On Sunday night, the third episode of Koffee With Karan will air on Star World. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to throw three questions at the host, Karan. Read on for his response!

Karan the director or Karan the anchor?

Karan the director, as Karan the anchor is just doing it as a hobby. Direction is what completes me. I host KWK and it's a large part of my persona, but filmmaking is what defines me.

Koffee With SRK or Koffee With Mallika?

Definitely coffee with SRK, though Mallika is the unofficial brand ambassador of KWK. I would have coffee with SRK over anybody!

Koffee With Nikhil Advani or Koffee With Soham Shah?

Maybe not on the show, but in my office with both. I have always maintained that Dharma Productions is like home and they are sons who have left their home.

I am the father and the father can never lose affection for his children. Why coffee? I can have lunch and dinner with them too.

Yes, there have been periods when I've felt hurt by both of them, but these things happen when you are close to someone.

Today, we are all older, mature and sensible. I have learnt so much from Nikhil technically. I owe him a lot.

Bobby Darling says that it does not matter to her when she is dropped from projects at the eleventh hour. "I feel that things fall into place when the time is right. Har cheez ka ek waqt hota hai," she says. Incidentally this has happened twice with her in recent times. Item girl Rakhi Sawant, who appeared on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, had suggested Bobby Darling's name as the other guest to accompany her. An insider revealed, "The reason why Rakhi suggested Bobby's name was because nobody was willing to be with her on the show." Though Karan and his team were about to call Bobby to be a guest on the show along with Sawant, they dropped the idea at the last minute.

A similar incident took place in Ekta Kapoor's Bhojpuri version of Sholay (called Gabbar Singh) was concerned. Bobby was to play the role played by Keshto Mukherjee in the original. There was also an item number created for Bobby. However, she was dropped at the last minute.

Bobby though, is undeterred by such events. "I believe in destiny. If it is destined to happen it will happen. Why should I break my heart over things that did not happen? Ultimately the fact remains that it did not happen."

Bobby says that she was hurt and rankled when things did not work out for Ekta Kapoor's Gabbar Singh. "I was so excited and all set to leave for the location till I was called and informed that I was not required anymore. As for Koffee With Karan, they did not call me at all," she added.

She adds, "I have three film offers that I am going to sign soon. I don't want to talk about these films right now. They will be announced soon." A source from the Karan Johar camp has it that the director is not comfortable with Bobby. "Once when Shah Rukh Khan was shooting some scene with Bobby for one of his home productions, Karan was present on the sets too and was not comfortable interacting with her. The situation got awkward till Bobby broke the ice," the source said.

No disrespect for Salman-Aamir: Htirhik Roshan

An off the cuff, jokey remark by Hrithik about his colleagues has raised some eyebrows.

During the 'rapidfire' round of Koffee With Karan, the prankish host asked Hrithik which among the two Khans, Aamir and Salman, would he like to work with. To this Hrithik, tongue firmly in cheek observed there wasn't much of a choice since they were both of the same height.

The remark has caused some eyebrows to shoot up in the more conservative sections of Bollywood who feel Hrithik was taking a potshot at the two Khans' height.

"Come on!" Hrithik laughs out aloud. "If people really took offence to my off-the-cuff remark then I must say we lack a sense of humour. Karan's show is meant to be light-hearted and fun and I had myself a ball with Priyanka. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect to Salman or Aamir.

"In fact after the comment on their height, my next statement was, 'That's the only department where I can score over them.' Aamir and Salman are such awesome talents. They're legends. It'll take me years to get anywhere near them."

When contacted Karan Johar who's currently visiting the US laughed out aloud.

"Surely even a perfectionist like Hrithik is allowed to have fun on my show. And the remark on Aamir and Salman was certainly not meant to offend. I'm amazed at how seriously we take ourselves in the industry.

"I'm also amazed that Koffee With Karan has become my main claim to fame right now. At airports, restaurants and on the streets in any of the US cities I'm asked about Koffee only. I better direct another film quickly"

Karan Johar invites Saurav Ganguly "Koffee with Karan"

New Delhi, Feb 24: Karan Johar is going to invite former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly on his chat show "Koffe with Karan". Star cricketer Sourav Ganguly could soon become the first non-film personality to be having "Koffee with Karan", a popular chat show.

