PART - 19

The next day morning Kasturi will get up late. She had forgotten all her problems and had slept as a baby. But as soon as she wakes up, all the issues come back to surround her!!! She will get up and get ready but will dread meeting others!!! Alka and Pooja will be waiting for her like tigers on the prowl for their victim. They get the opportunity during lunch time. Kaushalya will decide to take Kasturi's lunch to her room, when Alka will start...
Alka : Kyon, bhabhi? Woh neeche nahi aa sakti?? Kya hum sab usse kha jaayenge??
Kaushalya : Arre nahi Alka, aise baat nahi, woh Kasturi ki tabiyat...
Alka : Ab zindagi bhar usi yehi tabiyat hogi, bhabhi!! Toh kya aap zindagi bhar usse khaana upar le jaake khilaayengi???
Pooja : Mummy ji, yeh aapne theek kahaa. Ab toh Kasturi ko jeevan bhar yahin rehna hogaa. Aaj kal toh ek baar shaadi karaana, namumkin hai, toh shaadi tootne ke baad.....
Kaushalya glares at her.
Beeji : Tum donon chup karogi???
Alka : Hame chup karaa deejiye, lekin abhi sabke phone aane shuru ho jaayenge, un sabko kaise chup karaayengi??? Poora satyanaash ho gayaa hai!!! Kasturi ke iss harkat se hum sabko bhugatnaa padegaa. Sabse zyaada uski do behenon koh!!!
Kasturi will be hearing everything from upstairs and tears will be flowing down her eyes. She will be standing very close to her bag and so will hear that her phone is ringing. She will pick up the phone. It will be Robbie. She will end the call and will see that she has 40 missed calls, all from him!!!!!! She will feel very bad, but is not at all ready to talk to him. And so she will switch her phone off.
Robbie is so frustrated that he cannot even get to talk to her!!!
Meanwhile at Kasturi's office, Sharma ji of his own accord starts to wonder why Kasturi did not come to work. So he calls her cell. But Kasturi's phone is switched off and he gets even more concerned and so calls Raunak. Raunak gives him K's home number and asks him to call her there. JP lifts the phone.
Sharma ji : Namaste. Kya mei Kasturi se baat kar sakta hun?
JP : Aap Kaun bol rahe hai?
Sharma ji : Ji, mei unkaa manager Sharma bol rahaa hun. Woh aaj kaam par nahi aayi........
JP : Oh accha. Sorry ussne aap ko inform nahi kiya, magar uski tabiyat theek nahi hai. Aaj woh nahi aa sakti. Aur ek baat mei aapse kehnaa chahta hun. Kasturi yeh naukri chod rahi hai. Mei aaj hi aapo resignation letter bhijwa detaa hun!
Sharma ji : What????? Lekin kyun? Aise decision kyon liyaa aur ussne mujhe kuch bataaya bhi nahi???
JP : Sorry Sharma ji, mei aapko kuch aur nahi bataa saktaa. Bas yun samajhiye ke haalaat hi aise paida ho gaye.
Sharma ji : Lekin yeh toh company policy ke khilaaf hai. Unhe toh ek mahine kaa notice denaa hoga. Krupayaa aap Kasturi se meri baat karvaiye.
JP : Abhi toh woh ghar mei nahi hai. Uske aane ke baad mei usse bataa doonga.
And he ends the call.
Dadaji : Kiska phone tha??
JP : Kasturi ke manager kaa. Woh keh rahe hai ke Kasturi ko ek mahine kaa notice dena hogaa kaam chodne se pehle. Lekin mei usse wahaan kaam nahi karne doonga. Uska resignation kal hi bhijwa doonga.
Meanwhile Kasturi will decide to come down as she does not want her Mom to listen to Alka's crap about her. She is on the lst step when she hears her Dad say this. She will feel very sad, but there is nothing she can do about it. Kaushalya and Beeji will notice this. As soon as JP sees Kasturi, he says
JP : Kasturi puttar, mujhe maaf karde. Galti teri nahi hai, lekin sazaa tujhe mil rahi hai!!! Teraa resignation letter tayaar karde, kal mei usse tere office pahuncha doonga.
And he will walk away from there.
That night, Beeji will slowly go to Dadaji and will start requesting him to change JP's mind
Beeji : Aaj tak meine aapki har baat maani. Bas yeh ek baar mei jo keh rahi hun usspar gaur keejiye. Agar Kasturi naukri par jaayegi, toh uska dil behlaa rahegaa. Nahi toh Kasturi puttar ke saath jo haadsaa hua hai, kahin yeh usse khaa na jaaye. Ghar mei rahegi toh hamesha Alka usse khari khoti sunaayegi, usse jeene nahi degi.....
She will try very hard to explain the situation to Dadaji. Dadaji will understand her and he and Beeji will talk to JP and Kaushalya and convince them to send Kasturi to work. JP will agree on one condition that within a month she should find a job elsewhere and quit the SS group. Kaushalya will be very happy at her husband's decision and she will convey it to Kasturi. Kasturi will be very relieved and happy that she will have a way to escape Alka and Pooja and also that she will not be a burden on her family and continue to work.

