Part 70

Two months later

She stood in front of the full length mirror of their room the bath robe firmly tied on her slim form, she breathed in a deep lungful before slowly untying the cords of the robe and opened it slower still. What she saw was something beyond belief something she had yearned for a long time, the marks were all gone her skin was smooth and unblemished. Her lips trembled in wonder as she inspected herself in the mirror. She could not believe her eyes neither the magical transformation that had taken place. She heard the door click open hastily pulling the robe close she turned around to watch him saunter one look at her and he knew what she was upto. Reaching her he studied her face intently her eyes shining her lips pressed close longing to smile with happiness and new found confidence. He had pulled apart her robe and she had closed her eyes drawing in a deep breath as he studied her inch by inch thanking God she was all his. Sliding his arm around her waist he brought her closer to him bending lower he had placed tender kisses on her eyes, trailing his lips downwards to her supple mouth waiting for him. He had pressed against her lips gently at first the desire over whelming his senses as she parted her lips giving him deeper access. His hands had continued exploring her fine skin as she melted in his hold pressing closer to him her hands around his neck pulling him to her. As they had parted moments later he had caressed her cheek with love "Prachi ....khush to ho na?" Prachi are you happy? he had asked and she had looked up at him through starry eyes. "Buhut khush huun" Very happy a tear had rolled down her cheek which had been kissed away by him, he could see the gratitude she bore in her eyes for him. He had hugged her close then his chin resting on her velvet tresses "Tuu bhi na Prachi ..... yeh aansu teri ankhon main na aayein isi liye to yeh operation kerwaya hai." The tears don't grace your eyes was the reason we had this surgery done remember He was referring to the cosmetic surgery Prachi had undergone a month ago to remove all the marks and scratches from her body.

It was a costly expedition but Milind had appointed the best cosmetic surgeon Jane Whitehall to perform the surgery. He had been deeply pained when he had witnessed Prachi's torment on their wedding night. At times when she changed clothes she'd stare at her marks her mind flooded with agonizing memories of those disastrous incidents and Milind had found this the only solution to diminish her affliction. Pulling her apart he looked at her in silence for a long moment a sudden wave of desire had swept over him. Picking her in his strong arms he had walked over to the bed laying her down he quickly pulled off his clothes and in one smooth gesture did away with her bathrobe. She lay exposed shy but happy her cheeks flaming as she saw him gaze at her with love. He had touched her gently and had heard her moan contentedly he smiled as he kissed her on the lips deeply aroused. She had read his thoughts and had let him lead her on afterall wasn't that what she herself wanted. She felt love in it's complete form pulling him closer she had melted in his fiery embrace. His passion amalgamated with her desire she had chanted his name in extreme ecstasy as she felt him working moving sinking within her. Much later as he lay asleep beside her she had watched him fondly circling his cupid lips with her thumb pad she had kissed them gently her heart filled with appreciation and love for him. They had come to the States for their honeymoon also because Milind had wanted to get her surgery done and in the course meet his sister Sukriti who lived a happy life with her husband Saket and a year old son Saahir. Saket too owned a chain of motels in the Sates though he had inherited the business and now worked it in coordination with his brother who resided in Vegas. Prachi and Sukriti had soon become good friends Sukriti was immensely overjoyed to see that her bhabhi was not only beautiful outside but had a heart of gold too. She missed Preeti who had stayed behind Baba had not wanted her accompanying them as he knew that while undergoing surgery Prachi would not be able to take care of her.

Moreover he wanted Milind to spend some time alone with Prachi so that they could bond on a more intimate level and use the time together to understand each other better, these few days would prove pivotal in forming the base of their relationship. Their stay at Sukriti's house in California was short but memorable Saket had proved to be a wonderful tour guide. He had taken them picnicking at the Yosemite Valley famous for its glacially carved domes, and Sequoia National Park, home to the giant sequoia trees, the largest living organisms on Earth, and the deep freshwater lake Lake Tahoe. Milind and Prachi had enjoyed the time spent with Saket and Sukriti, Saahir was a bubbly young child who was trying to learn walking. After spending quality time with Sukriti Milind had taken Prachi to Norte in Portugal it was one of the most scenic places in the world and Milind had always dreamed of taking Prachi there with him. They visited the sunny beaches, seaside resorts and picturesque villages such as Caminha and Vila Nova de Cerveira. Also the scenic natural parks and mountain ranges, such as the Peneda-Gers National Park, the Montesinho Natural Park, the Alvo Natural Park and two World Heritage Sites: the Alto Douro Wine Region and the Prehistoric Rock-Art Sites in the Ca Valley. They reveled in the beauty of the rivers, waterfalls, vineyards and fertile plots combined with the ancestral monuments in urban centres. Spending a perfect month together nights were warm with passion running high between them Prachi had completely given herself to him. She had overcome her initial shyness and now actively participated in all the games Milind conjured up enticing her to new heights of love. One such night as they lay together Prachi had expressed her wish to bear his child and he had assented knowing full well that a woman felt complete after becoming a mother. "Per Prachi woh aa jayega to tuu mujh per tawajjah nahin deygi na" When the baby comes you'll forget me he had complained teasingly. "Kis ney kaha Milind aapki ehmiat kam ho jaayegi merey liye aap hamesha ehm raheingey ... hamesha" Who says I'll forget you.. you'll always be the most important person for me.. always she had assured him placing his hands on her heart and he had laughed. "Mazaq ker raha tha" I was joking he had cajoled her showering kisses on her exposed arms and back as she lay pressed to him. "To kiya khayal hai koshish kerni chahiye na" So what do you think should we try? he had grinned impishly guiding her hands down his chest when she had nodded shyly helping him make her dream come true.

Ali and Sapna had journeyed to Goa where they had stayed in a hotel putting up her apartment for sale. The monetary assets her mother had left for her had been transferred in her Mumbaii account also the money from the sale of her house. The trip was short as Ali could not afford a longer break from his workshop he had been planning of buying another garage too and to cut the deal he had to be present there. Ali's mother had been left in the care of Premlata who had promised to look after her in their absence. After her return from Goa Sapna had buried her past behind her all that she held dear was lost and to her life held no joy. She toiled on with her daily chores like an automaton taking care of Ali's mother and his house in his absence. She had lost all sense of time and space now confined in her own little world. Though she never neglected her duties towards Ali or her mother in law, she had formed a special bond with the elderly woman who guided her about the different aspects of life. Often she would sit oiling her hair or massaging her tired legs listening to stories of Ali's childhood pranks in their chawl. Ali and Sapna had fallen in a routine he would wake up at five each morning after saying his morning prayers he would read a part of the Holy Quran and at the end of it pray for forgiveness and his family's happiness and well being. He would then go for a quick jog returning at seven by then Sapna would awaken freshening up she would prepare their breakfast and after exchanging a few words Ali would leave for work. He would not return till late at night while during the day Sapna cooked, washed and cleaned. Ali had allowed her to pursue a career if she desired but Sapna did not wish to leave her frail mother in law at the hands of a servant. She had come to love her as her own mother and felt immense satisfaction by just being near her. Her mother in law had treated her like her own daughter often talking gently to her combing her tresses as she lay with her head in her lap... she felt blessed. The holy month of Ramadan had started and even though Ali had not asked her to Sapna would awaken early at five in the morning to prepare sehri (Morning meal taken before commencing the fast) for him. She would not eat throughout the day too since the other two family members would be fasting. "Sapna tum to kha liya kero" Sapna please eat your meals Ali had scolded her when he came to know of her actions "acha nahin lagta" don't feel like it she had replied. "Kiya acha nahin lagta Sapna hum roza rakhtey hain tum to nahin tum per kaisi paabandi" what do you mean by that we are bound by obligation you are not so don't skip meals he had inquired highly irritated. He noticed Sapna had grown weak and silent that was certainly not what he wished her to be.

Though Sapna had forgotten he hadn't that Diwali was fast approaching and had bought a burgundy saree for her adorned with intricate stonework. Handing it to her he had reminded her "Tumney diwali key liye kuch khareeda nahin iss liye mainey socha main hii ley jaun." You never got anything for Diwali so I thought I'd buy it for you He had wanted her to forget her past and start life anew yet what he did not comprehend was that each new day dawned a different aspect of his remarkable nature to her making her feel shameful of her past deeds. She felt misplaced in his life and wondered how patient and caring he was never chiding her, bearing her disregard in silence. Sometimes she wished he would shun her, get angry at her but he never did even if she made blunders. The first meal Sapna had cooked was a disaster, she had never been fond of cooking and loathed it. But here her mother in law was not in a position to dedicate herself to the culinary task being an asthma patient the heat and the vapour got to her making her cough and lose her breath. Ali had made breakfast the first day at their apartment he assumed she knew how to cook directing her to the kitchen showing her the contents different cabinets held and had then left to work. That night he had returned ravenous only to find a lentil soup that had enough water in the name of gravy to feed the entire neighbourhood. Though inexperienced at the skill Sapna had attempted to make rice which had turned a musty brown at the edges. She had tried to cook asking Premlata for instructions over the phone but her lack of knowledge in the field had proved catastrophic. One look at her face and Ali had known she had prepared the food and now feared his wrath. He had not uttered a single word and had proceeded to eat the bland meal stopping her from following suit. She watched astounded as he finished his share and helped her clear the plates he had left then returning shortly with a dinner comprising of vegetable curry and rice for her. "Yehi laana tha to phir woh kyun khaya jo mainey banaya tha" If you had to go get this why did you eat the food I had cooked she had inquired confused at his behaviour. "Woh tumney banaya tha merey liye, nahin khata to dukh hota keh tumhari mehnat ka kuch sila haasil nahin hua or yeh tumharey liye hai kyunki woh tum kha nahin paogi" You had cooked that for me, if I wouldn't have eaten it I would've felt hurt thinking your hard work was not rewarded. This I bought because I know you won't be able to eat that and Sapna's eyes had clouded. He had then proceeded to feed her when she insisted he have some he told her he had dined already. He had jotted down a few recipes he knew for her writing in detail the time and content required for each one also the procedure to be followed and had handed them to her for her help.To Sapna Ali had gradually become someone she respected and felt for, what though was the big question. There were times when she wished she could bare her heart to him and ask him why she felt that way what was it that had changed in her. She tried in vain to keep him happy but everytime his eyes met hers she had a glimpse of the distinct yearning they bore for her. It was not that she did not acknowledge his love it was only that she dreaded him being brutally snatched away from her like the other people in her life she had mistaken to love.

