One night stands are not Yash Sinha's cup of tea

Like his onscreen character in Kituu Sab Jaanti Hai, Yash Sinha too believes in voicing his opinion. "I think drugs and smoking are the two things that are troubling our society." Is he going to be another celeb who will be taking a stand on social issues? "What's the harm in that?" he questions. "I think people listen to celebs and want to follow them. So if a celeb takes a stand on something that will benefit the society, I am sure it will only be for the better," feels Yash. The actor also feels that the youth is too much under the influence of the western culture. "Infidelity in unacceptable to me. Things like one night stand and infidelity do not belong to our culture," he says. But isn't the TV and film industry propagating the western culture through loads of steamy scenes? Yash argues, "We have a censor board that is the deciding factor in such things. As for me, I'll cross the bridge only when I come to it."

Ami's torn chappals

If Sandeep Rajora is known for his stinginess, he has company in Ami Trivedi, the perky Kittu of SaharaOne's Kittu Sab Jaanti Hai. According to reliable sources on the sets, Ami has been spotted in a pair of worn out and torn chappals for the past one month without even getting it mended.

Another interesting story doing the rounds is she freely uses cosmetics and toiletries from her co-star's personal vanity bags to dab on herself. Considering she is playing the title role in the serial and lead actors of television industry are known to get a fairly good amount as remuneration, we find Ami's behaviour rather surprising.

Now, come on Ami, we know you are a generous gal, don't take so much
time to show it!

Yash is a good samaritan

Yash Sinha who plays a journalist in Kittu Sab Janti Hai, had a great time on his birthday. No, the actor didn't throw a party or go on a vacation, instead he donated the money that he had kept aside for the party to an NGO in Bihar. The NGO based in Yash's home town deals with AIDS awareness and handles issues relating to women and kids. The actor who is also a part of Rishton Ki Dorr, says, "After the Mumbai blasts I had decided not to celebrate my birthday. And since I had kept the money aside for the party, I thought I could use it for a good cause." Great gesture Yash!

Another reality dance show, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, will feature celebrities who will hone their dancing skills, assisted by ace choreographers

Reena Thapar Kapoor

Shveta Salve
"I can dance well. Well, I'd like to believe that. But I also know that I'm going to be competing with the very best. Now is the time to prove my worth. I'm a bit nervous but at the same time I'm confident of my capabilities."

Rati Aglihotri
"I believe, if you are an actress you have to be a good dancer as well. I'm a trained dancer but here I am not competing with my colleagues. While some are young, others are of my age. We just have to wait and see what happens!

Mahesh Manjrekar
"I'm a director and an actor as well. I think, my vision as a director will help me hone my dancing skills. Though I must confess that I'm not a fabulous dancer and that's unnerving. Let's see what's in store for me!"

Sanjeev Kapoor
"I can dance well. Well, I'd like to believe that. But I also know that I'm going to be competing with the very best. Now is the time to prove my worth. I'm a bit nervous, but at the same time, I'm confident of my capabilities."

Mona Singh
"I'm told that Punjabis are great dancers. I feel that after Jhalak Dikhla Ja, I'll be ready to rock and roll on the big screen as well. I know that I'm going to be competing with the biggies, but I'm not bad either."

Pooja Bedi
"Dancing off screen is entirely different from what we see on-screen. I can't recall the last time I wore my dancing shoes. Here, you have to be in tandem with your choreographer and do several rehearsals. Hopefully, I'll be able to pull it off."

Akashdeep Saigal
"I do everything with great conviction. I've participated in this competition only because I'm sure of myself. If I were a mediocre dancer I'd never have taken a risk. Though it's a tough competition, I hope to do well."

Ajay Jadeja
"I'm quite comfortable in front of the camera. But I admit that it's not going to be a cakewalk for me. I will make sure that I don't goof-up. I'll try my level best not to disappoint the judges."

Aparna plays real life doc for Shveta

Aparna Tilak

A friend in need is a friend indeed! And Aparna Tilak amply proved this to her dear friend Shveta Salve recently while shooting for the military academy based serial, Left Right Left (SAB TV), in which she essays the role of Dr.Shalini Singhal, a jovial and fun-loving medico.