The episode featuring former India captain Ganguly, who is on a much talked about comeback trail, could be recorded before he leaves with the team to the West Indies for the World Cup March 1, said reliable sources. Johar has already announced that he would be inviting non-film personalities in the second season of the chat show but has not disclosed any names.

Karan Johar and Saurav Ganguly met not long ago and the filmmaker told him that he would be inviting him to feature in his programme. "When the two met, possibly for the first time, they exchanged mobile numbers and Johar told him that he would be inviting non-film personalities to his show," said a close aide. "Ganguly agreed to Johar's idea, and he could be seen talking to him over a cup of coffee on the sets." Ganguly made a comeback to the national team after 10 months when he joined the squad in South Africa late last year, and has been performing consistently since.

His success has again raised his profile, with sponsors who had deserted him reportedly seeking to sign him again. Ganguly, now 34, has amassed 10,470 runs in 286 one-day internationals at an average of 41.22 and 5,435 in 91 Tests at 40.86. He has also hit 22 centuries in one-dayers and 12 in Test matches.

Kareena Kapoor speaks her heart out to Karan!

The caffeine on this show is addictive. Kareena, who was possibly the most irreverent guest on the show in the last season, promises to be even better this time round. From clarifying her problems with Shah Rukh, the Chopras and the Bachchans, she confesses on the show that she is the one who chased Shahid for two months! Kareena also admits that she is a hyper-hysterical girl friend and says, "Shahid is a very good looking guy and his smile can charm a lot of women… so I do get a little nervous." Shahid talks about the initial insecurities in their relationship, the positive influence they have had on each from Kareena becoming a vegetarian to Shahid becoming more chilled out and relaxed. Kareena in Chameli or Kareena in Omkara - which one was a better performance according to Shahid? If this was not enough, Karisma Kapoor is called on to decide the winner of the rapid fire round? Whom does Karisma choose, her brutally honest kid sister Bebo or Shahid? Lot of revelations… Lot of tongue-in-cheek moments… definitely a must watch!

Excerpts from the interview:

Karan: Who are really your friends Bebo?
Kareena: laughs … Oh god!!

Karan: Because the whole story goes that Kareena only befriends people who are not a threat to her …
Kareena: Oh my god! What is this .. Ahh ….. I don't think so .. But the only actress I think I am closest to is Amrita Arora … She is my only genuine best friend whose an actress..

Karan: Three years Shahid, with Kareena..How would you best define your relationship?
Shahid: It goes beyond words. She is the centre of my life .. I can't think of a day without her .. I am very thankful to God for having her in my life … I think I am very lucky …

Karan: Is she the hyper hysterical girlfriend .. Is she the where you are, what you are doing kind of girl friend …
Shahid: She has calmed a lot in the last three years .. but I think every woman has these insecurities .. and I think it takes the two people to understand and deal with each others' areas of ups and downs .. but I think .. yes I am sure she has .. and so do I have these phases of insecurities which we all do .. I think she has come to trust me a lot ..it takes time for things to settle down ..

Karisma: Yes I do ..

Karan: In what way what does he do that he needs taking up for?
Karisma: Well, I mean generally when they are fighting with each other .
I am always caught in the middle of it . and if I really feel that Shahid is right then I really fire Bebo …

Johar's first cuppa ups ratings on StarOne

MUMBAI: Karan Johar's candid talk show Koffee with Karan has done the deed for StarOne by clocking more than double the ratings in its second season with 1.6 TVR as opposed to 0.74 TVR in its last season (2004) across five metros Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore (Tam TG-CS, 4yrs+, SEC A).

The launch episode simulcast on StarOne and Star World which featured Johar's favourite trio Shah Rukh, Kajol and Rani drew in over 5.5 million eyeballs across the country with the reach on Star One being 5.04 million and Star World 0.66 million (TG-All India, CS 4yrs+).

