that's 'kay. i know how tough it is giving time to this forum. *sigh* and yeah. i think all of us probably are thinking wtf only even if (like me) it's only a bit...

*y'know? i really think thinking weekend thoughts is a natural thing no? the way that people react when they see wtf, it's like the only natural thing to think is... well, something else! 😆*

* wtf#1: bombay grabs your heart and steals it away - like prem-heer do.
Even though i live in india, ive never been to mumbai...so dont know much other than wat we read about it n watch in tv about it..

is a cool place. one day you should visit. although it comes with a caveat emptor: it can drive you crazy! 😆

* wtf#2: the moron snipers with their toys of destruction are like lalit juneja.
Yeah thaey df are like Lallu😡..even though, wen i see wat they have done, it makes Lallu look like an angel...These people are🤬..

🤢
yeah, i know... 🤢

Wen i watched the camera takes of the terrorists, i was so shocked to see so young, fit "normal-looking" boys...hey looked just looked like the us all, in cargos and sweatshirts and rucksacks-only difference-they carried an AK-47...vil..it really looked like he was grinning evilly...laughing at the destruction he was inflicting..i shudder to think about it..

well, apparently, post-mortems have shown that they were drugged to the hilt. so they probably were completely mindless -- and that grin was meaningless. how else could they just go on killing for more than 2 days continuously?? 🤢😲 but yes, that is what really made me want to scream -- how can these guys not have any other choice in life?? how could they have chosen to do this??! *wanting to throw up at the memory..*

* wtf#4: the mumbai police force are like ... kul-di and probably her husband.

I feel sad for them, and also, proud of them..Its sad that they are not well equipped for this kind of operations..Hemant Karkare died only because the jacket he wore was not good enough..their AK-47s could easily inflict damage on him😭..

😭 and i was thinking that luck is such an unfair thing -- shouldn't luck never favour the bad guys?? why did they get so lucky about this? killing three experienced guys so easily?? 😭

* wtf#6: the people of the world who watched in horror, helplessly, are like gayatri-mom.

Yeah it was sad that u could do nothing...nothing at all...Wat we ARE doing now is sending smses asking where Raj Thackeray is and all...

*sigh* at least you can do at least that. 'cause we saw how well our signing-petitions have worked at keeping the channel and production house interested and aware 'bout this show and prem in the show. i've signed a couple of petitions for action from the government too. but i think this is too big for the mh or the indian government to ignore no? after all, the home minister had to resign?

* wtf#7: the newspeople/channels are like the director+camera-crew+editors at balaji telefilms/show-channels. Even though i watched some of them asking stupid questions to the relatives like how do you feel..seriously! dont they have any sense? is this wat they should ask?😡

😭 i think that it's like you said: they probably were exhausted from reporting continuously -- no one can have a brain that works for that long -- unless they were on drugs like those moron snipers. 😭😡

* wtf#8: where do the politicians fit here? Hey dont compare the politicians with preet..preet is sweet..but the politicians, they 🤬(atleast some of them)..What were they doing? They were playing politics with this issue..😡..And Advani and the PM dint even go to mumbai 2gether..they should have come together atleast in this time of crisis..

'kay, 'kay! *kaan pakading* i changed my wtf from politicians to government. you have to agree: someone has to be in charge to call the troops out, no?

This was the perfect topic for today's wtf, estee..thanx so much for coming up with this(hope i dint become too heated up while commenting)

😭 on this issue, i don't think there can possibly be "too heated up". there was an enemy. and it wasn't us. we're the good guys. and we need to be able to get heated up about such things together. 'cause we know how to do it without bloomin' killing each other. so 🤗to you and me. we all rock. 😃

WOW!
I've always read these posts of yours, but never felt that I had anything to say about it, but today everything you wrote Estee, really struck a chord.
I've been all over in India too, but there's not one place that is like Mumbai. You're right, those people are all family. You never feel out of place or uncomfortable. For me, it's more than my second home, it's like my first home even though I live so far away in India! I guess it's because my mom was born and brought up there, but I've always felt this deep connection to the city, like it's where I'm meant to be.
As for all the people and situations you compared to KDMHMD, perfect! 😊 Every person was matched exactly with the evil or good intention of the opposite!
Thanks again for posting this, to make us realize it in deep context! 😃
Luv ya loads,
Meera😳

I am a silent reader & never posted before to ur messages but today I felt compelled to write. After what all was shown in TV all our hearts went out to those innocent people who had no notion of what was going to befall them on that ominous day!

hey lana. i'm glad you posted. i changed my original post to add stuff you said! thank you.