Four months later

Milind sat poring over his files while Preeti watched cartoons on the plasma in the hall Baba had returned from his walk after dinner and had taken a seat beside Milind. "Preeti chalo soney" Preeti come lets sleep Premlata had called the little child who sat transfixed watching Tom chase Jerry onscreen. "Nayii nani" No nani she had shaken her head vigourously in the negative sidling towards her father's legs relaxing on them for support. Milind had gestured Premlata to let her be who had smiled seating herself beside him. As expected by them Preeti's eyes had drooped and soon she was slumped against Milind's legs in a deep peaceful sleep. Prachi had emerged from the kitchen finishing her chores and had wanted to pick up Preeti when Premlata had stopped her filling the child in her arms. "Maa aap ney to iski puuri zimmedari ley lii" Maa you've taken up all her responsibility she had complained watching her mother pat her slumbering daughter. "Kiya kerun tum to itni choti rahi nahin iss liye ab saara pyaar isskey liye hai" What can be done you've grown big enough now it's her time to get all my love Premlata had smiled walking away to her bedroom with her grand daughter. Later that night when Milind had wrapped up his work and joined Prachi in the bed he felt she was tensed rather impatient as she kept glancing at the wall clock. She had not let him drift off to sleep engaging him in senseless talk about her trip to the mall and the different sarees she picked up that day. "Prachi seedhay seedhay bata kiya baat hai buhut ho gaya tera natak" Prachi tell me whats up with you I've had enough of it he had questioned clasping her hands in his own. "Aapko naatak lag raha hai main aapsey shopping discuss ker rahi thi mujhey kiya pata tha aap khafa ho jaayeingey jaaiye nahin batati aapko" You think this isn't serious here I was telling you about my shopping and you'r least interested. Fine I'm not sharing anything with you now she had replied hurt at his comments and he had laughed. "Yaar kitney din ho gaye tuu naraaz nahin hui na mujh sey iss liye, malum hai tuu kitni khubsurat lagti hai ghussey main bilkul tamatar lagti hai" It had been long since you had blown your fuse see how beautiful you look just like a tomato he had teased her lovingly his hands working at her gown's silken strings when she had tapped his fingers briskly. "Koi zarurat nahin mujhey makhan lagaaney kii" No need to butter me she had tightened the strings again feigning ire. "Acha chal subah tujh per makhan laga ker kha jaunga... waisey bhi bread per to roz hii makhan lagata huun na" From tomorrow I'm gonna eat you with butter breads become boring he had winked naughtily at her tickling her tummy making her laugh hysterically. As she composed herself Milind had watched her fondly he just couldn't get enough of her even after six months in their marriage it felt as if it was just yesterday that she had entered his life as his bride. The clock had struck twelve and Prachi had smiled at him bending towards him she had gently kissed his full lips surprising him "Happy Birthday dear husband. Sorry aapko itna bore kiya per main chahti thi aapki birthday per sab sey pehley main aapko wish kerun" Sorry I bored you but I wanted to be the first one to wish you she had informed him leaving him stupefied.

"Tujhey yaad tha" You remembered? he had questioned huskily and she had nodded in the affirmative. Cradling her in his arms he had graced her soft face with copious kisses. "Mera gift" My gift? he had inquired in mirth and she had smiled shyly. "Hai to per deney main waqt lageyga" Well I have it but I'll need time to give it she had whispered. "Kyun kiya khud banayegi beth ker" Why you'll make it yourself or what he had joked making her blush "Haan" Kind of she had replied. He looked at her quizzically not understanding her mysterious answers "Kahaan hai Prachi bata na" Where is it Prachi tell me he had requested. "Yahaan" Here Prachi had lifted his palm guiding it underneath her gown laying it on her stomach. Milind had felt her body heave beneath him his hand advancing up on her velvet skin. As realization dawned Milind's eyes had shone like newly lit candles "Sach Prachi" Really Prachi he had questioned softly and she had hugged him in response breathing in his masculinity that emitted off him strongly. "Thanks Milind aapney mujhey aaj poora ker diya... maa banney ka ehsaas kitna khubsurat hota hai mainey aapki wajah sey jaana" Thank you Milind for completing me. Being a mother is such a wonderful feeling and I've come to know it because of you she had whispered in his ear. He had felt as if the heavens had showered him with all their riches his beautiful wife was pregnant with his child what more could he ask for from God. Releasing her he had tenderly kissed her forehead "Yeh to sab sey acha gift hai merey liye" This is the most wonderful gift you could've given me he had smiled gazing at her amorously. "Per main kuch or bhi laayi huun" But I've got something else too she had told him reaching for a wrapped slim box in the drawer she handed it to him. Opening it he found it contained a Tag Huer watch with his name spelt on the coal black dial in diamonds "Thanks" he had smiled kissing her longingly on the lips. "Per eik gift abhi bhi baaqi hai" There's one gift that still missing he had advanced towards her gown once again helping her out of it "Konsa gift" Which gift? she had questioned innocently gasping in pleasure as his hot lips kissed her sensuously. He had not let her ponder more making her feel intense craving for him as he worked artistically on her body creating a master piece with his mouth. It had always been him making the first move tonight he desired it to be her and so had aroused her senses peaking them till she could bear it no longer. She lay breathing hard anticipating further action but he had stopped just then "Milind" she had whimpered visibly upset. He hadn't responded yet lay watching her intently his eyes asking her to do the needful, Prachi certainly had reached a point of no return and tonight she was ready to grant her husband his birthday gift. With nimble hands she took off his apparel taking his hand in her own she had made him trace her body with it and finally had kissed him deeply on the lips. When Milind still did not comply she had tenderly bit his ear lobe. By the time she was finished enticing him Milind was laughing at her innocence. She in her opinion had done her best and now lay highly embarrassed at not being able to fulfill his expectations turning her face away disappointed in herself when he had rolled her back to him. "Ho gaya!" Done! he had mocked making her redden and had proceeded to show her what she was capable of doing taking her to new heights of passion. As she lay panting in his hold some time later blissful after a scintillating union he had kissed her with love. "Mujhey nahin malum tha meri wife itniii sexy hai" I never knew my wife was so sexxyy!! he had grinned and she had buried her face in his chest kissing it softly. "I love you" she had whispered more to herself than to him but he had listened "I love you too" he had told her pulling her close enjoying a truly momentous birthday gift..... his wife near him. Placing his hand on her stomach he had slowly drifted off to sleep..

The next day they had celebrated his birthday at home as Milind avoided parties Prachi had baked him a chocolate cake Ali and Sapna had been invited too. Milind had then informed his family about the gift Prachi was going to give him in exactly seven months while the rest of the family had congratulated a shy Prachi Sapna had gazed on dazed. Earlier that morning Saadia had called after exchanging pleasantries she had narrated to Sapna that she would be becoming a maami (aunt) soon. Sapna had congratulated her and handed the phone to Ali who had expressed immense joy over the news. Sapna had felt saddened to see that both the other woman married along with her had gone ahead with their lives while she stood at the same point where she had started six months earlier. Her relationship with Ali if not deteriorated had not progressed either. He had tried his best to make her feel comfotable love her but she had not given heed to any of his advances. They led a platonic existence, the fervor she used to see in Ali's eyes for her gradually diminished and died. It was not that he didn't care for it was just that he had resigned to his fate, accepted the fact that he was meant to lead life as a celibate devoid of any passion from his wife. They did the necessary activities watched movies, went out for dinners, sightseeing and social events but there was a heavy silence that followed them everywhere. Ali had wanted to share the world with her yet she had found a new world of solitude where she lived in constant agony. As they returned home that night and prepared to sleep Sapna had decided to talk to Ali they could not keep living like strangers forever. "Ali" she had addressed him trying to focus her thoughts. He had looked up at her questioningly. "Aap duusri shaadi ker lain.... aapkey mazhab main to ijaazat haina eik sey zyaada kii" Ali why don't you marry someone else... it's allowed in your religion to marry more than one woman she had said in one go atleast now he could live a content life with another woman. Sapna had given this idea a lot of thought she understood even if at some point they did get together it would be a fruitless exercise as she had already been proved barren by the doctors. She could not let Ali fret in misery at her expense, he was entitled to living a proper life complete with a wife's love and care and the happiness of being called a father which he could never achieve if he stayed with her.

Ali stood stunned shaken to the core his shock was replaced with anger soon. His eyes blazing he walked slowly upto her holding her by her arms he made her look at him. "Acha shaadi ker luun kiss sey... larki bhi dhund lii hogi tumney" Oh really I should get married... to whom I'm sure you must've found the perfect girl too he had asked her in an icy tone she could understand the idea hadn't appealed to him feeling his hands exhert pressure on her arms. "Aap meri wajah sey" Just because of me she had started when he had gone mad with fury "Tumhari wajah sey kiya haan.. kiya... aaj tak iss rishtey main sirf tum rahi Sapna sirf tum. Tumharey liye kabhi hum nahin they sirf tum" What because of you haan ... what. its always been about you in this relationship there never was an us he had shaken her hard making her gasp in fright. "Kabhi socha tumney tumhari iss soch sey iss bartaav sey mujh per kiya beet ti hai..." Did you ever think how I feel with this attitude and behaviour of yours he had released her then his eyes going misty raking a heavy hand through his hair he burnt in rage. "Tumharey liye sirf tum ho tumhara ateet, tumhara pyaar, tumhara bacha or tumhara dard kabhi eik baar bhi merey baarey main socha Sapna. Eik pal ko bhi jaana tum sey duuri mujh per kitna sitam dhaati hai, phir bhi iss aas main jii raha huun keh kabhi to tumhain tumhari iss duniya main merey honey ka ehsaas hoga." For you its always been your past, your love, your child and your pain did you ever once think about me Sapna. Even for a moment did you think what it feels to me to stay away from you living in a hope that someday you might realize that I start existing in your world. Sitting down on the bed Sapna watched him aghast she had thought her suggestion would consider him to rethink about their marriage and help him move on in life but it had proven quite the opposite. He loved her with the same intensity he had displayed at the time he had married her "Kiya socha tumney Sapna, Prachi or Saadia maa ban gayeen to tum peechey reh gayi, shaadi sirf bachey paida karney key liye nahin kii jaati Sapna. Shaadi main do log miltey hain unki aatmayein jurti hain. Sangam sirf jismon ka nahin dilon ka hota hai per tumhain kiya khabar kis ka dil kitna dukha." What did you think Prachi and Saaia reached motherhood and you lagged behind. A marriage is not just for producing children. Two people meet in a marriage its not just bodies that unite rather their souls and hearts but what would you know how bad you hurt someone's heart. It was Sapna's turn to be astounded she stared at him in surprise as he carried on heart broken. "Kiya tum aaj bhi Shashank se" Do you still think about Shashank he had watched her intently "Ali!" she had remarked in retaliation and he had smiled in hurt. "Chubta haina jab koi ilzaam lagata hai, ghalat sochta hai, aapki neeyat per shak kerta hai" he had remarked in a scathing tone. "Mujhey bhi dard hota hai Sapna jab tum merey pyaar per iss dil key har ehsaas per shak kerti ho sirf iss liye keh tumhain khud per yaqeen nahin" I too get hurt Sapna when you doubt my love my faith my thoughts just because you don't have faith in yourself his eyes had spilled hot tears then which he had wiped away mercilessly. "Main khuda nahin insaan huun Sapna or takleef main to pathar bhi ro pertey hain tum ney to mujhey kisi qaabil nahin chora..... iss sey behter hai keh main mar jaun or tum mujh sey azaad ho jao kyunki jeetey jii to main nahin chor sakta na tumhara saath na tumsey pyaar". I'm not God I'm human and when in pain even mountains cry. You've not left me capable of feeling or thinking anything ... I hope I die so that you may be free of me because as long as I live I cannot stop loving you or being with you. Picking up his bike's keys he had walked out of the house leaving Sapna to burn in her self created hell.

