Milloni Kapadia, who is a part of the much-celebrated Deepa Shahi and Rajan shahi's show Anupamaa, is grateful to be part of a story that continues to touch millions of hearts. As the show completes five successful years, Milloni reflects on her journey and the emotional depth that makes Anupamaa truly special.

“Yes, Anupamaa has been an incredibly successful show, and I feel so proud to be a part of it!” Milloni shares enthusiastically. “It’s been close to a year already since I joined, but in this short time, I’ve witnessed a level of dedication and passion that’s truly unmatched. Every single person on this team brings their A-game, day in and day out — and that’s exactly why the show continues to touch hearts the way it does.”

Known for portraying layered emotions and tackling real-life situations, Anupamaa has taken viewers on a journey through the protagonist's most vulnerable and powerful moments. For Milloni, one of the most impactful aspects of the show has been its message about the importance of family.

“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster — filled with highs, lows, and everything in between,” she says. “But if there’s one thing that remains constant, both on-screen and in real life, it’s the strength and power of family. That bond, that love — it grounds you, lifts you, and gives you the courage to face anything. For me, my family is my backbone, my biggest blessing.”

Apart from highlighting pressing societal issues, the show also focuses deeply on interpersonal dynamics — something Milloni feels is extremely important in today's storytelling.

“Absolutely yes!” she agrees. “When a show is watched by such large audiences, it becomes really important what you serve to them and how, because deep down we all know that a huge part of society takes motivation and gets inspired by what they watch. In a society like ours, it is really important to showcase interpersonal relationships with utmost sensitivity and a deep understanding of our surroundings. That’s the true beauty of our show — it dives deep into every kind of relationship, be it societal or deeply personal.”

Appreciating the brilliance behind the show’s narrative, Milloni adds, “Our writers are absolute creative geniuses; the way they craft such meaningful, layered storylines and intricate relationships between characters is nothing short of brilliant.”

As an actor, adapting to new twists and transformations in the character arc can be creatively demanding — a challenge Milloni enjoys embracing.

“Understanding the shift in a character — and the why behind that change is so important. To portray any role authentically, you need to know the emotional journey that led them there,” she explains. “Every shift brings a new creative challenge, and that’s what makes the process so stimulating and rewarding. I’ve truly learned the value of going beyond the written script from my husband, Gaurav — to think deeper, to explore the unsaid. I’m still learning, still evolving every single day, and I’m grateful for the growth this journey brings.”

On how she approaches a new emotional transition in the script, Milloni shares, “For me, it’s essential to understand the complete journey of my character — her relationships with everyone around her and her current emotional state. Once I truly grasp the situation she’s in, everything starts to fall into place. So when I receive the script, I live the moment, as if it’s actually happening to me. I believe in keeping it simple and staying completely honest to the emotion of the scene. That truth is what makes a performance truly connect.”