They left their homes in the morning thinking they will return in the evening to their loved ones & yet the ones who perished never even got to fulfill that wish of theirs! Tourists who went to admire India with its culture, heritage & welcoming nature felt the need to leave it as soon as possible!

i know. it's eerie how much what you wrote is like what they showed as the effect of the "random bomb blast in delhi" on the show. that it could be anyone's friend/brother/sister/mother/father -- and afterwards, they are gone forever. everything changes. and for what? a totally crazy, non-understandable thing.

This is an outrage, an inhuman evil force which should be wiped away for good from this face of earth to let the PEACE prevail all around us.

"inhuman". i've been struggling with this word. somehow it's really bad that these snipers look like humans, no? they showed really have long tails with spikes along their backbone or something. damnit all to heck. why can't they at least look different, these .. creatures that can kill us so easily??

I know its easier said than done but somehow one day I hope this wish of ours will come true, we will see these vicious, wicked, sinful, harmful group to perish for good & the righteous & the virtuous to flourish & prosper for eternity!

of course, it will! *fiercely* 'cause the good guys always win! the only place where the good guys don't eventually win is ... in some shows by balaji telefilms. and even they are beginning to change...!!! 👏👏👏 go prem! go heer! go true love. go goodness. go rightness! 😃

Now as to your comparisons I agree wholeheartedly except for the politicians part where I agree with Smita. Preet I consier is wayyyyy better than these 2 faced politicians who always looks forward to their own gains before doing or saying anything. Preet on the other hand as far as his brother & family is concerned is absolutely unselfish & magnanimous! So I will give Preet a much higher designation.

😆 gosh! even though i expected it, man! am i getting flak for this! i guess each of us personalise politicians and then - yes, a comparison to our preet can be terribly misplaced. but i wanted someone/something that has responsibility of calling out the forces. which technically is the home minister/state chief minister - who technically are politicians.

but!! no pushing any points from me on this anymore! i changed preet to the government. better?

And want to add u left out Heer here who I can only compare to Bombay itself! She suffered in hands of Daljeet like Bombay did in hands of these wicked reprobates.

agreed! done! check it now -- makes sense? 😃

Thanks for this topic once again! We all wish & pray for the Mumbaikars to face life with double the force & passion than ever before.

oh, this will happen for sure, i know. i guess i'm w&w** for it to be sooner rather than later. 😃

** - w&w == waiting & watching, copyright sshekar aka smitha. 😆

I am sure I am not even close to understanding the horror and despair of those hours completely but I hope I'm a little closer than I was before.

i know what you mean about not bearing the idea of watching it on tv -- i usually read newsites/papers to get the news 'cause i think tv has become just too shameless in what they're willing to show to get viewers. 😭 but this was .. my home. i could not not watch. 😭 and i've been on the ground in some bad domestic violence situations. and imagination never tells you reality. seriously. i can never understand violence from one human being to another. life is just soooo precious.

I've never been to India, I'm not sure if I ever will, but from what I've read I feel it's safe to say it's in many ways very similar to Pakistan.

well, one of the benefits of being "daughter and research assistant" to a social scientist who works with the likes of world bank, is that i have been to pakistan (lahore)! accompanying mom for a conference. and dunno about anyother place, but it was exactly like being in delhi!! i'm not kidding! everything was sooo familiar that it was surreal to me... i started crying the day i left and couldn't stop for hours. 😕

Which is why it makes it all the more hard for me to understand the reason behind this ridiculous and heart breaking incident. I despise those people who used religion and politics as an excuse to kill so many innocent people.
But before I ramble on some more, I would just like to say "Good Job" for the post and I hope God gives all the victims and their families the strength and patience to survive this time of crisis and pain.

feel free to ramble -- maybe if we ramble enough, we will drown out the maniacs? personally, i thought the most horrible thing about this attack was that it didn't look like it was religion or (regional) politics. i think it was just to scare people from around the world away from doing business with india, visiting india, setting up normal human relationships with india.

and what is remarkable is that it doesn't look like we have some braindead politicians in india jumping up and down on the religious bandwagon! at least not yet! i'm glad we are looking to ourselves and asking how we can improve ourselves rather than act the local bully on any one else. for the first time, we're beginning to behave like a slightly mature country... and i'm glad, fiercely glad. if there is a fundamental change in the way we deal with security for indians, then these people having died will at least have come to have some good for their fellow countrypeople. 😭
😭😭😭😭

This is an outrage, an inhuman evil force which should be wiped away for good from this face of earth to let the PEACE prevail all around us.

