It's the night of Heer's mehndi and ladies sangeet – a strict no guys allowed policy is in place. Massi and Biji have arranged for a small get together in the garden for the guys of the house and their friends. Upstairs, all the girls are helping Heer get ready. Meanwhile, Prem is getting ready along with Nihaal and Preet. Downstairs, Massi and Biji are welcoming all of the guests that have started to arrive.
Girls Room
(Maya, Meher and Ashlesha are already done getting ready)
Meher – Heer jaldi kaar! Kaabse bathroom mein hai tu! (plops down on the bed)
Maya – I know. Kya kaar rahi hai? (pacing around the room)
Ash – Didi, intezaar karte karte mujhe need aagayi hai. Abhi toh party bhi shuru nahin hui.
Meher – Heer…jaldi…. (stops talking)
(Heer comes out dressed in an olive green ghagra-choli embroidered in gold and navy blue. Her hands are adorned with lots of bangles that tinkle when she moves her arms.)
Ash – Didi…kya baath hai. Wah! Aaj toh aap bohot khubsurat lag rahe hai.
Meher – Haan, aaj toh Jiju dekhte reh jayenge. (winks at Heer)
Maya – Aare budhu, Prem Bhaia vahaan paar nahin honge. Ladies sangeet…no gents allowed!
Ash – Oh ho, that's too bad. Jiju hote toh paaka pagal hojate. (winks are Heer too)
(the girls help Heer get all her jewelry on – gold jhumkas, gold layered necklace and gold/green bindi. The last touch is an orchid pinned on her hair behind her ear)
Meher – Zaara dekhe toh sahi…humari Heer kaisi lag rahi hai. (helps Heer stand up)
Maya – Haye! Kissi ki nazaar na lage. (puts kajal ka tika behind her ear)
Ash – Didi, aap yahin wait kijiyeh. Hum neeche ka kaam dekhke aate hai.
(the girls leave to make sure everything is ready downstairs before they take Heer. Heer is standing by the open window, by herself)
"Heer" – someone whispers.
(Heer looks around but sees no one. She thinks its just her nerves getting the better of her)
Guys Room
(At the same time – the guys are getting ready)
(Prem is dressed in a black kurta with silver and while embroidery. Nihaal in a blue kurta and Preet in a purple kurta)
Nihaal – Prem ek baath bata. Aaj Maa aur Massi ne humara intezaam garden mein kyun kiya hai?
Prem – Samja kaar yaar. Aaj Heer ki mehndi ke saath saath, ladies sangeet bhi hai. Issi liyeh, no guys allowed.
Preet – What!? Yeh kya baath hui? Itni sari ladkiyaan ghaar ke andar aur hum bahar garden mein. No way! (he sits on the bed with a hand on his chin)
Nihaal – (seeing Preet) Preet beta, kya plan hai tumhare dimag mein?
Preet – Aapae kisne kahaa ke I have a plan?
Prem – (stops brushing his hair) Preet, its you. You always have a plan.
Preet – You know me so well. (give them an evil look) Aaj toh hum uss function mein jayenge! (gets up and goes to where Nihaal is seated) Hum bhi toh dekhe, yeh ladies sangeet hota kya hai. (laughs)
(Prem comes over to where those two are gathered. Preet explains his plan to them. When he is done, Prem and Nihaal look at each other then burst into laughter.)
Prem – (walking away) Preet, marvana hai kya?
Nihaal – Aur nahin tho kya? (joins Prem in front of his dresser) Jaab pakde jayenge tab bohot jute padenge. Woh bhi, ladkiyoon ki heel wale jute!
Prem – I know. Meri shaadi hai aur mujhe nahin pitna.
Preet – (joins the guys and puts his hands around their shoulders) Come on PB, yeh hi toh time hai masti karne ke liyeh. Hum pakde nahin jayenge…I promise. (seeing that they aren't buying it, he puts his hands together) Please…
Prem – I don't know…
Preet – Kya PB…aapka chota bhai aapse kuch mang raha hai. Aap mere liyeh itna nahin kaar sakte? (makes a sad face)
Nihaal – Prem…don't buy is stupid sad face.
(Preet looks sadder)
Prem – Aacha baba… (Nihaal groans in defeat) …we will go.