Part 71

Ali had not returned the entire night neither the following morning what had come instead was a phone call from City hospital where he was brought minutes earlier. "Aap Mrs Khan baat ker rahi hain?" Is this Mrs Khan? the man had inquired "Jii" Yes she had answered perplexed she hadn't been able to close her eyes for even a fraction of a second for the whole night, she had hoped it would be Ali on the phone. "Aapkey husband ka accident ho gaya hai, aap jitni jaldo ho sakey City hospital aa jaaiye" Your husband has had an accident please come to City Hospital immediately with that the phone had dropped silent. Sapna had felt her world crumbling around her, it could not be happening. "Iss sey to behter hai main mar jaun or tum mujh sey azaad ho jao" It's better that I die and you are freed of me his words the previous night came rushing back to her, what if God had granted him his wish. Her hands shivered as she dialled Milind's number who had received her call in alarm since it was only seven in the morning. "Sapna kiya hua?" Sapna what happened? he had asked when she had informed him about Ali's accident amidst sobs. Instructing her to get ready he had clicked the phone shut, his anxious voice had awoken Prachi who had volunteered to go fetch Ali's mother back home it was obvious Sapna would be in no condition to take care of her. Getting dressed both of them had left informing Kaka about their destination. Once at Ali's apartment Milind was devastated to see Sapna sit crying Prachi had consoled her "Kuch nahin hoga bhaiyya ko Sapna woh theek hongey" Nothing will happen to Ali he'll be fine she had told her handing her shoes to her. Milind and Sapna had then driven to the hospital asking for an accident case admitted earlier that morning. Both were guided through narrow passages to an ICU unit where Ali lay splattered in blood his robust form bandaged and unconscious. "Ali!" Sapna had murmured tears soaking her face Milind had asked the doctor about Ali's condition who had informed them of it being critical. He had received several injuries though it was his forehead that had been bruised deeply the wound wasn't large but if Ali failed to gain consciousness at the end of twenty fours he would slip in a coma. The news was baffling even though Milind hadn't wanted Sapna to be enlightened about it the doctor remained adamant considering it important as she was his wife. "Doctor main kuch nahin jaanti inhain theek kero doctor, merey Ali ko theek kero please" Doctor I don't know anything just make him better she had pleaded to the doctor who had shrugged his shoulders helplessly. "I'm sorry Mrs Khan but at this point all you can do is pray and wait" saying so he had left to tend to another patient. Milind and Sapna had then went inside to check on Ali who appeared to be sleeping peacefully his bruised face seemed content his eyes puffy and swollen. Sapna had sunk on the stool beside his bed taking his hand in her own she had showered it with tender kisses. "I'm sorry Ali I'm so sorry jaag jaayiye Ali main aap ko kabhi naraaz nahin kerungi... kabhi nahin" I'm sorry Ali wake up... I'll never hurt you again.. never she hiccuped uncontrollably.

It was a sad sight for Milind who had never believed it coming to this why his friend... of all the people in the world. He wiped away his own tears before assuring Sapna "Sapna tumhara qasur nahin accident tha" Sapna it's not your fault it was an accident he had tried to assuage her. "Nahin bhaiyya yeh sab meri wajah sey hua hai" No bhaiyya it's all because of me she had cried in misery. "Aaj tak main inhain koi khushi nahin dey paayi hamesha inhain dukh diya kabhi inhain nahin bataya in sey kitna pyaar kiya hai mainey. Darti rahi keh meri kaali qismat in per bhaari na parey or aaj dekhiye na yeh sab ho gaya... meri wajah sey" I've never given him any happiness always hurt him. I kept fretting over my ill fate afraid that it might effect him and look what I have done now all this has happened because of me she could not help but blame herself for her husband's condition. "Sapna sanbhalo apney aap ko" Get a grip of yourself Sapna Milind had tried to alleviate her agony but had failed as she simply would not stop crying. Holding her by the shoulders Milind had made her stand straight "Roney sey kuch nahin hoga Sapna... kuch nahin. Aaj tak Ali ney himmat nahin haari tumharey liye, tumharey pyaar key liye... mera dil kehta hai ussey kuch nahin hoga.. kuch bhi nahin" You'll achieve nothing by crying. Ali never faltered in his decision his faith and love for you... my heart tells me he'll be fine the conviction his voice bore made Sapna listen to him. "Unhon ney mujh sey vaada kiya tha mujhey chor ker nahin jaayeingey Milind bhaiyya" He promised me he won't leave me ever she had told him her face wet her eyes red rimmed and Milind had hugged her patting her head gently. "Kuch nahin hoga usse Sapna tera bhai ussey kuch nahin honey dega." Your brother won't let anything happen to him Milind had then left to call home asking Prachi about Ali's mother who had safely reached Mishra house Prachi had informed him that she would be joining them at the hospital soon. Twenty minutes later Prachi had come searching them and was immediately teary eyed to see Ali's battered condition. Nonetheless she wiped away her own tears hastily embracing Sapna who sat silent her eyes dripping in remorse and unfathomable torment. If only she could get one chance to talk to him she would tell him how much she loved him and never wanted them to stay apart. It had been foolish of her to think she could live without him because today it had been proved as a certain and profound truth that she couldn't. She had loved him always what she felt for Shashank was nothing compared to the ache that tugged her heart every time her eyes lifted to his. She had always loved him but had been too cautious and afraid to admit it to even her ownself. Embracing Prachi she had sobbed hysterically and Prachi had soothed her tenderly "Kuch nahin hoga bhaiyya ko Sapna kuch nahin" Nothing is going to happen to bhaiyya Sapna. The minutes ticked away as hours despite countless efforts on their parts both Milind and Prachi had failed to make Sapna eat a morsel or drink a single drop of water she sat mutely unmoving her heart chanting prayers. She had never been religious never prayed to God but today she wanted to. She recalled one occasion when she sat beside Ali hearing him read his daily prayers finishing them he had prayed fervently his eyes closed hands opened in profound faith. "Ya Allah mujh per rehm farma, mujhey dil ka sukoon ata ker Sapna ko uss ki khushian or hum sab ko teri rehmet" Dear God bless me grant me peace of heart, Dapna her happiness and all of us your blessings as he opened his eyes he saw Sapna gaze at him enthralled. "Aap itna yaqeen kaisey ker letey hain apney rab per keh woh aapki har baat suneyga" How do you harbour the faith that your God is going to listen to you? she had asked curious to know the reason for his poignant belief in God. "Woh to sab kii sunta hai bas hum hii nahin maangtey warna mera rab to bara meherbaan hai kabhi maang ker dekhna Sapna yaqeen kero jo maangogi uss sey zayaada hii paaogi, bas eemaan key saath maangna. Yaqeen mukammal or neeyat saaf ho to rab muajzey ker deta hai... jo bhi maangna dil sey maangna" He listens to everyone its just that we fail to ask else He is generous and noble. Try asking sometime I promise you'll receive twice of what you ask for. The thing is you must ask with complete belief and a clean heart you'll see miracles then he had smiled and she had handed him his tea quite amazed at his steadfast belief in God. Sapna had suddenly felt the need to pray to Ali's God Ali had loved him with all his heart never faltered in his prayers never once doubted Him, He had to help Ali... He simply had to. She had stood up with new found strength and determination explaining to Prachi that she needed to be someplace important she had sped home.

Once there she had taken out the mat Ali used for his prayers. Seating herself on it she had bowed her head infront of his Lord crying hot tears of repentance she had accepted all her mistakes and sins and asked for forgiveness. "Mujhey maaf ker dey, mujhey maaf ker dey merey gunahon kii saza Ali ko mat dey unhain to tujh per khud sey zyaada yaqeen hai. Ali kehtey hain tuu sab ko deta bas maangney kii der hai aaj main maang rahi huun merey Ali ki zindagi unki khushian unka saath.... mujh per rehm ker dey mujhey Ali dey dey... dey dey!!" Forgive me for my sins don't make Ali pay for my blunders, he believes in You more than in Himself. Ali says that you provide everyone who asks of You. I'm asking You today for Ali's life, his happiness and his companionship. Give me Ali... She had not known how long she stayed in that position shedding tears of sorrow, fear, pain and love. She had prayed for the one man who meant the world to her to One who meant the life to him. Tired exhausted and distressed she had cried herself to sleep sometime later she felt as if Ali stood near her. Holding her face in his hands he had smiled at her "Sapna!" he had called and her eyes had flown open. "Ali!" she had exclaimed only to find herself lying on the mat in her house the clock showed four in the afternoon she had fallen asleep. Berating herself she quickly wrapped up the mat splashing her face with cold water wiping it clean she had exited the house locking it after her on her way to the hospital. At the precise moment that Sapna had envisioned Ali calling her he had gained consciousness. God certainly had listened to her honest pleas and had forgiven her sins granting her all that she had desired because she had prayed with a pure and untainted heart with a pious will. Reaching there she was greeted by an anxious Prachi who had informed her that Milind had gone to fetch the doctor as Ali had gained consciousness. Happy tears dropped from her eyes as she heard the celebrated news bracing herself to meet her husband she had entered the ICU to find him resting. She had gone ahead and planted a soft kiss on his bandaged forehead. He had opened his eyes to see her stand beside him eyes swollen lips quivering she didn't understand how to express her elation at seeing him wide awake. He was exhausted and couldn't keep his eyes open much longer closing them shortly after and Sapna's heart had missed a beat he was still angry at her. Fresh tears graced her cheeks as she took her seat on the stool beside him she would've talked to him but just then the doctor had returned with Milind and was soon checking him. By the time the doctor had finished monitoring his pulse and blood pressure the nurse had wheeled him away for some necessary tests. The next few days were frenzied as the entire Mishra and Shah clan was present at the hospital on and off Sapna never got a chance to speak to him alone. By the time the daily visitors left he would be sedated and would lie asleep while Sapna would shed tears in silence gazing at him lovingly massaging his wounded hands and feet. She had thanked God for listening to her prayers. After much thought she had decided to convert to his religion the peace her heart bore had been due to him had it not been for Ali she would never have found God. Ali had stayed in the hospital for a week his wounds had greatly healed by the time he was discharged though one of his legs was still badly injured and he was advised complete bed rest. Sapna had come to know through Milind that the night he had left home he had gone to his garage. Staying up he worked all night on one of the jeeps at his workshop that morning he had taken it out for a test drive. What he had not known though was that the car's brake oil had finished up and the brakes were not in working condition. He was an expert driver and would've made it back home but he was stuck in a narrow lane with a school van approaching him. In an attempt to avoid collision he had to swerve his car in one of the by lanes crashing in a tree. The collision was hard he had been squashed between his seat and the mangled engine that had been caved in by the force of the crash. Some generous souls nearby had rushed him to the hospital one of them had checked him for identity where they found his ID card and driver's license. Calling Sapna up from the hospital they had informed her before leaving. One of them had stayed behind to get him bandaged and cared for taking leave after meeting Milind who had thanked him countless times for his kind deed.

The accident had rendered Ali weak his wounds though healed to a considerable extent still ached on stress he had been discharged from the hospital and Milind had driven him home. Throughout his stay at the hospital Sapna had been by his side not leaving him for even a moment the dread she had undergone of him deserting her every single day after their marriage had taken life when she had been informed of Ali's accident. The cold consternation that had gripped her insides when she had seen him lie bandaged and still on the hospital bed had taken firm root in her heart. Each time she ventured to sleep her eyes would snap open with the thought of losing Ali and she would sit up firmly, rigidly rather to keep herself awake. As if not sleeping would help her keep Ali safe, ensure that he was there infront of her eyes. Ali had understood her presentiment but had considered it best to let her face her fears it was time she made decisions on her own. He had tried to make her feel wanted, be a part of his life but it had all failed. The wall Sapna had built around her was concrete and Ali had given up hope of ever pulling it down. But the accident had reinforced his belief that there still was a faint possibility of Sapna accepting the reality. Accepting him as a part of her life no matter how minute. That night he lay on the bed his arm across his brow his body was sore the cuts were still bandaged. Inspite of the throbbing pain he had never let Sapna guage the extent of his misery. He had found her eyes ever searching, vigilant, alert as if awaiting recognition yet he did not wish to burden her with the added weight of his throes. Her past had been terribly painful as it was. Him enlightening her with his own sorrows would only serve to aggravate her melancholy and that would mean him dithering in his resolve to keep her happy always. He had closed his eyes wearily ruminating on the chain of events that had allowed him to marry Sapna but not earn her trust, love was still a far cry. She had never acknowledged their relationship beyond acquaintance and he had never pushed her to it. He had vowed to win her trust and honour to let her approach him when she felt the need to.

