Whee! Okay, so I know it's still Wednesday in some places, but it's Thursday morning here so I'm posting and ain't nothing you can do about it! 😛 I am so sorry to Shabz and Shifs for putting in so much cheesiness that you guys nearly gagged, and I'm ashamed to say that this part won't be much different from the teaser! 😆 But you know what? It was a truckload of fun writing it and laughing all over the floor while I wrote it. Seriously, I had a huge grin on my face while writing this part, so I hope that whatever happens, you guys like it! Enjoy!

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Prologue
"Jaan," Heer began, absently feeding her husband a grape.
"Yes, jaan?" Prem replied, looking up at her with a serene smile on his face.
"I've been looking around."
Prem sat up sharply, turning to look at the love of his life. Whenever Heer started a sentence with 'I've been looking around', it usually meant work for him.
"And people aren't falling in love anymore. Not like us, anyway." She smiled at him, ruffling his hair.
He made a face and moved away from her. "Jaan, you know I hate it when you do that."
Heer laughed, a tinkling sound that echoed in the heavens. "I know, jaan, but what can I do, your hair is so ruffle-able!" She reached out again, but Prem squirmed and scurried to the other end of the reclining couch. Heer pouted.
"What were you saying, jaan?" Prem asked in an attempt to pacify her.
Heer crossed her arms, turning away from him. "I'm not telling you. You've upset me."
Prem sighed. He got up and moved to stand behind her, wrapping his arms around her. He kissed her cheek and felt her smile. "Bataao, na, jaan. Please?" he whispered.
"People Down There aren't falling in love anymore. They don't find their perfect matches anymore, and sometimes after they marry they have this thing called a divorce, where they…end their marriage."
Prem frowned.
"I don't like it, jaan." Heer turned to look up at him, a sad look on her face.
"What do you think we should do?" Prem asked her, his hands on either side of her face.
She lit up, smiling. "Call a meeting of the Cupids!"
Prem sighed inwardly. He didn't quite like where this was going.

The Cupids sat on cloud chairs, bright-eyed and eager, their eyes following the Goddess of Love as she paced in front of them. Heer was wearing a military helmet, which looked rather odd paired with the white Grecian dress she wore. Prem sat in his chair, looking rather bored, like he always did whenever Heer called a meeting.
A large map stood behind Heer, with blinking pink lights.
Heer stopped pacing and turned to the Cupids. "You see these pink lights?" she asked, pointing with her pointer to the map.
The Cupids nodded.
"These pink lights indicate where Love is lost. These pink lights indicate where you will be sent for your missions. Remember, you must make the right people fall in love. And you must not fall in love yourselves. Understood?"
The Cupids nodded.
Heer smiled. "Right, then. When I call your names, you will step forward and receive your missions."
The Cupids stood up, their eyes brighter than ever in their eagerness. A soft whisper passed through Heaven as the Cupids formed two lines, waiting to receive their missions.
Prem stood up, trying not to sigh. When Heer set her mind to something, she was utterly unstoppable. And she always managed to rope Prem in as well. He picked up a pile of envelopes from a wooden table and took his place beside Heer, smiling at the Cupids. (They really were adorable. And they were far from the diapered and winged infants painters portrayed them as. Love was a delicate matter, and if left in the hands of children…Well, they had tried that a long time ago, and it had not worked out. At all.)
Next to him, Heer was enthusiastically briefing each Cupid about where they were being sent to. She called out their names one by one.
Aradhna.
Meera.
Ravjot.
Shabo.
Nonee.
Priyo.
Zahra.
Meher.
"Now, Meher, yours is by far the most bizarre case we have," Heer informed Meher. "Somebody –" she shot Prem a death glare " – was bored when he wrote out this person's love life."
Overhearing her, Prem glanced at her, turning red.
Heer continued. "His name is Preet Juneja. Any girl he goes out with finds her perfect man the next day, so Preet…isn't so lucky. What you have to do is make sure he gets together with Ashlesha Maan, because she's his match. Understood?"
Meher nodded.
Heer smiled and handed her the envelope. "Good. Now, you will be his secretary."
Meher frowned. "What's a…secretary?" she asked slowly.
Heer touched Meher's head. Meher's eyes glazed over briefly, then she smiled, enlightened. Meher nodded, taking the envelope.
She left, joining the queue of Cupids making their way Down There.

Ta-dah! (I love using that word, really I do! 😆) How was that for a prologue? Betcha can't wait for Part One, can ya? Yep, Meher's a Cupid and she's sent to mess with...I mean, sort out...Preet's love life! Anyway, hope you guys liked it, and look out for Part One next Thursday!
Love,
Bhav (:
