Stepping back a day...A few thoughts about the Jan 27th, 2014 episode...
- The episode starts off with a bang, pretty much literally...Dramatic sound effects to kick off the eviction drama! I expected the bank guy to be obnoxious...He starts off being typically awful but with a nonchalant tone. As he kept talking, I started wondering if he'd make Saachi an "offer" in exchange for more time or something...One quick shot and we know when that thought has crossed his mind...Ugh. What a way to start off the episode. That said, I love how Saachi reacts to the creep, and I also like that the camera frame catches Naani's reaction as well.
- Very interesting camera angles they've used for the saamaan-throwing scenes...Just felt like mentioning that today because I can't recall ever seeing the house from such a view 😆 I'm most familiar with the picture wall, the brick wall, the staircase, and the living room and kitchen...and then Saachi's room and the unforgettable terrace upstairs...Yeah, Prabhu Niwas is definitely home!
- Obnoxious bank guy taunts Aaji and Naani (and even Aadu) for their slow packing skills...Such disrespect for people, gosh! And that doesn't sit well with Saachi or Naani, for that matter. (Random thought: The guy's word choice, "Tai", "Aunty", and "Munna", and tone kind of reminded me of my favorite tandoori-chicken-with-a-twist cop...Except one creeps me out far more than the other...) Naani's "Oye, badtameez! Mere saath badtameezi mat karna, samjhe?! Maine Punjab ka paani piya hua hai!" made my day! Or so I thought, at that point...I'm thinking back to the very first episode of JLZ, when we first saw Naani open the door of Prabhu Niwas and take in the wedding invitation basket with all the laddoos 😆 From that point on, I associated Aaji and Naani with Prabhu Niwas as much as I associate the house with Saachi and Aadu. It made me so happy seeing Naani stand up and give that loser banker guy an earful because she was standing up for herself and her family - and her home, too. I can't imagine how terrible I'd feel if I were suddenly in a similar situation, having to leave my home like that!
- Saachi rushes to prevent the altercation from getting worse - and to possibly shield Naani from harm - and ends up being knocked off-balance...until someone breaks her fall...*pauses for a moment* DV's BACK! 👏 Personally speaking, I actually really like the way this filmi fall-and-catch scene was executed and filmed...The focus is entirely on Ruslaan-Sangita's faces and body positions, but, until the very, very end when we finally see an establishing shot, the shots are closeups, so that the main aspect of the reunion that is highlighted is the emotion, conveyed through the actors' expressions. And they do this so well.
- When DV catches Saachi, the focus is on Sangita's face - the camera then moves to reveal Ruslaan's face, little by little - and so we see what Saachi sees, in a way, although we are in an omniscient viewer's shoes. The camera comes back to them again a little bit later (twice, in fact), starting at a lower point and tilting up...DV is holding Saachi so securely that she won't fall. He won't let her go. There's the tiniest hint of a smile on DV's lips as he looks at Saachi, who is gazing back at him...I've seen this enough times now to appreciate the way both of them let their eyes travel over each other's faces...Unwavering focus as each takes in the other's facial features again...I also love the music they chose to add for this first part of the scene - the "Window to the Heart" theme, as I call it...There's intensity but it is tranquilly expressed...and I think it complements this moment well, as time comes to a standstill as these two reunite.
- The music changes to the JLZ theme...I always think of Saachi's confession/acceptance scene when I hear this theme...The feeling of elation that I always associate with this music came back while watching this episode for the first time yesterday because of the familiarity of it all...And once again, the camera movement caught my eye. The smooth panning from the place where Saachi is gripping DV's arm for support, up to a spot where we can see Saachi looking up at DV, with a sort of soft awe...Her eyes don't move once from DV's face...Not even when Aadu lets out a happy exclamation and DV looks away for a moment before turning back to Saachi...
- "Mujhe toh aana hi tha...Iss love story ka hero jo hoon..." DV answers Aadu's verbal question as well as the question that Saachi seems to be asking with her silence and unwavering gaze. He says the first bit while looking at her so gently and her expression softens as well...That tiny smile that accompanies this moment is so, so beautiful...It's like there's a mixture of hope and relief and happiness all welling up inside of her...Beautifully emoted by Sangita! And of course Ruslaan delivers the sincere portions of his lines as wonderfully as he does the slightly more cheeky yet equally genuine portions...And the wink! Awww, DV! ❤️ There's that lovely split-second where we can see Ruslaan wink and Sangita smiles a bit...I'm guessing that was one fraction of a second that got left in accidentally since Saachi's reaction is more accurate continuity-wise with the next closeup where she lets her eyes linger on DV's face for a moment before realizing where she is and what is happening...But I do so love that little fraction of a second because that wink and that smile are just too sweet!
