so even though it's dreadfully old hat and late, i have to do this. apologies to all...
* big thing (from yesterday's episode): so prem does die! even though laluchacha does try to stop him. preet holds his father back! as expected, gayatri-mom does nothing... and prem's face is peaceful as he takes that last fateful step... and prem-heer fall....
* big thing: it's a laluchacha dream! so despite the irritated look on my study-group collective face as my prem-crazy friend and i squawked aloud in the middle of some intense discussion on gender differentiation impacts on social behaviour, my mind instantly flashed these out:
- from when on was it a dream?? from the point that prem hop-skipped-jump-ran away from laluchacha to find heer? or from when prem discovers heer dead? when!!?
- gee, laluchacha has a rather romantic notion of his son! i mean, it's okay if i thought that prem in that episode was romantic - but laluchacha??!! hmmmmm... 😆
- can i blame the silliness of prem having and talking to a heer photograph as being part of laluchacha dream? 😆
- (and last but not the least) damn! but the entire creative team of the show really adore hc, don't they? i mean, they gave practically an entire episode for hc to show his brilliance as an actor! the lines suited him perfectly. the camera adored him. the background score was near-perfection in parts. i mean, it was almost like they were trying to showcase hc the actor for some great role. and if this was shown, he would've got the role - any role! - for sure. i mean -- seriously! donchya think??
* little thing: loved how preet was still looking all dazed and confused. loved how the only thing that perked him up was his pb.
* little thing: so has laluchacha told the secret of heer to anyone? has he at least told it to gayatri-mom? oh please, don't tell me that he will not tell prem who heer is now??? i can imagine he will not do it saying that it might hurt prem more if prem knew the turth?? damnit!
* little thing: so prem tells laluchacha that he is tired -- is the forum going to tear him to pieces for this, or not? or is everyone just too glad that yesterday's show was all just a dream and prem-heer are still alive? 😆
* prem thing: prem goes totally into stone mode when laluchacha tells him that the storm "took heer away, from my hands". he really doesn't listen to anything else after that, does he? 😊
and then, when his brain looks like it's beginning to function again, he is indignant more than anything else -- it's like he's thinking "how absurd! how can my father even think like that!? heer leave me?? unthinkable...." 😆 prem -- and before anyone can catch him, that hop-skip-running prem has slipped out of the tent.
and then stands still outside, all alone somewhere. sigh. i do wish the editors and story writers knew how to take these segments and weave them all together more smoothly than they've been showing so far. it's like the moment they have to take two segments shot in two different locations, they have no clue what to do.
* little thing: how does dheer know prem??? i mean, he's never actually met him, right? and yet, we have mr. dheer walk confidentally upto prem, tap him on the shoulder, address him chumily as "prem..." i had a whole new sense of a disconnect here...
and then, prem spends a whole 30 seconds doing that little grin at the thread, presumably about his prayers being answered. not that they weren't pretty prayers -- but why isn't he dashing off immediately? disconnect, disconnect, disconnect making my eyes cross each other. made one of the gang ask if i was going to fall over my chair again with a squawk like i did before...
edit add
* big thing: dirtchachi still terrifies me as the evil piece in the show. i mean, she is ludicrously funny - but even as i'm grinning, i have this shadow in the back of my head that says "she's evil - she hates heer. she hates prem. she's going to make their life miserable. she's gonna get preet too now. she's evil." why do i get the feeling that i'm not going to get my vengence on dirtchachi anytime soon...?
edit end
* little thing: that daijaan/beeji scene with nihaal turned my stomach. seriously. i was totally sickened by her vendictiveness. even though she turned a 180-degrees around after that. i mean, here she was, alive and well, in the middle of obvious destruction, and she was screeching about being held prisoner?? sorry, my respect for old people and their inflexibility about various social norms couldn't take this. and somehow, when she started praying to allah after hearing how she was saved, it made me feel even more ill. sorry. i found that attitude bordering on ... evil. sorry.
* little thing: 'twas nice seeing balraj and teji maan again, though. 😊
* big thing: nihaal is told that he is not his mother's son, but that he was from another family. that the family was at amabala (?) train station. and that one of his family members was at the dargah.
but other than that.. nothing! how's he going to find out who his sisters are???
* prem thing(s): prem's got eagle eyes! from that distance, he catches sight of a white dupatta in the waters! prem's got eagle brains! he remembers the same dupatta flying in the storm (something we hadn't seen then! what?! now he's tapping into some special laluchacha memory bank that had this image?? 😆). prem's got eagle eyes! he sees a little head pop out of the water after the dupatta -- something that the people in the boat with the big light miss seeing. (er, so was that prem's second sight on heer and her whereabouts that got into action there?) prem's got eagle wings! he ducks under the tape, slips under the grasp of all those trained-to-restrain military folk, does a 100-meter dash, and plunges into the waters where others are looking and are giving up!
liking (even if i'm laughing at) eagle-prem. 😆
* little thing: everytime gayatri-mom is distressed about some prem-thing, it's preet who comes to hold her, comfort her. i hope gayatri-mom shows him some love soon. or, i guess he's there for her, because she always has? 😊
* prem-heer thing: if it were not for the pre-cap, i'd have said that i missed heer in this episode... i really did. i'm so used to fine-tuning on prem, that i'd never noticed it. but i missed her. and was really glad to see her in the pre-cap.
* little thing: i think that this is actually a fantastic idea on the part of the show. there should be a pre-cap only at the end of the week's show - for what's going to happen either on monday, or at some point during the week. what a brilliant way to keep the blood flowing, the heart-beats thumping during the (dull) weekend. what a brilliant way to get the trps ripping -- much more brilliant than paying some two-bit newsrag/tv-channel to disrupt thought with their randomness... no?
highlight of the episode: hmmm... preet's dazed look was something that caught my eye. nihaal's love for his mom stayed with him even after he heard her story.
blue-blue-waters with bubbles around prem's hair?? 😆 sorry, but you all should know how much of a sucker i am for prem-in-white-shirt-and-blue-lights... and then, you have him holding heer's head -- don't think about how he's doing it under water instead of taking her to the surface, don't think about how they are not really mer-people! -- and then it might actually look totally sexy...
