No Pragu. He is not falling for her because she is taking care of his sister. Well so is Asha tai isn't she.😆😆 But he is falling for her character. The fact that she seems completely different from what he expects from a girl in her position...she has no airs about her...she doesn't complain when he made her sleep on the cold floor and didn't have her own clothes to wear...he is rude to her but she forgives it and that she understands him to a great extent even though they barely know each other (according to him)...and there is a growing comfort level between them. And the reason i brought in the past memories of her and how he was drawn to her even back then though she looked different and she had no connection to his life (or so he thought)...I had hoped that it was clear that thats whats going on in his head. But i'll try to make it more evident (tho now i am wondering how to do that)

Neesha arguing over a movie 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣.........NOW I know that Ayesha has started to move on 😆 😆. They were too cute in that scene!!!!! Loved them.

lolz. Ayesha has moved on and she is very comfy around Neev now.😃

OK so you are bringing Alaap in, well I guess initally he will cause rift between Prachi and Milind but eventually he will be the reason because of which Milind will fall in love with Prachi when he sees how she has disowned him!!! Not quite. Like you said yourself before, i too want Milind to fall for Prachi for the person she is and not for what she does. Taking care of Suki and hating on Alaap are not reasons to fall madly in love with her. Those are merely reasons to not hate her and to have a certain respect for her and her views. Since i haven't written that part yet, i myself am not sure how i am going to handle Alaap-Prachi-Milind scns together. Lets c.

Waiting for the next update..........😳 Monday night (US time).😆😆

I know its been a while since I updated. And part of it had to do with time and also that i was trying to figure out how to move forward with the story. So sorry for the delay.

Chapter 37: Things that matter Part II

Ritwik was sitting in the main hall with a bunch of notebooks scattered around him. Sukriti sat on the sofa watching him as he tried to write the letters Prachi had told him to write. Asha tai breathed contently and walked up the stairs. She wanted to talk to Prachi about sending Ritwik to school. Milind had tried but Prachi seemed adamant and Asha tai didn't think that it was wise to waste another year of Ritwik. He was already starting to show improvements and that possibly had to do with his interaction with Milind, Sukriti and Asha tai. She felt that maybe other than Prachi no one else in the Shah house had taken interest in the boy's development. But the truth was that Prachi had kept Ritwik to herself. Prachi's possessiveness of Ritwik had done more harm than Prachi realized and Asha intended to make her understand this. She went up the stairs to Milind and Prachi's room but she halted a few steps outside the room as saw what Prachi was doing through the slightly open door.

Prachi had come upstairs to take a shower but as she took out her clothes and headed to the bathroom, she noticed Milind's shirt on a chair which he had carelessly thrown there before leaving this morning. A strange fancy had taken over and she took his shirt and put it on over her salwar. She straightened the collar and put it against her lips. It smelled of him, she thought, and smiled. She looked at herself in the mirror and blushed. "Milind…I love you", she said in a loud whisper. Even in an empty room she couldn't bring herself to say it too loudly. But she felt her heart fill up as the words left her lips. She went to the dresser and grabbed a small photo frame that held her wedding picture. She fell on the bed with that frame and looked at it endearingly. "Uss din toh bada gussa ho rahe the. Kyun mein tumhaari shirt nahi pehen sakti? Mein toh pehnungi. Ab gussa karo. Are karo gussa…mujhe koi fark nahi padta…samjhe Mr. Mishra!!!" She giggled…then her giggle died down and she stopped herself before her emotions got the better of her. She put the frame on the dresser and started humming the tune to her favorite song as she started to unbutton the shirt and held it in her hands. She was about to kiss the shirt again when she heard Asha tai calling her name.

Asha tai had only witnessed Prachi talking to the photo frame. She smiled at the girl's actions and took a few steps back. Then she called out "Prachi!!" announcing that she was coming in. Prachi hurriedly threw the shirt on the chair and looked at the door nervously as Asha tai entered. She hoped that the tai hadn't seen or worse, heard anything. If she had…no she probably hadn't. Prachi would just have to stop acting like this. She couldn't risk Milind finding out about her feelings for him. Asha tai came in and they had a long talk on what was best for Ritwik. Prachi wasn't able to put up much of an argument because she didn't want to offend Asha tai and also because Asha tai was mostly right. In the end Asha tai got Prachi to agree that sending Ritwick to school at this time was the best action since the new school year was beginning and if not now then Ritwick would have to wait out the whole year.