- "Hero...Kaun ho tum?" "Abhi toh bola tumne...Hero. Hero hi hoon main." Aaah, DV gives it right back to the obnoxious bank guy! 👏 LOLL at the fan brigade in the background, giving happy/supportive reactions in response! Meanwhile, DV is looking at the guy coolly - and was that a teeny tiny nod in response to the guy's mocking, "Hero hai tu?" #ILikeIt! 😆 Hah, and he's so calm when it comes to stopping a blow from hitting him, too! 👏 The instant the guy raises a hand to hit DV, Saachi moves forward out of instinct...and just as quickly, DV's expression hardens. What a transition there! Kudos to Ruslaan for that! 👏 Saachi is still tense as DV continues to hold the man's fist...She relaxes a bit when it looks like DV is out of danger. And DV handles these situations with such politeness, man! Well, he's more polite than I would've been if someone had been disrespectful to my loved ones...
- "Oye! Mujhse gale nahi milega, kya?" Aww, Naani! She's so cute! It's very sweet how DV goes to touch Aaji's feet first thing after giving the property papers to the obnoxious bank guy to read. LOL at the way Aadu intercepts DV for a hug before he can get to Naani to give her a hug! Was Saachi expecting more of a greeting than the one she got...? Her face seems to fall a bit and she hardly looks elsewhere as DV is greeting the others warmly...Oh, Saachi...Aside: Sangita looks SO pretty in all of these shots...Literally every single one from start to end. Likewise, Ruslaan looks as winsome and dashing as ever, too, all clean-shaven and well-groomed! I like it! No...I love it! Both of them look so fresh-faced...Even if Sangita has a sheen of tears in her eyes in a lot of these moments, she brings out Saachi's fragile beauty very nicely indeed.
- "Ab baaki sab se bhi gale mil loon?" Cheeky comment to Naani...but directed towards the one person whose head snaps around to look at him as soon as the words leave his mouth! I find it so hilarious that Aaji-Naani share amused, knowing glances and Aadu is also grinning away in the background! 😆 Fan brigade of the best variety, these three! The only person missing is Dils!
- "Tum...yahaan...kaise?" Aww, the way those three words come out so softly, almost like she's having difficulty speaking now...Sangita does this little eyebrow quirk right at the end of this line, with her eyes widening a bit...I only just noticed it, and it makes me want to give Saachi a hug. She looks so delicate - and this impression is just from me looking at her eyes...Haha, and in contrast to that, Ruslaan is in his element with DV's knowing glances and his half-smiles and that way he tilts his head...that DV-style posture of his...😃 "Apne ghar aaya hoon..." and I'm presuming Saachi is a bit confused for a second before she probably thinks, "Oh, he's just joking around...But he practically lives here anyways..." And then the "Yeh ghar ab mera hai" really throws her...Interesting transition of expressions here as Saachi puts the pieces together (incorrectly because she only knows half the story) and tries to mask her feelings..."Apne ghar...akele hi aaye ho tum?" She tries to be nonchalant about this, but her eyes give her away...and then her voice gives her away, too, when she takes Ankita's name and her voice breaks...DV can read her, and he just quietly regards her words...She congratulates him and smiles, but there is sadness in her eyes, not happiness. And he smiles, laughs to himself, before looking up at her again more seriously.
- "Aadhi khabar achchi nahi hoti, Saachiji..." Saachi's smile vanishes. Aadhi khabar - as DV continues to speak, Saachi's fears seem to shine in her eyes as she looks at him. I feel like there's a dread within her, that she's going to hear what she never wanted to hear...that him coming to save her and her family and her house was all a cruel joke...But the truth is so very different. "Ankita se meri sagaai kabhi honi hi nahi thi." I liked the line about the ring, personally, because, in my mind, DV's not talking about the physical ring itself, but about the feelings associated with the act of proposing and intending, wholeheartedly, to fulfill marriage vows and live out a life of togetherness. Unless, of course, DV was indeed referring to both the physical ring, which is not with them now, and the relationship that he wants to make legal with a marriage ring...That would be fine with me, since he looks at her with an expression that breaks my heart and she mirrors it, too. At this point, no, I'm not going to talk about that poor, poor ring anymore. Nope. Done with that until they actually get married, whenever that will be. I'm going to take a moment instead to say that the closeups during this part of the scene are lovely. Dramatic, yes. But I liked the editing here more than I'd expected to. And I have to say that the editing/music people did a very, very good job with the Panchgani scenes in this episode! The flow and complementarity of music/editing is very nice after what feels like quite a while.
