If this is true, there can be 2 possibilities:

Abhi has confessed everything to Gitu on/before/during the karva chauth day and it is their plan to find the real mastermind. That way, he can be redeemed and montage will have meaning too.

Abhi is held captive somewhere and this Abhi is a fake one.

You r right, it has all been predictable..except Abhi's characteristics...whenever I think something he does complete opposite..first I thought, ok he is fishy, bt he does love Geetu..he proved that wrong..then I thought him a ruthless brave cunning planner who trapped Geetu and immediately he turned dumb spineless coward...There is absolutely zero consistency in his character...and so far no explanations either.. 😛

I don't think geetu knows anything

this show is majorly shown from geetu's perspective

the only person about whom we know everything is geetu

Now i feel abhi somehow know about geetu's plan maybe partially

he is just playing along for time being