(Preet jumps for joy as Prem and Nihaal look at each other – they know this isn't going to end well)
Downstairs: Main Hall
All the guests are here and gathered around the main stage where Heer's mehndi will be done. Massi and Biji are buys attending to the guests. Everyone is so busy that no one notices three 'women', dressed in black burqas enter the party and take seats at the very back of the room. From their vantage point, no one can really see them but they can see everything. Of course, these three women are none other than Prem, Nihaal and Preet. Just as the get settled in and make sure that their faces cannot be seen, they hear a very distinctive sound – cham, cham, cham, cham. Looking up, they see the girls bringing Heer down. Prem is completely lost in how beautiful Heer looks. He had always thought she looked pretty but now he knew that he had been wrong because she is beautiful.
Nihaal – (staring at Maya) Wow! (not realizing he said it out loud)
Preet – (following Nihaal's eyes) Nihaal Bhaia, kisko dekh kar aapne 'wow' kaha? Humare Heer Bhabi ko toh nahin? Varna PB…
(Prem looks at Nihaal)
Nihaal – Nahin…woh…umm… (caught of guard) Maine toh kuch nahin kaha. Tere kaan baj rahe hai Preet. (pokes him on the side)
Preet – Oh ya, I'm hearing things. (sarcastically) Nihaal Bhaia, mujhe saab pata hai. Mujhse kya chupana?
Nihaal – (testing Preet) K…Kya paata hai?
Preet – Yeh hi ke… (suddenly stops talking)
The music begins to play in the background as Ashlesha and Meher come out to do a dance for Heer. The song is 'Meri Banno Ki' from the movie Aaina. After their performance ends, they begin to do Heer's mehndi. The other guests are having their hands done as well while some tells stories and jokes of their own weddings and marriages. A little while later, the song 'Mehndi Hai Rachne Wali' from the movie Zubeida comes on, and its Maya's turn to perform. Soon everyone, including Heer, is dancing and having a good time. Preet notices that Prem and Nihaal are both mesmerized by their respective girls, which he takes note of.
Massi – Heer beta, zara idar aana.
(Heer walks over)
Heer – Ji Massi?
Massi – (puts Heer's hands so that her palms are facing up) Kaal tumhare hathoon ko dekh kar pata chalega ke Prem tumse kitna pyaar karta hai. Kehte hai ke jiski mehndi ka rang zyada chadta hai, usse uska paati saabse zyada pyaar karta hai.
(Heer plasters on a fake smile)
Heer – (thinking to herself) Lekin, Prem-ji toh mujhse pyaar nahin karte. Yeh shaadi toh baas unka ek aur ehsaan hai mujh par. Vaise, main bhi toh unse pyaar nahin karti.
Biji – (puts an hand on Heer's shoulder) Kya sooch rahe ho beta?
Heer – Nahin, kuch bhi toh nahin Biji. (smiles)
(Ashlesha joins the group)
Ash – Didi aap yahaan baite hai. Chaliyeh naa dance kane. (looks at Massi and Biji) Main Didi ko leh jaoun?
Massi – Haan haan, bilkul. Jaao.
(Heer and Ashlesha leave)
The girls are all dancing, but shortly after joining them Heer goes and sits down. Her dupatta gets stuck on something so when she goes to remove it, her eyes fall on something interesting – three burkha clad women in the back. Heer signals for Meher.
(Meher comes to Heer)
Meher – Kya hua?
Heer – (whispers) Do you see what I see?
Meher – Kya? (looks around)
(Maya and Ashlesha come and join them)
Heer – Woh, vahaan (points at the burkha ladies) Woh teen aurtein.
Maya – Woh, joh burkhe mein baite hai?
Heer – Haan, woh hi. It's so odd.
Ash – I know Didi. Woh log abhi bhi burkhe mein kyun hai. Yahaan pe to saab aurtein hi hai. Humare beech mein burkhe ki kya zarurat?
Heer – Yeh hi toh main keh rahi hoon.
(they are all silent and trying to figure out whats going on)
Maya – I got it!
Meher – Kya?
(without answering Maya walks over to the window over looking the garden and returns shortly)
Maya – Woh teen humare family ke teen mard hai. (the girls look confused) Aare don't you get it. Dekho, teen aurtein burkhe mein. Aure humare woh teen mard ka toh shaam se kuch paata nahin, aur woh garden mein bhi nahin hai.
Ash – Aapka matlab hai ke…no way! Come on Di…
Meher – Woh log aaise nahin karenge.
Maya – Says who? Tum saab Preet Bhaia ko nahin jaante! Tehro, aage aage dekho main kya karti hoon.
Maya goes over to Massi and Biji and explains the situation and her suspicions to the old women. Together, the three of them come up with a plan.
Meanwhile, the men are all to aware that the girls keep looking their way. They begin to get nervous.