Meanwhile, Devika will be going through hell thinking that her well-oiled plan has failed with this new situation of Raunak planning to divorce Kasturi!!! She will be worried sick thinking that Robbie will try to get Kasturi back again!!!! She will be thinking furiously what to do next.

The next day Kasturi will go to work. She will explain to Sharma ji the situation and will give her one-month notice. Sharma ji will be very sad but he will promise her that he will help her in finding another job soon. Even though Kasturi will be glad to come back to work, she will dread the idea of meeting either Robbie or Raunak!!! But she will decide that she needs to remain strong and will decide to not to bend even if she comes across them. The first day will pass uneventfully. Raunak and Robbie will not know that she has started work again. The next day Raunak will get information that Kasturi has given her one month's notice and that she has started work. He will inform Robbie. That day at office closing time, Robbie will come to meet K.

Kasturi will be just finishing up, when she will hear a knock on her door.
K : Come in
Robbie will enter the room and close the door.
Kasturi will get tensed on seeing him. Robbie will stare at her. He will feel that Kasturi has lost weight in these 2 days. He will miss her like hell and was so desperate to see her!! All of this he will be converying through his eyes. Kasturi can understand all those feelings but does not respond.
R : Kaisi ho, Kasturi?
K : Acchi hun.
R : Kitnaa bhi phone karu, tum uttha nahi rahi thi, toh mujhe yahaan aanaa hi padaa.
K : Kyon Sir? Ab hamare beech koi baat nahi ho sakti, ab hamare milne ki koi wajah nahi hai.
R (pleadingly) : Kasturi please, yeh mat kaho!! Mei samajh sakta hun, tum par kya beet rahi hai. Lekin mujhe aur apne aap ko bhi thoda waqt do, please!!!
K : Nahi Sir, ab mujhe aap se bilkul nahi milnaa hai.
R (he comes to where she is sitting) : Kasturi please, meri baat samajhne ki koshish karo!!
K (moves away from there) : Nahi, ab koi bhi baat nahi hogi. Mujhe sazaa mili hai, aapse pyaar karne ki! Mei joh apne parivaar ki laadli thi, aaj unke beizzati aur dukh ki kaaran bani. Yeh sochkar mujhe apne aap se ghinn aati hai! Please Sir, mujhe akela chod deejiye. Mei ab iss haalat mei nahi hun ke aapko maaf kardu. Please yahaan se chale jaaiye!!
Robbie tries to explain a lot but she refuses to listen.Finally Robbie says
R : Theek hai Kasturi. Jaise tumhaari marzi. Lekin agar tum samajhti ho iss berukhi ki wajah se mei tumhe chodkar chalaa jaaonga, toh yeh tumhaari naadani hai. Ab yeh zindagi tumhaare naam hai. Ek din tum mujhe maaf kar dogi, isi aas se jeeta rahunga.
He will leave and Kasturi will cry putting her head on her desk. After a while, she will take her bag and start for home. She will stand in the bus stop waiting for bus when she will suddenly notice Robbie sitting in his car on the other side of the road looking at her. They will stare at each other. Robbie will come out and open the passenger side door of the car kind of indicating her to come to him. Kasturi will look away. Her bus will come, she will get into it and leave. Robbie will stand there looking after the bus, with the car door still open.

Devika will try to arrange some out of town concerts to keep Robbie away from Delhi. But Robbie will refuse to go saying that he needs to record his album, which is more important at this point. He will revive talks with the company with whom he was talking about his album. He will get busy with recording but everyday at office closing time, he will come and wait in front of Kasturi's bus stop!!! Everyday he will open his door for her expecting her to come to him with such an expression of hope and earnestness. Everyday Kasturi will see him waiting for her but will take the bus leaving him waiting for her!!!! And he will remain standing there seeing the bus with Kasturi in it drive away from him.