Sapna had entered the room to find him asleep as had been her routine for the past week she had heated some oil and had cooled it to body temperature. She had assumed him under the influence of drugs not realizing that they were back home and he was no longer sedated. Noiselessly seating herself beside him she had gently lifted his right foot and had proceeded to massage it with drops of oil, his foot had received countless wounds and was swollen. As her silken fingers worked over it he had found an inexplicable joy blooming in his heart was it really her taking care of him. Not wishing to make it come to an end he had feigned slumber and had not moved despite an overpowering desire to hold her hands in his own and kiss those delicate fingers. Midway through the exercise he had felt something soft press against his skin and then he had felt warm droplets slide down his foot. Alarmed he had removed his hand to see Sapna kiss his feet. "Sapna..." he had cried out in anguish pulling his foot back in haste. The sudden movement had caused him immense pain and his leg had started pounding he had groaned aloud suppressing it almost immediately. Sapna had moved forward swiftly "Kiya hua Ali?" What happened Ali? she had questioned in concern she pried away his hands to reveal his leg which he had been clutching to himself. "I'm so sorry" she had apologized trying to massage it "mujhey laga aap roz kii tarah so rahey hain" I though you were sleeping like everyday she had blurted the truth out in her attempt to pacify him and Ali had gazed at her in awe. "Kiya tum roz lagati ho yeh mujhey?" Do you apply this to me everyday? he had questioned quite forgetting the smarting sensation that coursed through his leg. Sapna had looked away immediately her eyes lowered in remorse she had not been fair towards him at all, his compassion and humble gestures had touched her deeply. The saree he had bought her for Diwali still remained the prime object of attention in her cupboard, she had thought she could never love anyone again. The heinous acts performed by Shashank had ripped her internally and she had found herself an empty casket devoid of a soul or any emotion. When she had married Ali it had been so because Milind had asked her to little had she she known he had granted her life. Ali was a gem a rare and precious one that was awarded after years of fatal quest and she had been presented with him even though she had sinned. She detested herself for her past mistakes and did not deem herself a suitable match for him. The rising amor she felt for him was wrapped in repentance and she had concealed it in the very depths of her being. She had thought it best to leave lest she cause him further pain when Ali had held her hand "Tum ro kyun rahi thi, kisi ney kuch kaha kiya?" Why were you crying did anyone say something? he had inquired in a troubled tone. "Kuch hua hai kiya, dekho main theek huun meri wajah sey pareshaan mat ho. Yeh to mamuli zakham hain waqt key saath bhar jaayeingey." Listen nothing's happened to me I'm fine. These are small cuts and bruises they'll heal soon. Saying so he had gently released her expecting her to flee but he was surprised to see her sit still. He was further befuddled to see tears drop on her hands "Sapna kiya hua.... kuch batati kyun nahin" Sapna what happened... why don't you tell me anything he had questioned again thoroughly baffled by her unusual behaviour. "Kyun Ali kyun.... kyun kii mujh sey shaadi?" Why Ali why... why did you marry me?she had murmured in a moist tone and Ali had averted his eyes from her face he simply could not see her that way broken and miserable. "Main jaanta huun tum khush nahin per uss waqt... khair tum agar chahti ho Sapna to main tumhain azaad kerney key liye tayyar huun. Maine tum per kabhi zabardasti nahin kii na hii kabhi kerunga." I know you'r not happy with this marriage but I thought this was best then. Anyways if you desire I'm willing to free you of it besides I never wanted to force anything on you. Though Ali had promised never to let go of her, her actions had made him come to the painful decision of setting her free.

There was no need of keeping her tied to him just because he loved her it would be cruel to her and he had wanted her happiness... always. He would have turned away had she not held him by his arm "Jaanti huun main aapkey qaabil nahin, aap jaisey achey insaan key pyaar key laiq nahin... per main" I know I don't deserve a good person like you or your love.... but I before she could finish Ali had placed his palm over her lips. "Phir kabhi mat kehna keh tum merey laiq nahin, tumhari qasam tumharey ilawa to kabhi kisi sey pyaar hii nahin kiya phir yeh kaisey socha tum ney" Don't ever say that you don't deserve me I've never loved anyone beside you how could you think of that Sapna had closed her eyes letting her tears settle on his hand. "Tumhara dil dukhaney key liye to shaadi nahin kii thi tum sey" I didn't marry you to hurt your heart he had stated in agony pulling away his hand. "Kyun itney achey hain aap Ali keh har baar mujhey maaf ker detey hain? Kyun mujhsey itna pyaar kertey hain?" Why are you so forgiving Ali? Why do you love me so? she had inquired studying his face through her wet eyes it was the moment of truth and Ali had known he had to tell her before the moment was gone altogether. Watching her steadily he had bared his heart to her "Tumhain dekh ker or koi jazba jo nahin ubharta dil main..... siwaye pyaar key." Whenever I look at you all I can think is of love... nothing else Sapna had felt deeply ashamed here was a man who had never felt any sentiment besides love for her and she had continually shunned him for his kind deeds. "Aap mujhey maaf ker dijiye Ali... maaf ker dijiye nahin to main jee nahin paungi" Forgive me Ali else I will not be able to live she had finally managed to say between sobs. Ali had been overwhelmed with bursting passion bending towards her he had gently kissed her tears away. Sapna had felt his warm lips rest on her cheeks and had closed her eyes encumbered by guilt that was the first time in six months that she had allowed him to touch her at will. Ali had drawn back then Sapna had opened her eyes confounded by his gesture taking his hand in her own she had planted a soft kiss on his palm and now it was Ali's turn to be astonished. He stared at her dumbfoundedly he could not understand the inspiration to her actions was it gratitude that drove her to such extremities or was it that she had finally considered him as her own. He dared not ask lest he scare her but let her carry on, his shock though visible in his eyes "Sach mujhey maaf ker diya aap ney?" Have you forgiven me? she had asked dubiously. "Jab koi ghalati nahin kii to maafi kaisi?" When you've not done anything wrong what should I forgive Ali had replied smiling. "Eik ghalati to nahin buhut saarii keen hain Shashank per bharosa kiya ussey apna sab kuch dey diya.....Prachi ka bura chaha, aaj tak aap ko nahin samjha... iss sab main sahi kiya hai?" It's not just one mistake there are so many I trusted Shashank gave him everything dear... thought bad for Prachi... what have I done right till yet? she had broken down completely reflecting on her tormenting past. "Sapna..." Ali had cupped her beauteous face with love in his palms "yeh sab kal tha aaj nahin" All this was yesterday not today he had tried to explain. "Uss kal kii parchaii to saari umer per chah gayi, main kabhi maa nahin ban sakti.... yeh jaantey huey bhi aap ney mujhey apnaya kyun Ali kyun?" But the effects of the past are poignant in the future .. I can never be a mother knowing this you accepted me why? Sapna found it hard to believe that her sins were pardonable. "Aulad merey ya tumharey haath main to nahin yeh to qismat kii baat hai, kiya is bhram kii wajah sey main tumhain thukra deta...... apni zindagi ko?" Children are not our to make they're a part of destiny how could I let go of you because of an illusion... let go of my life his statement had caused Sapna to shiver the realization that he considered her his life was breath taking. Ali had traced her lips with his fingers and she had allowed him to, his eyes had risen to hers seeking permission and she had closed hers in admittance.

Pulling her to him he had tenderly placed his lips on hers savouring the feeling unsure about it's duration. He wanted to show her she meant the world to him and realized words would not do justice to the love he harboured for her in his heart. Sapna had let him taste her though her guilt ate her up he was gentle and had remained patient when she had flinched afraid of becoming selfish to desire his love and acquire it when she did not deserve it. "Sapna" he had called out to her breaking free of the kiss she had lowered her gaze in compunction. "Mainey vaada kiya tha tumhain tab tak nahin chuunga jab tak tum khud nahin chahogi, I'm sorry" I had promised not to touch you till you desired it yourself I'm sorry. He had apologized and she had lifted her eyes to him baffled he had mistaken her anxiety for her disapproval. He had moved away and would have gotten off the bed altogether had she not called him. "Ali" he had stopped but had not turned around he was not going to break his resolve for a fleeting fancy on his part. He did not want either of them to regret their union it had to be an amalgamation of mind body and soul a moment they would cherish for eternity. Feeling her silent he had moved again when he had felt her hand on his shoulder. "Mujhey chor ker kyun jaa rahey hain aapney to kaha tha zindagi bhar saath nighayeingey" Why are you leaving me you said you'd stay with me forever the remark had left him irritated what did she require of him. She could not trust him yet requested him to stay "Sapna tum kiya chahti ho?" What do you want Sapna? he had asked the finality in his tone rendering it decisive. Sapna had steeled her nerves it had to be done someday if not now then never. "Aapka pyaar.... jo mera hai aaj mujhey dekhna hai aap mujhey kitna chahtey hain" You'r love that is mine... I want to see how much is it that you love me "Pyaar ki gehrai kaisey dikhaun tumhain?" How do I show you the depth of my love Ali had answered looking at her in trepidation in return Sapna had leaned forward and brushed his lips softly with her own. It had been a bold enough invitation on her part and she hoped he had understood it. The change in her touch had been felt by him she no longer witheld her desire for him. "Kiya tum..." Do you.. he had inquired searching her face hoping to confirm his doubts and she had simply nodded her head in assent avoiding eye contact. It appeared strange to Sapna that she had approached him with Shashank it had always been about him. Demanding, commanding, making her do things he wanted to but with Ali she felt the need for him the wish to be loved by him. She had helped Ali undress her, then himself her body trembling as he had held her close to him her breathing erratic. Ali had understood her dilemma a long time back and now it was time to show her how precious she was to him.

Caressing her soft lips with his at first he had proceeded to kiss her assidiously exploring her letting her drown in the over powering sensations that had driven her anxiety away. He had eased her in the act letting her participate with equal anticipation. Covering her he had further blown her senses away when his hands had traveled the entire length of her body following the rise and fall of her curves making her gasp in exhilaration. Her heart had soared when he had claimed her mouth again and had deepened their first real marital kiss as the time increased so had their passion. Ali was tender in lovemaking giving freely making her realize he was the one for her always. Her body had throbbed as he had piqued her yearning and had finally let him own her in every sense. As they sank deeper in a whirlpool of ecstacy she had whispered his name interlacing her fingers in his, he had assured her lovingly sealing her lips with his. The experience had granted them both an insight on each other. She had come to understand his love for her was unfathomable like the depths of the deepest ocean and he had recognized her longing to be loved completely by him. Much later as he lay cuddling her he had asked jovially "Dekh lii pyaar kii gehrai?" So now you know the depths of my love and she had smiled kissing him passionately. "I love you" she had declared that night and he had known it was the truth. Sapna had kissed his wounds one by one then and he had smiled "Mujhey malum hota accident key baad tum meri ho jaogi to pehley hii kerwa leta" If I knew you'd be mine after the accident I would've had it earlier he had joked and she had placed her hand on his lips. "Mujhey chor ker to nahin jaayeingey Ali? Aap key bina jee nahin paungi main" You won't ever leave me na Ali? I won't be able to live without you she had whispered tracing his lips feeling his stubble pricking her fingertips. He had kissed her fingers lightly as they brushed against his mouth "Tumhain lagta hai jee sakunga tumharey bina?" Do you think I could live without you? he had questioned honestly and she had shaken her head in the negative a tear escaping her eye as she hugged him in relief. "I love you too" he had informed her embracing her amorously their journey together had only begun as their hearts beat in unison.

