"Aur usse kuch pata nahi hoga toh?"

"Shefu... baby! Agar bhabhi ko pata nahi hoga toh voh bro se ugalva lengi."

"Lekin Romit, tumhe aisa kyu laga ki kuch gadbad hai."

"Bas... kal sab mujhe bohat tension mein lagey. As if they were waiting for something to happen." Romit lay back on his bed with the phone in his hand.

"Hmm... baadmein mujhe bhi Arohi thodi distracted lagi. Aur Gauri toh ekdam chupp hogayi."

"Pata hai... Rashi di ko bhi kuch chot laggayi thi. Aur achanak sanchit... YES! We should ask Sanchit. Usse jaroor pata hoga. Mein abhi usse call karta hoon!"

"Thik hai. Tum usse call karke mujhe phone karo. Ek kaam karo. Ussey kehna humey college canteen mein miley. Wahi thik se baat karenge."

"Ok... Done!"

Lovedeep held her head and closed her eyes. Too much information! That was all that she could think... and her poor little brain could not take that stress. Luckily there were sitting on a bench in the open park, or else or any closed space would have made Love feel claustrophobed!

Arohi waited patiently as she saw her bua react so unlike her. She waited till Love sighed deeply and looked up, straight in to her eyes.

"Ye tuney mujhe pehle kyu nahi bataya?"

"Bua... kisi aur ko involve karna means risking that persons life. So we didnot want to take any chances. But now..."

"Now kya??? Tujhe aur Arjun ko realise hua ki tumlog insaan ho and that you should ask for help??!!"

Arohi flinched at the hurt tone in her aunts voice. Where people wanted to stay away from other peoples troubles, there was her family which wanted to know each and every small thing happening with her and Arjun. Arohi scooted closer to her bua and took her hand in hers.

"Bua... mein jaanti hoon ki aapko bohat bura laga hoga. Lekin yakin maaniye, humara iraada aapse kuch chupaane ka nahi tha. In fact, humey khud kuch dino pehle pata chala hai..."

Lovedeep gave a defeated look and pressed Arohis hand lightly. "Teri Gauri se baat hui?"

Arohi shook her head. "Thik se nahi. Voh kaafi dari hui hai aur... mein nahi chahti ki meri vajah se koi aur musibat khadi ho jaaye. Lekin meine Simi se baat ki hai... usse kuch bataya nahi hai, lekin kuch bhi karke Gauri ko lekar bahar kahi milne ke liye kaha hai. Agar humey kuch karna hai toh Gauri ko hamara saath dena hoga."

"Hmm... waise sach kaha hai kisine. Swarg aur Nark dono dharti par hi hai. Apne karmon ki sazaa Rab humey yahi dete hai. Kisne socha tha ki bholi surat aur shatir dimaag waali Gauri ek din khud musibat mein phass jaayegi. Aur usski help voh log karrahe hai jinhe ussne sabse jyaada chot pohachayi hai. Shayad yahi usski saza bhi hai. Zindagi bhar voh ye baat bhul nahi paayegi ki jarurat padne par usski iss dost ne usska saath diya."

Arohi smiled. Love for her was oozing out from Lovedeeps talks as she reprimanded Gauri yet again for stabbing her best friend in the back.

"Chal... ab mujhe jaana hai. Meri pehli meeting hain for a corporate contract, Rashi ka koi purana dost hai. Late jaungi toh impression achha nahi hoga. Tujhe pata haina tujhe kya karna hai?"

Arohi nodded her head. "Mein aapse baad mein baat karti hoon."

The aunt-niece hugged each other and set off on their way to the surprise that lay for them ahead.

"Daaaddd..."

Oblivious to his sons whining, Arjun tightened his grip around Raj, hugging him as if they had met after years. Raj frowned and stood still, with his hands at his sides, waiting for his father to release him. All he had wanted was to sleep in till late because he was exhausted from the picnic. But Arjun had woken him up, bathed him, fed him breakfast and had suddenly in a fit of love display, was trying to crush him by hugging him so tight.

Arjun pulled back and looked at Raj's face. He brushed his hand through his sons hair, combing the unruly curls with his fingers. Holding his face, Arjun continued to stare at his sons confused expressions.