Meanwhile JP will continue his work at Sameer's boutique. And everybody in the Chawla household will be trying to get back to normal. One day Navneet and Tanu will take lunch for their dad to the shop. Sameer will be very glad to see both of them. JP will invite him to share his lunch. After lunch, JP will get back to work when Sameer will approach Navneet.
Sameer : Navneet, mei tumse kuch kehnaa chahtaa hun.
Navneet : Bolo
Sameer : Yahaan tak aayi ho toh mei soch raha tha, kyon na tum mere kuch designs try karo?
Navneet : Mere paas time nahin hai. Aur waise bhi mei aise kapade nahi pehenti.
Sameer : Mujhe sirf 30 minutes chahiye! Aur mei sab kapde tumhe dikhaungaa, tumhe jo acche lage wahi pehen na!!
He and Tanu will request her a lot and finally Navneet will agree in the end. She will try many dresses, western, Indian and Sameer and Tanu will also change her hairstyle and put a little make up. After a lot of cajoling, fighting, bickering, screaming, finally they will be done. It will be 2 hours of hard work but at the end Sameer will be amazed at how wonderful Navneet looked. (Imagine her in jeans and top that exactly fit her and that actually accentuated her figure). He cannot stop looking at her and Tanu notices this. Tanu will also be very happy to see Navneet look so good!!!
Sameer : Navneet, kaisa lagaa yeh new look??
Navneet (loves the look but does not want to acknowledge) : Tumne kahaa, adha ganta aur time dekho kitnaa liyaa?? Do ghante mere barbaad ho gaye!!!
Sameer (will feel hurt) : Sorry, time thoda zyaada lag gayaa. Lekin tumhe pasand aaya yaa nahi?
Tanu : Arre, pasand kaise nahi aayega? Yeh toh ekdum Miss India lag rahi hai!!! Sach Navneet, bahut sundar lag rahi hai!!!
Navneet : Accha chalo ab bahut der ho gayi hai. Lets go.
She does not say anything to Sameer and she and Tanu say good bye to their dad and leave. Sameer feels very bad and just stares after them. Tanu notices this too.
While going home she chides Navneet that she did not even have the courtesy to thank Sameer for the clothes and for spending so much of his time on her.
Tanu : Kam se kam Sameer ko thanks toh bol sakthi thi?? Tere manners kahaan gaye? Sameer ne apne kapde tujhe diye aur 2 ghante tere upar spend kiye!!
Navneet : Kaun bola usse yeh sab karne?? Meine toh nahi poocha. Uske paas waqt tha jo usne spend kiyaa. Aur kapde?? Woh mei kal usse lauta doongi!
Tanu : You are shameless!! Tu kabhi nahi sudharegi
But Tanu does not realize that Navneet actually loved this new look and she also wanted to thank Sameer but somehow could not bring herself to do it and hence acted rude instead. But her actions keep bothering Navneet and she will plan to go back to the store the next day and thank Sameer.

Divya who was out of town when Raunak's truth came out, will be shocked to know about this upon coming back. She will get in touch with Kasturi and they will talk. She will want to meet Kasturi. Kasturi will agree. They will meet up at K's office and have a long chat and finally Divya will say
Divya : Kasturi, tum hamare parivaar ka hissa ho na ho, lekin tum hamesha meri dost rahogi!!! Mujhe iss baat ka behad afsos hai ke tum meri bhabhi nahi ban saki, lekin iss baat ki bahut khushi hai, ki tumhaare jaisa dost milaa. Tumhaari dosti mei kabhi nahi khoungi!
They hug and Divya will promise to support Kasturi in her fight.

PART - 20

During this time, Raunak will fly to Hyderabad and explain the whole situation to Neela. Neela will understand and tell him that she will support him. Raunak will bring Neela and Raaga back to Delhi and everyone in the house will welcome them. Puru and Dushyant will try several times to get in touch with JP and Chawla family, but JP will refuse to meet them. Raunak will try hard to talk to kasturi again, but she will also refuse to talk to him. Finally Raunak will send Kasturi divorce papers. Though Kasturi was expecting them, actually seeing those papers will unnerve her!!! But she will sign and send the papers back to him.
Her signing of the papers will result in different feelings among the different people! Some relieved, some sad, some upset, some angry and frustrated!!!! (You guys can imagine who is feeling what!!)

