Part 5

Hello to all my lovely readers!

Here I am with another part and I seriously hope I can live up-to all your expectations! The comments I've received have been so encouraging....its unbelievable and the only reason I continue to write this fanfic is for all of you. This part is particularly dedicated to Zainab (Zainu di) as well as Nandini and all my other readers. Ever since I started this fanfic they've not only been regular readers but also commented regularly and I appreciate that. Taking time out just too read this fanfic means a lot too me and so thank you all so much. One more person I'd like to mention is Salma....after her comments I can't stop smiling. They make me feel over the moon and so I'd also like to dedicate this part to her. Now I'll shut my mouth and allow you all to move on to the actual reason for this post..i.e Part 5.

Prem stared intently down at the petit figure of his to be wife. She looked nervous, and as if she wanted to be anywhere but there at that moment. Prem's heart melted at seeing her like this, but at the same time he didn't want to loose this opportunity.

"Aap yeh kya kar rahe hain? Agar coffee ban gayi ho toh chalein. Sab intezaar kar rahe honge." Heer finally spoke up in an attempt to leave.

Prem just continued to stare down at her completely ignoring her words. At that moment, all he wanted to do was engulf her into a hug but Prem knew better. It would be too sudden and perhaps even frighten his innocent looking fiancee. He didn't like her in such a state. He wanted to see her smile again. The reason he had fallen in love with her at first sight. Her smile lighted the entire room with the beautiful glow it radiated leaving Prem totally breathless. He now felt the need to say something before he lost complete control over himself. It was unbelievable how someone who had earlier been so focussed in life, serious about everything and had no time for anything but work, now wanted to be so carefree and irresponsible by taking this girl in front of him into his arms but he couldn't. So, instead he tried to restore the deteriorating situation to its previous state forgetting any romantic thoughts that came to his mind.

"Chalo at least you said something besides Ji. As for leaving.....tum chali jao. I'll be there in a couple of minutes." Prem said as he very well knew he couldn't return to the living room where everyone was like this. If not everyone then at least his brother would be able to tell what he had been up-to. His hair would remind anyone of their favorite teddy bear - all worn out and muffled.

"Main kaise jaoon. Aap jaane denge toh main jaaoongi na." Heer answered very frustrated. She knew very well where Prem's mind kept wandering as he stared down at her.

Prem realizing his foolishness and how close the two of them had been moved out of her way "Woh I'm sorry...tum jaa sakti ho".

Heer left although her heart wanted to remain with Prem in that kitchen, her mind didn't allow her to do so. More importantly her culture, values and ethics didn't permit this. They weren't even engaged yet. Of course their alliance had been decided on but nothing more had been done to take it forward and until then neither would she. How could she? What was undeniable however was that she had given her heart to Prem the day her eyes had met his, on their very first meeting.

Back in the Living Room Meher interrupted her elder sister's thoughts and took her away to their room. Heer didn't feel like being teased by her sister once again or as a matter of fact by any family member. She was fed up by now. But that wasn't why her sister had dragged her away from the living room and into their bedroom. Well it was partly the reason but it was also to find out about Heer's feelings, for Prem. She may have openly accepted the alliance at dinner but Meher knew her Didi and she had in the past as well hidden her true emotions from everyone including her on a number of occasions. That too just for the happiness of her family, particularly their parents. Heer could tell how concerned Meher was for her but she managed to assure her instantly without admitting to the fact that she was in love with Prem and she couldn't imagine life without him and with any other man.

The next day there was nothing but uproar in the Mann house as Lalit and the rest of the Juneja family was set to arrive. Balraaj was eagerly waiting for his childhood friend's return whilst Teji was busy in preparations for their arrival. Rather than helping her mother, Heer was busy in her own thoughts. As for Meher well no one expected her to help except with finishing all the food. Prem also couldn't wait to see his family. He wanted to lie in his mother's lap and tell her all about Heer. Since his childhood he had always confided in his mother about anything and everything. It wasn't that he didn't love his father equally. He did but they shared a more formal relationship. Unlike his PB, Preet was dreading Lalit's arrival. Although he too wanted to see the rest of his family, his dad's arrival meant doom for Preet in other words.

A while later, the whole Juneja clan had arrived and the whole atmosphere had changed dramatically as everyone exchanged pleasantries and greeted one another. Balraaj and Lalit became emotional seeing each other after what it seemed liked decades.

Veera ever since her arrival in India had found it difficult to adjust to things but for the sake of her family, specifically Prem whom she could clearly see was madly in love with Heer tried her best to do so. Harman also settled in rather quickly but kept mostly too himself being the quiet guy he was. Gayatri and Bebe spent most of their time with Teji. Soon it was decided that Prem and Heer's engagement would take place the following week once Balraaj's younger brother and family had arrived and it would surely be a grand affair. Everyone was over the moon and many felt as if it was all too good to be true. Unfortunately the arrival of Prem's family gave him very little time to romance with Heer and although Heer missed Prem's company greatly, she was extremely grateful that she didn't have to have any more encounters similar to the one in the kitchen with him yesterday.
