oooh, yeah! now that you remind me, i'm getting steamed again. that entire shot was soooo perfect. and they had used ag's voice in just the segment before. why, why, why?! did they have to use that fake voice when heer talked about a pooja for "her pati" (!!!) who is "prem juneja"?? me? i could ignore it 'cause i instantly flashed back into "mein prem juneja, aaj,..." sequence... 😆
i agree...that was another reference there to that 'mein prem juneja' night...he took her as his wife that day...more ways than one..haven't we been saying it all along...😉

😆 blue light -- of course, what else? evil people... i agree 'bout the dupatta. i was beginning to grumble when i saw it. but - omg! - when he caught her and the damned thing blew across his face, but you could see the contours of that face through the cloth, all i could do was admire the beauty of the moment. in any case, if i'd said anything against the moment, pcp - who was staring enraptured at the screen would've hit me, rib or no rib. wisdom prevailed... 😆 the jaw, the cheekbones all failed before that look in his eyes. what a look! kinda like when prem-heer would stare at each other before. but so very different. it was ... new! how could these eyes, who had done this very act so many times before, make it look new? i was totally awe-struck! it was just not possible for me to hate prem.. for anything then. in any case - he was there just for heer.. couldn't hate that... 😆

totally agree that your description fit perfectly - for when he caught her the night before! but in the hug? i dunno... maybe the wind was blowing too strongly in his face or something... notice that hc has a problem with not blinking with the darned puffs of air that come up whenever prem-heer stare at each other. maybe he's just out of touch with how to deal with that and getting the perfect prem expression?

y'know? i didn't find this odd. he'd saved the girl. he noticed the commotion. but it was late. by the time he came to the front of the group -- and notice how he did that with some urgency, pushing through the crowd with some disregard for who he is jostling against, whose shawl he was yanking away? -- by that time, the ratpal crowd had gone. prem didn't have a chance to do anything here. no chance to find out more 'bout the girl whose eyes he just had to stare into while he held her close...
and something i loved about the scene was the whole sense of "reticence and distance". the villagers don't know - or care to know! - what the "mahal ka log" are doing. they don't particularly understand why he - a stranger! - wants to know. all these people want to know is - where are you going to? and that's the way in villages. their own unit is fixed. all others are people who come from "somewhere" and go "somewhere". i've travelled a fair amount with mom in rural india - and this is the perfect attitude. you are marked as someone with an origin and a destination. they don't 'bout who you are and what you do. (well, unless you're a doctor, in which case, they bring their ailments to you and ask for medicine! 😆)