Prachi sat on the bed for a few minutes after Asha tai left, staring at the white sheets. She was upset but not particularly about sending Ritwik to school. She was upset because she had once again forgotten why she and Milind were married and unknowingly had allowed herself to fan the flame of love within her. She had known it would be difficult to keep a check on herself when she married Milind but she had done it so that Ritwick could know his real mother and so that Sukriti could get better and the debt that her family owed to Milind would somehow become less burdensome. But the old Prachi in her, the one that loved Milind from the depths of her soul, was threatening to complicate things. "Like it was any less difficult already," she scoffed. It wouldn't have been so difficult if only Milind continued to hate her. But now they were on friendly terms and that made it difficult for her to be unaffected. How cruel can the Gods get, she thought. A little while ago her heart was filled with all that is good in the world and now she was back where she didn't want to be. But that was her life now. She could only see the fleeting joy and never truly experience it or live in it. The Gods were enjoying themselves at her state, she was sure. "One day", she said grinding her teeth. "Just one day in my whole life…can I just have one day of happiness…true, genuine, complete happiness." She was pleading in front of the small idols of Ram and Sita in a corner of the room. "I promise, I'll live the rest of it in its memory…but just one day with Milind…one day when I don't have to hide anything…one day when I can laugh whole heartedly or atleast smile without having it fade from my face. Is that too much to ask? Don't I deserve that much?" She was both angry and disappointed. She had prayed to them her whole life with such faith yet they showed her no mercy.

PL called her that night to inform her that Soumya and Alaap were coming. It was Inder's death aniversary in a few days and Alaap was probably coming for the pooja. But Soumya was going to stay in Mumbai till the delivery.

The few days passed by in a blink. Alaap had arrived and the next day Soumya and Vishal too came. Vishal planned on staying for the pooja and he would leave the same day. Prachi had arrived early that morning with Ritwik. She was helping PL with preparations for the pooja when Anjali called from Turkey. No one openly acknowledged it, but it was evident that she remembered the day and that's why she had called. But like her usual self she was cheery and even through the phone she managed to make PL forget for a minute that it was her husband's death anniversary. Prachi was the last to talk to her.

Prachi: "Kaisi hai tu Anju?"
Anjali: "Mein first-class. Achcha sun, mein vahaan hoon nahi isliye tujhe keh rahi hoon. Badi maa ko aaj chod ke mat jaana. Mere baad agar Badi maa ko koi rahat de sakta hai toh voh sirf tu hai Prachi. Tere Milind ko kaise bhi pata lena iss baat ke liye. Mujhe maloom hai usse hamaare ghar rehna toh pasand hoga nahi."
Prachi: "Anju tu bhi na. Voh meri bhi mom hai. Just because she loves you a little more, doesn't mean I love her any less. Aur vaise bhi Milind yahaan hai nahi. Unhe business ki vajah se Delhi jaana pada."
Anjali: "Kya baat hai. Yaani ki ek ghamasaan yudh tal gaya?"
Prachi: "Kya?"
Anjali: "Mera matlab hai ke Alaap phir bach gaya marne se. Voh hai na vahaan?"
Prachi tightened her jaw. "Mujhe Alaap ke bare mein kuch nahi kehna". She tried controlling her anger.
Anjali: "ok ok chill Mrs Milind Mishra. I was just joking."
Prachi: "Anjali ek baar phir se kaho"
Anjali: "Kya?"
Prachi: "Kuch nahi"
Anjali: "Achaha before I forget, I actually need to give you my new contact number."
Prachi: "ya, mom was saying how she couldn't reach you in the number you gave. What happened."
Anjali: "I don't know. But anyway, I am not staying at the hotel anymore. So take down my new number."
Prachi took down the number. "But where are you staying then?"
Anjali: "With a friend. Ok Prachi I have to go now." She hurriedly got off the phone. But before the phone got disconnected Prachi heard a male voice in the background saying, "Anju dinner pe kya logi" and Anjali had replied, "Kavya mein ghar phone kar rahi thi." The phone got disconnected.

Prachi stared at the phone shocked. Anjali and Kavya? Was Kavya the friend she was talking about? Why was Anjali staying with him? Why wasn't Anjali telling her anything about Kavya? What was there to hide. She would call her back and make her talk. But not now, and not here. Prachi got busy with the preparations for the pooja again.

