Karan is just trying to play it cool. He knows if Payal suspect his true feelings right now, she won't have much to do with him
May be, you wanted to show that payal was jealous of karan.... 😕 And yes, Payal does get very, very jealous of Nisha. 😆

I must admit though...I perhaps thought Vani would make an appearance...nonetheless I still love Riley 😆 He's a hoot... He is kinda funny but hopefully it doesn't get too grating later on. 😆
Payal, I actually felt sorry for...being an elder sister myself of a brother very much like Riley...I don't envy you! 😆I can totally understand how fustrated she must have gotten trying to keep things in order...
Like Sangee...I must say, Karan's behaviour puzzled me somewhat...perhaps you wanted to show Payal how desirable Karan actually is Yeah, she is not too happy when she figures that out! but Karan leaving with Nisha was strange...esspecially because he left America as nothing but Payal was really on his mind...but I guess guys cant resist fast cars... 😆

Part 10
Riley was crashed out on the sofa. It was 8 am and everyone had finally left at 6am. Payal had given up on the party soon after Karan had left and had stormed off to bed. Payal grabbed a scatter cushion laying on the floor and whacked Riley over the head, hard. "Get up, get up!", she yelled. "What?, What?", asked Riley sitting bolt upright. "Look at this place!", yelled Payal. Riley looked at the room, furniture had been moved around, empty chips packets and drink bottles laid strewn all over, a pair of shorts was hanging from the chandelier and Prachi's ming vase lay broken. "Aww, stop screaming, my head hurts.", grumbled Riley as he rubbed his eyes. "Well, maybe this has something to do with that.", hissed Payal as she shook an empty beer bottle in front of him. "I'm going to pick up Mum & Dad from the airport. You better have this place in shape in the next 2 hours or both of us are going to be on the street.", said Payal as she threw the cushion back at Riley, before she headed out.
At the airport, after greeting and hugging her parents, Payal tried to stall them as much as possible. "Lets go have lunch before going home.", suggested Payal. "Sweetheart, I'm tired. It was a long flight.", said Milind. "Okay.", said a nervous Payal as she linked arms with Prachi. "Sure you're don't want to stop and see Aunt Sukriti before going home. We're on the way.", said Payal in the car. "No, I just want to get back home.", said a tired Prachi as she laid her head on Milind's shoulder. Payal drove into the driveway nervously. However, Riley came happily bounding down the driveway and hugged both his parents before going to get their luggage from the car. As her parents entered the house, Payal grabbed hold of Riley's arm and held him back. "Riley, did you clean up?", asked Payal worriedly, in a whisper. "Don't worry, it's all under control.", replied Riley cheerfully.
Payal looked around the house astonished. It looked in pretty good shape. Of course on her mother's closer inspection, she would find the floor was in a complete mess and a hundred things out of place but it didn't look like a disaster zone. If she could just convince her parents to go to their room and sleep off their jet lag, she and Riley could get the house spotless before they wake up and no one would be the wiser. Unfortunately her parents had other ideas. Her father headed to the living room, all the while talking to Riley about sports and work, a conversation Riley was enthusiastically engaged in. Payal jabbed Riley in the ribs. Riley doubled over, "Aaahh! What was that for?". Milind and Prachi looked at Payal astonished. "Payal, what's wrong?", asked Prachi. "Nothing.", replied Payal quickly, "Shouldn't you be resting? You were just saying how tired you are.". "I think I'll just sit by the pool for a while.", replied Milind, much to his daughter's relief, before heading out the door.
But Payal's relief was shortlived. Prachi had a curious expression on her face, "What's that smell?". "I'm sure it's nothing.", said Payal, though she couldn't deny the odour herself. Prachi looked at Riley exasperated, "Riley, please tell me you have been putting your dirty clothes in the laundry.". "Yea...", said Riley but Payal quickly interrupted him, "Mum, that's probably it. Why don't you go rest and Riley and I will sort it out.", said Payal. But Prachi was barely listening to her. "It's coming from there.", she said walking towards the hidden closet by the staircase. "Mum...", said Riley alarmed, making a move towards the closet. But before he could stop Prachi, she had opened the closet and out came tumbling drink bottles, pizza boxes and wet towels. "Could you have at least used a bin bag?", asked Payal wearily, as she glared at Riley. Just then Milind walked back into the house leading in a sheepish Sanjay who had been fallen asleep by the side of the pool. "Is someone going to introduce me to your friend?", asked Milind calmly.
After sending Sanjay home, Payal and Riley sat in the living room, facing their parents. Milind was actually a bit amused but seeing the furious expression on his wife's face as she looked at the pieces of her broken vase, he knew that was something he had to keep to himself. "You're a doctor, you're the head of a marketing department. I don't expect your'll not to have some fun but look at this house. This is just irresponsible!", said a dismayed Prachi, "You're too old for me to be scolding your'll like this.". "Mum, I promise I'll replace your vase.", said Riley, miserable that Prachi was so upset. On seeing Riley's woeful expression, Prachi could feel herself softening up but she knew while he will always be her baby boy, she couldn't mollycoddle him forever. Prachi sighed as she got up, "I don't know what to say to either of you right now.". "Clean up this mess.", said Milind firmly as he followed his wife out the room.
Riley was vacuuming, when Payal came back down stairs with her lap top bag and hand bag. "Where are you going?", asked Riley worriedly. "To work.", replied Payal coolly. "You just going to leave me to clean up on my own?", asked Riley alarmed. "Yes.", replied Payal calmly. "Aaah, come on sis, be a sport.", pleaded Riley. "No! I'm more interested in being an adult. An adult who does not hang out with college students at wild parties!", retorted Payal, not so calmly any more. "An adult who works a few extra hours and then has a nice grown-up dinner with her civilized friends who are over the age of twenty. Try it sometime!", snapped Payal before she stormed out the house.
Milind put his arm around Prachi as she stood in their room looking out the window. "Prachi, I'll get you another vase, even if I have to walk to China for one. Now, cheer up.", said Milind, with a smile. Prachi smiled. Even after more than thirty years of marriage, he still knew how to make her smile. But then, she thought of her children and she sighed. "It's not about the vase. How can they be so irresponsible at their age?". "We had it easy when they were in their teens. They were both pretty well behaved, so we can't complain too much.", replied Milind. "Well, maybe it would have been better if they had done this in their teens. At least now they would be more settled.", replied Prachi.
"Riley is doing great at the hospital and Payal couldn't be doing any better at the company.", replied Milind, not sure what Prachi was referring to. "I'm not talking about their careers.", replied Prachi, "Do you realize we were married at 25 and 28. Actually I was a mother at 28.". "So, that's the problem.", said Milind, laughing. "Well, unlike you, I would like to have a grandchild by the time I'm sixty.", said Prachi. "Prachi, there is no rush. I'm sure they will settle down when they're ready.", said Milind. But Prachi didn't look convinced. Riley didn't seem to realize there was a thing such as the opposite sex and Payal was even more of a concern. After having her heart broken once, Prachi wondered if she will would ever open herself up to the possibility of true love.