Estee they look like us, normal human beings, so that they can mingle easily to spread the venom they have in their hearts. If they looked like the way u described them then all of us would have noticed them immidiately & had been aware & careful of them. We would have shooed them off from the society & this would have spoiled their entire purpose of so-called mission of mass destruction! So they look like humans but acts in an inhuman manner!
And also wanted to add only a city like Bombay can safely vouch that life starts after 10pm. People can safely walk on the roads, go to movies, go to restaurants late that night without any fear like we have in all other cities. I don't want to say that there is no evil or sin in this city, all major cities will have its social creeps but still people freely can do what they want even in the middle of the night & these social reptiles just managed to take that ounce of freedom away from the people! They were successful in killing that feel of freedom for the first time amongst the people! I just hated to see that, they may not win the war but definitely they seemed to have won a part of this battle. They were successful in creating panic & havoc in the city.
Thanks once again for accepting my views. U r such a great writer, I always admired ur way of penning down thoughts & facts. U really have a great gift with words.
Wonderful topic once again. Really feel like we can contribute thesis on this one. So many points are coming to my mind on this topic that there will be no end if I once start!

for the past 4 days, all I have been doing is watch news channels...My hubs couldnt believe it, coz usually I run away from news channels but this time I couldnt help but keep watching the live updates...
And right now, being annoyed after watching Maharashta CM and his silly weird attitude on NDTV live,I thot of IF , and got to see your wtf...

Mumbai,I've been to this place a couple of times only and I have loved the times I spent there...but be it Mumbai or any other place in the world, why terrorism? why kill innocent people?
People who were rescued saying that they waited hours and hours in the rooms locked in darkness and silence to be rescued, spenting each and every moment praying and hoping that they get out of there alive and with the terror of being murdered...What could be even worse than this, its like seeing your own death on front of you helplessly.....people who were shot at close range, imagine what they must have gone through before dying... families who have lost their dear and near ones -how their lives change in a moment...😭
You were lucky to have visited sooo many places in India....
Me always loved travelling in India, but me have only visited couple of places in north and south during vacations in India😔...

edit add: read lana (lghosh) comments and put this in
('cause she is right -- what i wrote above is my feelings for bombay. this is what actually happened to my poor city.)
Oh you're from mumbai? If I'm not wrong , you live in singapore at present , right?
when these things happen in your own city and somewhere around you, thats when you seriously give it a thought...For the past few years , we have been hearing whats happening in Palestine, Iraq, afghanistan, newyork , london, islamabad, hyderabad, delhi and many other places where innocent people loose their lives and families are shattered...

*wtf#1: in what has happened to bombay, bombay, the south bombay hotels, the people who had to die because of this are like heer&meher. but the effect is the same. . for the first time, people are shaken out of their "chalta-hai" attitude. they are scared. they are wary. they want more protection.
Agree ..
India has handled such situations sensibly...like during the delhi blasts or the hyderabad blasts or others...
But what I would like to say here is, Mostly what happens in the world are all manipulated by politicians
they give rise to terrorism due to their acts or for their selfish reasons...they manipulate communal riots and other similar things for their own benefits especially during election times......
all over the world there are innocent people dying due to terrorism, what do they get out of this....
wonder when all this will come to an end ...
.
* wtf#4: the mumbai police force are like ... kul-di and probably her husband. they have good intentions and want to help. but they are not equipped enough.
True, the government should invest more on the security forces of the country...provide them with latest arms & amenities...

* wtf#5: the nsg commandos are like ..... prem! when they get going, they don't stop until they have won. 'cause they fight. and fight. and fight. like prem did.
India salutes their bravery and dedication....Indian government should do a lot more for them...they are our saviours....Like Prem is for the show....hmm Prem come back soon....

* wtf#7: the newspeople/channels are like the director+camera-crew+editors at balaji telefilms/show-channels. they bring us the package of what is going on.
I really appreciate the newspeople , journalists and cameramen who risk their own lives being at the spot and working 24/7 to give us live updates...I was watching NDTV live on 27/11 , which was airing live from Taj, Trident and Nariman House...
Even I thought Preet couldnt be compared to the politicians but since you changed it to government, makes sense,
