NOTE: i rewrote this chapter.
Those who read it before, I have made changes to both Neesha and Michi track.

I apologize for posting something that i wasn't convinced with myself. Thanks to all of you for reading it still and being kind enough to say good things.

I hope no one wants to kill me for this. I'll make sure all my future chapters are going to be permanent before i post it.

Thankyou
JC

OK here is the redone Ch 30 part I

Chapter 30 – Old connections and Beginnings of new
dedicated to everyone who gave me honest criticisms.

He wasn't sure of the reason exactly but there seemed a new energy in him. It might have something to do with the fact that he had danced to his heart's content after so many years today. Or was it that he had danced with Ayesha or was it the way they had danced. It was definitely an erotic dance. There was crackling chemistry between them and he had felt it. He had felt it as the adrenaline pumped into his blood and he had felt it with the strength of her grasp on his body. He had seen it when they separated and her breathing was erratic, but she was staring straight into his soul and he had seen hers. He had seen her without the faade. He had seen Ayesha. The girl she was, the person, her fear, her possessiveness, and her exhilaration, her humanity. He had seen Ayesha; and all the incidences of the previous weeks came rushing to him. And putting it together, he now saw things more clearly.

When PL returned after seeing off Bobby at the airport, she had noticed the sudden uplifted spirits in Neev. She was pleasantly surprised but didn't question him. She was glad to see him like that, playful and happy. Later on Anjali had filled her in on what happened censoring certain details. PL was simply glad that things seemed to be heading the right way. She thanked God for sending Anjali at the right time. Only she could come up with crazy ideas and have the confidence to pull it off too. Now if only PL could know that all was well with Prachi too.

How had he failed to recognize her all these years. He had been a victim to her display of indifference. He saw what she wanted him to see. But today, they had been closer than ever before, not just physically. She had exposed herself during the dance and he had savored every glimpse of her. It was exciting for him, a new feeling too, the idea that she was the girl he had been searching for. She was simply perfect and he had failed to realize sooner. She too felt something for him, he was sure. But she would never say it. With his new found insight about Ayesha and the experience of dealing with her for the past 5 years, he felt confident that he would make her admit it one day, soon.

Ayesha was fixing the clothes in her closet. She was a neat freak and couldn't believe what a mess she had made while searching for that old CD. Now she was folding her clothes properly while thinking about the day. What had gotten into her? Why did she react that way. She had lived most of her life relatively detached from the things around her. But today she was out of control. She loved dancing but she always paid attention to the technicality of her moves. But today she had let the music flow through her body. She had let her body take control of her mind and she had let Neev take control of her body. How had she allowed that? But they had danced so well, so in sync. Her thoughts ended when Neev walked in whistling.

He opened the door and stood their with a shocked expression. "Wow, it looks like a storm hit this place" "I am cleaning it", she replied turning away from him.

Neev walked over to his bed while trying to judge Ayesha's current mood. He picked up some of her clothing from his bed and threw in her direction. "So where did you learn to dance like that?", he asked trying to erase the awkward silence. She answered after another few awkward moments, "Well, my aaya, Ruth was madly in love with Fernando, the guy who used to teach dancing and she would often go to his place after church and I'd end up going there with her. I'd watch them dancing and I got interested. Later I learned a few thing too."

Neev: "Wait a minute, is this place near the church you go to so often."

Ayesha was surprised that Neev knew which church she went to. "Yes, Fernando's dance school was near the church. Why?"
Neev: "Oh my God, I don't believe this. You're the girl who bit me."

Ayesha: "What?"

Neev: "Ya, you're the crazy girl in the black dress with huge white flowers who bit my hand off."

Ayesha: "What are you talking about…" But realization dawned her as she remembered the skinny little boy who used to come to Fernando's dance school with his little brother in glasses. She had bit him because he had made fun of her dress. "That was you?" she said equally intrigued that they had an old connection.

Neev: "My mom used to take me and Saket to the beauty parlor with her and we would get so bored that we decided it was more fun to spend the time in the dance school that was next to the beauty parlor. But I have to thankyou for that bite. I never made fun of another girl's dress after that day, no matter how hideous it was and that earned me quite a few kisses you know," he added laughingly.

Ayesha: "That dress was not that bad. And you are lucky I didn't kill you", she sounded offended.

Neev: "Don't even deny it. That dress was…" he trailed off when he saw the look on Ayesha's face.

Ayesha: "My mom made it." She turned again to put the folded clothes back.

