As Heer yelled out Prem's name everyone present there were just stunned and her heart stopped to beat for the following seconds. She couldn't believe he lost the grip and fell. She just couldn't bear it and her eyes shut immediately.
The firefighters rushed immediately to his aid and everything happened so suddenly that they all seemed alarmed.
However there was a big sigh of relief when luckily Prem grabbed onto the ladder mid way of his fall so he was safe. He crashed against it hard yet he held on tight which was a close call. Otherwise he would have certainly broken many of his bones.
When everyone yelled out as Prem hit the ladder, Heer opened her eyes and and once again her heart skipped a beat as she saw him safe. Tears flowed out of her eyes and she silently thanked God for saving him.
RV and Naina were busy with the paramedics as they took care of the twins who looked very frightened. RV had both of them in his arms as the check up took place. It was necessary to comfort them. He had kept his little girls from any harms of the world and had made sure they were always protected yet that incident had not only shaken them but him too.
The firefighters helped Prem climb down the ladder and when he reached the ground Heer ran up to him and instantly hugged him. "I was so afraid that I would lose you." She cried and held him tight.
The hug was sudden and Prem didn't know what to do. Yes it was true that he was able to understand her feelings then yet he was still unsure whether the act was appropriate. Even if he wanted to he couldn't wrap his arms around her and console her that he was alright and she didn't need to cry.
Soon she realised what she did and gradually departed from him. Then felt conscious and couldn't find the courage to look him in the eye so she looked down towards the ground. "I'm sorry it's just that the whole incident has overwhelmed me a lot." Then she looked up only to find his arm bleeding. "Oh no your arm is bleeding." She held it and examined it then quickly took him to the paramedics before it became worse.
All that while, he stared at her and her concern for him. Never before had anyone taken care of him like that and he had to admit that he liked it very much. Her tears touched his heart and he desperately wanted to wipe them away from her face yet he held back.
She certainly was busy fussing over him and watched over as the paramedics applied medicine and bandaged his arm. She could barely see or understand anything else. Of course she couldn't because her love for him was to such extent that his pain was unbearable for her.
Prem tried to calculate many things in that moment. Heer's affection towards him seriously confused him. By then of course he had made up the mind that he held similar feelings for her yet was still hesistant to express them. That was the confusing part. At one stance he continuously day dreamed about her and her love and then went around kissing her, yet when it came to confessing anything he held back. Perhaps, because his brain still disagreed with his heart. That simply meant that he wasn't in full submission of his heart.
Finally when his dressing was finished she turned towards him and saw how he stared at her. She could sense a silent gratitude in the deepness of his eyes which locked her into stance. What was about his eyes which always had the same affect on her? It was his eyes which had cast a spell on her in their very first meeting by the poolside in the Mumbai house. She could still remember how at the first instance she had felt that connection with him, as if she had known him her whole life.
The police did various investigations on how the fire was caught and after the enquiries from the servants and caretakers, an officer came towards RV. He asked him what exactly had happened yet RV was obviously clueless because he wasn't even present.
The tension and stress had taken over Naina quite badly and she was agitated to see her kids and husband in danger.
Heer saw her restless so went over to her leaving Prem, to make sure she was alright. Of course she felt very bad about what happened because somewhere it was her fault too. She should have taken the twins out immediately after she found out what Prem did. Yet she got carried away with her inhibitions towards him and forgot about her duties. "Are you alright Naina?" she asked as she stood beside her.
Naina glared up at her, "do you really think I'll be alright Heer?" Yet she spoke softly but her tone was harsh. "My kids were thrown into the mouth of danger and barely escaped it in the nick of time and then my husband also went into the same danger." Tears flowed out of her eyes. "And you expect me to be alright?"
"Sorry." Heer said meekly as she really didn't know what else to say.
It just excited Naina further and she stood up not carrying about the jerk she would get because of that and could put stress over the baby. "Sorry? You're Sorry Heer? I put them in your care and this is what happened. How could you be so careless? I trusted you and you just..." she was too distressed and stopped turning away from her.
RV and the officer heard her so RV came over to console her whilst the officer enquired from Heer. Since she was in the house so what exactly happened?
The previous events ran into her head about how Prem locked the kids in the room and then it caught fire. She couldn't by any means, take his name and put him into trouble. "The kids were playing in the room and I left them there thinking they would be alright and didn't pay attention." She gave a guilty look. "It was my fault."
Just then Prem arrived as he couldn't bear her taking the blame on herself when in reality it was his fault. "No officer it wasn't her fault, it was mine." RV and Naina stared at him with shock. "I was the one who locked the girls inside the room out of anger and then was too late to realise about the fire."