A terrorist attack was being picturised on the outdoor sets of this show, replete with a bomb explosion where everyone had to run helter-skelter and Rajeev Khandelwal was supposed to do a superman dive to save Shveta, who plays Dr. Ritu Mishra, a psychologist in the show. "In the milieu, both of us fell down and the huge kada on my right hand hurt my wrist. Fortunately it was just a ligament tear that got healed with a wrist support I wore for a few days," says Shveta, who is all excited about grooving in Sony's dance show, Jhalak Dikhla Ja. The svelte actress is used to doing her own stunts as she reveals, "For an episode in CID (Sony) I performed a 100ft jump, of course with suspensions."

Shveta Salve

When she fell, the cast and crew jokingly called out to Dr.Shalini (that is Aparna Tilak) to attend the patient. But Aparna took it seriously and quickly responded by helping out her co-star and best friend. "As soon as she saw the swelling on my wrist, she perfunctorily acted doctor on the sets and kept an ice-pack and sprayed a medication", informs Shveta. Incidentally, Aparna's husband is a doctor and so her acquired first-aid knowledge came in handy.

Now that's some sort of a remarkable deed of putting your knowledge instinctively into action!

REVEALED:Kituu's secret past

didn't work out: Ami Trivedi

Sab nahin jaante ki Ami Trivedi was in a relationship for four years
Vickey Lalwani
vickey.lalwani@mid-day.com

Before Manish Goswami's show Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai went on air, Ami Trivedi (who plays Kituu in Shahara One's Kituu Sabb Jaantii Hai) was dating Yogesh Pagare (known as Yogi) for nearly four years. Yogi works with Ram Gopal Varma these days.

Gujju connection
28-year-old Yogi first met Ami during her theatre days. The couple acted together in a Gujarati play called Gujju Bhaiye Gaam Gajavyu. Yogi has also acted in serials like Hip Hip Hooray, Star Best Sellers, Aahat, Rishtey and X Zone among others, but later shifted his focus to writing and direction. He was also seen in Ekta Kapoor's Kyunki Saas... as Sejal's brother-in-law. The grapevine is that he is ready with a script that Prawal Raman (Darna Mana Hai, Gayab) is supposed to direct for Ramu, and is waiting for the go-ahead signal.
Sources say, "Once Kituu... went on air, Ami started behaving differently with Yogi. Both were very serious about each other. But they don't wash their linen in public, so the reasons for their differences and the consequent split were never known."

We're not friends
When contacted, Yogi was hesitant to talk about his past. He later admitted, "Ami and I were in a relationship for more than three years. It's over now, we've gone our different ways."
As for the reason for their break-up, Yogi said, "We've both moved on in life. Let's not look back. Ami is a closed chapter in my life. I will not say that we are still good friends. We are not in touch."

On the other hand, Ami said, "Yogi and I were seeing each other. To be honest, Yogi has been the only guy in my life so far. I would not like to elaborate on what went wrong. Simply put, things didn't work out between us."

Workaholic
On the professional front, Ami is so busy with Kituu... that she cannot think of any other assignment. "I am shooting virtually thirty days in a month," says Ami, a science graduate. At one point, Ami had aspired to be a doctor. Things changed when she began doing Gujarati theatre. Her father is well-known theatre actor, Tushar Trivedi, who has been involved in Gujarati plays for over 20 years. Her brother, Karan Trivedi, is also into theatre.

'I'm certainly not kanjoos!'

Ami Trivedi denies using colleagues' make-up kits

Sapana Patil Poojary

Ami Trivedi aka Kituu of Kituu Sab Jaanti Hai is very upset because an internet magazine reported her as being stingy to the extent that she wears worn-out chappals and digs on her co-stars' make-up kits. When contacted, Ami expressed her disgust over the report.

She says, "How could they write something like this? At least they should have checked the facts before publishing anything. I am okay with negative things being published about artistes, provided they are true. I understand that people like to read gossips but this is not done."

A furious Ami further adds, "Apparently, it has come to them from a source. But don't you think that the so-called source can lie too? Who knows, but it is possible that someone, who is jealous of me might want to project me in a bad light... I am sure of it. Even I can say things about my rivals, but shouldn't the media check before publishing it?"

Ask her if she suspects anyone and she says, "I don't know who could have done this. I trust my co-stars. It can't be any of them. I know, once you are in the spotlight, people try to spoil your reputation. So far, I have never had any problem with the press. But this time it's just been ridiculous. I am shocked. Although I don't plan to sue the publication, I want to tell them that it's unfair to publish things which are not true," she says.

I respect him greatly. He is like an elder brother to me and he can be angry with me. But like an elder brother he should forgive."

Mr Goswami are you listening?