One day Girish and Kikoo will come to the house with a box of sweets saying that they got finance from a bank on a good samaritan's recommendation and they both have opened an Internet center in the Chandni Chwk area. (You see, Kikoo and Girish were good friends since college and it was via Kikoo that Pooja and Girish's rishta had come to the Chawla house. After all that mess, Kikoo stopped his friendship with Girish. But after Girish's coming back as a changed man, they will revive their friendship and will decide to do some work together) Everybody will be very happy in the house.
Alka : Bhagwan ka shukr hai ke iss nasspeete mei itni toh akal aayi ke ab kuch kamaane lage.
Kikoo : Kaisi baat karti ho maa ! Mei toh tere kismat ka sitaara hun, mujhe do waqt ki roti nahi khila sakti tu??
Alka : Chup! Paise kya pedh par ug rahe hai jo mei sabhi ko muft ki rotiyaan khilati rahu (looking at Kaushalya and JP). Iss ghar mei dheere dheere hi sahi sabhi ko akal toh aa rahi hai.
JP gets upset and leaves from there.
Dadaji : Lekin beta, tumhaari itni badi madad kissne ki?
Girish : Mujhe bhi yeh nahi maloom Dadaji, Lekin mei pata lagaane ki koshish zaroor karunga. Woh aadmi mere liye bhagwaan ka roop hai. Ussne mujhe punar-janm diyaa. Varna mei toh zindagi bhar bhatakta rehta!!! (His eyes become moist)
Dadaji : Arre Girish beta, mann udaas mat kar. Ab tum dono jee-jaan lagaakar mehnat karo, tum donon ko kaamyaabi zaroor haasil hogi!! Hamaraa aashirwad tumhaare saath hai.
Girish and Kikoo will thank Dadaji. Then Girish will go to meet Kasturi. Kikoo has told Girish everything and Girish consoles Kasturi, tells her about him starting business and says
Girish : Kasturi, mujhe maaloom hai tum bahut kaabil ho aur tumhe phir se koi acchi naukri mil jaayegi. Lekin agar kabhi koi zaroorat ho, toh yeh mat bhoolna ki mei hamesha tumhaare madad ke liye tayyaar hun!
Kasturi thanks Girish and wishes him all the best.

About 25 days will pass. Robbie will work day and night and will soon finish the recording of his album. He will name his album "Sazaa". And the recording company will market his album extensively. His upcoming album will be advertised in all the media and everybody will wait for the release of his album. However busy he might be, everyday at office closing time he would come and stand opposite the bus stop. Everyday Kasturi will see him, but refuse to accept his offer and will take the bus and leave.
A small pre-launch party will be arranged by the company. This will be an exclusive affair but Robbie will badly want Kasturi to come but he will not know how to get her to the party, as if he invites her she is bound to refuse. So he will seek Divya's help. Divya will tell Kasturi that she just wants to spend some time with her as its been 3 weeks since all these problems and Kasturi has not stepped out of the house. She will not tell K that it is Robbie's concert. Kasturi will not agree to come initially but finally Divya will convince her. They both will reach the restaurant where the party is and they will notice that there is a lot of rush at the front entrance. The entrance will have large hoardings with Robbie's pictures and information about his new album. But before K can notice any of this, Divya will tell the driver to take them to the side entrance as there is a lot of rush in the front. The driver will drive them around and Divya and K will get out and enter the restaurant. They will go and sit at a table very close to the stage. The curtains will be down so Kasturi will not be able to see the stage decorations.
Kasturi : Aaj yahaan bahut rush hai, lagtaa hai koi aur party bhi hai.
Divya : Haan, lagtaa hai koi show hai. Aise restaurants mei shows toh hote hi rehte hai. (and she will change the topic) Kasturi, mujhe bahut khushi hai ke tum mere saath aane ke liye raazi ho gayi. Thanks!
Kasturi : Divya, tum meri dost ho, bhala tumhe kaise naa keh sakti hun?? (and she smiles slightly).
Divya : Kasturi, agar mujhse kabhi koi bhool ho jaaye toh mujhe maaf kar dena. Yeh kabhi mat bhoolna, ki mujhe hamesha tumhaari fikr hai aur agar mei koi kaam karti hun, toh tumhaari bhalaaye ke liye!
Kasturi (surprised) : Arre aise kyun keh rahi ho? Mei jaanti hun tum hamesha mera bhala chahogi! And she holds Divya's hand and squeezes it.
Suddenly the lights are dimmed, music starts and the stage curtains are slowly raised. Kasturi looks on and slowly realizes that a person is standing at the center of the stage. After the curtains are raised completely the spot light is on the person at center stage. He slowly raises his head and looks up in the direction of Kasturi's table. That's when Kasturi will realize that it is Robbie. They both stare at each other. Kasturi is surprised and she is just staring at him. Kasturi turns to look at Divya and is shocked to notice that Divya is gone!!! She turns back to look at Robbie. Just then Robbie has grabbed the mike.
Robbie (looking at Kasturi) : Aap sab ka bahut bahut shukriya, jo aaj yahaan mere naye album ki release party mei aaye hai. Mei itni izzat ke laayak toh nahi, lekin phir bhi aap aaye, iske liye mei tahe dil se shukr guzaar hun. Agar aap nahi aate, toh meraa album kabhi release nahi hotaa. Yeh album uss ek shaqks ke naam hai, jo meri dhadkan hai, meri zaindagi hai.
Everybody clap and RK are staring at each other.
Robbie : Aaj mei mere album se ek hi gaana pesh karunga, kyon ki mujhe jo bhi kehnaa hai, woh sab uss ek gaane mei band hai. Umeed hai aapko pasand aayegi aur meri aawaaz aapke dil tak pahunchegi.
Suddenly somebody taps on Kasturi's shoulder. She turns around and a waiter hands her an envelop. Kasturi opens the envelop and sees a greeting card. She opens the card. It will be a scene of rising morning Sun from the top of a mountain. The Sun will be rising and will throw light on the mountain. All the flowers, the shrubs, grass and everything on the mountain will be glowing in this sunlight. It will indicate a new beginning. And a small poem will be written in the card.

