Well if you see in the show Preet isn't exactly Lalit's favorite child now is
he 😆 ? He's always messing around with his dad which angers Lalit 😡
a lot....so keeping that in mind and the relationship they share in the
show...I decided to include it in the fanfic as well. Heer will open up to
Prem 😳 gradually....she needs to get to know him first....anyone would

Aww you're really over-doing it 😳....there is still a lot of room for

Thank you 😊! Yeah they are really cute together 😳. I wanted to include
all the characters to add a more of a realistic touch to the fanfic as even
in the show its highly impossible for them to just focus on Premeer. I'll

First of all I'm so sorry for the delay. I was meant to update this fanfic on Wednesday but didn't manage to and then yesterday I fell ill. One week later, Mann House, Ambala.
Gayatri and Teji had turned the whole house upside down by now. It was unbelievable! Heer and Prem were too be engaged that evening and the preparations for the lavish ceremony were on in full swing. In the past week everyone had been extremely busy. Veera and Kujraj who had arrived by now with her husband and daughter spent the week sight- seeing with Meher who took them around. Harman spent the week co-ordinating with the Mumbai branch of his firm. After Prem's wedding the family had decided to stay back in India. Well at least Lalit and Gayatri would. Kulraj however would return to Canada with her family and so would Veera and Preet as both still needed to complete their studies. Harman was still busy deciding what he wanted to do. He could easily join his firm's branch in Mumbai but he wasn't sure if he wanted to do just that. "Chachi aapne bulaya kya?" Heer asked entering the kitchen where almost all the ladies were. Before Gayatri could answer, Prem arrived as well "Maa, kya hua? Koyi kaam tha kya? Aapne mujhe itni achanaak bulaya?" Gayatri chuckled at her son's behaviour. Prem would often panic esspecially if it was related to his mom. "Are baba....tu chup karega! Maine tum dono ko isliye bulaya tha...kyunki Heer ka sagai ka jora laana hai. Aur woh kangan jo maine banwaane diye the Jewelers ko. Tum leyaona." Gayatri calmed her son down whilst she explained the situation. "Acha theek hai Maa....I'll go right away." he said turning towards the door. "Uff...Prem, Heer ko saath lekar jaa....I want her too try both things." Gayatri added trying to suppress her laughter. This was everyone's plan to allow the two lovebirds too spend some time together. Well Preet had come up with it initially but everyone else had supported him in executing it excluding Balraaj and Lalit who were too busy re-living old memories they had hung on too all these years. Prem agreed to what his mother said and quietly requested Heer to get dressed whilst he waited outside. She rushed of to her room and returned 10 minutes later wearing a beautiful blue suit. Prem at first was unable to take his eyes of her. It was when Heer brought him back too reality by waving her hand in front of him that Prem realized he wasn't dreaming. The Jewellers and Boutique were both close by and so they chose to walk over there. The journey there and back was a silent one. Both the suit and Kangan fitted perfectly and they returned home with both things in hand. Upon their arrival, Heer found her Chacha and Chachi both seated in the living room along with the rest of the grown ups. Her greeted them pleasantly and Prem was also introduced to Heer's uncle and aunt who both seemed quite nice. But little did Prem know what Daljeet was up-to with her good for nothing husband. It had been his habit to look for the good in people ignoring any flaws that may be present. That evening the whole town had been invited to attend the engagement of Prem and Heer. The whole house had been decorated and lighted with illuminating lights. Soon, it was time to exchange rings and as Heer raised her hand to place it in Prem's everyone gazed at the couple lovingly except for Daljeet. She had been waiting to create some sort of drama and before you knew it she accidently tripped over resulting in Prem dropping the ring he was about to put on Heer. Everyone became busy in looking for it but how were they going to find something that wasn't there anymore. Daljeet had been intelligent enough to make it disappear all together. Prem didn't understand how it could just disappear and neither did Heer who was shocked out of her wits. Some guests began whispering that it was an abshagun but they were shushed by Prem immediately. He took the ring of he had worn since childhood that his late Nani had gifted and to everyone's surprise he put it on Heer's ring finger. "Are Heer, mujhe anghooti nahi panoongi kya?" he asked casually asked pretending nothing had gone wrong. Heer slipped on the ring she had purchased for Prem with her mum and everyone applauded. Daljeet's plan had failed! She had hoped that the engagement would be postponed considering what a firm believer Lalit was in what was auspicious and when but even Lalit did not object to what Prem had done. Prem did not allow or give his father enough time to do so. He had handled the situation with such maturity that amazed everyone. __________________________________________________________________________________

"Preet! Kidhar gaya yeh larka? Gayatri!" Lalit screamed at the top of his voice as he rushed around his bedroom wearing just a towel. Preet had played a prank on his father yet again by exchanging the soap with itching powder. Lalit had been able to tell immediately that this was Preet's doings. "Are aapko kya hogaya hai? Itna ooncha kyun chila rahe hain? Sab kuch theek toh hai na?" "Kuch theek nahi hai. Tum bas mujhe yeh batao kahaan gaya woh larka. Aaj toh main poore yakeen seh keh sakta hoon....woh mera beta ho hi nayi sakta." Gayatri had figured out that Preet must have played some sort of prank to upset his father, but in order to gather more information she questioned her husband asking him to explain what exactly had taken place in her absence. It was still very early in the morning and Gayatri had gone to the local market with Teji to give her company. As far as she knew everyone was still asleep. Lalit continuously itching himself here and there disclosed what their darling son had done once again and Gayatri could not help but suppress her laughter. She promised she'd find Preet and tell him off but even Lalit knew that wouldn't happen. His wife was too soft hearted to yell at anyone let alone her own children. The engagement had already taken place the evening before, and was certainly the talk of town. A date hadn't been decided for the wedding as everyone was still awaiting the arrival of the Pandit who would be arriving from a religious pilgrimage very soon. Once he was back, they'd be able to take this further. However, one thing was clear, with everyone's busy schedules and lives to get back too along with Prem as well as Heer's eagerness, the wedding would have to take place very soon. That would be the best option for everyone and would also prevent Daljeet from stopping the marriage in any sort of way. __________________________________________________________________________________
"Balraaj, mujhe pata tujhe yeh acha nahi lag raha keh tere hote hue main kahin aur jaa kar rahoon lekin aakhir hum larke waale hain aur tum larki waale. Bahut jald humari yeh dosti, rishtedaari mein badal jayegi. Aur meri aur Gayatri ki khwaish hai keh hum Heer ko shaadi keh baad uske sasuraal leke jaye. Tu toh jaanta hi hai Ludhiana mein humara ghar hai. Maine woh ghar Prem aur Heer keh liye banwaya tha. Kyun na hum Ludhiana jaakar shaadi karein? Udhar tum log Balwant keh saath reh lena woh Heer ka maykaa hojayega aur hum apne ghar mein reh lenge. Kya khayaal hai?" After Lalit's long but extremely important explanation, Balraaj agreed to his decision. They soon decided that everyone would leave for Ludhiana the next day and everyone became busy in packing. Prem wasn't very pleased with his father's decision. Although he perfectly understood what his parents meant, this move would mean he would have less time to spend with Heer as she'd now be living with her Chacha and family. __________________________________________________________________________________
