there is a third alternative: heer is the bravest smartest person -- certainly smarter than the jzoo, or me. heer already knows that gaali-maa despises her. heer already knows that gaali-maa will do anything to keep prem away from heer and close to her. so heer is acting perfectly to make sure that (a) gaali-maa doesn't get prepared to attack her again like she did before and (b) more importantly, gaali-maa doesn't see her phukda** as a threat to get prem away from her.

and 'cause of the true daugther-father relationship they share, i loved how he asked her if she was happy right back. and faced down her lie with his truth.
