Part 6
Prachi had been given a lot of work to do for the evening's function. One of the tasks was handling over some papers to Neev's dad before leaving for the farmhouse. She quickly left as she didn't want her dadi to make some excuse and send one of their servants to do this chore. Dadi didn't approve of Prachi's going over to Shergills everyday. She didn't like Neharika and she made no attempt to hide it. Also Prachi thought it would be nice to see Neev early in the morning than waiting for him to show up at the function later.
With quick strides she made her way out of the house. She was just too excited about the evening. She loved festivals and celebrating them with loved ones.
Once she handed her papers to Mr. Shergill, she walked over to Neev's room. Neev as usual was sleeping late comfortably. He had a smile on his face as if he was dreaming about something. Prachi thought he looked cute and decided not to disturb him and walk away but then something striked her. She walked softly towards his bed and bent closely to his face. She brought her lips close to his ears and screamed as loud as she could.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Neev woke up jolted and confused. At first he couldn't register what had happened but then he saw Prachi sitting on the floor laughing loudly, pointing her finger at him ,tears running from her eyes.
"Prachi Paagal ho?? aise bhi koi kisi ko jagaata hai??"
"Tum sote huye itne cute lag rahe the ki mujhse raha nahi gaya" Prachi confessed laughing her heart out. Neev threw his pillow at her and soon they both broke into a pillow fight. They were laughing loudly and could be heard by Milind in the other room. He wondered what had happened and as to why was Neev laughing so loudly and who was with him. The voice seemed to be that of some girl.
"Neev, Shaam ko time par aa jana..sote mat rehna" Prachi said catching her breath.
"haan haan , aa jaaunga, ab to Miland bhi aa gaya hai, bahut maza aayega" Neev replied and walked towards the table to get a glass of water. He poured himself some water and was about to bring it to his mouth when Prachi pushed the glass from below with a jolt making the whole water splash on Neev's face and ran saying "ab to tumhari neend puri tarah se khul gayi hogi"
Neev gasped for breath as the water soaked his face "prachi ki bachchi, yeh dusri baar tumne....." but before he could finish his sentence, Prachi was already out of the door running as fast as she could.
Still engrossed in his thoughts, Miland got up from bed and opened the door. Somebody collided with him but then ran past him without even looking back. She just kept giggling. Neev came running minutes later after her trying to catch her and stopped near Milind putting his hand on his shoulder, "Prachi ruko!!, Miland se to milti jaao" Neev shouted from behind.
Prachi kept running "shaam ko mil loongi" she shouted back.
"What happened?? Did u try to take a shower with ur clothes on? Miland said, looking at half soaked Neev. Neev looked down at himself and blamed Prachi "Yeh sab us madam ke kaam hain, aaj shaam ko mil lena us paagal Prachi se"
"Mujhe Prachi se nahi apni pari se milna hai" Miland thought. The two friends then later went to take shower and grab some breakfast.

Prachi had been busy helping her mother arrange a lot of things for the function. She got the table ready. It had a lot of sweets and other delicious punjabi food. She helped arrange the popcorn ,peanuts, til ,gachak n revadi. She arranged them around the space where they were gonna lit the bonfire. PL came to inspect the food and the arrangements and was happy with it. She then asked her daughters to go n get ready.
Neev got ready and walked over to Milind's room. He was surprised looking at his friend. "U surely are gonna look out of place if u wear that." He said pointing out to Milind's formal attire. "what ?? to kya pehnu??" Milind asked.
"yeh" Said Neev pulling out a fine black kurta with beautiful embroidery.
"yeh???" Milind looked confused. "Yaar ab tu punjab mei hai aur punjabi function attend karne ja raha hai. Now quickly get changed. We have to leave in half an hour. we r already late" saying that Neev left.
Prachi changed into an orange and pink lehnga. She wore minimal makeup with just a necklace and lots of bangles. She loved bangles, there hardly was any day when she didn't wear some. She looked so beautiful that her dad had tears in his eyes when he saw her come our of her room. He took her face in his hands and kissed her forehead "kisi ki nazar na lage" Prachi shied away and ran from there to meet her friends.
Neev, Milind and his family reached a little late. Prachi had been waiting for them for a long while.