Har raat ke baad subah hogi, yahi reet hai
Jis mei tu shaamil ho, woh haar bhi meri jeet hai

Slowly the music starts. Kasturi will look up from the card. Robbie will be looking at her and singing the following song ....
(Guys, I have chosen the following song from the movie Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge. I love this song and specially the way Sonu Nigam sings it!! I have taken the liberty to assume that this song has been written and composed by Robbie and is part of his album! I hope you like it)

Through out the song, RK do not break eye contact!! Robbie sings the song with such emotions and feelings that there is pin drop silence in the restaurant. Nothing is moving and it seems like Kasturi is stuck to her seat. She cannot move. She is captivated by his singing and the song! The song ends and everybody gives Robbie standing ovation!!!!! The restaurant is resounding with claps. Robbie is just staring at Kasturi who is still seated. Soon the organizers come on stage and shake Robbie's hands, congratulate him and he is flooded with fans. Robbie desperately tries to keep his eyes on Kasturi. But for a moment he is inundated with fans. He quickly brushes through them and comes out to see that the table is empty. Kasturi has left !!

Robbie feels very dejected and depressed. The party continues.After talking to everybody, he slowly makes way to his dressing room. As soon as Robbie opens the door, he sees Kasturi standing there and waiting for him. Robbie bursts into a smile and quickly walks towards her. They stand in front of each other and look into each other's eyes.
Robbie : Maaf karo Kasturi, mujhe Divya ki madad leni padi tumhe yahaan tak laane ke liye. Yeh album tumhaari wajah se banaa hai aur mei tumhe hi iss album ke release kaa chief guest banaana chahta tha.
Kasturi : Jaanti hun Sir, mujhe aap se koi shikaayat nahi hai. Mei jitnaa bhi koshish karu, aapse judaa nahi ho sakti. Hamesha mere dil pe, dimaag pe aap chaye rahte hai. Aisa ek din nahi guzarta jab subah shaam aap ki yaad na aaye. Samajh me nahi aata, itnaa gehraa pyaar kaise ho gayaa!!!! (tears are flowing from her eyes)
Robbie (holds Kasturi's hands and says with such happiness) : Yeh pyaar iss janam kaa nahi hai Kasturi, yeh janam janam kaa hai!!! Hum dono hamesha se ek doosre ke liye bane the!!! Ek baar keh do mujhe maaf kar diyaa, phir kabhi tumhe door nahi jaane doonga!!!! Hum hamesha ke liye ek ho jaayenge!!!! Please Kasturi, ek baar bolo.
Kasturi : Ab mujhe aap se koi shikaayat nahi hai Sir. Meine aapko maaf kiyaa.
Robbie is wild with happiness. Both are crying buckets of tears. He is about to embrace her when he feels somebody tap on his shoulder. He turns around and sees Divya.
Divya : Bhaiyaa, kisse baat kar rahe ho??
Robbie turns around to see there is no Kasturi! He realizes with shock that it was a dream!!!! He stares at the empty space where he imagined Kasturi standing. He is completely broken to see that she was not there and falls down on the floor and cries his heart out!!!! All Divya can do is hold him when he is crying!!!