"Raj... tum... thik ho na beta???"

Raj frowned seeing the worry on Arjuns face.

"Haan dad... bas thoda thakk gaya hoon. Kal ki picnic ki wajah se..."

Arjun smiled as Raj spoke in his typical tired childish voice. "Why don't you come to my room? Hum video games khelte hain..."

"Not now dad. Mera homework complete hone ke baad, warna mom daantegi. I will finish my homework and come. Ok?"

Arjun smiled and nodded his head. Raj grinned and ran back to his room. Arjun stood up and stared after his sons retreating figure. His smile faded as Raj went out of his sight. He was not able to trace any sadness in Raj, even in yesterdays picnic he looked quite happy and cheerful. But Arjun knew that his son was mature for his age, and he didnot want him hiding anything... especially his feelings. No one knew better than Arjun, what does suppressing feelings at this age can bring about changes in a persons character as an adult. And so he was determined to give Raj, as normal childhood as he can.

Arjuns thoughts took him back to the holi day and he frowned. He didnot wish to see that kind of sadness on Raj's face again... ever!

FLASHBACK

Arjuns cheeks had started hurting from all the grinning! He had just hit Arohi with a water balloon... hard. It had landed square on her upper back, right where the kurta ended. The water had drenched her and the impact had stinged her skin. Arohis irritated expression had made Arjun smile wider and after swearing to get back to him, Arohi had walked off from there. Arjun had hid behind the trees near the swimming pool area, to avoid a fuming Arohi roaming around, with a massive water balloon in her hand. Before he made to move out, he heard some loud talking and he ended up listening to Sanchit and Arvind Ahluwalias conversation.

He knew that Arvind and Sudhir still didn't approve of him, but the way Sanchit defended him made his heart soar. After they both went back to the holi party, Arjun saw a small figure move out from there with his shoulders slumped. Arjun realised that Raj had heard the conversation too and his body language told him that it made him sad. Seeing him move towards the exit, Arjun followed him hurriedly.

Just as he turned towards the parking lot, Arjun saw Raj talking to someone and he stopped. Sneaking softly, he went near to see who it was. And he was totally surprised to see ACP Rajveer Singh Ahluwalia, crouched on his knees, wipe his sons tears. Arjun blinked in confusion. This was the first time he had seen Rajveer behave so softly towards anyone other than his family. Arjuns thoughts brought him to the present when he heard him speak equally softly.

"Kya aapne jo suna... voh sunke aapko bura laga?"

Raj nodded slowly. Arjuns heart went out to see the sadness on his sons face, never before had Raj been so quiet till today.

"Voh uncle... voh uncle mere dad ke baare mein bura kyu bol rahe they??? Mere dad bohat ache hain... voh criminal nahi hain!!!"

Rajveer looked on surprised at Raj's assertiveness. He held Raj by his shoulders "Jaanta hoon. Lekin ye baat voh uncle nahi jaante. Issliye toh Sanchit unhe samjhane ki koshish karraha tha."

"Mere dad world ke best dad hain. Unke jaisa koi nahi! Aur meri mom bhi. Mujhe meri sagi mom bhi itna pyaar nahi karti thi jitna Arohi mom karti hai... aur Rashi mom bhi!"

Rajveer smiled at the innocent confession.

"Fir sab mere dad ko hate kyu karte hain???"

The pain in Raj's eyes and voice brought tears in Arjuns. He wanted to go to his son and hug him right away.

"Sab nahi... Sirf Sudhir bhaiya. And he has a reason for it. Lekin baaki sab... they don't hate him. Infact DJ, Lovedeep, Amrit bhabhi and Sanchit are fond of Arjun. Bass... haalaat aise hain ki they cant openly display what they feel for him."

"Aur aap???"

Raj's question caught Rajveer off guard. He looked at Raj's innocent eyes sceptically. Arjun held his breath to hear the answer.

"Mein???" Rajveer let go of Raj and got up. He walked to the nearby planter edge and sat on it, Raj went next to him.

"Mein tumhare dad ko hate karta THA. Lekin ab nahin. In fact i don't know what i should feel for him. But i know one thing... i trust Arohi. And so if she trusts Arjun, then it is good enough for me."