The information struck RV bad and he couldn't believe Prem did that. "What? You locked my daughters inside the room?" he looked outraged. "How dare you do such a thing?" he wanted answers. "Mere baccho ko aaj tak kisi ne unchi awaaz me tak baat nahi ki or tumne onke saath itna behreham suluk kiya." He was really angry with Prem and felt like hitting him yet he held himself back. It was true that his anger was terrible but he had learnt to control it very well now. "Do you have any idea what could have happened to them if we wouldn't have rescued them? They could have died Prem." He yelled. "And all because of your arrogance and ill temper. What you did is unforgivable and I can't believe I ever thought of you as my friend." He turned away totally antoganised.
Yes Prem felt very bad about his actions and really felt sorry. Yet he even knew that apologising wasn't going to solve anything. "I know what I did was wrong and I'm sorry." RV shrugged him off and didn't look at him at all.
The information still wasn't sufficient enough for the officer. It still didn't show how the fire was caught as the twins were alone in the room yet how did the fire catch on?
A tiny hand came and held RV's hand. He looked down with tears in his eyes towards his five year old and just closed his eyes thanking God that she was alright.
"Daddy, it wasn't Prem uncle's fault." Sneha spoke quietly as she was still shaken up from the incident. "We were playing in the room and Simran found something which we both didn't know what it was. Then all of a sudden there was this fire because of it." She continued. "So it wasn't uncle's fault." RV bobbed down and took her in his arms.
Prem was touched by the way the little girl defended him. He had been so mean towards them yet they still wanted to save him from the blame. How could he have done such an act earlier in his anger?
After listening to everything the officer came to the conclusion that it was indeed an accident caused by the kids, so the enquiry was over.
The medical help still worked on making sure the kids and RV were alright and the family just remained together comforting each other and just relieved that they all were alright.
From a far Prem stared over them and felt really upset. It reminded him several things like his moments with his family once upon a time. How his father was there just like RV to console him and others in the family when things went amiss or there were times of sorrow. He had missed it a lot after he had left them. RV certainly was a lucky guy and Prem just wished that one day he also would get a family like that. The feeling of the restraint in their friendship hurt him yet he knew that it was his fault that it took place. It was best that he left from there as there wasn't much left to do anymore.
When he arrived by his car he heard someone sobbing away in the corner. He turned around yet he couldn't find anyone immediately. He went a bit further and then saw the person in misery. He recognised it was Heer and his emotional chord was hit. He went up towards her and rested his hand on her shoulder.
When she saw him, she just burst into his arms and cried out loud holding onto him. Whatever had happened had torn her and because she was so emotional she couldn't tolerate the fact that she had been so irresponsible. The way Naina had scolded her had really dismayed her. She believed that she was very terrible and couldn't handle anything.
At that time Prem didn't hold back and his hand rested behind her head to pacify her most he could. It was as if all her pain got transfered inside him and he felt equally hurt seeing her cry like that. He had always thought that tears only brought weakness and nothing else yet at that time he felt that it was best she let them flow. It would make her stronger in believeing that it wasn't her fault. There was no need for him to say anything or her to either as they both knew what was going on in each other's minds. Therefore he just held her softly in his arms as she cried her heart out non stop.
The time went by and soon she realised how she clung onto him in her very vulnerable state. She pulled out gradually and wiped away her tears. "I'm sorry yet I got carried away in my emotions once again." She turned away from him as she knew if she met eye to eye with him then her tears would flow once again.
Prem knew she tried to hide from him so he didn't push that matter further. "I'll drop you home."
"No it's ok, I'll go by myself." She desperately tried to avoid him for several reasons.
Of course it wasn't that easy to change Prem's decisions so she had to agree to go with him. The journey in the car was very silent. Both of them were divulged in their own set of thoughts about all the events that took place that day and the way both of them had handled it. Prem was busy thinking about his conversation with Heer. He couldn't believe he actually had opened up to her fully and she had listened to him so calmly as if she understood him very well. Then again perhaps she did. The very reason for why she had stuck with him for so long and no matter how much he had tried, she hadn't left him in peace.
Heer on the otherside thought over everything Naina said and how she was really distressed about her irresponsibility. Perhaps it was true and she had failed. Then they got diverted to Prem and how he had held her close when she cried out. It was the first time she had actually felt that solace whilst being that close to him as if he truly felt hurt along with her. There had been many times when she plunged herself onto Prem yet he had always worked on running away from her. The hug that day really made her happy deep down that he was softening towards her. Perhaps she would finally get what she wanted.
