Part 13:
As Milind walked out of the bathroom, after he had finished putting his clothes on, he looked around to see where Prachi was. As if on cue, she walked inside their bedroom, carrying the tray of tea again. "It got cold," she said shyly, with her attention fully on the tray instead of looking up at Milind, "so I went to warm it up again."
"Prachi," Milind stated exasperatingly, "You are supposed to be resting! You are still not 100% healthy yet." He was trying to act as if the uncomfortable situation which has taken place a few minutes ago had not happened at all. But it was no use, with every breath he took, he could still feel Prachi's aroma on his skin.
Prachi sat down near the coffee table, and started stirring in sugar into the cups. She still was too embarrassed to look up at her husband. "Okay," she stated softly, "I promise to rest, right after you drink your tea."
Milind ran his hands through his hair, and let out a chuckle, "Okay BABA!". He sat down across from Prachi, and they both drank their tea in complete silence. Neither of them said a word, but somehow, they both felt connected to each other.
"Does he love me?" thought Prachi.
"Why can't I get Prachi out of my mind?" thought Milind.
The silence between them was broken by the ringing of Milind's cell phone. Milind put his cup down, and grabbed his cell, which had conveniently been lying on the coffee table in front of him. "Milind Mishra speaking," he said with clear authority in his voice. Finally, Prachi looked up at him, to see why he was being called so early in the day.
"Kya? But I told Mr. Desmukh to go on that trip to Dubai. It is very crucial that we get that contract from Yasir Hussein!" Milind stood up and walked towards the window. Prachi could see visible frustration in his demeanor. "OH SHIT," Milind cursed, "Okay, I will be there in 20 minutes." Milind turned away from the window, and threw his phone down on the ground, in visible anger.
"Kya huwa Milind?," Prachi stood up and asked, "You seem really upset."
"Upset nahi honga to kya honga?!? Salaah Mr. Desmukh was supposed to go to Dubai to put the finishing touches on a 50 crores deal. But now his daughter just got in a serious car accident and he can't go! Now I have to go to the office and sort this mess out. I told them to not bother me for two weeks, but those idiots can't do anything right"
Before Prachi could even respond, Milind burst out of the room and ran down the stairs. As he was about to leave, Ayesha grabbed his hand. Prachi, standing on top of the stair case, saw the whole scene unfold downstairs.
"Milind! I need to talk to you!" Ayesha yelled, and she gripped on to the cuff of his shirt. Milind quickly broke away from her grasp.
"MILIND!" Ayesha yelled again.
This time, Milind, obviously in a rage, could not control himself. "Ayesha! Get the hell away from me! Don't you dare say one more word, because if you do, I swear, the result won't be good for you!"
Before Ayesha could even react to what Milind had said, he had ran off to his car and sped off.
Ayesha looked up and saw Prachi on top of the staircase, with a content smile on her face.
"What are you looking at Prachi Shah? Milind is my lover, and obviously lovers have these small fights once in a while. I am not upset, so why should you be happy? Tumhari kushi to meri dukh mein hain na?" yelled Ayesha.
Prachi really didn't care what Ayesha had to say. She was happy beyond words. Milind had not given in to Ayesha's demands. He had stood up to her. Prachi's heart was filling with hope. "Maybe," she thought, "there is something special between us." Instead of responding to Ayesha, Prachi simply walked away into her own bedroom to rest, and of course, to day dream about Milind.
***
It was 11:45pm and Milind still had not come home yet. Prachi looked out the window, and became extremely upset as she looked at the dark night, with clouds covering the moon. The rain was intense outside, and was even stronger than the night before. This unpredictable monsoon season had been resulting in tumultuous weather.
The whole family had been wondering where Milind was, and to put their minds at ease, Prachi had lied and said she had spoken to him. She lied and told them that he would be home late, because of some office matters. She had fibbed because she did not want them to be worried. Instead, she carried the stress and anxiety alone. Everyone, including Ayesha, was sleeping soundly, yet Prachi had not eaten since this morning, and could not even try to sleep unless she knew Milind was okay. She had not even changed into her nightgown; she was still wearing a light pink saree, that she had been wearing all day.
She had tried calling his cell phone several times, but the call never went through. She paced up and down her room, staring out the window every couple of seconds. She looked at the clock as it struck 12. She could not take it anymore. Where was he? Tears started trickling down her face. Not wanting to waste another minute, she grabbed her purse and car key and quietly walked down the stairs. Not hesitating a second, she walked out into the thunderous rain.