The next morning while he sat sipping juice Sapna had informed him of her desire to convert to Islam. He had stared at her shocked "Yeh kaisey soch liya tumney?" How did this happen? he had asked in bewilderment she had never shown any such passion towards religion earlier. "Bas aap key accident key baad buhut saari duaayein maangi theen aap key rab sey ussney saari puuri ker deen aaj tak main itni khush kabhi nahin hui" I prayed a lot to your God after your accident and he answered all of them. I've never so happy in my entire life she had kissed his hand in gratitude. "Pata hai Ali main aaj tak pyaar ki talash main bhatakti rahi. Merey paida honey sey pehley Papa ney maa ko chor diya unho ney kabhi shaadi nahin kii thi. Maa ney jaisey taisey mujhey parhaya likhaya waqt key saath unka bartaav bhi badal gaya, woh mujhey bojh samajhti theen. Phir mujhey andaza hua unhain paison key liye kitney ghalat kaam kerney parey clubs main performances dena unkey bosses ko khush kerna" I've always been in search of love. My father deserted my mother before I was born they never got married. Maa got me educated somehow she used to work at clubs to make ends meet. As time grew so did her treatment towards me she used to consider me a burden she was sobbing now but Ali had not interfered it was the first time she had opened up to him. "College key baad mainey kaam shuru ker diya clubs main kaam kerna mujhey pasand nahin tha iss liye office main job ki Milind bhaiyya kii company main job mil gayi. Jab main Shashank sey mili usney mujhey buhut saarey sapney dikhaye, mujhey nahin malum tha woh itna gira hua insaan hai. Mujh sey shaadi kaa vaada kerta raha or mera istimaal bhi. Phir main pregnant ho gayi sochti thi meri ghalati kii saza bachey ko nahin milni chahiye ussey to jeeney ka haq hai. Eik aas thi keh Shashank apni aulad key baarey main jaan ker khush hoga shayad mujhey apna leyga per ussney hii ussey maar daala. Agar aap nahin aatey meri zindagi main to main mar jaati" After college I started working I detested clubs and the enviornment reason I started job at Milind's office. When I met Shashank he promised to love me. We got together and I got pregnant. I hoped the child would mellow him, make him marry me but sadly he killed his child himself. If you hadn't come in my life I would've certainly died she had broken down now and hiccuped when Ali had embraced her warmly. "Sochna bhi mat marney key baarey main tumhari jaan meri amanat hai samjhi" Don't even think of death your life belongs to me now he had smiled kissing her. "Jo guzar gaya ussey bhool jao aaney waala kal buhut khubsurat hai" Forget your past because a vibrant future awaits you he held her close kissing her neck and lips tenderly. Sapna had wanted to go cook food for him when he had held her to him "Aaj mat jao mujh sey duur" Don't leave me today he had requested his eyes brimming with love.

Sapna could not have asked for anything more doing away with their clothes they lay together and she let him discover her anew. As emotions ran high Ali had kissed her raw making her ache for him and when they both couldn't stand the desire any longer he had shifted her underneath him gently dipping himself in her. Later as they lay spent catching on their ragged breaths Sapna had planted soft kisses on his chest placing her head on it listening to his heart race below her. She still could still not believe she was married to the most wonderful human being ever to grace the world. "Sapna" he had called out to her playing with her thick tresses and she looked at him questioningly. "Tum ney larki dhundna shuru kii ya nahin?" Have you started searching for the girl? he had inquired. "Konsi larki?" Which girl? she had asked raising her head to meet his gaze not getting him at all. "Wohi jis ko tum apni souten bananey waali ho" The one you'r going to get me married to he had remarked with a dead pan expression. Sapna had stared at him horrified she couldn't even think of sharing him with someone else now. "Aap mazaq ker rahey haina?" You are joking right? she had asked her face depicting her discomfiture "Nahin to" No Ali had remarked impassively watching her face lose colour. "Agar tumhari khushi issi main hai to yehi sahi... main ker luunga yeh bhi tumhari khaatir" If you wish this then I'm willing to comply for your sake he had imposed on her. Sapna could not believe she had destroyed her heaven her ownself. "Woh to mainey uss waqt kaha tha" All this was said back then she had tried to explain him her heart beat accelerating as she sat up straight was he really giving the idea a thought. What would she do then how would she survive without him by her side, just when she had been blessed by his love she could not afford to lose it. "Ali mainey aisey hii kaha tha aap ney sach samjh liya" Ali it was a mistake why did you consider it true she had reasoned with him and he had acted to be shocked. "Per main to sach samjha tha iss liye Saadia se baat bhi ker lii hai. Uski nazar main hai eik achi larki tumharey saath adjust bhi ker legi" But I thought it was the truth. I've talked to Saadia too she knows a wonderful girl who can adjust with you he had assured her caressing her arms. All was lost for Sapna now he would leave her and she would be all alone again hiding her face in her palms she cried her heart out. She wept inconsolably much to Ali's expectation he knew she loved her fiercely and could not in any circumstance let him distance himself from her. "Ab kyun ro rahi ho uss waqt to barey daavey sey keh rahi thi duusri shaadi ker lein" Why are you crying now you were very adamant then go get married to someone else he had mimicked her. "Aap ko kaisey bataun main aap sey kitna pyaar kerti huun woh sab to meri bewaqufi thi aap mujhey uski sazaa dey rahey hain or kehtey hain mujh sey pyaar kertey hain" How do I tell you how much I love you that was my foolishness you'r punishing me for it and you say you love me she had reprimanded him pushing him away in sorrow. "Ab dogi yeh faltu key mashwarey mujhey?" Now will you ever give me such stupid suggestions he had inquired and she had shaken her head in the negative "I'm sorry main aapko samajh nahin paayi Ali" I'm sorry I didn't understand you she had apologized understanding the pain he must've felt when she advised him regarding the matter. He filled her in his arms kissing her bare form top to toe she still would not stop crying causing him to fret bringing up the issue. "Maaf nahin kerogi mujhey?" Won't you forgive me? he had whispered in her ear and she had looked at him in love hooking her arms around his neck she pulled him close. "Ainda kabhi darayaeingey mujhey?" Will you scare me like this now? she had asked innocently making him smile. "Kabhi nahin" Never he had promised capturing her inviting lips in his own making her revel in his amor as he ignited her senses body and soul with his fiery touch.

Days passed quickly with Sapna's care and love Ali had recovered fully and was soon able to resume work. In his absence Milind had taken care of his workshops doing a daily round to keep sure things functioned smoothly. Ali and Sapna were so much in love sometimes Ali wondered how she had ever come to hide it all inside her. When he asked her about it once her eyes had glistened and he had dropped the subject immediately. Sapna had embraced Islam with vigour and passion her new name was Saima meaning a pious and pure woman in Arabic. They had taken their vows again with her new identity this time quietly in a mosque with four close friends as witnesses. "Saima Ali Khan... not bad mrs" Ali had winked and she had smiled basking in his love that he showered freely on her. As the months advanced Prachi's delivery date drew nearer. For the past few weeks Milind had been asking Ali to buy a house next to his since his neighbour was selling his mansion settling in the States for good. "Per main itney barey ghar ka kiya kerunga Milind hum hain hii kitney log" What will I do of such a big house we are a small family he had negated the idea. "Dafa ho jaa saaley bhai key saath rehney main problem hai tujhko aaj nahin hai to kal barh jayegi family." Get lost you have a problem living with your brother if not today your family will grow tomorrow. Milind had coaxed him trying to emotionally blackmail him and Ali had given in, both his garages were doing well moreover he was dwelling on the idea of opening a car parts factory. He could import car parts and then build replicas of them at his factory selling them for cheaper rates. The venture was profitable and Milind had promised to provide him the initial finance. Soon Ali had bought the house next to Milind's and much to Saima's delight they could spend wonderful moments among family. The first night thay had shifted at their big home Saima had felt uncomfortable on the massive bed when Ali had drawn her nearer cradling her in his arms. "Ghar ho gaya, business ho gaya pyaar bhi kuch or baaqi rehta hai?" We're done with the house, business even love is anything lacking now? he had questioned cheerily and she had nodded her head. "Baaqi rehta hai.... humarey bachey" Yes there is something lacking... our children she had whispered causing him to reflect on her thoughts. "Tum kyun pareshaan ho unhain leyker?" Why are you worried about them? he had asked tenderly it hadn't been the first time she had raised the issue. "Ab agar dusri shadi ka kahogi to khudkushi ker lunga" Now if you suggest me remarrying I'll suicide he had threatened her and she had smiled. "Ali main soch rahi thi hum mera ilaaj kerwa saktey hain... kuch to ho sakta hoga.. aap hii to kehtey hain muajzey khuda hii kerta hai phir hum per bhi to woh meherbaan ho sakta hai" Ali I was thinking we could get me treated some good would come out of it. Besides you'r the one who says miracles do happen then why not with us she had persuaded him and he had assented. "Tumhari khushi main meri khushi hai Saima jii" Your happiness is mine Saima he had smiled as his lips sought hers in a blissful union.

Part 72

"And the prince and princess lived happily ever after" Prachi had closed the story book while Preeti listened to the story lying next to her. "Mumma pincess aur" Mumma princess more she had requested her mother to read the story to her once again. Prachi lay uncomfortably on her bed this was already the third time she had read it to her and now felt numb with exhaustion. It was her ninth month the baby was due any day and tonight she felt extremely tired but she had not wanted to break Preeti's heart. Gauging her anxiety Milind had come to her rescue. "Preeti jaan agar aap kahaaniyan sunti rahogi to baby so nahin sakeyga" Preeti sweetheart if you keep listening to stories the baby won't be able to sleep he had reminded her and Preeti had sat up alarmed. Gently patting her mother's protruding belly she kissed it with love. "Babiii seep" she had instructed her sibling still inside it's mother's womb and both Milind and Prachi had laughed aloud at her innocence. Preeti was excited to know she would get a baby soon to play with Milind had told her it would be her just like her doll only it would respond to her. Premlata had entered the room then to take her away as it was time for her to hit the bed or she wouldn't get up to attend her pre school the next day. Kissing both her parents good night Preeti had bounced off the bed and straight into her naani's arms. Prachi shifted restlessly on her side of the bed. She felt as if she carried a weight and couldn't quite sleep properly these days Milind had gently pulled her in his arms rubbing her sore back he felt her relax in his hold. She had moaned contentedly as his hands worked on her back soothing her aching muscles "Better?" he had asked and she had kissed his nose in answer.