Raj studied the adult in front of him.

"Pata hai Rashi mom kya kehti hai? Voh kehti hai ki koi kisi ko love kare ya na kare, lekin koi kisiko trust karta hai then voh love se jyada important hai. Kyuki love ke bina trust ho sakta hai lekin trust ke bina love nahin."

Rajveers eyebrows jumped up in surprise, hearing pearls of wisdom from this little budhha. Arjun imitated his expressions standing behind the wall.

"Rashi thik kehti hai... you're too smart for your age."

"Aap bhi bohat inteli... intell..."

"...intelligent?"

"Haan... intelligent ho. Kyuki aapke naam mein bhi 'Raj' hain."

Rajveer chuckled and Raj grinned. Arjun smiled at his sons confidence. Where many people were scared of this angry ACP, his son was giving him a certificate of being intelligent! Suddenly Arjun felt a bit jealous and possessive towards his son, seeing him bond with another man.

"... isiliye toh aap Rashi mom se hamesha staring game mein jeet jaate ho!"

Rajveer jumped up and looked around. He kept a finger on his lips indicating Raj to keep quiet and guided him inside the house for refreshments.

Neither of them noticed the frozen statue of Arjun with confused expressions on his face.

FLASHBACK ENDS

Three things had stumped Arjun that day.

One. Rajveers soft side and the way he had cajoled Raj.

Two. His confession that he trusted Arjun because Arohi did.

And Three. What was this staring game with Rashi di???

Arjun had tried to figure out this man ever since but he failed to understand. He had seen the changes in Rajveer over a period of time and Arohi had told him about how he supported her too. But he never expected him to actually talk the way he did to Raj when he was upset. Neither did he voice his opinion nor did he feed Raj any lies. But the entire conversation told him that his outlook towards Arjun was positive. And that confused him!

Maybe he should tell Arohi about this whole encounter. She might be able to understand and even talk to Rajveer about it. It could probably help them in uncovering Mikhails plan and protect Gauri and Simi. It was obviously clear that Rajveer was no longer holding on to any grudges and so he wont have any issues in helping Gauri. Yes. He should talk to Arohi.

But what was this staring game with Rashi Di?????????????

"Come in..."

Arohi took a deep breath as the strong voice spoke and she turned the door knob to enter the cabin. Shutting the door softly behind her, she walked slowly and stood in front of the main desk. Her steps were unsure but determined, her gaze was worried but steady, her body language was anxious but confident. Arohi stopped near the massive glass table, waiting for the man sitting in the chair to leave the file in his hand and acknowledge her presence.

History was repeating itself, yet with a twist. This time Arohi was not here to warn this man, well she was going to potray it that way. But she had half baked information about his involvement in all the mess that was happening around her and she could not go in to an accusing mode. But the facts that she had, were rock-solid and she was going to bank on them. She had memorised the whole speech a thousand times in her mind when she was on her way here, but she also knew that the person whom she was dealing with, had the capacity to throw her completely off balance.

Keeping his eyes on the file, he pointed to the chair, indicating that Arohi should seat herself. As she made herself comfortable, she stared at his concentrating figure. She would be lying if she said that she was not even a little bit impressed by this personality. His aura and the way he conducted himself, demanded undivided attention from anyone that he was talking to. Not only was his brain as sharp as his tongue but it was as clear as his goals too.

The only thing that Arohi hoped is that he had not repeated the same mistake twice. Because if he had, then this time Arohi wont spare him, this was her promise to herself. Not matter how smart or powerful he was! She straightened in her seat when he shut the file and kept it down. Scribbling a few words on his notepad, he kept the pen down, removed his glasses and ran a hand on his hairless head. Running the same hand on his face, he looked up at the person sitting in front of him. And for the first time Arohi felt respect as she stared into her father-in-laws emotionless eyes.

i will be starting to unfold some twists now as even Arohis head is spinning with all the mystery 😆 need you love and support in the form on likes and comments 😳 its important for me to know where you guys see this story going or even what you would like to see... thank you all for giving MR so much love 🤗

In all this her main concern was Arjun. If Natasha even tried to put a scratch on him, she will kill her with her bare hands. Maybe she shoud confide in one more person who could help them... maybe it was time.