What is wrong with me, Neev thought. Here he was trying to find out exactly what Ayesha felt for him, if she did anything and he was insulting her mother instead. Great job Neev. He started whistling again to ignore the unwelcome silence in the room. Then an idea struck him and he started to sing the words to the song, ofcourse completely off key.

(Dil Dhakda hai from U Me aur Hum)

Aankhon ke piyale… patiyale ambaale
Ek goonta jo pee le,
sala chadh jaaye sau maale,
Uss ne ghoor ke dekha toh..
Fadak fadak kuch fadka hai,
Mujko kachcha kha gayi,
Chonka hai na tadka hai…
Pehli baar hua aisa,
Dadhka nahi dil dhakda hai,

Ayesha was staring at him with the intention of eating him alive, especially since the third line of the song. "Tu yeh mavaliyon ka gaana kyun ga raha hai?", she questioned.

Neev: "Mavaali? Ayesha you are making fun of one of the best singers in India today. I am great fan, Ayesha and I won't let you insult him. Besides, you talk like this often don't you, in you chawl bhaasha. So what's your problem if I pick it up."

Ayesha was at a loss for words. Why did she even say anything. She was embarrassed as it is that Neev had noticed her staring in anger at him when he was with Anjali. And now he was rubbing it in her face. Ayesha's only escape was leaving the room so she did. She hoped Neev would just forget about the whole incident. Who was she kidding. They were in each other's face the next two weeks. Every single day, they would practice for the dance. Ayesha tried to avoid him as much as she can, focusing herself to the dance. But it was becoming increasingly difficult. She was a very private person and his constant presence in her personal space bothered her. She couldn't ignore him. But interestingly, she didn't dislike having him around either. And so the days passed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prachi was headed up to Milind's room. Asha tai had asked her to get dressed for dinner as she wanted them to go out tonight. The two of them had gone nowhere together after the wedding and it looked odd to Asha tai that a newly wedded couple seemed so distant from each other. Prachi couldn't say that she had adjusted well to the change in her lifestyle. She missed her home dearly. She missed her mom. But she also loved the fact that she was with Milind. No matter under what the circumstances, the fact that she saw him every morning when she woke up and every night before she went to sleep, gave her an unexplainable joy. She had often lay awake on the couch watching him as he slept. He never seemed at peace, even in his sleep. The five years had registered a weariness on that face and Prachi felt guilty thinking "this is my family's fault, Alaap's fault" and she would add as an afterthought "its my fault."
She came to the closet and mused over what to wear. She had a choice of three only, the three sarees that PL had brought for her during the wedding shopping. She never thought she would wear them, but Asha tai had suggested that she wear a saree. Milind had given Prachi a warning of sorts as she had entered the mansion for the first time as his wife. He had told her that Asha tai was family. He told her that she was free to do as she pleases as long as she never disrespects Asha tai and doesn't let her find out that they are not a happily married couple. It wasn't a hard task but sometimes Prachi felt that Asha tai was wiser than she let on. Prachi felt, strangely, that Asha tai was constantly trying to judge her every move. Was she trying to see if Prachi was worthy of being Milind's wife. Or did she suspect anything? The thought would put Prachi on edge whenever Asha tai was around. So she was careful not to offend the woman. Now she was worried about how she would manage to put a saree on. Anjali's words came back to her today. "I should have learned to put this damn thing on" she cursed as she grabbed a light blue saree from the corner.
She put the blouse and the petticoat on and pretty much wrapped herself a few times in the long cloth. But everytime she tried to make the pleats her hands would hurt and the pallu would come undone frustrating her. She threw the cloth on the bed and stared at it angrily pacing the room. She heard voices downstairs and guessed that Milind was here. She would have to put it on now she thought and hurriedly grabbed the saree again. Tucking one end on the petticoat and wrapping it around, she decided to hold the end of the pallu in her mouth instead of draping it on the shoulder since it came down everytime. Then she started to pleat for the 7th time and ignored the pain in her hand.
