"Shahrukh Khan has knocked out the Bachchans with taking over KBC. It was a kick in the teeth for senior Bachchan as KBC was his biggest source of income. The only hope for them was that the program would fail but that has not happnened. All this flustered the Bachchan's and they made a joke of themselves within the entertainment industry with their poor publicity stunts. Agreed the TRP rating's are lower but it's a totall different ballgame as compared to the old times as there are many more channels coming up everyday. I work here at Star and the facts are that KBC3 has generated more revenue in one month than the older KBC's did in a year and that is why Star are delighted. "

Now, Sanjay Dutt in the hotseat!

By: Upala KBR
March 7, 2007

Warm guy: Shah Rukh Khan

Sanjay Dutt is an avid watcher of Shah Rukh Khan's Kaun Banega Crorepati 3.

Dutt has been very generous with his compliments to the new quizmaster, and the two actors have forged a new friendship because of it.

No wonder then that when SRK asked Dutt to appear on a special episode of KBC3, he agreed without a moment's hesitation.

Yesterday afternoon, Dutt and Boman Irani shot for the special episode in Film City.

Breaking the ice: Sanjay Dutt on KBC in 2001

Mutual admiration

A close friend of Dutt reveals that recently Sanju got so carried away by SRK's amusing antics on the show that he messaged him about it.

"Sanju messaged SRK to say that he loved watching him in KBC 3, and how much he enjoyed watching it because of him."

What's more, the source says that SRK immediately replied back thanking him.

The SMS broke the ice between the actors. They have been chatting regularly since.

Meanwhile, Sanju confirms that he shot for KBC 3 yesterday. He says, "It was great fun.

Initially, I was very apprehensive but Shah Rukh made me feel very comfortable," adding, "I watch KBC 3 every day.

I like Shah Rukh's warmth on the show. He is really good, comes across as a warm and caring personality, and the show is so much fun because of him."

Cause for concern

In 2001, Dutt appeared on KBC with Amitabh Bachchan on the occasion of World Cancer Day, and spoke at length about the setbacks in his life because of the disease (his mother Nargis suffered from it).

Bachchan even asked Dutt about his drug-induced youth and Dutt said that he took drugs because of peer pressure, where you was considered hip if you were into drugs.

"I wanted to belong to that hip crowd, and unfortunately, I got drawn into it and continued with it for nine years. Today, I am completely out of it, and I am ready to counsel anybody about its ill-effects if they require it."

Dutt had won Rs 25 lakh on the show, which he donated to charity houses named after his mother.

Shah Rukh and Sanjay Dutt bond on KBC

By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 7, 2007 - 06:17 IST

After Rani and Preity guess who is going to be on the hot seat with Shah Rukh? Yes it's none other than our very own Munnabhai!

Sanjay Dutt who is an avid watcher of Shah Rukh's show will be seen donning a new avtar, that of a contestant on KBC. Sanjay along with Boman Irani recently shot for an episode for KBC along with Shah Rukh Khan in Film City.

It is said that Dutt is so much in awe of Shah Rukh that after watching his antics on the show he messaged the new quizmaster to tell him how much he loved the show. Shah Rukh spontaneously messaged him back thanking him.

Well seems like KBC has not only helped Shah Rukh enhance his image but has also helped create a bond of long lasting friendship with Dutt.

SRK and Sanjay Dutt
After having shot for a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3 and earned some quick bucks, Sanjay Dutt now intends to donate a generous share to Support, a NGO that rehabilitates drug-using minors. It's a lesser-known fact that the actor who had a drug-induced youth himself is one of the prominent members working for the Santacruz-based organisation and has been actively participating in various programmes for nearly a year.

Talking about his association with the NGO, Dutt says, "I have been in to drugs at a certain point in my life. I'm aware of the ill-effects. Thankfully, I had a very strong support system in my family and I could successfully kick this habit. I can understand the mental state of these addicted kids and there families. I wanted to do something for them and that's when I discovered Support through a common friend. Apart from rehabilitating these kids Support also keeps them occupied with little jobs so that they can divert their minds."

His responsibilities include counselling, visiting shelter homes and mobilising funds for the organisation. "I try and donate whatever I can but apart from that I make it a point to give whatever time I can to go and counsel these kids or I go there whenever I am called there. In fact I want to now go to these streets and convince these kids to come to the rehabilitation centre and try and get out of this habit,"says the actor.

Sanjay Dutt in KBC 3

By Vickey Lalwani 2007 Bollyvista.com

SRK asked Sanjay Dutt to appear on a special episode of KBC3. Both Dutt and Boman Irani shot for the special episode in Film City.

It all started when Sanju messaged SRK that he liked the show. SRK messaged him back, and an invitation, which Dutt duly accepted followed shortly thereafter.

In 2001, Dutt appeared on KBC with Amitabh Bachchan on the occasion of World Cancer Day, and spoke about the setbacks in his life because of the disease (his mother Nargis suffered from it).

