well that statement was spoken by daljeet (the villan) of the story.
she said this statement because she has the evil plan of getting ash married to preet (instead of meher) so she wants to put whole blame on poor meher. so preet is not held guilty by the family members & only meher ruins her impression in everybod's eyes. & family is convinced that meher is not good girl for preet.
hope these reason makes sense....... & is satisfing.....................

I thought preet and meher are married😲, par yeh tum ne saari kahanni hi palat di. 😆 liked the way makes every small thins special for out meher.