Milind was annoyed that he had to take Prachi out tonight. Asha tai had told him as soon as he came home. Had she informed him of this plan earlier, he would have stayed at work a few more hours. Asha tai shouted after him as he headed to his room, "Milind, Prachi se kaho jaldi tayyar ho jaye. Pichle ek ghante se kamre mein hi baithi hai." Women, Milind thought. Why did it take them so long to get ready, he was shaking his head. He opened the door to his room without much thought but regretted it immediately. Prachi stood there mortified at the intrusion and embarrassed and Milind just stared stunned. She had dropped the saree and ran into the bathroom. Milind still stared at the saree that lay on the carpet and tried to get the image out of his head. He turned and walked out angry that he didn't knock on the door, nor did he look away. But wasn't it her fault. She should have locked the door. But why did you stare, he blamed himself again. Where is your decency Milind? And why do you keep thinking about it again? He walked down and Asha tai asked him, "Kya hua Milind, voh tayyar nahi hui ab tak? Aur tumne kapde kyun nahi badle?" "Yeh theek hai tai," he answered absent mindedly.
Prachi came down a half hour later in a yellow salwar. Milind intentionally didn't look at her and headed out. She followed, hurrying to catch up to his pace. They drove silently to a nearby restaurant and ordered their dinner. Both were extremely uncomfortable and tried not to look at each other. Prachi didn't have much of an appetite and kept playing with the food. Milind however was very hungry but the sight of Prachi picking at the food made him loose his appetite too. And again his thoughts reverted to her image in the bedroom earlier. He was frustrated that he kept thinking about it. He excused himself to the restroom and splashed cold water on himself. "Stop it Milind" he told himself. Relatively calmer he walked out and paid the bill and they left silently.
Milind decided that the best way to distract himself was to listen to music and he turned up the volume as they drove back home. After the initial embarrassment of having stood half naked before Milind, she decided to pretend it never happened. That was the only way she would be able to stand in front of Milind again. But she caught Milind's gaze occasionally and the butterflies in her stomach would flutter again. She didn't know if it was a good thing that neither of them said anything or should they have cleared the air. But now as Milind concentrated on the road and turned up the volume to a painful level in the car, Prachi felt restless. Especially because she hated the song at this moment. It was 'Jee le' from the yet to be released movie U Me aur Hum. She grabbed Milind's ipod and stopped the song. If looks could kill, Prachi would have turned into ashes that very second. When Milind realized that his look wasn't going to kill her, he grabbed the ipod back and played the song again. "I don't like this song, Milind", she said over the loud music. But Milind ignored her and after a few moments pulled over. "Get out" he ordered. Prachi just looked at him unfazed. "This is my car, my ipod and I will listen to whatever music I like", he said clenching his teeth. Prachi didn't understand what got him so angry but she didn't say anything. He looked at her again and gripping the steering tighter, he started driving again. The rest of the ride was Prachi staring out the window and Milind driving with all his energies focused on the road and the steering wheel that he kept trying to hurt. In his anger he didn't even realize that his ipod lay silent in the car.
Those who read the earlier part II ...no need to read it again. This is the same except for the last two paragraphs are slightly changed.
Part II : Michi
Asha tai was waiting for them and informed Prachi that Ritwik was still awake. Prachi headed to Sukriti's room and Milind to his own. He had some work to do but he was too tired so decided to finish it the next day. He was taking off his shirt when Ritwik ran in with Prachi on toe. Ritwik jumped on the bed and insisted on sleeping there. He was making faces at Prachi when Milind said in a stern voice, "Ritwik neeche utro". He immediately stopped jumping but to both their surprise, Ritwik made bunny ears and stuck his tongue out at Milind. Milind lunged to grab the boy but he hid behind Prachi's body who was standing between him and Milind. And Milind ended up grabbing Prachi by the waist. Prachi fell back a little startled but Milind steadied her as he gained his own balance. Her heart skipped a beat as she found her hand resting on his bare chest. She removed it instantly.
But Ritwik who was still standing on the bed next to them pushed Milind's shoulders with his tiny hands and yelled, "Chodo, meri mummy hai." Milind let her go and addressed the little one. "Yeh teri mummy nahi hai," he corrected the boy. "Milind!" Prachi said in way to stop him. Ritwik hugged Prachi's neck from the back and said "Nahi, meri mummy hai", and again tried to push Milind while an amused Prachi watched.
Milind decided to tease the boy some more. He moved Prachi out of his reach, holding her by the shoulders and said, "Yeh teri mummy nahi, meri biwi hai." Prachi looked at him shocked as the word 'biwi' came out of his mouth, but Milind didn't register his own words. Ritwik got off the bed and hugged Prachi's legs "Yeh meri mummy hai." Milind again pulled him off her legs and said, "Nahi yeh meri biwi hai, you cannot hug her." Prachi stopped him. "Milind, bas karo. He is going to cry." She looked at Ritwik and said, "Main sirf aapki mummy hoon, theek hai. Maama ji mazzak kar rahe hain." She kissed Ritwik on the cheek and took him out of the room. After putting him to sleep in Sukriti's room, Prachi returned.
