I happened to listen to them(I used to listen to BBC Radio several yrs back..😆)accidentally came across!!! Gosh!!!!! I fell madly in love with that music and the voice of those singers(though i do not know their names or
meaning)I used to listen for good 30 minutes daily!!! but slowly lost touch !!!!!!!

But munee!!!!!! to me it is URDU😎 😎 only!!!!!!! No other language can surpass it (My opinion)In u r country it is the official language na!!!!!!!!

Whenever I get time I tune in to Urdu news here on All India😆 Radio at 6.10 or 6.15😕even till today!! most words r r tough to know the meaning!!!!..I do not want to know!!!!!!!😆..just the sound of it..the way they utter the words!!!!!! oh!!!! Magnificent😳

Yes Vasu Urdu is my mother tongue yes difficult too I had quite a time studying urdu poetry for my exams most of the words are diificult since Urdu hails from turkish and arabic there are many words incorporated from the two languages. I love Arabic grew up listening to it Aritha I think you should try Amr Diab and Nawal too they also are wonderful egyptian singers. Also try Nancy Agram's Akash mak Ah it's a beautiful composition. And Amr Diab's Habibi.

never heard pure urdu. my muslim frnds kill it. they mix slang urdu with telugu and hindi...argh not pleasant. but yea proper urdu might be very good

Aritha, you should hear Urdu from Lucknow, or the Urdu in shayari/ghazals..

"Likha tha jis kitaab mein ke ishq toh haraam hain
Hui wohi kitaab gum, badi haseen raat thi"

This is how I fell in love with Urdu.

Yes Shubhs Urdu originates from Turkish and Arabic it was modified to blend with hindi as the Mughal rulers ruled the sub continent. It has a rich history. Must admit urdu poetry is lilting like soft music....

This is from a ghazal album called "Sajda"- sung by Lata Mangeshkar, music by Jagjit Singh and I feel terrible not remembering the name of the poet- Probably Qatil Shifai???

Hmm that seems like a sufi poem Qteel Shifai yes he was a commendable poet. Nice selection though.