Tam's elite panel data has thrown up even more refreshing news for the Star network, as the opening episodes of Koffee with Karan on StarOne received 4.2 TVR (TG-CS 4yrs+, SEC A1, Mumbai and Delhi). The shift to StarOne appears to have been a wise move by the network as the recent numbers that the show has belched up are encouraging.

Similarly, the simulcast rating on Star World got 1.4 TVR, but this again is specific to the Mumbai and Delhi Elite dominated Elite panel data.

Commenting on the response that premiere episode of the second season, Star India Entertainment Ltd EVP marketing Ajay Vidyasagar, says, "Koffee with Karan has been one of the most popular talk shows that has just the right mix of fun and excitement coupled with Karan's own unique style. We are delighted that the launch episode of Koffee with Karan on Star One and Star World has been a smashing hit with the opening episode TRPs having doubled over the last season."

In his jovial and witty persona Johar said, "We promised to serve our coffee hot but I am glad to see that the response is steaming!"

Bebo: John is expressionless!

ain't she picky! John Abraham

Kareena Kapoor made her dislike for John Abraham more than apparent on Sunday's episode of Koffee with Karan, calling the one actor she wouldn't want to work with, 'expressionless'.

But we're honestly thinking the young actress is being a tad too petty with apna Johnny boy.

Apparently, she didn't take too kindly to John picking Rani Mukerji over her as the better actress in last season's KwK, hence the serious misgivings.

But you know, it could also have to do with the fact that Johnny boy's main squeeze Bipasha Basu and Bebo are not exactly on the best of terms (remember the cat-fights they would indulge in on the sets of Ajnabee, and the reams of venomous interviews after?).

Oh, these B-Town boys and belles sure know how to keep the one-upmanship fires burning, no?

Excerpts from the interview :

Karan: When you came in.. you were criticized for being too western and no one really thought you will make it to the point you have! And now you are considered the first metrosexual hero that Indian cinema has to offer.

Saif: You better stop that because apparently it's quite in after the Bond film to be rugged! So don't call me metrosexy now!

Karan: We don't know what the word really means!
Saif: is it Gay?

Karan: No its not! It's definitely not gay!
Saif: Yeah! We know what it means.. I mean I do have a couple of creams in my bathroom that I like to use!

Karan: And do you go for a manicure or pedicure?
Saif: Once in a while! I feel having really ragged nails and split cuticles is no good! People judge people by their hands. I was told that! I look at hands quite a lot!

Karan: Oh dear! (Hiding hands)

Karan: Omkara and versatility of course the superstardom! Does it surprise you?
Saif: I won't call it superstardom!

Karan: It is! I'm calling it that and I'm from the inner circles of the film fraternity so if I'm saying it.. it must be true!
Saif: You are the circle of the film fraternity!

Karan: No I'm not! You are viable commercially? your critics love you ? everyone loves you! I know I'm gushing right now but it's all true!
Saif: I think I've been at it for sometime and I've learnt and grown. With all this also comes a sense of responsibility and this is my life! I'm really not capable of doing anything else as rewarding in every way- emotionally, financially. This is all I can do and I'm happy I can do it well! But its become more than getting happy.. getting a compliment or something? There's a long way to go! There's an entire life to take care of. This is my way of supporting myself and very seriously it's my career? it's what drives me! I've learnt that I need to do it and it's very much a part of who I am?

Karan: How did you think things worked out for Saif? Did you think he would be where he is today?
Soha: Fifteen years ago? No!

Karan: Do you feel proud of him today?
Soha: Hugely! I've seen all his films!

Karan: Contrary to you!
Saif: In many cases that's quite an achievement!
Soha: I haven't seen all of them! I've seen all the good ones and I'm so proud of him and of what he's achieved. I've spent more time with him in the last 3 years and now that I'm also working in films I end up meeting him more often even if it's on the set.

Karan: So is there anyone around?
Soha: No? not at the moment!

Karan: Your single?
Soha: Yes? single..

Karan: No Prince of Morocco?
Soha: No! That's bizarre.

Karan: I read it somewhere that the Prince of Morocco proposed to you?
Soha: We should ask my parents that because they'll know more than me. Sometimes proposals come that are filtered?