Milind had been thinking about Ritwik all the while. He realized that Prachi loved Ritwik a lot but the attachment between them was unhealthy. Ritwik needed to be a little more independent. Although he was joking before, he knew that it was important for Ritwik to know that Prachi is not his mother. When Sukriti gets better she would want him to recognize her as his mother. And that is the way it should be. He decided to talk to Prachi about it.
"Prachi, isn't Ritwik old enough to be in preschool. Why isn't he enrolled yet?" Prachi realized that Milind was trying to get Ritwik away from her.
Prachi: "Milind, Ritwik is not like other children. He has a developmental delay. You know that. Him being sick for so long is the reason for it. But he is catching up quickly. Still, he can't do a lot of things that other children his age can do. He is almost 5 now but some things he still does like a 3 year old. I can't send him to school with other 5 year olds and risk the damage."
Milind: "But if you don't let him be with other kids his age, how will he ever learn," he said frowning.
Prachi: "Milind, I don't want to keep him with me forever. I know that he'll go to school, soon. But I am going to make sure he is ready to face school before pushing him out the door. He is making good progress and within a year, I think he'll be well caught up and we can enroll him then. Till then he is going to learn at home."
With a finality in her voice, Prachi stepped into the bathroom to change and Milind went downstairs to his office.
When Prachi came back out she didn't see Milind. She took her blanket and got comfortable on the couch. But she couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about the evening. Milind had stared at her when she dropped the saaree. Why didn't he look away? "Besharam", she thought, and a tiny smile played on her lips as she remembered him calling her 'biwi'. Though he was joking and it was to a child that he claimed so proudly that she was his wife, it sounded nice. But slowly the smile disappeared as she remembered him trying to tell Ritwik that she is not his mother. She remembered again why they had got married. She wished that Sukriti would get better soon so that she could get out of this relationship that was threatening to rekindle the desires she had suppressed and forgotten. But a selfish part of her didn't want that either. Sadness ruled her eyes. When Sukriti gets better she would have to forego her relationship with Ritwik too. But that was an eventuality and she was going to accept it. There was no use of wishing otherwise.
Milind on the other hand, was unable to concentrate on his work. He was definitely attracted to Prachi, no doubt. He couldn't lie to himself. But at the same time there was a guilt in him. He couldn't understand how he was attracted to her. Didn't he hate her and her family. Hadn't he stayed away from the girls that threw themselves on him. He had successfully been immune to them. Then why did Prachi's proximity make him uncomfortable. It wasn't just a matter of her beauty. There was something that pulled at him when she was around. And the fact that they shared a room was seeming more and more problematic to him now. But he couldn't make her stay in another room either. He consoled himself, thinking that Prachi was a temporary adjustment in his life. She would not stay long. He would just ignore all unnecessary feelings.
With that thought, he walked to the cabinet in his office and opened it. He took out a bunch of papers carefully wrapped in soft silky black cloth. He contemplated opening it and reading one more time, but changed his mind. There was no use in holding onto a past that could never be part of his present or future. He would never look at it again. He shoved it back inside and strode back to his room. As he made it back, he admonished himself. Why had he gotten stuck in time? Milind Mishra, who fought with his destiny, fought with the world, who made it a goal to win against all odds, had lost only once in his life. He had lost to a mere arrangement of words and he still let that loss overpower him. He walked into the room and though he saw Prachi sleeping comfortably on the couch, he pretended to not notice how cute she looked and rolled himself onto the bed and closed his eyes, forcing himself to sleep.
I know i delayed this part unnecessarily. I'll make up for it with the next part. But after my exam on Wednesday.😃
Takhliya
[code] Translation:
Part I
"Tu yeh mavaliyon ka gaana kyun ga raha hai?", she questioned. Why are you singing this Mavali (meaning like road side romeos) type song?
"Milind, Prachi se kaho jaldi tayyar ho jaye. Milind, tell Prachi to get ready fast. Pichle ek ghante se kamre mein hi baithi hai. She's been in the room for over an hour"
