony that he fails to understand. Eyes that are too familiar to ignore!

"Ji?", she looked at him, scrunching her eyebrows in confusion.

"The blisters. Have you tended to them?", Dev gestured at her wrist, his face straight and devoid of any emotion.

"Blisters?", she followed at the direction of his gaze and her eye widened as she looked at her wrist and arms. Red and blue patches, covering her milky skin. But that's not what surprised her. What stunned her was that he noticed them. she didn't even look at the blisters, let alone tend to them, considering the countless times she had got such blisters, peeled her fingers or burned her hands in the past. She's used to it. But he noticed them?

He came here just to ask me if I tended to them?

"I...n..no. It's not as bad actually.", she replied, too overwhelm to talk any further.

"Well, looking at them, it's telling me something totally opposite.", he crossed his arms, his lips formed a thin line, disappointed at her carelessness regarding her health.

"Oh no! trust me, I'm fine. Don't-"

Holding her right hand, careful not to touch the burned area, he walked towards the bed. Making her sit on the bed, he took out the Burnol and Antiseptic cream from his pocket. Sitting beside her he opened the cap and applied the cream over the blisters, his head bowing down, too engrossed in the task and too cautious so he doesn't hurt her.

Her heart, for once, stopped beating. And when it started beating again, it did with full force. So fast that she felt like he could hear her heartbeat. So fast that it felt as though it would burst out of her chest any moment.

All sonakshi did was stare at him, unable to fathom how she got someone, out of the blue, who noticed her mere blisters when No one had ever even cared to ask about her health when she spilled hot boilingwater on her feet few years ago, Let alone giving her medication. He applied the cream with such tenderness that her eyes blurred with the overwhelming feelings that were hitting her with full force.

Finishing the task, satisfied with the job, he looked at her only to be swept by concern. Her eyes were teary, and her lips were pressed together, probably to stop herself from sobbing infront of him.

She was... hurt?

"Does it hurt? Is it burning? What's wrong? Answer me dammit!", he threw questions after questions, the lines in his forehead clearly portrayed the worry in his eyes that he was trying to hide since he entered her room and laid his eyes on those blisters again.

Wiping her tears, composing herself, she assured him, "No. it doesn't hurt anymore. A lot better. Tha...Thank you! you...really didn't have to do this."

"Make sure you apply them twice a day for this whole week, until they heal!", he advised, ignoring the last part of her reply.

Sonakshi nodded.

Getting up, he gave her one last look to her face, as if making an attempt of memorizing every detail of her face and strode towards the door. Suddenly, his feet halted.

Looking over his shoulder, not quite turning around, he spoke, "And the Paneer Tikka Masala was amazing! Would love to have it again for lunch tomorrow."

With that he strode out of the room, leaving an extremely exuberant and satisfied sonakshi to have a peaceful sleep after ages!

SURPRISE! 🤗

I felt bad for keeping you guys waiting for the last chapter for more than I intended to do, and I felt terrible. So to make it up to you guys, I thought of posting the next chapter tonight. It is 1 page shorter than the length of my usual updates, but I guess that can be considered a bit, since I am updating almost within 24 hours 😳

Another reason that kept my motivation on was the comments I was receiving. I was so happy to receive comments that included a lot about the chapter, characters and what they expect to see in this SS that I just had to post this chapter by tonight to show my gratitude. ☺️

Please, don't forget to hit the like button and throw a comment below! You guys already know how much they mean to me, so please shower me with some feedback, lovelies! 😳

Note:

if you wish to receive PMs for this SS or for any of my future DevAkshi work, please send a buddy request to my other account called Devakshi_PM

Love,

Mushfika
