It is a one night stand which is not based on attraction at all, on anyone’s side. At the most he is curious about her and she is desperate for money. For her it’s transactional, for him he wants to prove a point to himself. He wants to prove to himself that he was right about women a all along, and he proves it in a misogynistic way, but not by rape but by consensual transaction.

I understand in the Turkish OG, they made a point to show that he was attracted to her, I didn’t really get that in the ITV version. Frankly I am ok with that.

I am not confused by his actions, because his own confusion and struggle is interesting to me. After all, your upbringing can influence your thoughts in various ways. Because he is rich, we call him egoistical, if he was poor, we would call him immature. If he was a horrible person, he would have raped her to prove that he is right about women. Because he isn’t raping her, this act will serve to be completely opposite to him than what he set it out yo be.

In fact, I can’t wait for scenes where she turns around and says, OR even his friend after he comes to know tells him, if you were born in a poor household, you would not have the time to think about women like this or test them like this. Your privelege allows this, but essentially there is no difference between you and the poor man who drinks and beats his wife.

It’s that layered character that makes the story interesting. Suddenly the sexiness of a rich guy has been diminished.

So it is anger, but not at her, but at himself! But he is taking it out on her. And that’s where he is like any man, and not a hero. The day he realizes the immorality and the despicable aspect of it, and starts to change his ways, is when he becomes a hero.

You have explained Viaan's character nicely.

But i still failed to understand him here. Ok he has a very low opinion about women. Fine... He got to know that Katha is a gold digger . Okay.. Now what he wants to prove by agreeing for ONS. If Katha broke his trust and also a gold digger, then he can refuse to gv her money.

But he will spend a night with her and after that he has the audacity to question her character. Bloody Hell.😡 if Katha is a gold digger,then he himself is a MCP.

My heart broke for Katha and Aarav today. 😭That kid is a brilliant actor.

I am looking at this differently, I feel that we should not look at his feelings vis a vis Katha, his reactions are not based on Katha at all, his reactions are based on his own feelings and thoughts and beliefs he has for himself. The back and forth with his intense feelings is his own struggle, they actually have nothing to do with Katha. It’s like you spend your whole life believing something and then someone comes around, breaks it, create a flicker of hope and then takes it away. Then you spend being disappointed and angry at yourself for even for that minute creating a flicker of hope within you.

It is this that Viaan is reacting on, it has less to do with her, and everything to do with himself and his own value struggle. For such a man who was so controlled and so wound up, to apologize, to ask to prove to himself, his apology has to be tested whether it makes him bigger than her or her bigger, he is willing to put that to test in the slight hope that he is fine to bow. Only for that hope to be taken away. He was right all along, how dare she even give him that hope?!

Viaan feeling a flicker of hope because of Katha which immediately got extinguished because she said yes and now he's just angry at himself - that actually does make sense.. It just didn't seem that way while watching hence I was 😔

Finally watched the episode and felt like there was manipulation all around.

Uncleji with mummy type shawl around him was emotionally manipulating his wife. But her walking away was the dignified response to his manipulation.

And Viaan on the other hand feels he is getting manipulated and wants to put a stop to it. But his response is one of showing his physical prowess. Hence, there is no dignity in his response.

And I fast forwarded the hospital scenes - too much rona for me and no new info. 😢 Matlab I refused to get manipulated 😌😌😌

Did Viaan have any past gf or relationship?

@ Bold - Absolutely yes!! No two ways about it- Vian is an arse…an MCP. and in his mind, he has justified it by saying she is a gold digger. Now the flip side is that she isn’t and then how will he respond? Does he change his ways, does he repent, will the show do a good job of redeeming him?

So end of the day, our ML has started off as a man of questionable morals which he has hidden behind his wall of obstinate beliefs. What happens when that wall is broken down. A true hero repents, changes his ways, finds way to seek forgiveness. This is the story for me.

What makes it even more interesting is if the FL shows zero romantic interest in him instead of just succumbing because she “fell in love with him during sex”. That would be immature writing. Her strength is in that she is telling us “sex” is an act, it can serve us, it can shame us and it can empower us.

That scene was definitely done to show many things

He doesn’t take advantage

He thinks all women are opportunistic

So essentially when he is driven to apologize, there is a a part of him that thinks, she can’t be all that, let’s see if she succumbs just like any woman would

so he asked (because he is an arse)

He was relieved when she yelled a no (because he does want to have hope)

He is angry when she came back (because she proved him right when he wanted to be proved wrong)

She played with his mind

Now he is so angry he will play with her …the age old, I will show my male prowess….only to go through more confusion again!!

To me this is the most layered ML we have seen on ITV.
The FL is facing conflict from all sides, external circumstances but the ML is facing conflict internally

Bold- Exactly.... this is only male ego/power...let me teach a lesson to her kind of attitude he has. He is not a saint person. But the girl is a gold digger, let me show her place then... Chiiii what kind of mindset is that.

Viaan is the most layered ITV ML.

Actually I agree with you that they should have come out more strong on this aspect. More build up would have been good. But I do think the public apology, the thank you to himself and then in todays episode the anger, the inner confusion, the back and forth of emotions during the dinner table are all subtly showing us this.

They haven't shown anything here till now. But in OG he does have a fiancé who cheated on him before their wedding... i don't remember exactly, but Aisa hi tha kuch.