She told him to drop her back at Ashlesha's house because Kulraj must have been waiting for her. Of course she haddn't mention it was Manmeet's house or Prem would have just flipped. They had worked so hard in their plan up till then and she couldn't let it go to waste. As they halted by the house, she got out. "Thank you." Then she walked towards the house.
Before she disappeared he stopped her. " Heer!" she turned around towards him as he walked close to her. "I know what happened today was dreadful but I don't want you to take too much tension on your head." He said it with a lot of concern. "It isn't good for your health or for the baby." Heer was lost in his words that she didn't pay much attention on the details. "I know everything now and you don't worry. I'll take care of it. You just take care of yourself and the baby." Then he went back to his car and drove off.
As the car disappeared she still stood there looking at him leave. His words of affection ran into her ears and then it striked her as to what he actually said. The part about taking care of her was understood but what did he mean take care of the baby? What baby? Whose baby? There was surely something going on and she had to make many things clear.
Night at Prem's house
After he had returned he had remained in his room for most of the time. Hardly had talked with anyone or eaten anything. The time was spent with him evaluating his life so far and he concluded that even with everything he still had nothing that RV had. He had his family and close ones yet due to his ignorance they had gone astray. He had people out there who cared for him yet due to his strong headedness they all ran away from him. That day he truly missed his father and just hoped he wouldn't have left him.
Then Heer's words ran in his head about how she understood his pain and wanted him to let go of it. Since the time he had met her he had felt that connection with her. He had always felt like listening to everything she said to him. Why? Simply because he felt she was the only one who truly understood him and could share his sorrow. She remained on his mind 24/7 and whenever he had gotten close to her, he had never felt it wrong. They had never replled and the kiss had always been so perfect. Then that night they had accidently spent together was also a big issue and he knew he did wrong with her. He did wrong with many people and it was about time he put everything straight.
He had made the decision that he was going to sort out all the mishaps that have taken place including Veera's alliance with Nihaal. If that made her happy then he would make sure she remained happy for the rest of her life.
As he continued to mentally jott down all the things, his phone rang. He saw who it was and wondered whether he should pick it up or not. Then again it was his duty to listen to whatever there was left to say. "Hello."
"Hi Prem, its RV here." He appeared calm than earlier. "I called to say I'm sorry about what I said this morning. I was really tensed seeing my daughters in danger and then I took it all out on you."
Prem thought how to reply back. "No, it was my fault. I shouldn't have done that with them." He felt from his heart that he had done a bad deed.
RV also could feel that Prem indeed had felt bad and was sorry. "No, accidents happen and we often end up doing things in our anger that we regret later." He sighed. "Simran told me how they had misbehaved with you and then you locked them up."
That memory was still fresh for Prem. "I shouldn't have done that and I truly apologise once again."
"It's ok." RV assured him. "What happened, happened yet I would like to put that in the past and move on." He gave a weak grin. "I know I said very harsh words to you yet I didn't mean them Prem. You've been a nice friend and I wouldn't want to loose you."
His gesture was really nice to have forgiven him. "You're too kind RV otherwise I truly don't think my mistake is forgiveable."
"I know but I've learnt from Naina how to forgive and forget." He paused. "It's a hard task but then you think that life is too short to hold these grudges against the people who are close to you. So it's best to make amendments and forgive them and move on." He sounded cheerful.
Prem understood everything and was pleased to know that RV forgave him and they were back on good terms with each other. After he put the phone down, he thought over what RV said about forgive and move on. Heer had also explanined that to him. Perhaps it was time that he did forgive the past and move on into the future.
Next day at Manmeet's house
The whole gang had turned up to go over everything that had happened so far and to also celebrate the success of their plan.
Of course Heer and Kulraj stayed over night because after Heer narrated everything about the fire to Kulraj she saw how upset she was so it was best to remain there until she got better. She had to lie to Preet yet Kiran had come handy and had taken the responsibility of them so Preet agreed in the end.
Along with the delightness of them all getting their respective partners back, they all were also consolent towards the fire incident and Ashlesha and Maya comforted Heer to the most they could. Of course they knew that their friend was very responsible and it was human to make mistakes. Atleast no one was injured badly and they all were safe, which was the biggest plus point.
"Dekh Heer, Naina ne ghusse me aake tujhe wo sab kehdiya per tu bhi jaanti hain ke wo dil ki kitni acchi hain." Ashlesha had her arm wrapped around Heer's shoulder. "She would have forgiven you already and there wouldn't be any restraints between you anymore." She rested her head on her shoulder like the best friend she had always been.
Heer had felt better by then and just hoped that never in life she would come back to a situation like that. Then she remembered Prem and how he had helped her also get over the worked up situation. It was very sweet of him indeed.
