Rani and Adi got engaged!
After Abhi-Aishwarya tieing knot, its time for bollywood's hidden face - Aditya Chopra (son of Yash Chopra) and our bengali bong - Rani Mukherjee. Adi, who has blockbuster DDLJ & Hit Mohabatien under his belt, had filed a divorce against his then wife Payal, in November last year. It got finalized just last week (11th June 2007) and without losing any time, Adi secretly got engaged with Rani just few days ago.
Real life is much stranger than reel life for this newly engaged couple. While, Mr. Yash Chopra was against the divorce on the first place, but Adi didn't give any heed to his father's advice. And the grapevine is that it was all because of Rani Mukherjee. She was the one who gave him shoulder and more than that, during Adi's marriage problem. Instead of fixing things up, she was the one who indulged him into an affair. Doesn't it sound familiar ?
Yes, Karan Johar's KANK, was actually inspired from Adi & Rani's on going extra maritial affair. Even he wanted to justify, if a marraige is not working then its better to end up, else you might be missing someone special waiting for you. Well, past is past. According to a source close to the family, The roka took place at the same Chopra bungalow where Chandni was shot. Around 60 people (family and friends) attended the ceremony that included Rani's parents Ram and Krishna Mukherjee, brother Raja and his wife. Present from the Chopra clan were brother Uday, dad Yash Chopra and mum Pamela Chopra.
Jugal Hansraj (Uday's close pal), Anupam and Kirron Kher also attended the ceremony. Adds our source, "Rani wore a maroon saari
with silver embroidery and Aditya wore a kurta-pyjama, both designed by designer Pallavi Jaikishan. Pam aunty didn't seem very happy, as she has a soft corner for Adi's ex-wife, Payal. Another function will take place at Rani's house next week."
Also buzz is that after marriage Rani is not going to live in the Chopra house. Instead Aditya will live in the house, Rani has recently bought as Mr. Yash Chopra & Adi are not in talking terms.
