I'm confused as to what is the real issue.
The fact rhat prerna's Sapna of ghar, Pati and baccha is typecast as "middle class?".
Or the fact that she had only that sapna?
If it's the former, then I agree. It's extremely weird to say a dream of having a family is a middle class dream. Everyone from Priyanka Chopra to my next door neighbor ultimately wants a family. No man is an island.
But if the issue is that that was her only sapna, then I don't see why that's weird. Some women have ONLY career ambitions. A husband, child etc is always secondary to their career. So when that is acceptable and laudable why is a woman having only family ambitions strange or in anyway less.
Are we still perpetrating the thinking that a homemaker is in some way lesser than a career woman.
As for financial independence, again this is a very very individualistic ideology. I know women who are simply not willing to compromise on their family for the sake of a career. This is especially true when there's a child in the picture. And they don't condone to the idea of your money vs my money in a marriage so financial independence becomes moot.
Its a perfectly acceptable and equally ambitious Sapna.