But she didn't realize that Alaap had heard her while she expressed her anger on the phone towards him. He had been standing behind her. He stared at his sister's back for a while as she continued to talk on the phone. Then he went back into his room. Why had he even come. He was not needed here. And he wasn't wanted here. But what had compelled him to come? Maybe just to see them all again. He sat alone in the room until he was called when the pooja started. He quietly went and sat at the back. No one noticed him. He had become invisible to his own family and it was frustrating. Especially Prachi's indifference was bothering him more than anyone else's. Deep down he knew that Prachi was the only person who had his back when he was growing up. She protected him from everyone's wrath and today she was the one who's anger he could not tolerate. He wasn't sure that the lifestyle he had lived, his attitude, had been worth the treatment he was getting now.
Ayesha stood in her favorite place in her room, by the window. Neev came up behind her and whispered. "Hey". He placed a hand on her shoulder and asked, "What are you thinking?" "Papa…" she didn't continue. Had she ever called him that. Yes she had, in her head, a lot of times, but whenever the words formed in her mouth it always had come out as Mr. Inder Shah. "Papa" she repeated as if she had just learned to say a new word and turned to look at Neev.
Neev: "Voh itne bure nahi the Ayesha"
Ayesha: "Shayad..lekin mere saath toh bura hi kiya na."
Neev went silent.
Ayesha: "You know whats most unfair of all, I have no memory of him. Everyone remotely related to this family has met him and known him and everyone at the pooja today had something that they remembered of Inder Shah. But his daughter…only me..i didn't have anything good to reminisce. And its his fault. I am allowed to hate him aren't I. Only I have the right to hate him."
Neev and Ayesha stood by the window staring out for a while in silence. Then she finally ended the pondering with "I don't want to hate him but I can't help it." Neev looked at her and smiled. "Ok then lets not bother about the things that can't be helped." He turned heading for the bed when Ayesha stopped him, "Neev", she said holding his hand. He turned to look at her questioningly. She smiled back at him and shook her head and let his hand go.

Then next morning Prachi continued to ignore Alaap's presence. She showered all her attention on Ritwik. Alaap, who had never really looked at the boy with endearment, suddenly started to notice how much Ritwik looked like him. But he wasn't about to get all fatherly now. He wanted to talk to Prachi. He had enough of this. He confronted her after breakfast when she was getting ready to leave. PL had told him about Prachi's wedding at the last moment and told him that Prachi didn't want him at the wedding. But he didn't care. He was determined to make her talk to him. If she was angry she could yell and scream at him all she wanted.

Prachi had tried to ignore Alaap as much as possible but now he stood in her way demanding attention just like he used to do before, she thought involuntarily. He was still the same, adamant brat. Finally when she had no other choice, she grabbed his arm and led him into his own room. She locked the door from the inside. During the time she was inside with him, Ramu kaka and PL knocked on the door a few times. But she sent them away because she still needed time. They were wondering why Prachi was locked inside with Alaap for so long when she had been ready to leave with Ritwik. After almost 2 hours Prachi opened the door and was about to step out when she heard Alaap saying, "I hate him". She turned around to see Alaap sitting on the floor by the bed, his eyes were red and he was angry. "I really hate him, Prachi". Before he could say anything further she had walked upto him and slapped him right on the face. "Don't you dare utter a word of ungratefulness against him Alaap", she warned him.
Alaap: "But why you Prachi..."
Prachi: "Maybe I am paying for your deeds Alaap"
Alaap felt the guilt trying to suffocate him. Alaap looked so vulnerable right now, Prachi wanted to hug her brother but she didn't. Because maybe this is what he should be going through.
Alaap: "Please Prachi can you sit for a little bit more? When will I see you again?"
Prachi: "No Alaap. You won't see me again. Not until you make right what you have done wrong. I don't care how but until Milind and Sukriti don't forgive you, neither will I."
Alaap had never been a man of faith. He had never given much thought to Gods and Karma and Fate. But today there seemed to be some truth to these matters. How could he ever make up for what was done. He could never undo it. He would never be forgiven. What could he do?

I know this part may also seem like i dragged but was necessary.
Leave your input. I greatly appreciate it.