- "Haan. You're right. Iss par Mrs. Goel hi likha hua hai." Well, then...Saachi seems to think..."Par Mumbai-waali Mrs. Goel nahi...Panchgani-waali." That gets her attention..."To-be Mrs. Goel..." He's starting to weave those dreams again...*sigh* And she brings herself back to reality with an unpleasant thud..."Sorry, DV." DV was probably expecting her to pull back...I'm far more amused by the "Oh goddd" reactions of everyone else in the room! 😆 Haha! Audience reactions times 3! 😆 I do love Saachi's soft "Sorry..." as though she's stifling her own dreams and desires in spite of herself. Someone REALLY needs to give this woman the blessings that she is doing all this for...This is hurting her... *weary sigh*
- Nautanki galore! 😆 Two patients and a dutiful caregiver...Aaji, Naani, and Aadu, in other words! 😆 And DV's "What are you going to do now? Are you still going to leave? Stubborn enough to follow through with it?" expressions...So casually he steps back and perches on the chair, haha! And then he just keeps looking at her with that amused glint in his eyes and all Saachi can do is give him a mildly exasperated look in return for a nanosecond before diverting her attention to more important things...and he's still watching her with that look on his face, LOL! Oh, how I missed this DV! 😆 Love Ruslaan's eyebrow quirk before he sighs and sits down! Awww! Haaye! DV ka jaadoo! 😆
- I think this is my most favorite moment in the entire episode...Ruslaan and Sangita both look so adorable, firstly...And secondly, the nonverbal exchange between DV and Saachi here just makes me smile every single time I watch this bit! He grins and tilts his head to the side, with a good-humored question and a challenge in his body language...which she reads and responds to in spite of herself...That smile that just barely touches her lips...and then the final smile and shake of the head that says, "Fine, then...But I'm not staying here..." These silent moments are, without a doubt, the most memorable of their interactions for me. The actors' chemistry really shines in these moments and I find myself floored no matter how many times I watch them.

- "Theek hai...Main akele hi chali jaati hoon..." And DV tilts his head again as if to say, "Oh?" while Aaji-Naani are shaking their heads and making exasperated faces...LOL, that's totally us, I think! I'm like a mixture of DV and Aaji-Naani-Aadu, oscillating between amused and exasperated 😆 Oh, but I think Saachi gives him that wistful head tilt...just a tiny bit, I think...
- The rent conversation between DV and Aaji-Naani-Aadu is very sweet. Getting a bit of time to focus on the various relationships that DV has within the Prabhu family...those interactions made me all emotional! All these actors are so wonderful! They're such a huge reason why I fell in love with JLZ and its Panchgani setting in the first place. These relationships between characters have continued to grow, with little deviations now and then, but here's hoping that things develop smoothly overall in the future episodes, too.
- "Maine...sabko bahut miss kiya! Haan, lekin ek hai...jisse maine sabse zyaada miss kiya..." He goes and leans on the railing to watch Saachi take things upstairs while she's anxiously waiting to her him say exactly who he missed most, haha! He'll grin and tease her about it indirectly and she won't cave in, either...Oh, these two. *shakes head* Incorrigible! LOL, Ulka Kaaku! 😆 Yes, our DV has returned, haha!
- "Sote hue...jaagte hue...aur rote hue..." What caught my attention about this was the way DV says that line so seriously...he looks up at Saachi with such a piercing gaze...and she maintains eye contact with just as much seriousness...This reminded me of that scene - I think it was after the surprise kiss and all - where Saachi comes downstairs and DV is at the foot of the staircase...I think the way both scenes were shot gave me that sense of deja vu...Except the situations couldn't be more different now, could they? There's yearning of a more melancholy kind this time around, I suppose...which needs to evaporate and give rise to the happy kind of yearning again soon...*sigh* Anyways, speaking of happiness, in this scene, the chorus of "Humein pata hai!" still makes me laugh! They jolted DV out of his little reverie where he was probably only aware of Saachi's presence...😆
- DV and his math lines...I wonder if the guy liked math a lot when he was a kid 😆 But jokes apart, I do like the way these dialogues come up depending on the characters' personalities at various times...Like Naani and her food analogies, DV and his math and wordplay lines...Good stuff. And these particular math lines gave way to that all-important advice..."Jo dikhta hai, woh hamesha sach nahi hota...Kabhi kabhi apni dil ki baat bhi sunn leni chahiye..."
- "Aur main vaada todta nahi..." The way they look at each other after DV says this...💔 Helpless yearning...Saachi's expression as she thinks about the promise she has to uphold...*sad sigh* The final scene at the top of the staircase just reinforces how both DV and Saachi have the conviction to do what they feel is right...but it's ironically working against them. Saachi is back to those familiar denials, somewhat similar to the days when she kept denying that she felt anything akin to love for DV...And DV has restored his conviction that he'll be able to break down Saachi's defensive walls again because he knows how she really feels...
- "Mazaak nahi hai yeh, DV..." "Bilkul nahi hai." Aaah, this last scene...Ruslaan-Sangita's expressions and voice modulation are superb! Ruslaan had the monologue to deliver, and after Sangita started leading the scene, he took over and delivered those lines so beautifully...Every line has a different tone to it, a different inflection...DV bares his soul to Saachi yet again, but this time, he is even more certain and more serious about living out the various phases of life with Saachi as his wife...A lovely way to end this episode!
As promised...A few thoughts...😊