Prachi ran quickly to her car, and drove away from the mansion towards the Shah-Mishra offices. Since it was so late at night, as she pulled in to the office parking lot, she could not see anything. She was a little scared, but she was far more determined to find Milind, so her fear disappeared. She parked her vehicle, and stepped out into the horrible weather. She could not see anything. It was pitch dark. The rain was coming down fast and hard. The wind was picking up too now, and fiercely making sounds as it shook trees and made leaves fly everywhere. Prachi started walking towards the office, not realizing how wet she was. Her hair was soaked, and the top of her saree was practically see-through, revealing her light pink blouse, and slender waist. Prachi did not care.
Prachi continued walking, when all of the sudden somebody touched her shoulder from behind. Prachi let out a shocked gasp, and turned around to see who it was. She turned and saw that it was Milind, with an umbrella covering his head from the rain.
"MILIND!" Prachi whimpered, holding back tears.
"Prachi? What on earth are you doing here at this time of night?" Milind asked angrily.
Prachi could hold her tears back no longer. She started crying hysterically, and pounded her fists against Milind's strong chest. "Why are you getting mad at me?" she cried, "You didn't even call once! I was so worried. Why do you always do this?"
Shocked at her reaction, Milind instantly dropped his umbrella into the rain, and stood there in disbelief. "She came all the way out here because she was worried about me?" he asked himself silently in his mind.
Prachi looked up at Milind, and immediately moved her hands away from his chest, and took a step back. She had not realized the intensity of her reaction.
Milind looked at Prachi, completely drenched in water and sobbing hysterically. "Prachi…" he started to say something, but all of the sudden a huge gush of wind blew Prachi's pallu away from her body, and pushed her towards Milind.
Reacting instantly, Milind extended his arms, and grabbed his wife's waist, pushing her body close to his. "Sorry Prachi," Milind spoke into her ear, "I should have called. I got so lost in my work, and plus this heavy storm blew out all of our phone lines at the office."
Prachi looked up at him, "I was so worried," she wept, as she wrapped her hands around his waist. She placed her head on his chest for comfort.
"Worried?!" Milind asked funnily, trying to lighten up the mood, "Arrey mujhe kuch ho sakta hai kya? I am Milind Mishra after all! But guess what?"
"What?" asked Prachi.
"My car is not starting," Milind laughed, "so can you give me a ride home?"
Prachi laughed, "Okay."
"Actually no," said Milind.
"No?"
"You are still sick! I will drive your car home, and you will sit and enjoy," stated Milind. Prachi smiled, and nodded in agreement.
As Prachi was about to move away from Milind, and walk back to the car, they both noticed that her manglasutra was stuck in the buttons of his shirt. They both bent down at the same time to untangle it, and their heads collided gently.
"I'll do it," said Milind. He pulled Prachi close in again, by grabbing her from the waist. He put his hand between his chest and hers, and untangled her manglasutra.
He then did something that he had not planned on doing. But he has not been able to help himself. As Prachi was about to again, walk towards the car, he pulled her close again. This time, he placed one hand on her waist, and the other one behind her neck. As he did this, Prachi tilted her head backwards, exposing her neck. As her pallu waved freely in the air, still not against her body, Prachi found herself in a compromising situation.
Milind bent his head down, and met the soft skin of Prachi's neck. Prachi felt his trimmed beard hair against her neck. She now completely leaned her weight against his body. She then felt his lips sliding on her neck gently and slowly. It was unexpected, but something she had thought about all day. Milind's lips now quickly moved up from Prachi's neck to her chin. Prachi moved her head in closer to his, and moved her lips towards his. Then it finally happened. They both leaned in and his lips met hers.
Prachi felt a huge burst of passion and excitement, as she opened her mouth to allow him entry. She felt the warm sensation of Milind's tongue. Milind too was equally enthralled by the taste of Prachi's mouth, as he rocked his mouth over hers. She felt sweet and her taste was addicting. They held on to each other for minutes, letting their ardor for each other show. The more she clung to him, the more passionate his mouth grew. His kisses grew wilder, and he could feel her heartbeats getting louder. His hands moved into her hair, and his lips remained pressed to hers. For the first time in her life, Prachi found herself completely lost in the intensity of the moment.
They didn't care that they were standing in an empty parking lot, in the middle of a storm. They did not care that it was well past midnight. They didn't think about Neev, Ayesha or anyone else. This moment was about them.
Not wanting to waste another minute, Milind picked Prachi up in his arms, and walked towards the car, as she had her arms wrapped around his neck. They did not go home that night. Instead, Milind brought his wife to a 5 star hotel, for an unforgettable night.
