Much has been said and written about Shabbir's acting prowess. He is an artiste par excellence and deserves every praise he gets. But I want to dedicate this thread to this young lad who at 23 years of age, is only a year and a half old in the television industry, has no acting background and yet has done a stupendous job in this show - Jay Bhanushali.
Jay has always done the role of the mischievous, flirtatious, lover boy well because it is close to his real life character. His endearing smile and chocholate boy innocent looks are great assets to essay such a role. But what is commendable is that this guy has come a long way since then and has in recent weeks treated us to another side of him which was not explored earlier in the show.
While his sarcasm always came off well when he had to direct it to Ayesha, especially with his glib tongue, playing a Neev who has to have shifty gaze, guilty look and cunning demure is not easy, especially when you have the physical looks he does. So those looks which were an asset earlier, turn into a handicap to play a negative role or a role which has to pretend to be negative. But Jay has overcome that handicap, and despite his innocent physical appearance has carried off the expressions quite convincingly.
Earlier on in his portrayal of pain at coming to know the truth behind Prachi's behaviour and how he lost her was also heart wrenching. In fact the entire PA phase and the period thereafter, Jay was the only actor who got the opportunity to portray diverse shades to his character and he has done a remarkable job at that.
I am sure that had he stayed on and Neev was indeed made negative, he would have been brilliant in portraying a suave, polished and very dangerous villian. Pity he is leaving the show. Anyway, it is his call and I am sure with such a performance in his very first show, he would only be grabbed by the industry with great enthusiasm.
Here's wishing him all the very best for all his future projects. &am p;nb sp;
