KKusum cast gets sexy makeover

When you switch on the television set to watch Kkusum on June 6, don't be surprised to see Abhay Kapoor romance an ultra-glamorous Shilpa Saklani, while looking like a splitting image of Aamir Khan in Dil Chahta Hai.

"Sexy" makeovers of the soap's entire cast, including the main protagonists' entire family, are part of Sony's decision to re-package the serial in exchange for higher TRPs. The channel has roped in designer Rocky S and hairstylist Aalim among other grooming experts to give the cast a modern look.

For instance, Abhay Kapoor's sari-clad mother will now don churidars and his father will wear kurta pyjamas paired with a shawl slung over his shoulder.

Lead actor Anuj Saxena admitted, "Though the TRPs are not exceptionally high, the revamp is also meant to introduce Shilpa Saklani as the new Kkusum."

The show was recently in the news for Nausheen Ali Sardar's re-entry as Kkusum, though the role eventually went to Saklani. "The story will now focus on Abhay and Kkusum's love story, since this track was a hit," revealed Saxena.

The first episode of the repackaged show will be shot on May 30 on the sets of Sony's Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai. It will show Kapoor launching a jewellery line and walking the ramp at a fashion show with actresses Juhi Parmar, Rakshanda Khan, Mini Mathur, Tanaaz Currim and Nigar Khan.