Prem – Preet, maine kaha tha naa ke hum pakde jayenge. Chalo, iss se pehle ke baath aur bigad jayeh, hume chalna chahiyeh. (about to get up)
Preet – (stops Prem) Relax PB.
Nihaal – Nahin Preet, I'm with Prem…we should go. (he is trying to get up) Dekh, Massi aur Maa humare taraf aah rahe hai.
(the three men stand up, not realizing that their burkha's don't cover all the way to the floor)
Massi – Aare, aap log yahaan peeche kyun baite hai? Samne aayiyeh naa.
(the guys begin to talk in more feminine voices)
Nihaal – Ji thank you, magar hum yahin paar tik hai.
Biji – Nahin… (grabs onto Preet) Chaliyeh, aage chaliyeh. (pulls him)
(they take the guys to where Heer and the other girls are gathered. They all say hello, when Meher notices their legs)
Meher – Haila, don't mind huh…lekin, kya aap log aapne legs wax nahin karate?
Preet – (pulling the burkha down a bit) Actually woh kya hai naa ke hume time hi nahin mila.
Maya – Koi baath nahin. (grabs onto Prem) Mere paas ek bohot hi aachi waxing kit hai. Function mein abhi bhi bohot time baki hai. Uppar chaliyeh, main aapka waxing kar deti Prem – Preet – Nihaal – NAHIN!
(Maya stops pulling)
Nihaal – Mera matlab hai ke…abhi nahin. Kitna aacha function hai. Isse chodke jaane ka maan hi nahin ho raha hai.
Ash – (winks at the girls) Aacha, koi baat nahin. Kam se kam humare saath dance toh kijiyeh. (grabs and pulls Nihaal)
Ashlesha is with Nihaal, Maya is with Preet while Meher is with Prem. The guys look like absolute fools dancing like girls in their burkhas – they are doing thumkas and everything. The girls are trying very hard not to blow their cover by laughing.
Maya – Aare aap log abhi bhi burkhe mein kyun hai. Ghabraiyeh maat, yahaan pe sirf aurtein hai. Ladke log saab bahar hai, andar nahin aayehge.
Ash – Haan, aap burkha utar sakte hai. (pulls on Preet's)
Preet – Nahin…nahin…hum tik hai.
Meher – Kya tik hai? Bohot garmi lag rahi hogi aapko.
Each girl grabs the burkha of their dancing parther and with one strong tug manages to pull them off sending the guys spinning in shock. The men stand there shocked like statues while the girls nearly fall to the floor with laughter. In the midst of all the laughter, Massi becomes serious and goes to Prem.
Massi – Prem! Yeh saab kya hai.
Prem – Massi…woh…umm…
Preet – (yells) Massi, yeh saab Nihaal Bhaia ka plan tha.
Nihaal – (shocked) What!? No! Massi yeh saab Preet ka plan tha. Hum dono… (stands next to Prem) aaisa plan bana sakte hai bhala?
(Massi thinks and then turns to Preet, who knows there is no way out)
Preet – (whispers) Main toh gaya. (holds his ears) Massi zyada marna maat, abhi tak meri shaadi bhi nahin hui hai.
(Massi raises her hand like she is going to slap him, Preet closes his eyes, but instead Massi just squeezes his cheek hard)
Massi – Badmash kahin ka!
After that, the guys and girls enjoy the party together late into the night. When its all over, as a form of punishment, the guys are told to clean up everything. While the girls all head upstairs to get out of their clothing, Prem sees Heer head outside towards the garden. Just then Nihaal comes up behind Prem.
Nihaal – Prem, tune Heer ko woh gift diya ke nahin?
Prem – Nahin, abhi toh nahin.
(Preet joins them)
Preet – PB, kaab denge aap? Shaadi kaal hai. Aap abhi deh dijiyeh.
Prem – Tik hai.
(rushes upstairs to get the box and then follows Heer outside)
In the garden, Heer is thinking about her wedding tomorrow and has butterflies in her stomach. She knows that its not a love marriage but she still wants to be a good wife to Prem. After everything he has done for her and Ashlesha, she owes him that much. She looks up at the sky and prays that God is there to help her. Suddenly, Heer gets startled.
"Heer" – a voice calls.
This is the second time she has heard this – it cant be just her imagination. Just then she feels a hand on her shoulder and nearly screams when she turns. The only thought on her mind is that everyone is inside, so who is out here? Turning she comes face to face with the answer to her question.
Heer – Aap!? Aap yahaan kya kar rahe hai?
Precap: Heer and this person have a very interesting conversation that someone else happens to over hear…plus…kissi aur ki dil mein baji guitar!!