Prachi: "Kaisi hai tu Anju?"How are you Anju

Anjali: "Mein first-class. Achcha sun Ok listen, mein vahaan hoon nahi isliye tujhe keh rahi hoon. I am telling you because I am not there myself Badi maa ko aaj chod ke mat jaana. Don't leave Badi maa alone today Mere baad agar Badi maa ko koi rahat de sakta hai toh voh sirf tu hai Prachi. After me if anyone can provide peace to Badi maa, its you. Aur vaise bhi Milind yahaan hai nahi. Besides Milind is not here. Unhe business ki vajah se Delhi jaana pada. He is on a business trip in Delhi."
Anjali: "Kya baat hai. Yaani ki ek ghamasaan yudh tal gaya?" Wow so a world war was avoided.
Prachi: "Kya?"What?
Anjali: "Mera matlab hai ke Alaap phir bach gaya marne se.I mean Alaap is saved from getting killed again. Voh hai na vahaan? He is there isn't he"
Prachi tightened her jaw. "Mujhe Alaap ke bare mein kuch nahi kehna". I don't want to talk about Alaap
Prachi: "Anjali ek baar phir se kaho"Anjali say that again.
Anjali: "Kya?"What?
Prachi: "Kuch nahi" Nothing.
saying, "Anju dinner pe kya logi" Anju what do you want for dinner. and Anjali had replied, "Kavya mein ghar phone kar rahi thi. Kavya I was calling home."
Neev: "Voh itne bure nahi the Ayesha" He wasn't so bad.
Ayesha: "Shayad..lekin mere saath toh bura hi kiya na." Maybe but what he did with me was wrong.[/code]

JC...beautiful part...first the playfulness of Prachi was beautiful...so heartfelt....I loved that...

I liked the fact that you truthfully said that Ayesha has the right to hate her father...i totally agree with you there...and she alone has the rite to hate him....Neev's understanding of it was beautiful...

The Alaap you are describing is way better than the one on screen..this alaap has some regrets and he loves his sister....

I liked the finality in prachi's words....She cannot forgive him till Milind and Suk have....and i think there is nothing for her to forgive...the person who has to forgive him is suk........

Very nice part! 👏

Another good chapter JC although it ended up throwing some more puzzles. It seems like you are gathering all the pieces of a jig-saw puzzle slowly but they are yet to be fitted in. So the picture is still hazy. I am sure you will fit them all in good time but the impatient woman I am, I feel a little restless at the end of it.

Prachi's deep feelings for Milsi can be seen even if she exhibited it in a cute manner. Wonder whether screen Prachi's dialogues at the courtroom during the divorce proceedings inspired this scene - you know touching his clothes and hugging his picture while sharing her thoughts. Anyway loved it. Wish Asha tai had heard and seen everything. Would have helped to clear the air when later Michi may have their misunderstandings.

I could'nt understand why Prachi has been so reluctant to send Ritwik to a regular school. I understand that he had a lot of health problems as an infant which affected his development. But now he appears to be pretty normal. Given that Prachi is portrayed as a selfless being, I dont think that she would have had any selfish motives to keep him back.

So has Anju moved in with Kavya? She seems to be another mystery girl. Whatever problems she had with Kavya (atleast that is what I thought she had when she wanted to desperately come back) seem to have vanished.

Neesha seem to have developed a certain level of comfort and Ayesha is able to share her thoughts freely with him - even if those thoughts involved her father. One always finds it hard to forgive one's parents for their failings as one ends up judging them more harshly than one would any other relative. This may be because the expectations from the children are that much more. Parents, on the other hand, are more able and willing to forgive their offsprings of their wrongs. And in the case of Ayesha, her entire life had been messed up by her father's failure to acknowledge his other family and grant them the much needed respect in society. The scars of that will take a long time to heal. It is good she has an understanding husband to see her through it. Now how long are we to wait before Neesha concretise their relationship with a physical union as the mental and emotional union appear to have already been achieved?

Coming to Prachi-Alaap interaction, looks like Prachi gave him a full rundown on the events that led up to her marriage with Milsi. But has she told him her past with Milsi? There appears to be some reason as to why she had put the condition that Milsi should not fall in love with her after marriage. It seems pretty strange considering that she is madly in love with him. Earlier you had ruled out the possibility that it had anything to do with her need to feel that she has to pay for her brother's sins and hence should not end up finding happiness in the marital arrangement between Milsi and her. Then what could have prompted that strange condition she imposed on Milsi? The reason I am racking that up now is I am wondering whether she had revealed that reason to Alaap and is that why he is angry at Milsi (I am presuming here that 'him' refers to Milsi).

Hmmm...... at the end of all this I am more confused than ever! Hope you sort out atleast a few of the puzzles before building some more!!!

Brilliant part JC. I could just visualise Prchi in Milind's shirt. It would have been dead embarassing if Asha tai had came in! 😆 Hmmm. Your still confusing us with Kavya and Anjali. Neesha scene was just so heartfelt. I'm glad that Ayesha has Neev with her now. Your Alaap is just so much more better than the one on scene. I'm glad he's feeling some remorse. How long is he planing on staying?

Lovely update hun! Thanks!
