STAR BUCKS: Preity donated her part of the cash prize to the Society to help out in its welfare activities.

New Delhi: After adding colour to the Holi Special of the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati on March 1, actress Preity Zinta donated the money she won on the show to the Shimla District Red Cross Society. &nbs p; &nbs p; &nbs p;
She donated a sum of Rs 25 lakh, ADM Ajay Sharma said on Sunday.

Along with Preity, actress Rani Mukherjee also had won the same amount of cash prize in the Holi Special episode of the quiz show on Star Plus, hosted by superstar Shahrukh Khan.

Preity donated her part of the cash prize to the Society to help out in its welfare activities, Sharma said.

As of now, the Society has purchased an ambulance and a dead body van from the donation, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Tarun Kapor said.

KBC News - The week that was...

KBClive rounds up all the action from week six.

KBC this week was filled with colour and whole lot of Indian sweets as it was time to celebrate Holi. The first contestant to celebrate Holi with SRK on the Hot Seat was Nitesh Ukaani from Gujarat. He also tries to convince Khan to become a brand ambassador for his three wheeler vehicle. Carrying a card from his kids for Shah Rukh, the business man won big and took home 6, 40,000 rupees.

Next on the hot seat was Deepak Jain. Looks like Khan impressed yet another teacher as Deepak gave a message out on the show to all the children all over the world to emulate their favourite star and try to achieve all the success the host has through all his hard work. At times, Deepak was quite indecisive and nervous. He even took back one of his lifelines when the person he wanted to speak to didn't answer the phone and used it at a later time. However, at the end of his game he too like his predecessor won himself 6, 40,000 rupees.

Deepak's exit bought 6foot 3inches tall Ram Gopalkrishnan from Hyderabad onto the Hot Seat. Sharing some jokes about their height difference, Ram and Shah Rukh shared great camaraderie and both seemed to be having great fun with each other. However, all the fun and jokes didn't stop Ram from winning. By the time it was time for him to exit the game, he had won 6, 40,000 just like the other two contestants of the week.

Next to sit opposite SRK was Rakshit from Gujarat who was recovering from a leg injury. Quite impressed with the way Rakshit was playing, Shah Rukh kept offering him sweets. And in the midst of all that banter, Rakshit reached 12, 50,000 rupees before he left the game. The next was Manish Singh who barely made it to the Hot Seat before it was time to close play for the day. Sadly for him his next claim on the prize money was to resume only on Monday next week as Thursday evening belonged to Rani and Preity who were celebrating the Holi Special on the show.

Looking beautiful the two actresses joined, Shah Rukh on Thursday evening to celebrate Holi on KBC. From discussing what kind of life partners they were looking for to dancing on the sets and answering some questions in between, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. And before we all knew it, the duo had won 50 lakhs!

Now the wait is for Monday night, when Manish will sit opposite SRK and hope to be the first player to win the 2 crores that is waiting for him!

I had so much fun last night!

Ladies and gentlemen….boys and girls… welcome back!

The two – Preity and Rani – were so nervous at the start of it. No matter what I told them or tried to calm them down the two looked like as if they were sitting for their final exams. But I'm quite impressed with the way the two of them played… must say that winning 50 lakhs is brilliant. I do hope that it makes a lot of difference to their causes.

But for me one the most enjoyable parts was when I scared the two girls with balloons. They actually thought I was going to throw water balloons on them on national network! But girls are like that, aren't they? Even growing up I remember when I used to tease the girls I was growing up with they used to scream and yell so loudly in the colony…

All in all I had a brilliant time. I hope you all are getting ready for Holi too. Have a great time… enjoy the time off to spend with your families.

And boys and girls I know your exams are round the corner so many of you may not be able to enjoy playing Holi as much as you may want. But don't worry too much about it there is always next year and many more after that! Be good, study hard and listen to your parents when they tell you not to get too wet as you may end up in fever.

I'll see you again next week.

Lots of love,

SRK

Brilliant week ahead.

Ladies and gentlemen….boys and girls… it's great to see you again.

From your reactions I feel you all enjoyed the Holi Special as much as I did. That's great... do keep leaving your messages like this. But guess what as much fun as the last episode was, I have an equally fun filled week ahead for you starting tonight. So many new contestants all with dreams in their eyes and hopes and plans for the money they will win.

I hope you enjoy each episode to come as much as I have had fun recording each of them. In fact I have another BIG surprise coming your way in a few weeks. But at this point my lips are sealed! Else it won't remain a surprise na…

Acha tell me what did you all do over the weekend? I was working on Saturday but on Sunday the KBC team had the day off to celebrate Holi. So for all my viewers in India tell me how was your Holi? Did you have a lot of fun? With whom all did you play? Give me all the details… I want to know

I'm going to log off at this point play Holi with the kids, and I'll see you tonight!

I love you!

Joker No 1!

Shah Rukh Khan is finally spilling the beans about his immaculate sense of humour on tonight's episode of KBC3.

When the latest contestant, Nagendra Biyani, asks SRK about how he comes up with humorous one-liners and witty jokes at the drop of a hat, the actor promptly responds that when his mother was expecting him, she had wished for an ever-smiling child.

Little did she know that one day he'd grow up to be a complete joker! We're sure she's laughing a proud laugh too, SRK.

Koffee sells as KBC ratings trail

AUDIENCE POLL: The audience seems to care more about Bollywood gossip than GK questions.

