The next morning, the sun's rays forced Prem to wake up. He found the blanket and pillows on the couch were gone and Heer was nowhere to be seen. Prem quickly took a shower and headed downstairs where Lalit, Gayatri, Harman, Kulraj and Preet were having breakfast.
"Good morning, PB," Preet said.
Prem was glad to see his younger brother back to his old self, and talking to him again.
"A very good morning to you to," Prem replied. He sat next to his brother while searching the whole area. "Where are Heer and Meher?"
"Oh, they left for office early in the morning," Gayatri said.
"I thought Prem was a workaholic, but these two have set a new record," Kulraj commented, "they woke up early, did pooja, and prepared most of the breakfast before leaving for work." After a pleasant breakfast, the two brothers headed for their work.
Around noon, Preet was about to vomit on the files he had been staring at for the past three hours. His work was getting nowhere, and he was missing his wife. It seemed as if Meher had felt his pain because she chose to call at that exact moment.
"Where have you been?" Preet whined, "Have you adopted a hobby of disappearing and torturing me? I haven't seen you all day."
"I'm sorry, I had an urgent meeting," Meher cutely apologized. "Anyways, I called to let you know that Heer didi and I have a meeting today, and I managed to have it arranged at your hotel. We should be there in one hour. You just make sure that Prem bhaiya is also there."
"My dear wife, you are a genius," Preet responded while jumping out of his chair. "That's why I love you so much."
"Stop the drama Preet, I'll see you soon."
After, Heer and Meher arrived, Preet rushed to his brother's cabin. Under the pretense of making sure everything is functioning properly, Preet directed his brother to the dining area where their wives were seated. Heer and Meher had finished their meeting and were about to leave when Preet stopped them.
"What are you guys doing here?" he asked, acting all innocent.
"We had a meeting, Preet" Meher responded, playing along with his game.
"Well since you guys are here, why don't we have lunch" Preet suggested.
Unable to turn their siblings down, Prem and Heer agreed. Preet managed to get Heer talking by discussing work. Meher and Heer revealed that they, along with Nihaal, had joined a company in Dubai which wasn't doing well. With Heer's innovative ideas, Nihaal's management skills, and Meher's legal expertise they were able to get the company running again. The owner offered them a partnership. After a year, the trio started their own music company. Nihaal continued to work with the company and it was then decided that he would take care of the branch in India. Heer devoted all her time to the music company, and Meher helps both her siblings with the legal matters.
Throughout the lunch the foursome discussed their work. Prem and Heer had become too involved with discussion that they managed to forget everything else that was going on. During the conversation, Heer inquired about Maya. Prem informed her that Harman asked Maya to leave the house, and they hardly speak to each other.
Harman was working on his laptop at home during the evening when he heard a knock on his door. Heer was standing by the doorway, and Harman gladly welcomed her.
"I am not disturbing you, am I?" Heer asked.
"Oh come on, even if I was busy, you can disturb me any time bhabhi" Harman replied.
"Harman, if you don't mind, can I ask you something?" Heer asked hesitantly.
"Of course, you don't need my permission"
"Harman, why don't you bring Maya back home?"
Harman was a little shocked to hear that suggestion—especially from Heer. "After what she did to you, you still want her to come back?"
"Maya was in no way responsible for what happened…Harman, the fate of a marriage solely depends on the husband and wife. If the trust and love between the two is strong enough, then it should not matter what others do. Clearly, mine and Prem's relationship wasn't as strong as we thought. We are the only ones responsible for what happens between us, and no one else. Besides, instead of accusing your wife of what she did, you should try and figure out why she did it. Maybe it was something we did that led her to act in such a way. As her husband, I think it is your responsibility to find out…Harman, marriage isn't a game, it's commitment that you should never stop fighting for no matter what," Heer explained.
Harman stared at his sister-in-law with even more admiration. Just when he thought he knew her, she throws another surprise. He couldn't believe the amount wisdom and insight she possessed. Now he understood why his brother loves her so much.
"Forgive me if I crossed the line," Heer said and left Harman to his thoughts. What she didn't realize is that her husband had overheard everything.
Prem entered the room a few seconds after Heer. She was about to open a file when Prem came forth and sat next to her. She gave him a confused look while he tried to find out why he ever doubted her.
"Thank you," he eventually said, "thank you for showing Harman the right path. Thank you for caring so much about my family."
He was half expecting another bitter remark, but instead Heer accepted his gratitude with a nod and resumed with her work.