Prem's house
He had made the decision that he was going to set everything straight. He was going to fix Veera and Nihaal's wedding. For that he was personally going to apologise to him for all the harsh words he had said to him. Then he was going to solve his relation with Heer. For that he needed to go to her and confess personally. He was all set and ready with the strong determination. Everyone knew that once Prem Juneja made a decision he stuck to it no matter what happened, even if the world was going to collapse. He left the house as soon as possible because he didn't want to waste the time anymore.
Back at Manmeet's house
"Ash you do not understand the seriousness of this." Heer complained. "I need to know what Prem meant." She looked worried.
However Ashlesha just found it comical as she had done when the first time she heard Prem reveal that Heer was pregnant. She also wanted answers to what he meant because to her knowledge Heer and Prem hadn't actually slept together. But then again what if they had and she didn't know?
Heer didn't find it that amusing. "Don't laugh about it and think seriously." She moved away from her on the sofa.
Veera and Nihaal looked confused and so did Maya. Then of course Kulraj wasn't going to be left behind in the confusion. What exactly had happened that Heer looked so tensed? They wanted to know too.
Everyone spoke at once and clearly it gave Heer a headache. "Alright just stop it guys." She warned them. "Already there are too many problems which have created a head sore so please don't instigate further." She held onto her head with frustration. "Everything was going as it was planned then where did the new twist come from?"
Yet before Ashlesha could have put her word in, Maya butt in. "Will you guys tell us what is exactly going on?"
"I will if you let me." Ashlesha made a face. "Well we all know how we've planned many things so far to get till here and we've succeeded in that mostly." She became chirpy. "Our latest plan totally rocked which gave our dearest Veera here her Nihaal and she got out of the clutches of that horrible queer Rishab." She clapped like a little girl and everyone else also joined in. "Then of course I got my sweet and cute Manmeet back all to myself thanks to his super duper gay acting." She kissed him on the cheek and everyone just adored them.
The four friends were really happy that all of them had settled down very well in lives and as per the pact they had made after college had finished, nearly all of them had found their life partners and had settled down or were going to settle down. They discussed how Meher got married and then Maya also did. Then Nihaal was soon going to be married as they were sure that Prem wasn't going to disagree with their alliance anymore. Then of course Ashlesha was all set from a long time. That only left Heer.
That brought Ashlesha to the point. "Now don't you worry about Heer, Maya." She smirked.
Maya eyed her knowingly as she still was confused. Out of the plan she had no idea about Heer and Prem's pairing or anything related to them. She was only under the impression that she was helping Nihaal and Ashlesha but never thought it was helping Heer too. "I can't believe you guys never old me about this." She looked cross. "I mean she is actually in love with Prem Juneja?"
"Yes." Ashlesha smacked her hands together. "Osi ke liye to itna saara drama kiya hamne ke ek teer se do nishaan ho." She looked satisfied. "And finally we've got till the stage that everything worked according to our plan and he is totally bowled over her."
They discussed further about how Prem thought that Heer was pregnant which, was a shocking thing for them all. Especially Kulraj who burst upon her immediately and it was hard to calm her down. Heer swore on her parents that she wasn't pregnant and there was obviously some misunderstanding.
Maya stood up and paced in front of them. "How did this misunderstanding take place? I mean why would he think that she is pregnant when nothing happened between them?" she was confused.
Both Heer and Ashlesha became uncomfortable and their faces reflected pure tension. Of course that little secret was their only plan and hadn't involved the rest of the group. Yet now they had to tell them. "Well..." Ashlesha began and Maya gave her that astonished look as if she understood that something had happened between Heer and Prem. "Come on, don't look at me like that as if I've commited a crime." Maya shook her head. "Nothing really happened. Me and Heer had taken advantage of the situation that's it."
The discussion continued with Ashlesha telling them how after the Holi party, Prem and Heer both were drunk and had accidently slept in the same room. Yet Ashlesha had come at the right time and had taken Heer away. But then an interesting plot came within her to test Prem's loyalties and feelings. So they made the plan of how Heer would tell Prem that they slept together and would be really distraught. At that time his reaction was something they hadn't expected and thought of carrying it on further as it surely brought him closer to her.
"Then why the hell does he believe she is pregnant?" Maya still found that complicated.
"That's the biggest issue we are trying to figure out." Ashlesha went into deep thought and the rest of them also did the same thing.
However their reverie was broken when they heard a glass vase crash towards the ground. All of them turned towards it and just remained shell shocked.
By the side table stood Prem and he looked very enraged.