awwwww Michi finally arrive...and😭That beauitful beautiful vase!! Riley!😆 how sweeeeeet is Milind!! That was sweet but initially I wrote it to be funny.
Loveeeeeeeeed it!! 👏...did Miss Karan and Vani thou...hehe... Don't worry, there is plenty of both of them in Part 11 and hopefully it helps to develope their characters more especially Vani's.

BC i was about to PM you a few days ago to ask when you will update this fic..since you started another one. But i forgot like usual and was so surprised to see this on the first page.
WOW..i was actually waiting for a part like this in the FF...Michi are here.😆 I am sorry i know the FF is more on their kids but i simply love this part the best...i know i am biased...i can't imagine them at this age.
Milind 😳 walking to china to get her the vase. awww...i love them so. I think the reason i've been rather disconnected to both Payal and Riley is that i don't have a face to associate with them...so its hard to imagine their scenes. Karan, tho i got a pretty good description on and i have an image in my head of Karan. If its not too much can you try to find actors that would fit the role of Payal, Riley and Karan etc.😃 Just so i can make mental pictures when i am reading. JC! I changed my mind! I watched Bachna Ae Haseeno today and now I can't picture Payal looking like anyone except Deepika Padukone, especially in the last scene where she had the long curly hair. Especially since her character was a hardworking, wannabe business woman. And she would look good with Karan Grover Singh. 😆
now about the update...i understand Prachi completely. Even at this age Riley really behaves more like he is in highschool and Payal like the big sis who would much rather move away to college than hang around her crazy brother. Seems rather odd for a guy who is a doctor and a woman who at Payal's position and age. They both need to leave the nest. And their complete lack of a love life compounds things. At work, they're both smart and professional but at home they just regress to being back teenagers. I can actually relate. 😆 But changes are at afoot. I think I hinted at it for Riley in Part 7 when he was feeling uncomfortable about explaining his reasons for becoming a doctor to Vani.

Aww Munee, I hate to say this but if KYM goes on for another 2 years and seeing Balaji's love for leaps, in all probablity we are going to see them play the parents of twenty somethings. 😆 But really the Michi in my FF is pretty different from KYM Michi. Payal I can so connect to her, she's so much like myself Really! 😃 I'd really like to see how you progress with her character. Is she with karan in this? She took enough during the party and if she stayed back and helped him, then she would have just being too soft on him. So Prachi is into worried mom mode now. It was so funny the way she talks about her kids and marriage, reminded me of my own mom😉 Yeah, she is pretty typical of most mothers. 😃