"Maine kaha tha neev se, late mat hona" She was complaining to Saumya. Just then the shergills arrived. "Lo aa gaya aapka dost" Saumya beamed. "Usko bol dena mujhe nahi baat karni usse" saying that Prachi walked towards the bonfire. She started throwing some popcorn and til in the fire singing the songs along with the other people and pretended to be having a lot of fun.
Milind was surprised at what he saw. The farmhouse was beautifully decorated. There was a big bonfire right in the middle of the large garden. Neev was right he would have looked out of place if Neev didn't get the kurta which now he thought looked good on him and clung to his physique. Milind n Neev both were well aware of the glances all the girls were throwing at them. "yeh prachi kahan gayi??" Asked Neev. Saumya pointed in Prachi's direction. Neev looked over at Milind signaling him and started to walk towards Prachi. Milind followed him.
Milinds eyes opened wide in excitement. He wasn't looking forward to coming over here but suddenly it didn't appear to be such a bad idea. It was infact to be the best party or function he had ever been to. Before his eyes he once again saw the beauty he had fallen prey to just yesterday. Ofcourse almost half of the city was here. She would definetely be here. Why didn't he think of that earlier? , he thought. Today she looked as bright as the sun standing next to the fire. Her delicate features were glowing and that smile..... that smile was the sweetest thing he had ever seen. She was smiling and singing some songs along with others. He quickly ran his hands over his hair as an attempt to straighten them and flipped his kurta. He tried to ease his heart which was beating so loud that he thought everyone could hear it, by taking a big breath and puffed his chest as he took big strides towards the bonfire.
Prachi quickly glanced over to see Neev walking towards her, she turned and mischieviously mingled with the crowd. Milind's heart rate increased once again in panic when he lost her from his sight. His mind was racing. Where did she go?? She was just there right in front of him. Did he just imagine her?? Was it just his mind playing games with him. Or he was just seeing her everywhere now. He turned around to look for her and started walking in different direction. He had been looking for her for a long time now. It seemed like hours though it had only been a couple of minutes. He was getting restless when something or somebody collided with his back. He turned around and felt his heart jumped in his throat. There she was looking right in front of him staring at his face.
Prachi had been dodging Neev for sometime now, She was running backwards when she collided with somebody, laughing loudly she turned around and suddenly her laughter died away.
"TUM" she said.." tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?? Kisne bulaya tumko?? Apne gunge hone ka koi faida to nahi utha rahe??"
The smile which had left Prachi's lips was now on Milind's. He beamed with happiness. His face had a unique brightness which did not go unnoticed by Prachi. He looks much better today, she thought. His eyes weren't blank like before, nor they seemed to be staring in space anymore. Today his eyes were shining bright as if they had found what they were looking for.
"Pakad liya..." Neev came over laughing and held Prachi at her waist.."bas Prachi bahut ho gaya..I m tired now can we just sit and have some peanuts like everybody else?"
Prachi and Milind were looking at Neev now. "Aree tum dono to mile hi nahi. Main formal introductions karwa deta hoon, Prachi, yeh hai mera yaar, Milind" "aur milind, yeh hai meri sabse pyaari par thodi si paagal dost, Prachi"
Prachi and Milind couldn't believe their ears. Milind thought his mind had been wired wrong. Neev's Prachi is his pari?? The girl about whom he had listened his friend rant about all these years is his Pari?? what Luck....
He was quickly brought out of his thoughts when he heard prachi saying " yeh gunga tumhara dost Milind hai?? Tumne to kabhi bataya hi nahi ki...." Before she could finish her sentence, Neev stopped her " what?? gunga??? Yeh tumhe kisne kaha ki Milind bol nahi sakta"
"Aree yeh kuch bolta hi nahi...kisi baat ka jawaab nahi deta aur..." Again before she could finish, she was interrupted, But this time it was Milind "Tum kisi aur ko bolne ka mauka dogi tab na" Prachi was stunned, her hands came over her mouth as she said "Haaye rabba, yeh to bol sakta hai!!!" With this both Neev and Milind burst into laughter and Prachi started turning into all shades of red which made Milind's heart skip a beat once again!!!