"Kya hua Milind, voh tayyar nahi hui ab tak? What happened Milind, Is she not ready yet? Aur tumne kapde kyun nahi badle?" and why didn't you change? "Yeh theek hai tai," This is fine tai he answered absent mindedly.
The song "Dil Dhakda hai" is untranslatable😆😆😆 by me. Its something about the girl staring as is she would eat the guy alive
Part II
"Chodo, meri mummy hai." Leave her, she is my mom. Milind let her go and addressed the little one. "Yeh teri mummy nahi hai," She is not your mom he corrected the boy. "Milind!" Prachi said in way to stop him. Ritwik hugged Prachi's neck from the back and said "Nahi, meri mummy hai" no she is my mom,
"Yeh teri mummy nahi, meri biwi hai." She is not your mom, she is my wife
"Yeh meri mummy hai." She is my mom
"Nahi yeh meri biwi hai, no she is my wife you cannot hug her." Prachi stopped him. "Milind, bas karo. Milind, enough now He is going to cry." She looked at Ritwik and said, "Main sirf aapki mummy hoon, I am only your mom. theek hai.Ok Maama ji mazzak kar rahe hain. Your uncle is just joking."
Nice update...a well written part.
So Neev and Ayesha used to learn dance at the same school. Dance seems to be thing that is bringing them together.
Even after spending 2 weeks discussing each other's likes & dislikes these two duffers are still thinking about divorce 😕.
JC, now please bring back Michi in your ff. I am missing them 😭
JC!!!! How is it going?
Ok...first, chapter 29...I read it on Friday itself, but I had wanted to watch the dance clip before I commented. Its been 3 years since I saw the movie and so did not remember much and I am not too good at visualizing and so I decided I was going to watch the clip and that would help me to put in perspective your description of the dance....and I could not get to watch it till today, hence the comments are a bit delayed!!!!.........It was sizzling 😳!!!! More than the dance sequence, minute details such as Neev wanting her to look at him and then Ayesha meeting his eyes were bringing the passion on!!! I loved it!!!! And Ayesha feeling jealous.........I have no doubts in beleiving that!!! That is exactly how I perceived her!!! 😆 😆 😆
Chapter 30.............Again Neev and Ayesha!!! What else would I want??? 😍. I actually thought that wedding Anjali was talking about was a hoax, but it is not, huh? OK....honestly I expected there would be one more intimate interaction between Neev and Ayesha after the dance to kind of 'cement' the feelings that have started in them, and then a gradual sharing of things and talking etc because after reading this chapter it felt like while Neev was really falling for her, Ayesha was still on the edge and her idea of remaining friends after the divorce was 🤢 Because I was expecting that after this intimate scene between them, she was going to avoid the topic of divorce and not discuss it with him at all as it will leave her all flustered!!
But...but..that's my take on it..I am willing to be patient and see how you would like to tackle this issue! 😃
Loved them dear..........and will read whenever you post the next chapter!!! 😃
I should have warned you.😆😆 Sovvy i am mushy. I try to be more realistic with my next FF. Promise. But this one is a fairy tale.😆😆
And I'm STILL reading! Either you're extremely talented or I'm on marijuana (and it's NOT the latter)
lolz. If you ever come back to read my FF...i'll surely try to be less of a mushy writer.
Ayesha was fixing the clothes in her closet. She was a neat freak and couldn't believe what a mess she had made while searching for that old CD. LOL! That amuses me. U amused at Ayesha or me.😆Now she was folding her clothes properly while thinking about the day. What had gotten into her? Why did she react that way. Then she said changing her tone, "Well, my aaya, Ruth was madly in love with Fernando, the guy who used to teach dancing and she would often go to his place after church and I'd end up going there with her. I'd watch them dancing and that's how I learned." I'm worried that I'm smiling at this, its both really cute and really funny at the same time. lolz. haha...why you worried?
HA HAHAHA!! She bit him! LOL!
😆😆😆 yes she did. Well thats the kind of kid i imagined her to be.
tsk, tsk, Neev, take singing lessons, it'll impress Ayesha so much better :P😆 lolz ...shes impressed already. just doesn't like to show it.
Poor Neev, just spit it out already that you love her!
he won't until he is sure she does too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Neev and Ayesha performed a brilliant Argentine Tango It worries me that I read horizontal tango and spent the next 5 mins laughing...especially since its 4 in the morning 🤣
🤣🤣🤣Happens to me too when i read ffs that late.

I don't know if I should love you or hate you for not making me hate mushy.lolz. i am glad you don't hate it. This chapter is exactly what I DON'T read, but your writing is really good, and I ended up reading it, and wow holy mother of ff, it is good! Please continue, seriously, it's amazing. Thanx. Your comments mean a lot.
And now, I need to go sleep, so see you tomorrow with your next amazingly amazing part. =) See ya.