Mumbai: Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan – two friends, two big names in Bollywood and now TV presenters. While the former has coffee with his friends and digs out Bollywood's best-kept secrets, the latter is now known as brand KBC.

But while Kaun Banega Crorepati's ratings are dropping by the day, Johar's show Koffee With Karan is doing astoundingly well and the ratings have shot up.

"I have been told that the TRPs are awful. Then I have been told that they are picking up and then I have also been told that they are steady now," Shah Rukh Khan quips.

In what is turning out to be the zaniest installment of Koffee With Karan, it seems Johar is having the last laugh as stars bare their heart on the show.

"Our facts and figures are great. The TRP ratings have doubled. The elite group ratings are the highest ever of any English show and I am thrilled by the response, especially from the media in which every new controversy is being written about. It works for me as it keeps the show alive," Johar says.

So, what does Johar mix in the coffee? Get your claws out pills?

Well, whatever it is the audience verdict is clear – more than GK question and answers, they care about Bollywood gossip served over a hot cup of coffee.

Protests outside SRK's residence over 'anti-Amar Singh' remark
Mumbai, Mar 06: Angered at Shahrukh Khan's reported comments on their party leader Amar Singh at a recent film awards function, Samajwadi Party workers as well as members from other organisations on Monday staged protests outside the actor's residence here.

Several activists, carrying banners and shouting slogans, gathered outside Khan's bungalow 'Mannat' in suburban Bandra on Monday afternoon. Samajwadi Party, however, denied it had anything to do with the protest. "The protests are not be organised by Samajwadi Party. They are being organised by some North Indian organisations and some of our workers are pariticipating as members of those organisations. We do not have any hand in this," party MP Abu Azmi said. Khan had in the awards ceremony also clarified that the comments were meant in 'pure jest' and he did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings.

Samajwadi Party activists on Monday demanded an apology from film star Shahrukh Khan for allegedly abusing Amar Singh at a recent film awards function.

Mumbai, Mar.5: Samajwadi Party activists on Monday demanded an apology from film star Shahrukh Khan for allegedly abusing Amar Singh at a recent film awards function. Khan light-heartedly described Amar Singh as a Darinda or fiend at the Filmfare Awards function here. This, however, irked his supporters. They gathered outside Mannat, Shahrukh's bungalow, and shouted slogans against him. "During the Filmfare awards function, Shahrukh Khan abused our leader Amar Singh, who is the president of the Uttar Pradesh Vikas Parishad in the most absurd way. We condemn this. We respect him a lot because he has made Uttar Pradesh Uttam Pradesh. The people of Uttar Pradesh condemn this and ask Shahrukh Khan to say sorry, or else we will come out onto the streets and organize a mass movement against him all over India," said Rama Shanker Tiwari, the President of the Uttar Bhartiya Sangam.

Shah Rukh is reported to have apologized after the function, but according to the Samajwadi Party activists, this was not enough. This led to the police arresting some of them. (ANI)

Feel like TV stars, with little help from Star TV New Delhi, March 5 (PTI): Television viewers, who wish to walk, talk or look like their favourite stars, may get to fulfil their desire using Star TV's merchandise based on popular programmes, including KBC-III and other soap operas. The broadcaster is in the process of licensing merchandise from the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati-III, which would allow viewers to do everything that the show's host Shahrukh Khan does, save his mannerisms. "By the second half of this year, Star will come out with product line based on the popular game show KBC," Star TV Senior Vice President (Licensing and Merchandising) Nannette D'sa said. She said the merchandise could include apparel, published material, games, CDs, DVDs, upholstery etc, for which the partners are yet to be finalised. The company, has, however, sealed licensing agreements with some major retailers for merchandising of its popular serials like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, 'Virasat' and 'Karam'. "We have tried to create a concept called 'Star Parivar' and tied up with Portigo Furnishings and Creative Mobus for which the marketing and distribution would begin in April this year," Nennette said. Some of the other companies that Star has signed agreements include, Lilliput, Saregama, Trio (Canada), Popular Prakashan and Excel Videos for distribution and marketing of a range of products like apparel, homeware, jewellery, furnishing, DVDs and books form Star TV shows with high TRP. The company hopeful that the merchandise business would serve as a healthy revenue stream.

"The channel is lending the use of its 'brand' for a royalty ranging from 7-15 per cent for selling products," D'sa said.

KBC contestant protests outside SRK's house?

By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 6, 2007 - 12:10 IST

Once again SRK shoots his mouth off against the Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh at a recent award function.

Shah Rukh was heard commenting that "Amar Singh ki aakhon mein darindapan dikhai de raha hai. Arrey yeh maine kya keh diya..." Soon after which SRK laughed off his remarks by quickly adding "I am demented".

But unfortunately his quick regret didn't help much and lead to harsh consequences with the SP activists staging a morcha in front of the actor's residence Mannat in Bandra yesterday. The morcha lasted only for 10 minutes and was disrupted by the police. Shah Rukh was not at home when the incident occurred.

One of the activists protesting against Khan proclaimed that what Shah Rukh had done was wrong and that he had humiliated their leader and that Amar Singh was also invited to the function and SRK shouldn't have commented in this manner.

But the interesting twist to this story is that when the police caught hold of 50 odd activists, one of the detainees claimed that they were paid to protest against Shah Rukh by one Mr Yadav, a contestant on KBC last week, who had a minor brawl with the King Khan over a question on Ambedkar.