Making her lean on his chest he had rested his hands on her bloated stomach feeling the baby change positions under his palm. "Kiya soch rahey hain?" What are you thinking? Prachi had asked as he breathed silently "Yehi keh eik nayi zindagi ka janam kitney sapnon key saath hota hai Preeti key waqt main jitna dara hua tha utna hii terey saath khush huun." Just that each new life is linked with so many dreams as much as I was scared for Preeti I'm happy to the extent with you Prachi had taken his hand in her own interlacing their fingers "Milind tab haalat aur they ab aur hain" Milind there's a difference between then and now she had allayed his anguish. "Hum in sab main sath hain humara bacha humarey liye humarey parivar key liye buhut saari khushiyaan saath laayega. Aapney merey har dard ko apnaya hai mujhey itni bari khushi dii hai ab aapki khushi kii baari hai or woh aapko mil ker raheygi" We're in this together our child will bring happiness for us and our family. You've always taken care of my problems it's time you got your share of happiness and I'll make sure you get it and he had kissed her temple in gratitude. These nine months had been a revelation for him he had watched his child grow inside her without any doubts haunting him. Prachi had made him attend each visit to the doctor helping him keep tabs on the baby's progress he would bring anything she desired or demanded. Once she had asked him to get mangoes when they were not in season. "Prachi market main nahin hain jaan kahaan sey laun main" Prachi it's not in the market where do I get it from? he had implored "Mujhey nahin malum" I don't know anything she had sobbed. Her sudden craving for them had her cranky and when he had returned empty handed she had cried to sleep making Milind fret the entire night. The next day Milind had asked Ravi his friend at the airport to get him mangoes in any possible way who had helped him out by contacting an exporter of the fruit in Bangladesh where the seasonal fruit was being harvested. The very next day he had sent Milind a crate and he had brought it home for Prachi who had squealed in delight. "Oh Milind aap ley aaye aam.. thank you so much" Oh Milind you brought the mangoes she smiled in jubilation eating quite a few on the spot making Milind laugh in merriment. She had thanked him after her dinner that night and had apologized on her behaviour but he had simply smiled, he had actually loved the fact that she had desired something of him. Prachi had borne her share of predicaments now he wanted to make sure she received everything she desired. Making her lie on the bed Milind had proceeded to massage her swollen feet. "Milind rehney dijiye" Milind let it be she had tried to stop him but he had placed a finger on her lips quietening her as he lay a pillow under her feet. Propping them slightly he soothed them working expertly on her soft skin. She had loved the calming sensation and was soon fast asleep removing the pillow from underneath her Milind had joined her in the relaxing exercise accompanying her in dreamworld.

Two days later as they sat sunning themselves in the garden with Ali and Saima the family was alarmed to see Prachi clutch her stomach in agony her labour pains had started. Milind had lifted her in his arms placing her in the car followed by Ali and Saima who had taken them to the hospital. Ali had driven the car while Milind sat with Prachi in his arms in the back seat "Milind" she had breathed in evident ache biting her lip. "Bas Prachi hum puhunch gaye hospital" It's ok Prachi we're at the hospital he had assured her taking her hand in his own which she had pressed with all her might in an attempt to face another wave of pain. "Milind" she had cried out again her agony escalating with each passing second soon they were at the hospital where the doctors had immediately tended to her. Milind paced the corridor frustrated as Prachi's cries could be heard outside the labour room. It was tormenting for Milind to not be able to alleviate her agony in any way. Saima had tried calming him "Bhaiyya she'll be fine" she had held his hand making him sit on a bench outside the room. The process was tedious as could be gauged by the constant afflicting yelps and screams that emitted from the room making Milind wish he had never touched her in the first place. With Kaajal he had never been subjected to such misery as hers had been been a c-section while Prachi's was quite a normal delivery. After a long wait of forty five minutes which seemed like forty five years to the soon to be dad his child had graced the world screaming in rage. Milind had dropped his head in his hands in relief finally it was over. His heart alone knew how hard it had been for him to hear Prachi that way.

Moments later the doctor had emerged from the room "Congratulations it's a boy" she had informed him. "Can I see her doctor" he had asked "Not until we shift her" she had replied walking away briskly. The nurse had followed a few minutes later handing him his son bundled in a snowy sheet. He looked on amazed at a perfect replica of himself. "Mubarak ho" Congratulations Ali had congratulated him hugging him warmly studying the child's features. "Yaar junior to bilkul terey per gaya hai" Junior has taken after you he had remarked causing Saima to agree. The child indeed had taken after Milind right from his burnished skin to the wavy curls, small button nose and perfect cupid lips. It scrunched it's tiny face up in retaliation as Milind touched it gently. "Ghussey main bhi terey per gaya hai" Even his anger is just like your's Ali had retorted as the baby let out a loud yell and this time Milind had joined the laughter that resounded in the corridor. Prachi had been cleaned and shifted to her room she lay anxious awaiting her child when Milind had sauntered in carrying their symbol of love in his arms. She had sidled away to make place for Milind who sat by her on the bed handing him her reward. Prachi had held her son touched and astounded unable to believe she was finally a mother in every sense, she gently unfolded the sheet around him revealing his small body his chest beating rapidly. "Bilkul aap jaisa hai" He's just like you she had remarked to Milind kissing her baby's miniature forehead with love. "Thanks Prachi" Milind had kissed her temple gratefully embracing them both in his strong arms. "Kal Preeti ko dikhayeingey uska bhai" We'll show Preeti her brother tomorrow he had smiled in jubilation and Prachi had leaned against his broad chest thanking God for getting it over with without any hitches. Soon the mother and son lay asleep worn out after their perilous exercise. Ali and Sapna had stolen in while Milind made Prachi comfortable they stood bathing the child with their loving gazes. Sapna's medication and treatment had started the gynecologist they had appointed was the same who had handled Prachi's pregnancy and had instilled hope in them all was not lost. Probably the doctor who had treated her after the accident was not a gynecologist in the first place and had failed to gauge the extent of the injury to her womb. Fortunately for Sapna the bullet Shashank had fired had lodged in her fetus killing it but apart from that nothing much had been damaged. The day the doctor had relayed the good news to them they had been overjoyed with happiness. That evening they had donated clothes and money to an orphanage Ali and Milind donated frequently to. Now all they had to do was wait patiently for the miracle to happen.

Preeti had been overjoyed to find a little brother accompanying her parents the next day. Premlata had conducted an aarti for them at the doorstep as it was the baby's first entrance in the house. Baba, Bua, Naintara, Daadi had all been awaiting their return anxiously. With calculated steps Prachi had entered the house carrying her prized possession Milind had swung Preeti in his arms who was literally begging him to let her hold the baby. "Papa peassse papa peeassee" she chanted all the way to their bedroom. Once there Prachi had lifted Preeti on the bed beside her. Instructing her how to fold her lap sitting cross legged so that it could accommodate the baby and had placed her newborn in it. "Kaisa laga baby jaanu?" How do you find the baby sweetheart? Prachi had inquired the young girl whose face shone with excitement. "Acha" Nice she had remarked in jubilation finally her playmate had arrived. She was three now and quite a smart kid who understood sentiments perfectly she sat cradling her baby brother kissing his cheeks and nose with sisterly love. "Mumma babii seep?" she had asked her mother who had nodded her head in assent "Abhi so raha hai thori der main utheyga phir aap khelna iss sey theek hai" He's sleeping now when he'll wake up after some time you can play with him Prachi had reassured her young daughter kissing her lovingly her family was finally complete. Milind had entered the room again this time with the baby's crib and other accessories placing them near the bed he joined his small family on it. Picking up both his children he placed them in his wide lap, Preeti had cuddled to him discussing her baby brother whom she found quite amusing and much bigger and better than her doll. The next day a pooja had been organized for the baby's name keeping the pundit had deemed the letters A and R as suitable for him. Milind had named his son Aryan meaning noble, Aryan Milind Mishra he liked the feel to it. "Kaisa raheyga Aryan Milind Mishra?" How is this Aryan Milind Mishra? he had asked Prachi who had raised her eyebrows in admiration "Naam to buhut acha hai" The name is very nice she had complimented him for his good choice. The rest of the family too had considered it a superb name and as the pundit suggested it was apt for the child.

Milind had entered the bedroom a few nights later to find Prachi feeding Aryan she gazed contentedly at the little child who sucked hungrily on her teat. "Prachi" Milind had called and she had lifted her eyes to meet his "Itney pyaar sey kabhi iskey baap ko bhi dekh liya ker yaar" You should look with the same love at his father too sometimes he had complained laughing. "Aap aisey shikayat ker rahey hain jaisey aapkey hissey ka saara pyaar main issey dey deti huun" You'r complaining as if I shower your share of love on him too she had smiled as he had pressed his lips to hers in a quick kiss. Sighing he had laid down to rest "Abhi to do hain to mujhey bhuul gayi kal ko chaar hongey to main to nazar hii nahin aaunga tujhey." It's two now and you've forgotten me if you end up having four children I won't even be visible to you He had pulled her leg as she patted her son buttoning her gown she held him to her shoulder to make him burp. "Chaar Milind yeh do hii nahin sanbhaltey mujh sey ab kii baar aap pregnant ho jaayeiga meri jagah zara andaaza ho to dard ka" Four Milind I can't handle two you want me to have four children. This time try getting pregnant in my stead maybe then you'll get an idea of the pain i went through she had reprimanded him. Her son wasn't even a month old and her husband had wanted two more heirs to his legacy causing him to laugh aloud. Minutes later Aryan had burped patting him continuously Prachi had rocked him to sleep, placing him in the crib she had joined Milind in bed. "Ab bataiye kiya keh rahey they" Now tell me what were you saying she had shaken his shoulder and he had pounced on her pinning her underneath him laughing mischievously making her giggle. "Do do bachon key pita ho gaye Milind aap kab barey hongey" You'r a father of two children and still a child yourself when will you grow up? she had teased him "Kabhi nahin!" Never he had informed her gallantly kissing her face with love. Since she still had not finished with her post partum period he had refrained from any intimate activity filling her in his arms he had nuzzled her neck gently. "Milind" she had called to him some time later and his hands moved on her stomach in response "Aap darr gaye they hospital main?" Were you scared for me at the hospital she had asked him. Saima had narrated Milind's trepidation to her in detail during the time she had spent in the labour room. Looking at her intently Milind had consented "Haan buhut darr gaya tha... itna keh socha tujhey chuua hii kyun" Yes I was to the extent of thinking why did I ever touch you in the first place he had told her relating his distress and concern and Prachi had shed silent tears. "Kiya hua? Dard ho raha hai?" What happened? Are you hurt? he had asked in alarm and Prachi had simply smiled. "Hamesha mujhey yunhi chaheingey na Milind?" You'll love me like this always? she had inquired as Milind had kissed her tears away "Hamesha" Always he had promised. "Chahey tuu haathi jitni moti hii kyun na ho jaye" Even if you become as fat as an elephant he had told her making her smack his arm playfully. Snuggling upto each other they had slept overcome with weariness only to be awakened by their son's shrill cries two hours later.

Time had flown Aryan had grown from a baby to a toddler and soon it was his first birthday. Prachi sat dressing him for his first birthday celebration when she had heard Preeti's voice near her. "Mumma cake mera hai" Mumma the cake is mine she had declared defiantly and Prachi had smiled placing Aryan in the crib she had taken out Preeti's dress from the wardrobe. Making her put it on, brushing and clipping her hair neatly she led both the children down to the hall. It was a family affair with just close friends and Ali and Saima present. The cake was a Daffy duck on four year old Preeti's insistence. "Papa main cake kaatungi" Papa I'll cut the cake Preeti had stood on the stool ready to shed crocodile tears if she was not allowed to slice the dessert. While the birthday boy clung to his mother eyes shining lips smiling to see his elder sister. Preeti and Aryan had bonded from the very first day there wasn't a moment when his eyes weren't searching for her and when she wasn't playing with him. Preeti attended montessori at a prestigious kinder garten in the vicinity even though she had friends her age she would not leave her brother's side once she returned home from school. Right now she stood waving the knife infront of her father who had called it a truce and eventually the cake was cut with both the parents holding both the children and the knife together. Ali had captured the kodak moment in his camera clicking pictures away. "Chachu bhaiyya kii tasveer lo merey saath" Chachu get my photo with bhaiyya Preeti had requested him and he had complied. Saima had enjoyed the party feeding cake to Ali as he neared the table, he had bit in and fed her the other half. With time their love had grown based on firm belief, faith and trust in each other and their relationship. As Saima finished her cake Ali had spotted some crumbs clinging to her mouth and immediately graced her with a quick kiss wiping them away with his lips. He had then handed Aryan to her who gurgled in her arms he was familiar with his Saima chachi. The one who never failed to play with him bring him toys and take care of him when his mumma was busy with his cranky sister. He clutched fistfuls of her heavy hair playing with them smiling at Saima displaying his set of six milky teeth.. "Yaar yeh to line maarney laga tum per lao do issey mujhey" He's flirting with you give him to me Ali had joked while Saima kissed the little cherub laughing at him.