Following Rani and Preity into the hot seat is none other than our very own Munnabhai!

Sanjay Dutt is an avid viewer of Shah Rukh's show and will now be a contestant on KBC. Sanjay along with Boman Irani recently shot for an episode of the game show.

Apparently Dutt is so much in awe of Shah Rukh that after watching his antics on the show he messaged the quizmaster to tell him how much he loved the show. Shah Rukh messaged him back with a thank you.

Now, we shall see the two come into our homes as they share the small screen soon.

SRK-Sanjay together!

by Debasis Jana

Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt to be seen together, however not on big screen; as per latest Sanju with his 'Munnabhai M.B.B.S' costar Boman Irani had recently come in Film City studio to shoot for the popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. As per reports Sanjay and Boman will appear on a special episode of KBC.

After replacing Amitabh Bachchan, new host Shah Rukh has already shot two special episodes for KBC with his star friends – one on Valentine's Day and another is on the eve of Holi. However presenting Sanjay and Boman together as celebrity guests on KBC, was not preplanned. It all started when Sanju messaged SRK that he liked the show. SRK messaged him back, and an invitation, which Dutt duly accepted followed shortly thereafter. We are sure this episode is going to be a memorable one.

'This boy has made it a joy!'
By: Upala KBR
March 9, 2007

He's the man behind the questions in Kaun Banega Crorepati. But Siddharth Basu of Synergy Communications (which produces KBC) prefers to remain behind the scenes. We catch up with him for a short and snappy chat on SRK, the Big B and KBC.

Sanjay Dutt and Boman Irani shot for KBC last Tuesday. How did it go?

They both made an extraordinary effort to join us on the show. Boman came all the way from London, where he is currently shooting, just for the day.

He enjoys quizzes and his mother is a big KBC fan. They're quite a combo and real entertainers. Expect the unexpected.

When will the episode be aired?

Later this month.

Why Sanju and Boman?

Yes, in a sense it was a Munnabhai pairing. Circuit was on the line from London for a bit.

Which trust have they donated the money to?

Their charities were the CPAA and Don Bosco Shelter for Children, Wadala. You'll have to wait for the show to find out how much they donated.

calling the shots: Siddharth Basu on the sets of KBC 3
What other interesting combinations are you looking at?

The plan was to have three specials this season, which are done. But there could be one more.

Have the TRPs of KBC has gone up in the last couple of weeks?

KBC's been the top show since it began. Sometimes the numbers may be more, sometimes less, but it's been right up there in the ratings.

Are you happy with the kind of response Shah Rukh has been getting?

I'm delighted. The response is as good as it can get. His youthful charm, his massive star appeal, his spontaneity and energy, his sense of humour, his intelligence all add value to the show. He scores with everybody, but most of all with young people and women.

People say KBC's format has become boring. Are you looking at a change?

The format is the magic of the show and it would be foolish to tinker with fundamentals. Yet, there's a fair bit of innovation going on all the time within the Indian version of the format.

What is the best compliment you've received for KBC after SRK joined?

'This boy has made it a joy!'

Were you disappointed when Amitabh Bachchan was unable to be a part of the new season?

Of course. It was wrenching. He was synonymous with the show.

SRK FEELS KNOWLEDGE CAN BE FUN
Shah Rukh Khan seems to be on an experimenting mode. After dancing to his tune for the music video for promoting his new show KBC, Shah Rukh Khan has once again danced to his favorite choreographer Ganesh Hegde's tune for the new T Series album Karle Karle Koi Dhamaal directed, conceptualized, choreographed and sung by Ganesh Hegde, with music by Vishal Shekhar, lyrics by R D Telang, Shabbir Ahmed, Kumaar Gill and Asif Baig. Ganesh Hegde is pretty excited with his association with SRK after his earlier association with Big B. Exclaims Shah Rukh "The thought behind the song is really nice, since it encourages queries and questions in a fun way, not like an exam. It says knowledge can be fun. For the first time, Ganesh has lent his voice for playback and I think I am thankful he has done it with me. The conceptualization to present me in a different way was completely Ganesh's idea. Vishal -Shekhar came up with the tune in a minute when they heard what Ganesh was planning. I think between the three of them Karle Karle has turned out to be an interesting mix of foot tapping way of encouraging the quest for knowledge". With Shah Rukh Khan donning the cap of the new KBC host, it is not surprising that he is encouraging the quest for knowledge. Isn't it?

Kya hua, tera vada?

All this while King Khan shouted from the rooftops that no contestant would go empty-handed from the hotseat.

But when one of the contestants recently drew a complete blank in KBC 3 and went home sans a penny, King Khan did not remove his Tag Heuer and hand it over to him.

While SRK maintains that Tag isn't shelling out free watches, it seems that he definitely believes you have to earn your right to his chronographs!
