Bad Luck
Racing down the crowded sidewalk of downtown Vancouver, clutching tightly on her umbrella that was now inside out all, the only thing running through her mind was Damn it Heer out all the days your car had to break down, why today!!!.
Her makeup now smudged all over her face she knew today had to be her worst day ever. Her expensive red heel's now covered with dirt and her long hair wavy making her look like a total complete slob. Why today out of all the days something like this could of happened why today!!!. Today was Heer's first day of internship at Belle Magazine, this was Heer's first big break, she had always aspired to be a part of the world of fashion and glamour, it was the only thing she had ever wanted to do in her life, Although her family did not approve of her choice in this career path Heer knew what she wanted and she was determined to get it!
Panting frantically she dug through her bag to find her phone, flipping it open, her heart dropped Hey bhagwan! 10:07!!! She was supposed to arrive at 10pm sharp, now what was she going to do?!
Heer pushed on the glass door to let herself in, as she peered in sheepishly her eyes found the reception desk, before she had a chance to make her way there she caught a glimpse of a dark shadow from the corner of her eye, Heer swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat and decided it was time to face the music. "Well aren't you an early bird," the woman in her calf length ivory trench coat chimed in an ironic tone. Her face smooth without a hint of concern, eye's narrow and eyebrow arched superiorly. "Ms. Mann, I had recruited you into our firm with many expectations, it's your first day and you're already showing us how much you want this position?" The foyer full of people fell silent, witnessing the tension.
Heer's posture stiffened, all she wanted to do was cry, it was hard enough to work amongst people so intimidating, having Kulraj Juneja as her boss was even more difficult.
"I don't have time for this, or you, feel free to attend to whatever it is that is more important to you than this internship.."
Heer's mouth opened sucking in the air filled with tension to respond, "I..."
"Please save it!" and with that she was out the door.
Heer stood frozen with water dripping from her long black curls, she was ready to burst out in tears when she snapped back to reality to see where she was, she pivoted around and was also out the door again running as fast as she could.
The street was filled with varieties of people, from some dressed in expensive Armani to some that where dressed in normal raincoats. Heer passed a Starbuck's packed with coffee addicts waiting anxiously for their morning coffee, with a flash she ran in through the doors straight to the washrooms and into the first stall she saw. She needed to pull herself together! What am I supposed to tell Mom and Papa when they asked how my first day went? Of course Papa will be satisfied once again and will rub in the "Maine bataaya than na, lekin tum mera baat kaha sunte ho, maine socha tha ki meri beti Heer apni Parhai mein aage bare gi..." But I can't let him do that because he's wrong, I can succeed in the fashion industry, I don't have to be a doctor or lawyer to succeed, you can't prove him right LIE TO HIM IF YOU HAVE TO!" With that she stepped out the stall.
A little more relaxed than before, So what if today went bad, I'll talk to Ayesha and she'll talk to Kulraj Juneja, just chill Heer everything will work out.

Extra Whipped Cream Please..
Heer was always a positive person, even when the worst of things would happen she would brush it off with the feeling that things will work out, she always had hope. Instead of hope, many other people would call it denial.
Once she was done sobbing she took a glance of herself in the mirror Dear god, I look gross She began to wipe off her makeup, from her smudged eyeliner and bronze eye shadow to her dried pink lips. That's better! Now there's the Heer I know... now to think of a story... hmm. She walked out of the washroom to join the line, still deep in thought until her train of thought was interrupted. She felt something collide into her, pushing her to the ground with a big thud that knocked the wind out of her. Once she recovered from the fall she turned her head to see what it was sitting beside on the very dirty floor of Starbucks was one piece of excellent eye candy. His forehead was wrinkled in pain, eyes closed and his hand rubbing his lower back, seeing him squint his face like that reminded Heer of an innocent child except with perfectly groomed facial hair. His hair ruffled and a little messy in a cute way, He was wearing a zip up striped black and grey sweater that hugged his body perfectly highlighting his buff arms and rugged chest, and a normal pair of jeans with fresh white sneakers. Heer just sat there unmoving not realizing what was going on when...
"Um...Are you okay? I'm so sorry..." a sweet velvet voice asked.
"Huh." Startled she snapped out of her gawk fest and realized her mouth was hanging wide open, embarrassed and disgusted with herself she began to get to her feet slipping on the wet floor.
The boy let out a smirk under his breath. Heer shot a glance at him this time her eyes narrow with irritation.
"Let me help you..." He let out with a playful smirk on his face.
At this point Heer felt extremely embarrassed as the spectators were also looking at her and giggling. She ignored him and rose to her feet, luckily her skirt was black so there was no sign of dirt on them, except her white silk ruffled blouse that had a huge water spot by the hip. She sighed and retreated to her spot in the line still ignoring the guy that just couldn't watch where he was going! He shrugged to himself and followed behind her, "I'm really sorry I didn't mean to, the floor was wet and I slipped and..."
Heer turned to give him a cold look and turned back around, "Tall Carmel Frapaccino please, with extra whip cream."
"Whoa extra whip cream eh, most girls try to avoid the extra fat," He mumbled absentmindidly while going through his phone.
Heer's eyes widened in shock and disbelief, He did not just say that! "Excuse me; please tell me you did not just say that!"
The man jerked his head up realizing what he just said, "Uh, wait no... I didn't mean anything like.." He scrunched his eyes closed, his expression clearly said that he was mentally kicking himself.
"Who cares what you meant, don't you get the picture, I'm ignoring you which obviously means I don't want to talk to you, or look at you or anything, so please just let me get my drink and go, you're unbelievable,"
"I was just trying to make conversation, you weren't saying anything, and the last thing I wanted was for you to be mad at me," He replied in a placating tone that was smug at the same time, it was too calm... this calmness irritated Heer because it made her look like she was yelling for nothing.
"Mad at you?! I don't even know you, so who cares," Heer shook her head with her one eyebrow lifted in disbelief as to how weird this person was. Realizing how loud she was she ducked her head down, her cheeks beaming pink.
"Your tall Carmel Frappicino is up," the woman behind the counter chanted.
With that Heer grabbed her drink and left, And I thought today wasn't going to get any worse...
Normally Heer wasn't so rude, on a normal day she would've laughed it off and forgave the guy, but today she was not in the mood and on top of that, his last comment about the extra whipped cream was not very chivalrous.