That night after feeding her mother in law Saima had prayed long and hard to the Creator, it hurt her to think that she was yet deprived of the one fruit she longed to bear her Ali's child. Tears spilled down her face travelling to her hands as she sobbed silently "Or kitna imtihaan lega mera.... mujh per bhi karam ker dey. Iss qaabil ker dey keh apney Ali ko unkey hissey ki khushian dey sakun.... unka naam lena waala koi to ho, koi to mujhey maa keh ker pukaarey." How much more do I have to suffer... bless me God, help me give my Ali his happiness. Let someone be his heir, let someone call me mother too. Much later when her heart felt at peace she had rolled the mat and placing in the cupboard left for her bedroom. She had assumed Ali to be sleeping and had gotten in quietly beside him when he had opened his eyes to welcome her. "Ker aayein saari shikayatein khuda sey?" Finished complaining to God he had asked watching her red veined eyes and wet face he had known what she had been up to. In their two year relationship he had had come to understand her more than himself it pained him to think she blamed herself for not being able to provide him with a child. He had tried explaining to her that it was destiny and God's will alone that would grant them this happiness. Spreading his arms wide he had beckoned her to him and she had fallen in them crying hot tears. "Kyun itna sochti ho Saima?" Why do you think so much Saima? he had gently caressed her hair as her body heaved in his embrace. "Or kitna intizaar likha hai qismat main Ali ab mujh sey bardasht nahin hota" How much more do I have to wait Ali I can't bear it any more she had wept and he had held her face in his hands wiping away her tears. "Saima sach main ab agar tum ney socha iss baarey main to mujhey dukh hoga" Saima if you keep thinking like this I'll be upset he had remarked. "Dukh iss baat ka keh main tumhain khush nahin rakh paaya, chah ker bhi tumko sab kuch nahin dey paaya. Zarori nahin kami tum main ho kami mujh main bhi to ho sakti hai" Unhappy because I'll believe I haven't kept you happy enough. It's not nnecessary you'r barren I could be the one at fault too he had stated morosely and Saima had quickly wiped her tears away. "Acha nahin sochungi bas aap aisey nahin kahein" Fine I won't think that you just don't say this she had tried to smile resting her head on his chest she had breathed heavily while he combed her hair deep in thought.

The next day he had brought tickets to Dubai a change in environment would do her good he had thought and soon they had left for their much awaited honeymoon. Even though Saadia and Faisal had insisted Ali had not resided in their abode opting for a lavish honeymoon suite in Burj al Arab. Though he and Saima did go and meet them often Saadia's daughter Saara had taken after her mother sweet gentle and cute. She was the same age as Aryan being born at the same time Faisal had promised to show them around Dubai visiting Sharjah, Jumeirah and Deira. It was a small place filled with shopping malls, expensive restaurants and a most wonderful beach. Saima had certainly fallen in love with the sand and sun there she particularly loved the coastal belt. Not giving much importance to the decked up malls but on Ali's insistence she had shopped from Lulu mall and the likes of it. Ali had tried his best to make her forget the constant yearning she had for giving him an heir. Nights were hot young and passionate as Ali never faltered to display his love for her. The days had flown quickly before they left for home Saima had decided to surprise Ali. She had asked Faisal to arrange for a beach house and had blindfolded Ali before making him sit in the chaueffer driven car. Soon they sped on tarmac roads to their destination a beach house in the Palm Jumeirah Resort. Helping him get out she led him to the house once there she had opened his blindfold, as the beauty of the scenery sunk in him he had smiled serenely. She had cooked for him earlier that evening his favourite food mutton biryani and kheer, she further amazed him by serving him dinner on the patio outside. They dined on a blanket under the stars listening to the waves pound on the beach restlessly. After dinner they walked on the grainy sand hand in hand committing the valuable moments to memory. The wind rose and it grew chilly as Saima shivered in her cotton salwar kameez Ali had rubbed her shoulders in an attempt to warm her up. Their eyes had met then and the distinct longing that tugged their hearts was felt by both walking up to the house they had made straight for their bedroom. Removing their clothes they lay embracing each other their hearts overflowing with love and desire. Saima had not witheld her love for him that night showing all that she held in her heart for him. Kissing him fervently not leaving any inch of his masculine form untouched. Nibbling his earlobe gently she had gasped as he had tenderly bit her neck making her crave for more. What had followed then was a wonderful journey to esctacy where both had actively participated in granting each other bountiful pleasure. That night as Ali had ridden her to euphoria unknown to them he had sown the seeds of his future generation, their prayers had at last been answered.

They had returned to their homeland content and satisfied Ali's business had picked up, the factory he had set up in Mumbaii had finished its first year and was now moving on to provide him with surplus profit. His car products were the talk of the town cheap and durable they took the markets by storm. Back at home Saima was more than happy with Aryan and Preeti who spent their evenings with her. A few days after their return Saima had started feeling ill she had not known the reason and had refrained from worrying Ali over it. She felt nauseous and fatigued and had fainted twice. Ali had come to know about it when one Sunday she fainted in their bedroom while handing him his clothes he looked on aghast extremely worried attempting to wake her up. The doctor was called and informed he had prescribed her vitamins and had advised a complete check up. The next day Ali had driven her to their doctor who had after conducting the necessary tests provided them with the news that she was indeed pregnant. Both of them had stood shocked at the revelation not knowing how to react the drive back home was silent they both needed time to let it sink in. Only when Prachi had asked them about the results had Ali been able to tell her the wonderful news. She had called Milind up and by evening Saima's much awaited pregnancy was being celebrated by their family. Ali had noticed the news had left her blank and withdrawn that night as she lay next to him tensed and worked up he had gently nudged her making her face him. "Ab to sab theek haina" Everything's fine now he had assured her but her dread remained clear in her sandy eyes. Hugging him close she had cried silently "Tum khush nahin?" Aren't you happy? he had asked holding her to him. "Buhut khush huun Ali, itni khush keh mujhey darr lagta hai apni khushi sey, kahin meri hii nazar na lag jaaye" Very happy, so happy that I fear I might jinx my happiness and he had smiled kissing her cheek. "Kuch nahin hoga theek nou mahiney main tum ammi ban jaogi" Nothing wrong will happen you'll be mother in exactly nine months he had reassured her tenderly kissing her tears away and she had smiled at the heart warming prospect of being called a mother.

Epilogue.

The hospital was the same that Milind had visited exactly twenty two months earlier, the corridors were the same though they had painted the walls blue the previous year. The doctor was the same the situation the same only this time the patient was different. This time it was Ali who paced the corridor in a state of frenzy while Saima went through the excrutiatingly painful task of bringing his children in the world. Her muffled sobs and whimpers were audible outside the room where she displayed remarkable courage of braving wave after wave of torment. Only for Saima the torment was double the amount since she was expecting twins. "Ali aisey hii chalta raha to ghiss jaayega" Milind had remarked as Ali tirelessly walked the entire length of the corridor once again. "Yaar itni der kyun lag rahi hai?" Ali had demanded to know as if Milind knew exactly why the little beings failed to grace the world at jet speed. "Haan mujhko hii to bata ker gaye hain dono kitni der main aayengey" he had remarked irritated at Ali's constant pacing and had made him sit beside him on the wooden bench. A heart wrenching scream from Saima had announced the arrival of his son who cried out loud much to Ali's relief. His daughter was quick to follow not wasting much time in her mother's womb she too shrieked out her guts making her presence known. Ali had said a silent prayer and was about to leave to call the mualvi when Milind volunteered to since the mosque was at walking distance he returned soon with the elderly figure. The nurse had handed them the little bundles of joy their tiring exercise had left them worn out and they dozed off conveniently in their father and uncle's arms. Ali looked on stupefied at the gifts God had given him "Congratulations it's a baby boy and and a girl" the nurse had informed him smiling. Ali held his daughter tenderly she was a miniature form of Saima milky skin, shapely lips, perfect nose with thick hair. As he caressed her cheek she had groggily opened her eyes to meet his reticent ones. It was a brief moment they shared as she stared at him he noticed she had his eyes. Kissing her softly he handed her to Milind who had finished examining his son handing him to the proud father he certainly had taken after him wavy hair, wheatish complexion those high cheek bones. Saima had been treated and shifted to her room where the small party congregated to watch the mualvi chant the azaan (muslim call for prayers) in each child's ears. Milind had given him some money as a token for his services and they both had left though before leaving Milind handed Saima a gold bracelet. She had looked at him questioningly when he told her "Behen key haan pehla bacha ho to tohfa detey hain na waisey bhi tu meri behen pehley hai bhabhi baad main." He had smiled and Ali had helped her wear it she had thanked Milind who had waved it off smiling at them.Saima despite her aching body was eager to hold her children in her arms. Ali had handed both of them to her as she sat embracing them a tear had dropped from her eye on her son's cheek and she had kissed it away softly. "Ab kuch baaqi rehta hai?" Ali had whispered sitting beside her "Haan" she had whispered back resting against him gazing at him fondly. "Kiya?" he had asked smiling "Aapka umer bhar ka saath" she had replied and he had kissed her lips with love.

Five years later

"Zahra catch" Preeti had thrown the plastic ball to her as they played on the greens in Ali's lawn. It was a Sunday and as custom the Shah family spent their day at Ali's house. Preeti, Aryan, Zahra and Zaryab entertained themselves on the lawns while their fathers sat monitoring them. Premlata, Saima and Prachi were busy in the kitchen cooking a sumptuous feast for the afternoon meal. "Tuu ney Khanna ko phone kiya tha woh nayi Rolls Royce key liye" Milind had asked Ali who sat sipping on fresh lemonade. "Haan keh raha tha agley mahiney aa jaayeigi" he had told Milind who had nodded his head. Over the years both of them had progressed in their respective businesses. Milind's hotels were widely acclaimed and he had come to own a chain of them across the globe. While Ali's car parts factory had bloomed into a full blown industry and he now reaped the rewards of his hard work. So much so that all the cars at Milind's hotels were sent to his garages for repair moreso Ali was the one who advised Milind on the brand of cars Milind needed to make available at his hotels for pick and drop services. On the home front both led blissful lives with their loving wives and children. Over the course of time many changes had taken place Ali's mother and Bua had passed away the blow had been too much for Ali and Prachi respectively but they had a supportive family who took care of them in their grief. Milind on Premlata's insistence had tried to trace Alaap she was a mother first and foremost and for her Alaap was still her son. Much to Milind's dismay even before he could get on with the investigation he had come to know about Alaap's untimely death in a fatal encounter with the police. Suyesha's father was a wellknown Don famous for his corruption and terrorist activities on one such occasion when the police had raided one of his hideouts Alaap had been arrested along with a few close friends of the underworld leader. In an attempt to flee he had been shot dead and thus his wasted existence came to a sad end. Premlata had been heartbroken but Milind's care and attention had helped her get over the grief of losing her young son. Bobby had completed his business studies and had taken over the reins of Shah Industries. Even though he was new at the business front Milind's skillful guidance had helped him turn into a budding entrepreneur one that would've made Inder proud had he lived. Soumya had married Ranbir one of Ali's close friends and owner of countless Honda showrooms in Singapore it had been love at first sight for them. Ranbir's parents had flown in from Singapore and after meeting the family had been thoroughly satisfied of his choice giving their assent to the match. Six months after they were married with much aplomb and now resided in Singapore. Premlata had narrated to Prachi the relationship Inder had shared with Milind prior to his death explaining in detail the way both had helped each, Inder in his life and Milind after Inder's demise. Prachi's heart had been filled with newfound respect for her husband. "Aapney mujhey pehley kyun nahin bataya aapkey or Papa key rishtey key baarey main?" she had inquired teary eyed. "Bata ker kiya paata Prachi?" he had tried to reason with her. "Main aaj tak dukhi hoti rahi keh Papa ney aapko kabhi jaana nahin Milind per aaj khushi iss baat kii hai keh unhain bhi aap ker yaqeen tha jaisey aaj mujhey hai" she had told him and he had kissed her velvet lips. "Kuch baatein waqt per chor deni chahiyen Prachi aaj jaan gayi ho to khush ho uss waqt nahin jaana uss main bhi uper waaley kii marzi thi" he had assuaged her and she had hugged him in gratitude her husband was someone she had found her world in.

