especially a woman in her 30s!
randomly today, I was listening to one of my favourite songs and I think it conveys everything I had hoped to see in katha and what the makers totally missed.

so this is one of those 'whole love story in one song' scenario -- just for context, she is divorced with a small toddler when they meet. they strike a friendship and after four years, it turns romantic. he is in love but you don't see him mooning like a teenager. yes, he looks at her and there is admiration in his eyes but it never feels intrusive and neither does he lose sight of his job (he is a cop). he is a man in love and there is something rather cool about him -- his half-smiles, his head shakes -- the way he conveys his feeling of love.
at the same time, we can see the spark of attraction in her eyes and their conversations ebb and flow over the years. we also see a variety of fashion with her -- she is a classical dancer but at the same time modern. we see him courting her steadily through a friendship but there is a mature stability in how they show those interactions. then it peaks and we see the romance blossom.
this is the kind of mature love story I was hoping to see in this drama. these are the types of looks and stolen glances I wanted to see. this song is musically great -- you can turn on CC for lyrics subs -- but also visually a treat to watch in terms of story presentation. something I enjoy watching even though I have seen it many times.
this was what I had hoped with this drama, instead, I am annoyed and facepalming. đ I am not even enjoying the build of romance because they took away viaan 1.0 and we are stuck with a saintly manchild. instead of swooning, we are thinking of crime patrol type unhealthy obsessing.đ¤Ł
also in the song, you see his interaction with the child and this is an adult-child relationship played out so beautifully. the scenes are so tiny but we can see the child's love and sense of security she feels with her mom's friend. you don't see him pander down to her but you can see him keenly listening. he is more like an old-fashioned father figure. (there is another fantastic song from the same movie which is very famous and shows him as a stepfather to the child -- very popular choice for father's day).
so yes, viaan could be playful but we have a skewed dynamic where a child is giving advice to an adult. instead of scenes that moves us, I am facepalming and thinking of things like how dangerous this can be. again, crime patrol feels and vibes. đ
so yea, expectations and how it could have been ...... đ