"Zaryab wahaan mat jao dekho phisal jaogey" eleven year old Preeti had warned Ali's five year old son who had turned out to be the naughtiest of the lot. As expected of him he had not paid any heed to her and slipped into a patch of wet grass. Before any of the men could move even a finger the children had scampered to where Zaryab lay motionless. "Zaryab kiya hua tumko?" this was Preeti patting his cheeks worriedly. She had grown into a fine young girl smart and beautiful despite her unconventional looks she caused quite a few heads to turn which made Milind fret sometimes. She was the apple of his eye his first born he had known love in its purest form through her they shared a deep bond. Even today if Milind was unhappy or disturbed she would be the first one to gauge his anguish and would then bring him ice cream chocolate always. As they would eat it together she would lighten up his mood by talking to him sharing her activities and thoughts and by the end of it he always felt relaxed. Watching her paint skilfully he would sometimes shake his head in disbelief it seemed like yesterday that she had been born and already she talked about her latest crushes with her mother what was the world coming to. "Zaryab bhaiyya utho kaprey kharab ho gaye to mumma chocolate nahin deygi" this was five year old Zahra being his twin she knew him better than the other two. With time she had grown more beautiful her milky skin had turned pink her eyes more brighter and hair more lustrous. She was her father's girl and enjoyed spending time with him curled up on his lap she would often fall asleep as he watched soccer on tv and they shared popcorn from the same bowl. "Zaryab utho jaldi dekho main huun na yahaan tumharey saath" eight year old Aryan had held his hand out to the little boy who lay sprawled on the ground. Aryan was Milind's pride in him he saw himself, they were friends rather than father son a relationship Milind had always wanted to share with Baba but never could. He had though fulfilled his dream through his son they talked about anything and everything Aryan shared his secrets with him and often if he was entagled in some problem he'd seek Milind's help on it. They played soccer together and of late they'd been exercising together too. His shock of curls fell on his forehead and he raked a hand through them now and then, he was street smart and possessed the same anger, pride, fierce determination and will that his father owned. Zaryab had placed his hand in Aryan's and the elder one had picked him up gently straightening his collar he brushed off bits of grass off his shorts. "Kitni baar kaha hai aisey mat bhaaga ker samajhta kyun nahin... ab bhaga to lagaunga eik samjha" Aryan had swept his hair away from his forehead in irritation. Five year old Zaryab had hugged Aryan joyously as he had grown Saima had known Zaryab was another Ali in the making. He had got the same compassionate and forgiving nature as his father the only thing she had passed on to him was her eyes. His were the same colour as hers sandy green apart from that he was a carbon copy of his father.Watching from a distance Milind and Ali had smiled the next generation of the Mishras and Khans had inherited the love sincerity and unconditional support their elders had passed on to them.

The children had resumed their play and soon Naintara was beckoning them to wash up before they had lunch, after Bua's demise Naintara had stayed behind and was now engaged to Bobby, they were to be married the next month. Under Prachi and Saima's watchful eyes Naintara had transformed into a beautiful swan from the ugly duckling that she was. No one could have anticipated Bobby's love for her and it came quite as a surprise to Premlata she had thought Bobby would end up marrying someone from his social circle but was greatly relieved to hear he liked Naintara. "Thori si jhalli hai maa... per buhut achi hai" he had coaxed his mother making her smile ofcourse she knew Tara and was more than happy to have her a daughter in law. Ramu Kaka had helped the women spread the big mat on the lawn and soon it was covered with a sumptuous feast. "Mumma pata hai Zaryab bhaiyya ney kiya... kiya!!!" Zahra had instigated her mother. "Zahra kii bachi ab agar shikayat lagayi mumma ko to dekh lena saari colour pencils phenk duunga tumhari" Zaryab had threatened her his eyes blazing with fury. Before the fight could prolong Milind had seated himself between the two "Barey papa samjhayein issey mujhey na daraya kerey" Zaryab had complained to Milind who had supressed a smile. "Kyun Zahra bhai hai na kyun tang kerti ho?" he had questioned the little angel who had grinned back at him "Barey papa aapko nahin pata yeh bhi meri shikayatein lagata hai mumma sey" she had informed him in hushed tones. Watching Milind busy with them Ali had smiled his children were forever found in Mishra house not that he minded or it mattered to him. "Chachu dekho kiya khichdi paka rahey hain dono" Preeti had drawn his attention and he had ruffled her curls "Yehi to aata hai dono ko" he had answered back and both of them had burst out laughing. Aryan was busy with Saima "Chachi ab kiya Zahra or Zaryab sey chota koi nahin aayega?" he had asked her dolefully one of his classmates had recently had a baby sister and when he had gone over to play cricket at his place he had managed to see the little child. As he held her in his arms he had hoped he too could have one of those in his house Saima had looked up to see Ali watching her at the precise moment that their eyes had met he had winked at her making her blush. "Hmm waisey yeh kaam tumhari mumma hii ker sakti hai" she had conveniently diverted his attention to Prachi who was ladling out gravy for Milind. So engrossed was she in the task that she failed to listen to her comment and carried on with it Milind though had heard the statement and had looked lovingly at his wife. Their relationship had grown from strength to strength Prachi had made him understand life was beautiful and worth living each moment of it. Tucking in his food he had made up his mind to talk to Prachi about their son's wish that night.

"Dekho Aryan daant zarur brush kerna tum hamesha bhool jaatey ho, or Preeti zyada der tak mat jaagna mujhey malum hai High school musical aaney waala hai but no late nights ok" Prachi had reminded the children before they picked up their night suits and tooth brushes as it was a weekend they were to spend it next door with Zahra and Zaryab. The little kids looked forward to the weekend the entire week then they were allowed to watch tv till 10 and play before they hit the bed as the children turned to leave Milind had called out to them "Kuch bhuul rahey ho" he had questioned them. Preeti had smacked her palm on her head and had walked to a portrait of Kaajal hung in the hallway Aryan had followed her both had then changed the garland of flowers around her picture and had lit the lamp saying a small prayer. "Aaj kitni shikayatein keen meri maa sey?" Preeti had asked Aryan as they trundled across the driveway in their bedroom slippers. "Tum to aisey puch rahi ho jaisey meri to kee hii nahin hongi tum ney ... maa sirf tumhari nahin meri bhi sunti hain... samjhi" he had danced his eyes in naughtiness and Preeti had felt challenged. "Race you till the door last one's a rotten egg!" she had screamed and they both had made a dash to the door in the yard a shortcut to reach the other house. Prachi had watched her children pay their daily respects to Kaajal she had always taught both her children that Kaajal too was their mother elder to their mumma in position as she was initially wedded to their father. Milind had wanted Preeti to know about Kaajal, fulfill his first wife's wish of her daughter call her, her mother. She lay waiting for her husband in her bed when she heard him walk in and join her. Slipping his arm around her waist Milind had pulled her to him while she caressed his cheek with the back of her fingers. Hugging her to him Milind had nuzzled her neck lovingly "Hmm janab kiya baat hai buhut pyaar aa raha hai aaj" she had questioned cheerily. "Matlab roz nahin kerta pyaar?" he had feigned shock. "Bas bas zyaada naatak nahin bataiye kiya baat hai" Prachi had giggled tracing his full lips with her index finger. "Humarey betey ko kuch chahiye hum sey" he had informed her while she looked at him quizzically. "Kiya chahiye ussey pichley haftey hii to cricket kit dilaya hai ab itni jaldi mat dilaiyega ussey kuch aadatein kharab ho jayeingi uski" she had told him. "Ussey jo chahiye woh deney main time lageyga" Milind had smiled enjoying Prachi's confusion as she combed his curls lovingly. "Aisa kiya chahiye ussey?" she had asked confounded. Advancing his hand on her belly he had placed it there staring at her hazel eyes he felt her skin turn hot under his touch her eyes shining. Prachi had understood him then it wasn't that they hadn't been thinking about it it was just that they hadn't been trying very hard at it. Clasping his neck in her arms she had lifted her head to kiss his lips gently making him deepen it long for more. As if on cue his hands had worked at her night gown denuding her completely while she helped him bare himself. Placing fervent kisses on her carved figure he had made her ache for more guiding her to ultimate bliss as her body rose and fell in sync with his. As she panted heavily after their scintillating union Milind had kissed her cheek tenderly "Prachi" he had whispered and her eyes had met his "I love you" he had smiled and she had felt her eyes glisten with moisture. "Eik baat bataun" she had smiled at him and he had felt her lips on his before she had whispered back.... "I love you too."

"Good night chachi" Preeti had called to Saima as she flipped the lights close in her bedroom "Good night jaan" she had smiled before turning to her bedroom, her two monsters safely tucked in bed she had checked on Preeti and Aryan who too were ready for bed she silently tread the stairs to her bedroom wondering if Ali was awake. Saima had come to value Ali and her family more than her own life she could never thank God enough for giving him to her one of the best gifts ever to be bestowed on anyone. She reached her bedroom to find him asleep slipping in beside him she had gently kissed his forehead. "Good night" she had whispered when she had felt his arm on her smiling he had tilted his face to kiss her chin. "Bas sirf good night?" he had questioned and she had smiled "Acha chaliye aap hii bataiye or kiya chahiye" she had teased him kissing the corner of his mouth tentatively. "Buhut kuch " he had smiled pulling her closer making her smile deepen. "Tumharey bhateejey ney kuch maanga hai tumsey" he had reminded her his eyes glowing in merriment "Haan per woh to mushkil hai na" she had explained. "Kyun!" Ali had questioned in alarm making her giggle. "Merey akeley kii bas kii to baat nahin" she had answered shyly and he had laughed aloud. "Phir to madad kerni chahiye mujhey" he had murmured placing his lips on hers passionately overtaking her senses and body. She had allowed love to reign free that night letting it drown her in perfect ecstacy as Ali had made her yearn for him. As their bodies had conjoined so had their hearts throbbing in wild frenzy emitting a volcanic eruption of amour and concupiscence melting in the furnace of their love. Much later when they had relaxed considerably he had let her kiss him in gratitude "Pata hai Ali aap sab sey achey hain" she had informed him gazing in his deep eyes. "Kyun" he had smiled enjoying his appraisal. "Main jo aap sey pyaar kert i huun iss liye" she had smiled invoking one from him "Pyaar to main bhi kerta huun tum sey, kerta tha, kerta huun, kerta rahunga" he had told her. "Hamesha" she had wanted to know "Hamesha" he had promised. Happily ever after difficult but not impossible.

Thanks for this Munee. I know from personal experience how painful the process is. Will help me read certain parts I will never tire of reading again.
